I remember watching this show when I was 3 or 4 yo, I was confused and terrified, those dancing birds were like a horror to me but why this guy sing and dance happily with them
If you listen closely to Leo, you can hear some Michael jackson in his singing voice and this was before Michael huge and adult. So Michael sounded a bit like Leo.
When this was on the Muppets was my favourite show, now that the Disneyborg has assimilated it I can't stand even a minute of it. Poor Jim Henson must be turning at lightspeed in his grave.
I have loved this song since it first came out, reading the comments reminds me of when Elvis first started on the Ed Sullivan Show and the network wouldn't allow him to be shown in full. Only from waist down. Also reminds me of Alan Freedman and the start of Rock n' Roll. All the negativity about music and the kids. LOL What goes around comes around.
This was in the day lip syncing was very accepted though I hated it as a teenager. I always felt ripped off. But I was also entertained. I love this song to this very day!!
On occasion, the muppet band did have Rowlf on the piano, I sort of wish he was on the piano here instead of Dr. Teeth, but I have to say that Dr. Teeth is cool, but I still like to see Rowlf on the piano as well
For a change, I would have liked to have seen Rowlf on the piano when Leo Sayer was singing You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, no offense to Dr. Teeth, but Rowlf was great on the piano as well
Love this song... first saw it on my daughter's wiggle show. The new season. However, I think he is lip syncing this particular performance. All that jumping around, no skip in his voice... and the accoustics sound great in the background... so where is the mike??? Either way, a really cool song.
I prefer Leo singing it with the Muppets than the wiggles (I would be happy with it if it weren’t for one little thing, it was the Sam era, now please don’t get me wrong, he’s a great guy and he has talent, he made a great wiggly dancer but I don’t really like him as a wiggle, it felt too different when Greg left because he was sick)
@MrBornbadd You attitude I think assumes that your generation's music is superior. That would be the same error that you charge the Hannah Montana age with doing. Not I am not saying mine is superior (which i have not said what mine is). I am just pointing out your hypocritical comment.
Leo Sayer said in an interview that being on the Muppet Show was something he enjoyed the most during his whole career. And that is very visible here!
I learned about the most amazing music from the Muppets... so many things before my time that I was exposed to, and I'm better for it. ♥
Same here!
Man, I loved being a kid back then.
This is perfect for the goofy character of Leo Sayer.
I remember watching this show when I was 3 or 4 yo, I was confused and terrified, those dancing birds were like a horror to me but why this guy sing and dance happily with them
what a bloody good song it makes me feel like dancing
this is my all time favorite Muppet preformance
mine too
Leo Sayer's dancing partner looks like a cross between Big Bird and Cookie Monster!
Applause for Leo, but WOW, the dancer in that bird costume drove it home.
Love that google eyed bird, a perfect dancing partner for Leo. lol
AW he is such a sweetie, great clip, thanks for uploading :-D
The list of "Serious Artists" who clammered to appear on the Muppet Show, or Sesame Street, is incredible...
Thanks for posting this great recording artist . Damn good video .

i use to love the muppets when i was little.
The Mupppets equal genius!
I like this song. Fantastic!

alegran mis madrugadas
I love the bass guitar and the George Clinton/ Parliment vibe!

RAAANDY!!!
Sooooo does anyone else think Leo looks a lot like Richard Simmons?
15 people stood or sat still during this performance!
Yep
I love this video!
I love the muppets. That said... I'm on the weird part of youtube again
This brings back childhood memories............that was a good performance.
ahhh... disco and the muppets, my kind of combo!
he sings in falsetto and i reckon he's one of the greatest and it's not because he now lives in my country
love him good voice
Ótimo, Leo Sayer
66 years old
Still like some Leo Sayer
A planet where birds evolved from man. And afros grew little human peoples under them.
My mom loves it when guys sing in falsetto like this... lol
just freakin awesome…
Such happy times.
I wonder if he ever thought to himself "my career as a serious artist came to this?" or " i want people to look at me as a serious artist"
Unless it's a live performance, songs are recorded in studio for television and movies.
LOVE THE MUPPETS LOVE AFRO GUY SINGING!
Thanks for posting !

Had long ago a VHS was titled muppet music videos, wish had still ✌️❤️
he is miming this because he sound like he's speaking through a microphone and as you can see he has got one on stage so he had to pre record this
Me encanta
^^ I LOVE the Muppets.
This is the best cover of this song
Very entertaining!
L.O.L I love the muppets too!
He can still sing in that high voice today! Check out the muppets singing in the background.
On occasion, the muppet band did have Rowlf on the piano, I sort of wish he was on the piano here instead of Dr. Teeth, but I have to say that Dr. Teeth is cool, but I still like to see Rowlf on the piano as well
LOL and love it!
his voice sounds better in this than some other versions on youtube lol
The bird dancers would later be seen dancing during Liberace’s concert for the birds.
I like this version more that the original song.
he looked like that long before before Richard Simmons even considered releasing a workout video
Happy!
I think that whoever was inside the bird costume had to have some pretty strong choreography skills to keep with Leo like that?
This is just so goofy! It's not the best representation of how great of a singer Leo Sayer is. Also, does this remind anyone of Thriller in a way?
For a change, I would have liked to have seen Rowlf on the piano when Leo Sayer was singing You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, no offense to Dr. Teeth, but Rowlf was great on the piano as well
This song makes me feel like hurling.
I love that dancing bird. I think he might be a better dancer than Leo.
ya they are
you would have to pay me a lot of money to wear a costume like that and dance....like that!
Wow! Curly perms. I'll just leave it at that.
I gotta wonder what made them decide to go with birds for this one. Not hating, just felt it’s a random choice.
what's the movie called? i had this on tape but i lost it
Who were those dancers?
15 people stood or sat still during this performance!
RAAANDY!!!
And here's a news flash-- The Muppet Band isn't really playing their instruments live, either.
OF COURSE HE'S LIP SYNCING!!!
Love this song... first saw it on my daughter's wiggle show. The new season. However, I think he is lip syncing this particular performance. All that jumping around, no skip in his voice... and the accoustics sound great in the background... so where is the mike??? Either way, a really cool song.
he didnt lyp sync. didnt have to. Leos range was beyond incredible; His talent was just off the charts.
Leo Sayer , the macho version of Richard Simmons
There you are Richard Simmons!
@RipJack645 this comment seriously just made my day XD
That one creature was really weird. The muppets were weird too, but not as much.
did he lip sync this so he can dance?
Now that's one 70s star I don't miss at all.
My favorite episode, specifically because of how seamlessly Leo fits in to muppet universe 🤍
I wish they would release seasons 4 and 5 on DVD. But since Disney took over That may never happen.
They're gonna release the old episodes on Disney+, so you might be able to see them.
1978

who knew rocks had humor?
Sooooo does anyone else think Leo looks a lot like Richard Simmons?
Nice hair (note the sarcasm)
hahas...so goofy
Our CAT was called Muppet
someone just got a SWIFT kick in the nuts
another great song. they dont make them like this anymore. Billie Eilish could never.
Terrifying.
Now i'm weird!
The person who sings this is a guy?!
jaye230,Funny !
The muppets are freakin beast. You guys are just haters.

@MrBornbadd You attitude I think assumes that your generation's music is superior. That would be the same error that you charge the Hannah Montana age with doing. Not I am not saying mine is superior (which i have not said what mine is). I am just pointing out your hypocritical comment.
