I went to his concert with my parents when I was 10 and had front row seats. Leo got me up to dance with him to this song and I’m now 47 and I’ll never forget it. ❤️🙌🏻🌟
I am 47 also, it is 1:30 in the morning and just awoke from a dream that I was preparing for some kind of small town Fairy Festival, I had this sort-of 1920's flapper/woodland nymph costume on, feathers and leaves around my ball mask and what-not. And there was going to be a talent segment on the stage, including me singing this song to some ancient old man of the community, for some reason!! I was rehearsing my dance moves behind the curtain, only got as far as the first line "You-got-a-cute-way-of taaah-kin" and the sheer JOY just woke me straight up. It then occurred to me that I knew nothing about this beloved song from my childhood, so I had to get up and see who did it. Wow! No idea it was a solo act, never mind a scrawny little white dude. But man, what a voice.
No, Ray Parker Jr, got you up to dance. That song was written by Ray Parker jr, and Leo Sayer stole it I mean he stole it from Ray. Leo never had another hit remember.
I remember this song I'm not ashamed to say I was 30 years old in 1976. I am 74 years old now and I still love this song. It will always be my favorite song 🎵.
@@deni0.0.7 To answer your question Deborah YES. I just turn 75 in June and my brother's gave me a big birthday party 🎉 🥳. I had so much fun dancing 💃 to 50's music 🎶. We did line dancing to the Bee Gees Night Fever. Had a blast.
Sadly, Leo has been hospitalized with kidney, bladder and prostate problems, and I am calling all prayer warriors to hold him in your prayers. Best time of year. The seventies were awesome. I was born in the 70s in 1975 and loved every. The music was fun to listen to and this song by Leo Sayer is one of my favorites
Fabulous...I always thought the opening verse was sung by a woman (specifically to be honest a southern woman of color due to the high pitch and accent...no offense intended)...Then I thought it was Leo that took the second part...I guess I thought it was some sort of a duet...His voice range and change of direction is off the chart...spectacular quite frankly...I was just a young schoolboy when this song made its debut...Song popped into my limited memory 50 years later (this morning) and I thrilled to reconnect with it...Superb...❤
i heard this without video for a year. i couldn't believe the same guy can switch between singing high and mid-range within seconds, but he did it (and it shows in this video)! 😅😁
Kala Plante all musicians could perform live and outdo the studio tracks back before the mid 90’s. Concerts are hopeless now unless you see the old greats.
The two singers are really good looking. 1970s wow. In the album, recorded in UK, there are three singers. From a ready pool of LA singers … right now, 45 years later, they had successful careers, and are in their late 60s. Hope their voices stayed strong and clear.

Those ladies are awesome!! I love watching the guitarist in the background. He about stole the show lol but yes this is a happy song. This song is funky!
Just seen Leo perform at the Picturedrome, Holmfirth on 08 October 2022. The guy can still hit those notes (unlike many of his contemporaries) Pitch perfect! Last saw Leo at the Palace Theatre in 1975 and 1976. Brilliant showman. Great songs. The memories. Thankyou Leo!

I was an 80's baby so I'd have to say I was not familiar with Leo Sayer until recently he popped up in my UA-cam feed. I watched an interview from the UK where he talked about almost meeting Elvis, August 1977 he spoke to Elvis on the phone through an acquaintance where Elvis mentioned this song and wanted to meet Leo and hang out... Sadly that never came to be. But I find it interesting.
The drummer and guitar has the groove in a nice pocket, the percussionist is accompanying nicely on the congas and tumbadora, nice smooth bass, lovely soprano from the ladies, and Leo ties it all together with a sharp falsetto into that mellow tenor. Classic!
Me too! Thought it must be a duet too so I clicked here to see how they do it live and wow wow wow wow what a talent. Jesus, maroon 5 and that dude from the scissor sisters only WISH
The drummer kicks ass. Was born at least 30 years ahead of his time. No wannabe gangster today could even hope to attain the kind of swagger he had in these six minutes.
