I don't get Gargamel in this movie. I mean, he kind of has everything. Money, wealth, fame- he spends so much of his time in a fancy hotel in Paris. Sounds pretty sweet to me. What will conquering the world do? Just sounds like it would make people hate you, and that seems like a downgrade, personally.
IIRC(and i'm really not sure i do), there was something about him telling the audience to bow at the end of his magic show and they played along (like, they considered it to be some kind of gimmick), and he wanted to have the whole world bow to him by becoming even more famous and being worshiped by fans all over the world. So not literally "conquering the world" in a political sense, there was also something about him being nearly out of magic, hence why he needed some smurfs incense to replenish it.
I had a backstory mapped out for a fanfic (I could never get it off the ground). He had a love interest who ended up being a total psycho and she broke his heart. So he wanted to conquer the world in an attempt to get her back.
So the stepdad saved Neil from being eaten by a giant cat, and Neil's response was "you always barge in and ruin everything..." Did Neil want to be cat-vored?

Or better yet, I would just be asking the parents if there kids had any allergies before handing out the food at all. That kid honestly could have died and it didn't really seem like he cared.
Fun fact: in the original (French) comics, Papa Smurf literally describes what he did to Smurfette to turn her into a "true Smurf" as plastic surgery. Although she was already blue. That part comes from another comic.
It’s interesting coming here and looking at Jacob Trembley’s performance here and then looking at his performance in Luca, you can tell he’s definitely come so far.
Fun fact: The actor playing Victor Doyle is Brendan Gleeson who played Mad Eye Moody in Harry Potter and his son, Domhnall Gleeson played Bill Weasley. I know most of you probably already knew that.

Given he was a kid in a “Smurfs” movie, I’d say the directing is definitely part of it & the script was crap. Thankfully he’s found better movies like “Room”
I wonder how many people actually understand that "Der Fuhrer's Face" (the Donald Duck cartoon briefly shown in this video) is actually an anti-Nazi propaganda piece, not a pro-Nazi piece? Watch until the end of it: he wakes up in his stars-and-stripes covered room back in America, the whole thing having been a nightmare.

I don't know about anyone else but if some parents asked me, someone who was supposed to be a responsible adult, if something had peanuts in it before their kid ate it, I wouldn't deliberately choose the words "No, I would never............ there's peanut oil though," I would just say there's peanut OIL. Or better yet, I would just be asking the parents if there kids had any allergies before handing out the food at all. That kid honestly could have died and it didn't really seem like he cared.
*Step-grandson
Fun fact: in the original (French) comics, Papa Smurf literally describes what he did to Smurfette to turn her into a "true Smurf" as plastic surgery. Although she was already blue. That part comes from another comic.
It’s interesting coming here and looking at Jacob Trembley’s performance here and then looking at his performance in Luca, you can tell he’s definitely come so far.

"No you're the rough draft of Niles Crane." THANK YOU FOR FINALLY ADDRESSING THIS.
Fun fact: The actor playing Victor Doyle is Brendan Gleeson who played Mad Eye Moody in Harry Potter and his son, Domhnall Gleeson played Bill Weasley. I know most of you probably already knew that.
Wait, Papa Smurf assembles a team to go into our world to save Smurfette... and willingly chooses Clumsy? It's almost like he doesn't want her back or something...
And don't be so mean Critic, Jake outacts the shit out of this little abomination.
And if the step-dad is allergic to birds, than shouldn't he be dying now that he is a duck?
And why do the chefs want to cook a talking duck!?
So why wasn't Harris allergic to his Duck Dad?!
Coec_15324 *Recommendation* Watch the review first
Coec_15324
He did not willingly choose Clumsy. I have seen the film. Papa had asked 3 strong smurfs to join him but the crystals all got knocked into the wrong Smurfs' mouthes, one of said wrong smurfs being Clumsy.
In other words, Clumsy was comic relief in the first movie so he absolutely has to be in this one even if the reason is stupid and contrived.

How come Harris wasn't sneezing throughout the film when his stepdad was a duck?
Fake duck feathers (since his father was a duck for a short time, and not really a duck), or he took a handful of antihistamines.
You're actually taking this seriously. Thanks for the response.

Ok this is killing me. Onions make you cry, he was taking their tears.
The reason Gargomel used onions is obvious, it's Papa Smurf's _reaction_ to the onions that Critic keeps focusing on.
Alright then. I don’t think anyone actually cares….. or asked
Duck Hitler is an actual cartoon. And I'm not referring to Donald as a Nazi. I mean an actual duck version of Adolf Hitler.
ArendAlphaEagle You mean that Daffy Duck (yeah he didn't really technically appeared in it but the world consider it as one) cartoon? Man that was a funny short; especially that racist joke with South Germany just for the audacity of a Southern Black guy being in the Nazi army.

BigK13372 While I'm pretty sure it isn't a Daffy Duck cartoon, I do recall there being some joke about a stereotypical black "duck" in the short, so it might as well be.
ArendAlphaEagle are you referring the ducktator? There are a lot of duck Hitlers for some reason
ArendAlphaEagle why the hell
that kid ended up being an AMAZING actor in the movies "room" and "before i wake"
soooooooooo maybe its all about direction lol (that and he has grown some)
Given he was a kid in a “Smurfs” movie, I’d say the directing is definitely part of it & the script was crap. Thankfully he’s found better movies like “Room”
Well Roja Gosnell is a walking disaster so...
Who cares though? He is just some random actor.

Bill's backstory is so moving and heartwarming... It's not surpisingly everyone loves him so much!
That kid crushed it in Room. He's completely capable of giving an amazing performance. Just shows how little the director cares.
Well... it's still propaganda.
A much better comparison would have been The Ducktators [WB].

Ok clearly you've never truest seen any of the nostalgia critics episode, or else you would know Bill as a common character. I can't even list all the episodes he's been in
Wow.. that kid was SO good in Room and so bad in Smurfs, if he keeps improving this fast then the sky's the limit!
He's going to be in the new Predator movie that's going up in the world he's in a big franchise now
Shane Black is good at directing young actors anyway. Besides the kid in Iron Man 3 (who briefly returns in the movie I'm about to mention) the kids in The Nice Guys were fantastic.
The kids in Stranger Things set a new high bar I think!
Half the Stranger Things kids already had resumes as long as my arm before they got to the show and are expected to be good, but the new ones were just as amazing. Such a great cast.

One of my personal favorite Nostalgia Critic quotes.
Jacob Tremblay should have been nominated for an Oscar for Room, tbh.
Sophie He's also in that new movie Wonder! I just think this is a crappy script that didn't give him enough room for good lines and acting. He's surprisingly talented in other things he's been in.
Hopefully Doug sees this and gives Jacob some credit. We all suck when we're sick
+Amelia Kennngton Tremblay was like 6 when smurfs 2 came out, of course he isn't a great actor yet.
