I’m surprised this was actually made in the 80s. It feels more like a modern parody of an 80s music video. I guess that means it was ahead of its time.

Weird Al stated in Billboard Magazine that "Michael Jackson wasn’t just cool about my parody of ‘Beat It,’ but he also loved my version of ‘Bad,’ which was ‘Fat.’ He even let me use the actual ‘Bad’ subway set for the ‘Fat’ video,” Yankovic recalled. “He was very supportive, "

Meanwhile, Prince was the exact opposite and tried to block all of Weird Al's parodies that had to do with him and even tried to get him blackballed from the music industry and dropped by his label. Which is why in multiple songs over the years, Weird Al has taken shots at Prince in different songs and music videos. Eminem sadly did the same thing and blocked him from parodying him, which is insane because Em is known to parody celebrities and mock them yet when Weird Al did it to him, he blocked him from making any music video for parodies aimed at him.

Technically, Weird Al doesn't need permission legally to do a parody. He ALWAYS asks though, and respects the artist if they decline. Guy's not just funny, his integrity is top notch.

We got there early and were down near the floor. I was like " Holy s#! t, is that AL?" He was standing there with his wife, literally 10ft in front of us. Since there was only a handful of people there at the time, we went up and said hello, told him we were at his show last night. He was nice enough to sign my Tmbg ticket. Lol. Class Act 👍
