Xanadu | Olivia Newton-John & Gene Kelly's '80s/'40s Hybrid E.L.O. Roller Disco

- "A place where nobody dared to go... The love that we came to know... They call it Xanadu!" Watch Olivia Newton-John perform E.L.O.'s "Xanadu" along with Gene Kelly in the eponymous 1980 cult classic. We know the title of this video is confusing but we couldn't fit in the fact that while Gene Kelly's character owns and operates the '80s/'40s hybrid roller disco, Olivia Newton-John's character is the daughter of Zeus and a literal Greek muse. And we just really needed you to know that.

Xanadu is a look at the future and a loving remembrance of the way things were in the heyday of Hollywood. The musical score includes the hit songs "Magic," "I'm Alive," "All Over the World," "Suddenly," and the title song "Xanadu." Olivia Newton-John will dazzle your senses with her luminous beauty and fabulous voice. She and Gene Kelly star in this mesmerizing musical fantasy. The '40s meets the '80s in Xanadu, a very special love story and the first lavish, old-fashioned musical to utilize today's music.

It's depressing to know that this world does not have Olivia Newton John anymore. R.I.P.
Really depressing. 😔
it's not real
She's a good recruit for the astral heaven plane though! We are all immortal souls and thankfully so is Olivia! :)
I know, right? This video/song could not be made today. Nobody could do this with any amount of digital gear and current recording techniques.
I know what you mean but she's at peace and in no more pain, I believe.
I am an adult male 77 years old. This song makes me cry. I went to see it with my wife and 2 daughters. My youngest especially just loved ONJ. We saw her perform at Forest Hills on Long Island. My baby girl just turned 50 on 2/4/24. My oldest was taken from us in a car crash on 11/13.87. Yes, it was a Friday. I will always have a place in my heart for Olivia Newton-John.
sry for your loss.
Thank you, Irene. I still think about her every day. She would have been 55 on May 4, 2024.
I am very sorry for your loss, I am glad that you have beautiful memories of your wife and children 🤍
@nelliflate7871, your story gave mixed emotions. I’m so happy you made such great memories with your daughters. I’m sorry a car crash took your oldest daughter away from you and your family.
I just turned 50 also but unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to see ONJ in person or I wish I would have. I loved her ever since I laid eyes on all these movies when I was a little girl, I remember wanting to be her so bad, even though I looked nothing like her long brown hair and brown eyes and nothing like her in the least but nevertheless, I wanted to be here so I made an outfit that look like the one she wore in Xanadu when I was 10 years old and I wore it all the time lol I’m sorry to hear about your oldest and I’m so glad you will have the opportunity to see ONJ in person but wonderful memories
The choreography that went into this is insane. Legend
That split on the tightrope is probably my favourite bit.
Wanna see more incredible choreography? Take a look at this. 🤩

There is so much coming on that you notice something new everyone you watch it.
Yes and those utter wankers Siskel and Ebert said the choreography was bad, what the hell do they know . Never liked them anway
Lol
Gene Kelly was almost 70 years old, in his final film performance, and he could still roller skate! What a legend.
now that is a movie star!
I love that this is still remembered. High light of my youth.
@@balanceyourmind mine too
And I can barely do the Cha Cha Slide in roller skates.
One of the best. His smile and dance will just cheer you up.
Hearing that Olivia Newton-John has passed makes me want to sob. This Movie and this song...not forgetting the magic of Magic brings a smile and memories of being happy as a kid. Legendary movies and songs. Your music and legacy in fighting cancer dearest Olivia will be remembered. We miss you already.
Rest in Peace Queen
I was looking for a CD to play in my car today and found her CD which I hadn't played in ages, than I came home and found out she passed to Xanadu, that is some illuminati shit right there, like she was talking to me, freaky!
As a skater and an ELO fan, this is the ONJ song I remember.
When I was in junior high school, I went to see this movie with my friends. I admired Olivia on the screen and danced.
I was young then.
But Olivia will forever live in my heart as a beautiful, intelligent woman.
Olivia, rest in peace
My mum adored Olivia, being a 70s kid, so she made sure my brother and I appreciated her talent just as much. Rip :(
When I went to see this movie, I didn't even think about Gene Kelly skating...The man was phenomenal always. God bless him and Olivia. may they truly rest in peace.
2 fantastic performers
Yes. 🙏🏻
I worked at a movie theater in 1980. One night I was asked to work late because they were going to screen a rough cut of a new movie from Universal Studios called Xanadu for the theater chain president to watch and bid on the next morning.
We had to load it to the theater platter projection system. This theater was one of the first in the chain to have a Dolby surround sound system installed. My job was to make sure the splices for the various reels are clean and the movie ran without any problems.
I had the privilege of watching Xanadu probably before any other public person ever saw it. It was months before it's official release. There were jump cuts and splices with "scene missing" title cards for a few frames at certain points. The Don Bluth animation was not completed and was all wire frame during that scene.
The best part was I got to sit in the middle of a 400 seat theater by myself with the soundtrack cranked and listen to brand new Olivia Newton John and ELO songs that no one else in the world had heard yet. The movie was kind of corny but you have to admit that it is a kick-ass soundtrack that endures to this day.
Love the sound track ❤️
What a unique experience! Plus Olivia in her prime, glowing on the big screen. We all have our 'types', and for me oh my sweet lord, heart melting beauty its Olivia. From young boy hood crush to goddamn! (in size 1000 font) as as grown man, she just shone.
I truly dont care what people think this is one of the best choreographed i have seen
Very underated bcz greace.great work from e.l.o also
It's awesome
Definitely
If anything it's the lighting design that's off, it"s not atmospheric enough to match the level of choreography and deadens the whole vibe. Still this ranks as one of my favorite modern musicals of all time. RIP to dear Olivia, she was a songbird in a league all her own..
Sin duda esta coreografia y Thriller de Michael Jackson son de las mejores, y Grease.🌹🌹🌹Gracias Olivia !!
I don’t care what they think either loved this movie.rest in peace
I fell in love with Olivia-Newton John the first time I heard her sing. So much so I wanted to name my first daughter Olivia but my wife wouldn't have it. She compromised with me and agreed to name her Kira, ONJ's character in Xanadu. She will be missed. Rest in peace Olivia 🙏
As much as I like "Olivia" i LOVE "Kira"
And now your daughter has a story.
I was named after a Beatles song. Used to hate my middle name. But as i got older, i loved it
Yes, RIP to an amazing beautiful woman! I cannot believe we lost Sandra Dee.
Rest in peace Olivia. Such a beautiful woman. God bless you.
My heart is broken, but my adoration and admiration of this incredible woman who was as beautiful inside as well as out has never been a waste. I love you forever ONJ ❤️
You named your daughter Kira over Olivia LOL 😆 😂 🤣.
Has there ever been a greater combination of beauty, sweetness and vocals? Olivia was a legit angel.
Tell me about it, stud.
I love absolutely everything about this movie. The 80s art-deco revival, the uplifting songs, the wonderful choreographies, and of course the very talented and beautiful Olivia N.J and the fantastic Gene Kelly. This movie is not Shakespeare and it was not intended to be. It is just a movie that brings so much joy.
And the superb Jeff Lynne & ELO!
@@jamiefenn1799 and Andy Gibb, what happened to him?
I remember walking out of the theater when this was released and just felt happy and full of joy... exactly what you said.
I’m literally crying as I type this…just learned of her passing less than 5 minutes ago. An amazingly talented singer and iconic actress. I have no words only sincerest appreciation and love for this wonderful entertainer. Rest in the most beautiful peace, Diva 😭😭😭💖💖💖💖💖

It’s crazy that you can genuinely grieve for a woman you didn’t know personally…yet I have no doubt that my deep sadness isn’t unique.
The world has lost a really, really extraordinary human being.
@@carolynloughran5450 quite honestly, I truly believe that we could feel her good energy through her music, that's why it's incredibly sad.
It's crazy that this movie came out 42 years ago today and Olivia-Newton John passes away. I hope she got this entrance on her way to heaven.
I didn't even realize that. Her return to Olympus at the end is beyond Ironic and yet where else would a Goddess end up...😔
Heaven isn't real.
@@aarons6935 nobody cares dude. It's a tribute...
One of a kind! her entrance to heaven better be this way!
I can't believe I have never seen this movie. They don't/can't make stuff like this anymore. Auto-tuned digitally edited music lacks all of the humanity you get in this kind of vocal performance. Truly dazzling visually and sonically.
This is the REAL effort within this movie. Imagine the coordination, and costume design. Impressive.
I'm heartbroken by Olivia 's passing. She was such an incredible singer and actress who brought so much joy to so many. RIP Olivia Newton John.
she was my first crush. well her and Tina Turner
RIP Olivia! She had an amazing career despite all the hardships she faced throughout her life. She’ll be dearly missed by billions of her fans!

Xanadu the movie mesmerized me, as a gawky teenager still in high school in 1980. While the movie did not do well, it was a spectacular showcase and in its magical 1980's way, reminded me of what it was like to be 16 years old again. God I miss it. And I miss both Gene Kelly and Olivia.
I watched this over and over and I still don't understand how they pulled this off. It's incredible ❤
Xanadu ✨
For me, this will always be the sound of summer in 1980.

RIP Olivia Newton-John! Xanadu was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid...can't believe it's been 42 years since I saw it in the theatre.
I LOVE how ALL dancers are INCORPORATED in the Choreography is AMAZING ❤
My mother who I loved beyond belief passed like 6 months later. I hope she's up there w Sandy D learning how to do handjive lol. GTA live the heavens rite
Even though this movie technically was considered a flop, I loved it ! Never could take my eyes off Olivia ! The dance choreography was great ! Thank you Mr. Kelly and Kenny Ortega. The young generation will NEVER realize how much fun Skating and Disco were. 👍👍👍👍👍👍💙
Same here. I used to have a huge crush on her.. I saw this movie the night it opened....
Yes... Olivia makes the movie riveting when she is onscreen. She is beyond fantastic. Gene is a legend.
The movie flopped because it was garbage. The music was the only redeeming quality.
Yep, the movie was "meh" but the music (and probably the choreography) was off the chart.
I didn’t care much for it the first time. But I ended up liking the movie when I saw it a second time
Just heard of Olivia's passing, so revisited this gem. She was so beautiful in this clip - as a young boy I couldn't stop watching it. R.I.P.
I’m 54 and I still have this song on my playlist. Always makes me smile to listen to ONJ and her angel voice ❤️
No plastics, no fillers, no synth, no CGI, just talent, and OLIVIA IN ALL HER GLORY!
I mean the film has plenty of synth mate
Synth was heavily used in vintage music doesn't make it bad though????
I’ve never cried over someone famous passing away but this one has torn me to shreds. Maybe because she was my first crush after Grease came out, maybe it was because she seemed so genuine and sweet. I don’t know but ONJ passing has hit me in way I never thought possible.
What a treasure. ❤️
hugs. I can't stop thinking about her. I'm obsessed with googling all her old videos. It hits us because it's a marker of time passing and our own mortality plus she was someone we adored!
me too, I never get super upset when celebrities die, but ONJ was different. I honestly loved her.
Only Olivia a European who moved to Australia only to become America's Sweetheart then the World's, She was it! in every way imaginable.
I loved her as well everyone.
Some have that effect on you.
This was Gene Kelly's final film. He was so amazing in the beginning of this video. That whole dance routine is very difficult to stay in sync with everyone. It's still one of my favorite movies!
My favorite movie with him is the Pirate he did with Judy Garland
RIP Olivia Newton John
She passed away recently
I was born is '86. I used to think Xanadu was some heady Kubrick-esque film. It wasn't until very, shamefully, recently that I discovered that it was essentially a camp extra baffling musical. This song, Gene Kelly, Olivia, the choreography, the vision. It inhabits a part of my brain that maybe hasn't dreamt this way since I was that little kid in the 90s. There will never be something like this again, because there can't be. This life and dream is gone and will never exist in this way again. But like Rocky Horror, or Priscilla, or Phantom of the Paradise, it is here in a sweet small capsule. Eternal, for all of us and those who come after to love. It's an embrace.
My face always lights up with Olivie's entrance.
There is something truly marvellous about Olivia Newton John..
My friend and I would spend the entire recess debating who would be the one to marry her first. Haha then Physical came out and we almost lost our minds. Marvelous is right.
This is so miracles about it she reminded
Radiating confidence is something we all want.
God the way she rises up into the picture like that (3:25) makes my heart flutter.
💖✨💖✨
She's an earth Angel ❤️
This is one of my favorite movies of the 80's, and the world a better place knowing Olivia Newton-John made her mark on in it. One more thing, Gene Kelly is a heck of skater at 68 years old!
Gene Kelly was always quick on his feet!
Gene Kelly is still my favorite ❤️
No, this movie was released in 1980, and Gene Kelly was born in 1912. Do the math. [Edit: The commenter I was replying to has deleted his or her comment, or hidden it from me. I wasn't replying to Lon Luna, who is correct about Gene Kelly being 68 here.]
I definitely get it. You hit the nail on the head with your comment. I am an African American who grew up between Middlesex N.J. and Baltomore city in the 70's and 80's and I am so grateful I grew up during that era because it seemed if all races were coming together .I wouldn't change anything about my childhood because the world WAS becoming a better place AND those were the best decades of music ever especially the 70's and I mean all genres of music. Oh how I wish I could go back because I would stay there. PEACE TO THE WORLD and EVERYONE IN IT!!!
I know, I was shocked seeing that grandad veteran actor whirling around, but kinda vibes well, he is like the leader to his progeny or something in this scene.
As a bass player, I spent many nights offstage playing this. Just pure joy. ELO was at the top of there game here and magnificent. There is actually a Jeff Lynne singing version.
My first album was ELO!
I have to hear Rock a ria!
There was one with Roy Wood. I still have that.@@bonniebickett4520
Any rate, I just love the song as I did all of ELO. Roy Wood I followed and he had many good songs as well.@@bonniebickett4520
Do you know where a bass line like this came from?-- Sounds generic for a disco-pop line, but it sounds awesome here.
Im a 57 year old crying my ass off as I hear Olivia sing this song bringing me back memories of my very young innocent life.Thank u for the memories Olivia God Bless You .RIP.
A lovely comment victoria, she was a wonderful person, heaven is a much better place for her being there.
I won’t ruin your 21.
If you truly are a 57, what ever that is, and crying over a cheesy movie made when you were 13 then, you are living a sad life...
Gene Kelly is not gliding on roller-skates, he's levitating and the room is revolving around him because he's GENE.FUCKING.KELLY.
We rented this last summer and in the commentary he said he was very annoyed that they only shot him from the waist up during the whole roller-skating segment.
Gene Kelly was so amazing 🤗😆😁🤣🥰
You think he's cool in this, watch his whole ass song and dance number on skates:

@@mdwsb Interesting. I liked Xanadu and I'm a huge Olivia fan but I thought the editing of this movie was horrible. Lots of close ups when a lot of dancing was going on and a wide shot would have been good and shown the choreographers vision of the scene. Like when all the Greek muses dance out of the wall and they are all dancing together and we couldn't see most of it. A real waste of hard work. I think Grease 2 also had bad editing.
No green screen no auto tune no nets...just pure talent.
... and loads of PRACTICE (which would have been expensive with this many people having to be coordinated).

She was talented and beautiful. RIP Olivia.
@@Coastcrawler That was completely unnecessary and you know it.
Olivia Newton John was amazing in this movie. I went to the Worlds Fair in Knoxville,!TN and at the Australia Pavilion they had a video of Olivia singing the song “Physical “ I will never forget that. She was an incredible lady, singer and actress. She was incredible for her fight with cancer too. When you get the phone call informing you that you have cancer you’re life is never the same every day after that. You could be fighting cancer for 10,20,30 or 40 years. Thank God for every day of your life? Because tomorrow is never promised us.
Update I got a call today from my cardiologist and he said that some areas on my pet scan looked cloudy, so I will get a biopsy ASAP to see if it is cancer or not. Either way God has got this. Whatever happens happens. If I live or die it’s Gods will for me. Olivia Newton John fought cancer for 30 years. She enjoyed every day she lived her life. She had a great attitude too. She enjoyed almost everything when she could.
When I was 16 I saw Olivia 's face on a LP cover. I fell in love. She not only was a beauty but had a voice like an angel. It was upsetting when she passed away. The world lost a great talent but more important a good person.
Olivia Newton John was the greatest female voice ever, her work with ELO is what makes this film great
Olivia Newton-John was and will always be absolute perfection in every way.
Except in rollerskating and dancing. Lol! Otherwise I gree.
andy morris, That's very distressing to hear. Are you referring to a recent cancer relapse that seems pretty dire?
@andy morris Noooo! That's awful news. 😢
@andy morris and yet she just released another duet with her daughter yesterday.
@andy morris and there is no such news in the pipeline that I see. From October: "Olivia Newton-John hasn’t undergone radiation in “a couple of years” and hasn’t had a scan for cancer “for a long time,” which the 72-year-old actress happily revealed in an EXCLUSIVE interview with HollywoodLife!"
To see Gene Kelly with such joy in the beginning of the video is a priceless moment.

I'm in tears right now. Olivia was one of my favorites. Cancer just sucks!!!!
This whole movie is so criminally underrated and this is the best scene from it. The choreographed skating to a drumbeat that gives me chills only to have Olivia pop up and close things out like the angel she is. This is what heaven better feel like. 🥳🤗
A friend of mine was one of the skaters in the film. She said all the skating stomping sound was put in later because they couldn't all do it in synch well enough while performing.
I liked the bit with Kelly playing clarinet at the beach.
I don't believe in heaven, but I wholeheartedly agree.
Yea it's sad that this film flopped in the box office.
Oh it was SO uncool. Everyone was so snotty about this movie! I've always loved it. I saw it as the "in-flight" movie on a bus on the way to France when I was 11 or something. I totally loved it and still do...
Watching the roller-dancers thinking, "that must have been one hell of an audition. We need fifty dancers who can do it on wheels." :)
I LOVE this because it just perfectly captures the late 70's, early 80's vibe when I was a teenager. Best time of my life! Back when people knew how to get along and just enjoy life!
I could do all this & frequently did at the time! Oh the days gone by...
Gene Kelly is a genuine legend. I miss actors, dancers and singers like him.
He actually did the choreography in the "Whenever You're Away From Me" song and purposely chose simple dance steps that would be easy for Olivia, who was a non-dancer, to do. It would have been so easy for him to showcase his own dancing, but he chose to choreograph it so that Olivia would be his partner in every sense. A true gentleman and a real class act.
I can't believe he's skating!
Me too, I can’t believe this movie was the first time I had seen him (when it came out, of course), but we didn’t get to see movies much when I was younger, and so when I saw this movie, I was in my teens, and I remember thinking “the lead guy is hot, but this Gene Kelly is hotter”. His voice, and his figure (perfection), and he is so handsome... And then when he dances with all of that, there’s nothing more glorious than watching him dance. Women still swoon over him.
@@theshillneckedlizard8364 I watched the movie for him; Olivia was a bonus.
Ha ha. My dad's name was Gene Kelly. And he was roller dancer in the 50's in Ireland. We still have his skates. No lie, the wheels are ply wood.
This will always be my go to feel good song RIP Olivia, you fought such a long battle with cancer and with so much positivity and grace.

I was 12 years old when this movie came out. Forever missed will be Ms. Olivia Newton-John a brilliant and beautiful singer and actress.
A magical place and time and we just didn't catch it at the moment. We're now left with precious memories..
I heard that Gene Kelly was a bit disapointed that in Xanadu they didn't give him more screen time when he was skate dancing during this part. He took pride in his skating abilities and he was a pro at roller skating . In one of his older movies called" It's always fair weather" he was featured tap dancing on roller skates and busting some serious dance moves on roller skates.
Took me years to watch that one
This is amazing to hear. I watched this movie a few years ago and I was shocked and rather heartbroken that here they have the legendary Gene Kelly dancing in roller skates and he only gets a few quick shots! He should have been the feature of that number!
So, Gene Kelly was nearly 68 when they filmed this. An incredible talent and a great skater. He was reported to be upset that they didn’t show him full length in the shots as he did his own skating. Who can blame him ! And then we have Olivia Newton John. Just the best talent, and beautiful person inside and out. She couldn’t ever sing a wrong note and her tone was perfect. A tough time, she had with her health, but she did so much good with it, and I’ll love her forever. #loveyouolivia

This came up on my suggestion feed… I don’t think Jeff Lynne gets enough credit for this masterpiece of a song. The writing and production of the song is on another level. To have Olivia Newton-John sing it, is absolute perfection. This video is so loaded with old Hollywood star power. It’s perfection. No other word(s) can describe it
Have you heard the version of this song by ELO without Olivia? I lacks so much cheerfulness!
@@Fancylooks yes, I have… it definitely has more of a rock sound to it.
Oh my days, I forgot this was an elo number but now I come to think of it?
Jeff may have looked a bit like Chewbacca back in his hey day but damn, what a composer.
It's too bad ELO and Olivia Newton John didn't collaborate more. Her voice and their sound are very complimentary.
RIP Olivia Newton John
She passed away recently
RIP Olivia. I remember hearing “If Not For You” on the radio back around 1974 and thought, what a voice. What a song. Then I saw a picture of you and thought, wow. Her face matches her voice, beautiful. Thanks for everything.
You’re a legend. You will never be forgotten….EVER.
This film has never had the praise it deserves.
The energy it this sequence is incredible, I expect when the clapper said CUT, they were all hugging eachother in delight.
And God bless all the departed too....such beautiful people all of you
Good God, Olivia is mind numbingly GORGEOUS!
Was about to post the same. Unbelievably stunning with the most gorgeous , radiant smile.
She’s a great illustration of “Star Quality”. It’s hard to define but you know it when you see it.
She was the "PERFECT" woman back in the 80's
If u c her now she's the same like in the 80s
Unfortunately, you don't see her that much in this video.
That production is phenomenal. So many talented people all doing their thing for the show. It is actually quite brilliant.
It is good, but the mimes are going to give me nightmares.
Mimes visit in your sleep because silence comes naturally to them.@@kelperdude
She'll never be forgotten, love all her songs saw her back in 1984
No! They cut it off before the end where she hits that really breathy high note that just floats away like magic. That always sends me somewhere amazing!
We moved to LA. in '77 because my mom was doing a sitcom and I remember going to Universal Studios in '80 the week this premiered. It was the first time I heard this song - in the trams, which were wall to wall advertisements for the movie with the radio spot looping. Two days after it came out, the Calendar section of the Sunday L.A. Times ran a full page review under the title "XANADONT". I was 9 but still thought that was hilarious. Remember that like it was yesterday.
I ended up not actually seeing this movie until 5 years ago. I've no idea why. So embarrassing and funny to me. But it's now one of my all time favorite movies and my favorite musical - right there with Streets of Fire and Rocky Horror. I'm so glad we still have Diane Lane but Olivia I miss every day. Just one of the two sweetest most gracious stars I've ever met. Jane Seymour being the other. If there's a heaven, Olivia is in the top floor penthouse singing to the angels. I'm as sure as I can be of that.
I don't care what anyone says...if I ever win the lottery, I'm going to recreate this scene at least once.
I'm already living in it
can i join?
I'll join y'all too. Sounds fun
@@xaniiu the crazy part is, it’s a place where nobody dared to go.. but now that I’m here,
Now that you're near ..
do it
Rest in peace Olivia, one of the most talented beautiful godesses who graced our lives. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
In three years, 13M viewers for a movie from 1980...WOW
Miss ONJ ❤
Fueron mis años mágicos, llenos de fantasías y sueños, sin malicia era puro sentimiento
Gene Kelly, Olivia and Michael Beck. What a marvelous movie. Saw it when I was a kid. It Will be always in my heart ❤❤❤
Somewhere in an alternate universe this is still happening.
In Heaven there is a club like this.
I hope so.
Or in some alternate universe we are happening.
i hope I’ll be there one day.
@@emilywerner3930 mee too!!!
Finally got around to watching this movie and WOW was it good! The entire opening night just lights you up with joy and I literally watched this one scene alone like three times xD
The funny thing is, the movie maybe good or bad. But most people only know the place Xanadu from the movie. The vast majority have no idea what Xanadu really is. Thats the real achievement of Barry and Olivia.
Yeah, her hair was basically perfect. She was so stunning. Stunning!
Descanse em paz, Olivia...sempre em meu coração.
One of the most amazing scenes to ever come out of Hollywood. The sheer talent and choreography here was unprecedented, and unfortunately never received the recognition it deserved. A joyful peek in to a happier more colorful era.
Giusto
Super Cheesy ! 🕺
To each his own
It was shit.. maybe that's why...
That’s because the cinematography of the whole movie sucks ass, especially in this scene.
This makes me sorely miss my childhood and those I love who are no longer here today ❤🥲
3:34. Pure beauty, charm and class. I was ten years old when I saw this and my heart burst when I saw Olivia Newton John do this number. RIP, sweet siren.
I love when technical “flops” become classics in later years ! This is one of my FAVORITES
Hello 👋 Kristina
How are you doing today?
Doubt anyone considers it a "classic" unless smaltzy overdone piffle is a classic.
@@goittoog7563 lol okay that’s your opinion ! It’s fairly popular now
I’m having a 50th birthday party and we’re skating to this at an actual rink. Sooo excited!!
@@bonniemartell9750 that is so awesome ! I would love to do that ! Have an amazing time and happy 50th birthday 🥳
Thank you, Olivia, for the beautiful moments, for the magnificence and the voice! Rest in peace, undeniably wondrous angel!
RIP Olivia Newton-John. Beautiful woman and beautiful voice! One of the best! 🙏
From 1980! And actually, roller-skating is back in a big way!! Yay!! 🛼🛼😀
These huge choreographed productions with this level of talent will never happen again. That's more talent packed into 6 minutes than has come out of Hollywood in the past 20 years.
I agree!
We can hope.
The cinematographer should've been let go. Too many wide shots, he could've utilized talent with rising crane shots, more black and better rollers, and Autrey tried excitement Mr. Warriors was ill-cast for this, but tis 1980...
@@pjangels609 Racist.
We really just regurgitate things now- when was the last Christmas song written? 90s? It’s like creativity is dying! Music is terrible, movies are pc garbage- it’s sad!
The choreography is absolutely stunning in the video!
RIP beautiful lady you might be gone but you’ll never be forgotten you’ll live with us forever xx
to folks living in the 80s, the 40s were as old to them as the 80s are to us today...WOW!!!!😲😲😲😲😲
Yet somehow the 80's seemed like they were only 20 years ago...
Indeed, now we know how Mr. Gene Kelly felt by then, LOL.
@Cockney Nutjob Cockney, any advice for us millennials?
@@TheOnlyPommyman 20 years ago? more like 20 minutes

Such a beautiful lady with an amazing voice RIP Olivia & Freddie, 2 legends can just see them now in heaven reflecting on this film.
what`s past, is what which do not feel cringe and at the same time with a strange but yet pleasant fragrant and joy!!
I think my favorite part is how seriously all of the dancers/skaters/background performers did this. They gave it their all!
Nobody slacked when Gene Kelly was watching.
