I like TASM2 as a big spidey fan and im able to overlook the flaws i enjoy the amazing movies to bad its not getting a proper finish trilogy but since its at marvel either way its all good cause marvel took hulk and made the character ok and took a character like daredevil which i found ok damn near close to up their with spidey i prAISE WITH SEASON 1 netflix so even thought their is no 3rd film and tasm2 had more perfect set up for black suit symbiote suit im glad with him at marvel as long as they dont take away peter credibility of being the one to make the web shooters its a bit of a double edge sword with him returning to marvel both good and bad

Actually, this is the way she was created in the comic.
+Marco Rocha Smurfette was created by Gargamel in order to cause disruption and chaos in their society. (Smurfs aren't "born" they're delivered by stork every so often and have extremely long life spans so there's no need for females.) While Gargamel's plan initially worked, eventually Smurfette grew to like the Smurf community and Papa Smurf helped her to embrace her true nature and "truly" become a Smurf without the ties and loyalty to Gargamel. Interestingly, the Smurfette created by Gargamel was a brunette and she turned blonde after Papa Smurf helped her. Read into that what you will.

Fun fact; the idea of them calling everything smurf actually came from Peyo accidentally forgetting the name of salt during a meal with a friend of his. He accidentally called salt schtroumpf. So they both went back and forth talking likes the smurfs.

Even as a kid, I didn't like the Smufs, but I could tell that this movie was so bad that it actually made me feel sorry for the show. That's when you know you've done a piss-poor job when even a non-fan like myself feels sorry for the show. Only twice in my life has that happened. The second time was the movie adaptation of Alexander and the Mouthful of a Title (as I call it). Even as a kid I didn't like the book at all, and yet just one look at the trailer made me feel sorry for the book.

But I get what you were saying. Probably because New York was where the comic book industry really started and most of the early creators lived and worked there. Plus New York is pretty much the most iconic American city and has a lot of the most famous landmarks.

As terrible as this movie is. I really think the smurfs were well casted. In fact, I think the guy that played Gargamel had a PERFECT VOICE!!! I wish the new animated film had the same cast, but nope, Sony is another "What's popular?" studio! That and Jonathan Winters passing.
