    I agree with Stark as ENTP but remain skeptical about Captain America as ISFJ. I do agree that SJ is the temperament to focus on.
    Love the series you’re doing.

      Would it not make sense to use the characters to foil each other by making them complete opposite types. That's where the conflict comes from I suppose, the contrasting views of an ISFJ and an ENTP leading to civil war.

    • @jonathancampbell5231
      @jonathancampbell5231 4 місяці тому +2

      @@thatpersonalityguy Well, to be fair, we're not saying that the writers deliberately set out to write an ENTP and an ISFJ (or that they even know what those even "are"), we just think these are the types these characters most resemble.

    • @thatpersonalityguy
      @thatpersonalityguy 4 місяці тому +1

      @@jonathancampbell5231 yes but, as you've agreed, Stark seems to be ENTP, so it would make sense that they choose to write a character who is most opposing, for like, contrast and tension etc. Hence why they have such different approaches in civil war

    • @jonathancampbell5231
      @jonathancampbell5231 4 місяці тому +1

      @@thatpersonalityguy Well, also keep in mind, they weren't designed to be opposing rivals from the outset; that developed gradually over several movies, and if you know what went on behind the scenes at Marvel Studio's you'd know a LOT of these movies were made up on the fly or plans were changed in the middle of things. Even "Civil War" was made in part just because studio execs heard that Warner Bros was making a Batman v Superman movie, not because they'd been planning it years in advance.

      @@jonathancampbell5231 Oh absolutely. Things change a lot. Especially with comics-based stuff, you have so many different writers all trying to portray the same hero over long periods of time, each with their own take and interpretation. So with a lot of characters, there are several different variations of personality in source material to choose from.

    The typing is exactly what I thought of these characters for years. It's just right.

    Captain America was a bit harder to find clips for that showed his personality more clearly, but Tony I could've done all day. Difference is Tony is meant to change and be challenged, while Steve is meant to be more of a fixed moral point, perhaps...

      Don't know if it was intentional but the "I could do this all day" reference was hilarious

    Joyce, I just LOVE your videos. I am an INFJ who is really frustrated with the lack of opportunity to use Ni for the benefit of group morale. I brainstorm and whittle down options with NI and then chart the course, manifesting the goal through Te, maybe? Wenzes calls this manifesting using Se. What is it? Could you ask a panel of INFJs about manifesting using Te or Se? How is NI expressed when we engage in our Fe, not Fi? I offer my Ni process to Te commanders so my Fe group morale is improved. Is that right? One on one is somewhat effective if I am representing a cause with others, but just not enough for me to “change the world.” Could you offer a video to explore these functions in the INFJ? Thanks so much if you can.

    I'm sad that I missed the course! If you're still doing this series, would you ever want to do the BTS members? I have thoughts about their types, but I would rather hear what the professional have to say.

    To type superheroes is pointless. Yes it brings forth some discussion points but in the end superheroes are 2-3 types in one. With all their best qualities.

    • @thatpersonalityguy
      @thatpersonalityguy 4 місяці тому +2

      I disagree here, superheroes act as extremely exaggerated examples of MBTI types a lot of the time, which is useful for referencing what a personality type looks like, rather than having to look at real people who are a lot more nuanced. Tony Stark symbolises not only the Ne-Ti innovative strengths of an ENTP but also their Si flaws. I mean most ENTPs are able to look after themselves, but Tony is completely helpless at Si, being completely dependent on other people to deal with that stuff for him, so the strengths AND weaknesses are exaggerated.

      @@thatpersonalityguy Thank you for your perspective. Like I said it brings forth some discussion points, and I agree about the exagguration. However I do not think exagurration gives more clarity. Some exagurration such as in maybe fictional characters (that depicts normal people) may work. But with superheroes it is too much exagguration and it goes beyond being useful as case-examples. Because the strengths go beyond the frame of one type alone. It spreads over at least 2-3 types and becomes too unrealistic to even work as a discussion point. Maybe there are some examples that are better than others. But as a rule I think it only serves to confuse people more than clarify. But if it works for you than fair play.

    Can you please do Batman. It has been said that he is INTJ but there are many augments that is for him being INFJ especially the Batman in the latest movies. I think that would help many people like myself who is on the fence about INFJ or INTJ.

    i skipped through and only watched your discussion parts because i literally just watched the first two iron man movies. and i can say with 100% certainty that tony is an Se dom. to say anything else is to completely undermine the definition of Se. i’m assuming you haven’t seen the movies in full if you’re confidently calling tony an ENTP. i see that another commenter said that typing superheroes is pointless because they’re really a mix of multiple types. obviously it’s not pointless; you’re doing it for fun and to help people understand functions. but they might be onto something with the second part of their statement. i think their point, at least in part, is that no ENTP would have an Se functioning at a dominant level, as tony so clearly does. no ENTP could not just achieve-but constantly maintain-such perfect control of their body and everything that extends from it, or manage the sensory with such effortlessness, grace, and perfect attunement that nothing catches them off guard. whenever tony is in a big crowd with seemingly everything going on at once around him, he manages the simultaneous conversations, people and things to attend to, and overall commotion with ease. whenever he’s fighting, his suit and weapons are simply an extension of him. his aim is perfect, his awareness of every single person and thing in his environment never falters, and he is so IN his body that literally everything he does is spot on. he thinks on his feet at a level that ONLY Se doms can achieve, and he ultimately wins every fight and comes out victorious because of his innate ability to interact with everything in real time faster and with more prowess than all opponents. his mastery of and absolute comfort with multitasking is through the roof, and his comfort with physical danger-knowing his limits and having a sixth sense for what he can afford to risk-is once again not something achievable by any type other than an Se dom. and while he is an engineer and a physicist-two fields stereotypically associated with high Ne users-he ONLY comes up with ideas in order to immediately implement them himself in reality. Ne is an idea and concept generating machine. it generally leaves implementation to others and prefers to work on the ideas end of things. tony only seeks out an idea or solution if he intends to execute said idea or solution himself immediately after he comes up with it. and he doesn’t come up with any more ideas or solutions than he needs. he uses his internal database of knowledge (Ti) to mentally build and refine a single new idea (Ni/Ti), which he then executes himself using tools and the physical technology that he himself created to bring the idea to fruition in the physical world (Se/Ti). he then immediately uses the new creation, even before it’s been fully tested or vetted by his machines, because he cannot wait to act. you literally cannot tell me that that is the definition of an Ne dom rather than an Se dom. i’d bet my life on it.

      He lets his AI do a lot of the work when it comes to piloting and shooting, and before and after he donned the Iron Man suit his main interests were partying and inventing things and exploring new ideas. He actually spends a great deal of time creating new and often useless tech in the 3rd movie as a way of dealing with his mounting anxiety, and he prefers to let other people take charge and run things while he develops new inventions. I think he's a Creative ENTP with some more pronounced Se that is mostly due to his particular experiences, and is sometimes just his AI helping him out.
