I think the idea of Casey Jones being a cop is actually pretty clever. In a better movie you could say he was throne off the force because of his violent nature and tendency to take the law into his own hands, which then led him to hate the justice system and become the Casey Jones we all know and love.

Reda Fox Because the original comic did it. The first 90s movie did it. And writing original stuff is hard!!
It adds character. However, it requires at least a decent script or it will get pretty boring and pointless. So most of the time, they fail on that part.
Predalien Raven, no, Goku and Vegeta fight because their rivals turned allies, leo and raph are just dicks to each other.
Well, brothers fight. I have two brothers who get along fairly well most of the time and then the next second they're about ready to kill each other over the stupidest thing. And they're not even kids anymore, they're adults. It's just something that happens when you grow up with someone. Imo that makes the relationship more realistic and shows how close they are.
I will say it does become annoying when one of them contradicts the other just for the sake of disagreeing.

To be fair Leo in the 03 cartoon throughout the first 3 seasons was a decent leader sure he had self-esteem issues but he was still a decent leader, and throughout most of the first half of TMNT03:S4 he was the whiney/emo asshole we're familiar with but that was only due to his self-esteem being pretty much non-existent due to the combo of his greatest fear failing the team, and PTSD over the fact the only way they could beat Utrom-Shredder aka Ch'rell was nearly killing themselves via blowing the ship they were fighting Ch'rell on up with them still on it during S3's finale.
As for 2012 Leo he was a decent if somewhat cocky leader throughout all of 2012 S1, and the first half of 2012 S2 however it's midway through 2012 S2 that we see Leo go into classic asshole jerk mode especially since there's a episode in the midway point of 2012 S2 where Leo goes into full borderline dictator mode and it forces Splinter to call Leo out on this and remind him that as leader Leo shouldn't be treating his siblings as slaves, but helping them grow heck when Leo tries to paint himself as being in the right by saying "Is it too much to ask for by getting a simple thank you, and for the guys to follow my exact orders without question." Splinter is able to counter Leo's argument by simply telling Leo "Yes."
@@derrickhaggard Wasn't the entire thing with that episode in 2012 that the other three weren't listening to him at all and not appreciating everything he did? Leo didn't want a thank you for not being followed unquestioningly, he wanted a thank you for all the pressure he's under. Splinter even had a talk with Raph about understanding all the stress Leo's under.
@@parycartoons6840 Actually Leo was at fault because he was literally acting like a borderline dictator while yes Raph, and the others were at fault for not understanding the pressure Leo was under that still didn't excuse Leo's behavior as Splinter told Leo "It doesn't matter if the burden is heavy all that matters is that you bear it." and then followed up by telling him that while yes Raph and the others need to be more compassionate, and understanding of the pressure he is under it still doesn't change the fact Leo as team leader has a responsibility to help the others grow and barking orders at them like a dictator, and complaining about the others has a negative effect on the others. Basically he told Leo yes Raph, and the others should be understanding about where he is coming from, but as leader he as a responsibility to help the others grow, and barking orders like a dictator, and whining/complaining about the others is in a sense trying to avoid bearing the heavy burden of leadership a heavy burden Leo himself asked to bear.
@@derrickhaggard True. Maybe I just didn't pick up on the in between the lines stuff of that conversation, I only watched the episode once. Not saying Leo was right, Leo was very much wrong, but at least in 2003 and 2012 there were reasons behind why Leo was acting the way he was which (in the case of 2012) the other's didn't help. It felt like actual family tension where everyone else was a little at fault as opposed to stuff like the movies where... Leo just says their opinions don't matter out of no where.
@@parycartoons6840 Exactly 1st half of 2003S4 Leo was dealing with pretty much both no self-esteem and PTSD over what was supposed to be the final battle with Ch'rell and it took a couple episodes before Raph, and the others to finally figure out Leo isn't in the right state of mind, and it took Leo a two-parter aka the training with the Ancient Master to get back in the right state of mind, and for the middle half of 2012 S2 Leo finally let the pressure get to him and while yes Splinter did have to give Raph, and the others a lecture on how they should be more understanding of the pressure Leo is going through, he also had to lecture Leo on how being a leader is about helping the others grow, not barking orders like a dictator, and that due to asking to bear the "heavy burden" of leadership, he is expected to bear that burden and the pressure it brings.

That seems to be the calling card for most bad adaptations.

He has Failed This City.
The fact that there is a universe, within the DC multiverse, where Batman is taught to appreciate his team, Damien is taught how to be a kid, and Barbera is given a friend that she needs all thanks to the ninja turtles brings a tear to my eye.
They finally got their happy ending and it's all thanks to Master Splinter's beloved children.
In the 2012 series, Leonardo is an awesome and actual competent leader.
d good At least for the first few seasons, before the writers went downhill and produced seasons most of us like to consider an alternate universe and not really canon to the first seasons. But TMNT 2012 shouldn’t be forgotten or overshadowed because of the later seasons. It was really good.
Don't get me started. In the fourth season, one of the most extreme examples of the Turtles acting out of character and plot lines being rushed and underdeveloped is when the Earth is randomly destroyed by some aliens we've never heard of (not the Kraang) with only two episodes of buildup. So the Turtles go back in time with some robot called the Fugitoid-- from the comics-- and have to travel through space to stop the invasion before it starts. Then their future selves get back to the present, and now there are two versions of the Turtles, future and past. So how do the writers solve this plot hole? The past version of Fugitoid shows up with the spaceship-- again-- even though the world is safe now and it makes no sense for him to be there-- and tells the past Turtles to come with him, and in a scene that lasts _under a minute,_ they do. They squeal with excitement-- literally squeal-- say a hasty good-bye to Master Splinter and hug him, and go off with the Fugitoid, racing each other into the spaceship. Then the future Turtles hug Master Splinter again and say they're already back. I'm not even exaggerating. They don't know where they're going or when they'll be back or if they'll be back-- or anything about this robot that just randomly showed up in a spaceship-- but they just rush off in the last five minutes. It's so obvious that the writers didn't have any idea how they'd solve this plot-hole so they lazily half-assed it. It's so ridiculous and out of character and painful to watch. This is not the quality of writing from Seasons 1 or 2.

He acknowledged April's basic info in the current series in the 2014 movie's review. He "watched an episode" of the current series in the Transformers Age of Extinction review with E-Rod. He reviewed Turtles Forever as himself but I can guarantee he hasn't seen any of the other 4Kids series episodes to this day

0:42 it's funny you should say that since historically ninjas actually did use guns when they were invented. They weren't used often but ninjas definitely weren't above using them
Actual ninjas were more like hitmen or assassins that used whatever got the job done that looked inconspicuous enough. With that in mind, it makes sense to use guns if they could hide them well enough.

Also, in the 2012 series, when Donatello asked Splinter if he can upgrade his weaponry, Splinter agreed and even encouraged it
To be honest the Foot "Ninja" of the movies here are more accurate of ninja than the turtles in that they actually use technology. Shinnobi were very innovative and basically were like Batman if he were an assassin.
True! The samurai used guns a lot, so of course Shinobi (And the Wāko) would too. People seem to forget that the Japanese weren't fearful of other nations and their technology. They welcomed the Dutch with open arms, with the simple condition of "no trying to force us to convert to your weird Monotheistic religion. We're very happy with our own gods, thank you very much." So when the Dutch brought their guns and cannons, the Japanese easily accepted the western world's weapons, as they understood that they needed to change with the times. They only stagnated after Tokugawa's Shogunate Japan

No they didn't, ninjas were around since the 15th century, where guns were completely useless for ninja jobs, they were inaccurate, slow firing and easy to use, all of which is useless for people that are supposed to be elite and silent, the use of guns for a long time was primarily peasants, while samurai and ninja would use them when it was practical, the samurai being elite warriors made the gun obsolete as for them the bow was a better weapon for a long time, while for ninjas unless they were setting off an explosion they were normally trying to get out of an area without needlessly revealing there postion and having a cumbersome weapon that doesn't actually help them in there job

Much like how the first movie was inspired by The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), a corporate businessman from a corporate company killed the main character's father and creates a antidote to mutate everyone (via reptiles) with another antidote that will cure everyone. Even the tower falls off the like the Oscorp tower at the end of that movie.

Mersad Cehajic Well, they did call him a Chris O'Donnell lookalike, and he did Robin in those movies.
NC sort of did. He called Amell a Chris O'Donnell (Robin's actor) lookalike and all three of them mocked Casey with the same whiny noises that NC did for Robin in the Batman and Robin review.
Casey Jones reminds me of the guy from the Overwatch TV Show, that is currently on Season 5, that shoots people with arrows.

In every incarnation, Splinter is either Yoshi Hamato's pet or Yoshi himself, so the Turtles and Splinter have "Hamato" as their last name.

The movie brought up something that does kinda bug me... Do they have last names? Like, canonically?
Splinter is a mutated pet rat owned by Hamato Yoshi, so I guess that'd make him Splinter Yoshi, and since Master Splinter is their adopted father, would that make their surnames Yoshi, too? Or have they always just had mononyms?
Actually because of the way Japanese names work he's Hamato Splinter and is called this in many versions e.g. 2003. However, I don't think the turtles every officially use the name, although it could just be something never mentioned.
1)yes they have a canon last name its hamato,
2)hamato yoshi owned splinter and japanese use the surname before the first name hence it is hamato
in fact they call themselves clan hamato how shredder has his clan foot clan
3)april and casey are recognized members of the clan despite not being blood related with hamato or related to him in any other way but cause they are basically family, its also called hamato family sometimes
4) in some versions hamato yoshi himself mutates into a rat and takes the name splinter[ including the original 80s animated series]
even in those versions this stands true infact its more true as they are yoshi's adopted children.
5) also I am pretty sure the original og series which are the original comics from eastman and lamard which basically started the franchise its mentioned at some point
and even if it isn't, the last ronin which is sort of a sequel as it is written by eastman and lamard, the og team does confirm it

Hamato was the family name/surname, not Yoshi; in Rise they do end up calling themselves the Hamato clan, although I don’t remember if they ever outright use it as a last name.
Riiiiight right right, I forgot about that bit. But it's odd how their surnames never seem to come up at all (unless I'm rusty on TMNT lore as well as Japanese naming).

I am honestly sure that NC could make a good movie. He’s reviewed so many bad and good ones so if he did make a movie he would never make the same mistakes.
He did make a few movies as anniversary specials years ago. They're called "Kickassia" "Suburban Knights" and "To Boldly Flee".

I'll forever love Elias Koteas's Casey Jones from the first live action movie in the 90s, the perfect energy for Casey. I doubt we will ever get another live action Casey as good.

Good points on Leo. He was an ass in this movie and the 2007 movie especially. in the 80s he wasn't that bad. He just seemed like an asshole because Raph and Mike would mess up a lot. Noticed that you didn't use the 2003 or 2012 versions of Leo as I think those are the best incarnations, especially the 2003 one.

It's stupid enough that apparently individual human beings evolved from different animals. (This ain't pokemon, that's not evolution. Indiviudual living things can't live long enough to evolve). But apparently the turtles can de-evolve back into humans. So long ago,there were humans that evolved into tiny turtles, which is more de-evolution, only to mutate into giant turtles? Did they really have to rip-off the freakin' mario movie?
What I don't get is why they had to come up with such a convoluted reasoning for their mutation. Simply ooze them along with animal DNA and be done with it! It's not that complicated.
