Hmmm. This is definitely one in case in which... Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and... Wonder Woman, for me. She absolutely paved the way for female super heroes and continues to be a world-wide recognizable force.
@@oldmanbiscuit7518 Circe, Ares, Hercules count? For Wonder Woman, while she may not have the Rogues Gallery as some of the others, I think that's at least in part due to her initially being a WW II Hero, followed by a television series that, much like the Incredible Hulk's, didn't focus upon supervillains but rather "real life" encounters and villainy. I'm just saying that Iron Man to me represents recency bias.
@@brentwerley6762 My point is, she just dosnt sell. Even at the height of her popularity(T.V) the books weren't selling. She's not a powerhouse even though she's marketed as one. People know her sure, but if you went outside and asked a normal person "what would be the rushmore?", it would be batman, superman, spiderman, and the fourth sport would be Ironman,Captain America or Wolverine. Wonder woman is usually an afterthought. She's Aquaman or Green Lanturn grade.
@@oldmanbiscuit7518 I definitely get your points. It'd be interesting to do such a poll. @@brentwerley6762 the reason why it's all white men is because comics were created by white men and white men are the main demographic. Exactly I mean he put Black Panther in there that debuted in FF... putting the Thing or the Human Torch as a FF representative was an easy 4th or 3rd pick.
it should be the hulk, tbh. he became internationally famous after the 70s TV show, and then the animated series came. there was literally no kid who weren't a fan of the hulk, everyone liked him. from the 70s to 2012, the hulk was one of the three faces of marvel. his comics were incredibly sold, just look at planet hulk and world war hulk. immortal hulk was literally the only thing from the all new all different era which people liked and cared to read lol.
That guy was everywhere to. Even on 1 of the old attractions in Australia before Ironman was well known. The 2 characters on the billboard was Spiderman and Hulk. Enough said.
@@ppgod6989you could argue the DCEU versions of Batman and Superman weren’t very faithful to their characters either but the movies didn’t stop them from being iconic superheroes.
I wonder how the landscape would look like if Wonder Woman got an animated show like Batman and Superman did. That aside, it really has to be Wolverine over Ironman.
That fourth slot has to be either wolverine or Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman because she is the embodiment of female empowerment in comics, there is no female heroes without her. She’s basically the Superman of female heroes. And than you have wolverine the 2nd most popular marvel hero and the most popular x-men member
Female empowerment is not a quality same as spider-man being teenage boy empowerment is not a quality. Wonder woman sucks as a character anyways. She’s very sexist in the comics and it was even worse in the early comics, she’s also kinda a worse superman and she never takes the unbiased side of a conflict even tho she’s supposed to represent law and justice. She-hulk is a better Wonder Woman than Wonder Woman is. She represents law and justice in a better way, she was actually likeable in the comics and she was a very strong and intelligent and witty female character in almost all of her comics. Wonder Woman doesn’t compare. Wonder Woman just isn’t a good example and was never as possible as Wolverine neither.
I’d lean on Hulk too because then it gives Marvel 2 iconic characters to go along with DC’s 2 icons. That and the Hulk was probably Marvel’s most famous character for decades next to Spider-Man (before the MCU too)
It's 100% Wonder Woman. I honestly didn't even have to think about it. Diana is one of the most influential fictional women ever, and is a role-model for countless feminists across the world. There's no way we could have an all-time superhero Mount Rushmore without including at least one superheroine. Every-day people refer to women as their "Wonder Woman" for being their hero the same exact way someone would say: "You're my Superman!" I'll give you a perfect example on why it's undoubtedly Wonder Woman-When was the last time you heard anyone singing "the Wolverine theme song?" Or "the Iron Man theme song" (although I have to admit the 60s Iron Man theme song is an underrated gem)? If we could put entire teams on here, the X-Men and Avengers would be up there, no question, but I wouldn't say a single member of those teams is as monumental as Wonder Woman. And for a "Mount Rushmore," the term "monumental" is key. Think of it this way-The Superhero Mount Rushmore could easily just be the most recognizable individual superhero theme intros, and it would be the Superman 40s intro, the Batman 60s intro, the Spider-Man 60s intro, and the Wonder Woman 70s intro. It's Wonder Woman, guys. She was so insanely ahead of her time.
I feel bad for Kamala Khan, her 2014-2015 comic run was genuinely a good read and had pretty decent sales but ever since the Secret Invasion 2015 event put their titles on hold, being overexposed and the disaster that was Civil War II, Marvel is struggling to make the character come close to the success she had early on.
@nothingisitchingme5874 There were enough who liked her to make her 2014-2015 series decent sales for a brand new character, it was only after Marvel overexposed her post Secret Wars 2015 and her out of character moments outside her title hurt the character appeals, which I already pointed in my previous comment. Not my fault you can’t read.
I have 3 heroes for my 4th member of mount rushmore. First Wonder Woman. She was the first female superhero and paved the way for other female superheroes and continues to be a world-wide recognizable force. Second Wolverine. He is by far the most popular X-men and he was still very popular in the 2000's. Third Iron Man. He started the MCU and after that became one of the most popular characters. And he truly had a good character arc.

@@hungryalmighty7156 True but the problem with Hulk and Flash is that they only had 1 movie. And Hulk's was already not that popular. And in recent years the raging monster Hulk has taken a backseat. It's easily Wonder Woman imo. Characters like Wolverine and The Hulk are massive, but Wonder Woman is still a top 5 iconic Superhero simply by her name alone. She paved the way for female heroes in the genre and she is quite frankly a contender for the single most iconic female fictional character of all time. She may not be insanely popular nowadays, but she still is popular and iconic. Easily fits the spot the best imo.

HARD disagree about the Fantastic Four not having a stand out member. Human Torch and Thing stand far above the other two characters in terms of popularity. Demand for a Human Torch solo series was so high during that era that he took over Strange Tales for a few years. The Thing has also just always stood above the rest of the team in terms of popularity and that's reflected in the book as he begins to get more screen time the deeper in you go. I think there's a case for one of them to be on the Silver Age Mt. Rushmore over Hulk since Hulk wasn't an instant success but The FF just is the silver age incarnate. The early Hulk installments struggled to find an audience and his status quo varied from issue to issue as Lee and Kirby struggled to find something that worked. Hulk really gained popularity more in the bronze age. That's just like my opinion though.
Could be I was the right age at the right time, but I had a MASSIVE admiration for the Thing. For me he represented all the awkward, ugly guys finally getting their chance to shine. Ben's fight against the Champion was one of very few times any work of literature got my eyes watery. The Thing *has* to be on the mountain.
I'd have Wolverine as the forth. For me it would have to be one of the X-men and Wolverine is the most popular. We had the explosion of X-Men comics in the 80's followed by the cartoon that changed the way superhero cartoons were made if not cartoons in general. And then it was X-men that really started the comic book movie boom of the 2000's. All the movie studios have said that X-men was the movie that made them believe in comic book movies mainly because of the effects. You had guys flying, shooting ice and fire, running through walls and people saw that and thought that cinema was finally ready to have all the heroes on the big screen. And that ushered in a new generation of comic book readers. So for me it's Wolverine.
Just putting it out there: Batman the animated series is both better, had a stronger impact, and holds up better to this day across the board. X-Men the animated had a big effect also, but NGL, there's a a lot of talking down that just comes from the X-Men franchise and from the show runners specifically that keeps it back and that Batman the animated series and subsequent DCAU shows just didn't have as consistently. Also, the last season of X-Men shifting production to the Philippines and the weird visual drop.

Other contenders from Batman are Scarecrow, Ras al Ghoul, Deathstroke and Penguin, but the second stands out the most. Besides that we have Magneto or Apocalypse from X men. If we go deeper into Spidey we have Sandman, Doc Ock and Venom, which are all top contenders. The only other two that are remarkable are Darkside and Thanos. I would say that number 3 spot goes to Thanos, simply because of his popularity from Infinity war, which got its foundation from the Infinity gauntlet comic run. The 4th spot is for me a toss up between Lex or Darkside, as both are very impactful, but in very different ways. Darkside hasn’t received a lot of love recently, but every scene he is in he dominates ridiculously. Lex on the other hand is always a signal that something long and outstanding will happen over time and that he will always create an interesting plot point or twist. I think I will go with Lex as he has had more scenes and more exposure to the overall media as Darkseid, and he is a way more interesting foil to Superman than Darkside, which has overlapping elements with Thanos. I think it fits quite well like this, we have a genius who is the complete opposite to Superman in body and mind and has to make up with his human intellect and resources. Similarly we have Green goblin who is just as mad as intelligent, but also on the same level as Spider-Man. Joker needs no explanation and Thanos, who has a super mad and utilitarian plan to bring order, while also simultaneously being in love with death.

The Shadow was THE #1 most popular superhero of the 1930's to 1950's and his popularity left a massive impact on all no power superheroes that came afterwards (Batman even plagiarized a The Shadow story for his first appearance comic and started out as being nothing more than a ripoff of The Shadow). EX: The Shadow's nickname was "The Knight of Darkness", The Shadow used Yellow Bat shaped boomerangs, The Shadow used duo guns (Batman as well in his early comics), The Shadow had a villain called "The Grim Joker" who was a clown themed mafia guy that killed people with toxic laughing gas, etc The Shadow was a superhero every 50 year old adult to 100 something year old knew and loved.
@@Chckster The only reason why that's the case was The Shadow stopped getting shows/movies by the 1950's and had to solely rely on his pulps/comics to maintain an audience. Popularity is fleeting. Most people don't even remember the names of popular actors from the 1930's. If Batman stopped getting Movies/shows/games, his fanbase would die out too in 60-80 years. Making him a forgotten "has been" no one gives a shit about because they don't read books. Hell in the 1980's before the 1st Tim Burton Batman film, even Moon Knight was selling better than Batman comics. Nobody really gave a shit about Batman until that Tim Burton film. Most people saw him as a "bad movie" joke character thanks to the Adam West series.

The big 3 are givens. Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man. That last one i would give to either Wonder Woman or Wolverine.
Batman superman wonderwoman and spiderman😊
Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Hawkwoman, Storm, Jean Grey, Elektra and now Harley Quinn.
Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Black Widow, and Invisible Woman.
Wonder Woman, Storm, Black Widow, Catwoman/Black Canary
It's 100% Wonder Woman. I honestly didn't even have to think about it. Diana is one of the most influential fictional women ever, and is a role-model for countless feminists across the world. There's no way we could have an all-time superhero Mount Rushmore without including at least one superheroine. Every-day people refer to women as their "Wonder Woman" for being their hero the same exact way someone would say: "You're my Superman!"
I'll give you a perfect example on why it's undoubtedly Wonder Woman-When was the last time you heard anyone singing "the Wolverine theme song?" Or "the Iron Man theme song" (although I have to admit the 60s Iron Man theme song is an underrated gem)?
😂😂😂😂😂are you serious? That character absolutely sucks, nobody likes Ms.Marvel hahahahah 😂😂 haha good one!

Ww clearly wins by a mile
@@hungryalmighty7156 True but the problem with Hulk and Flash is that they only had 1 movie. And Hulk's was already not that popular. And in recent years the raging monster Hulk has taken a backseat.
The channel gave a wonky history to a few different eras and books... I'd go with Thing personally...

Ben's fight against the Champion was one of very few times any work of literature got my eyes watery. The Thing *has* to be on the mountain.
Biased take as expected. Nobody gives a f about fantastic 4 individual characters
Also Wolverine effect. When he become so popular that he was featured in every comic run.

Someone I'm shocked actually doesn't show up is Jessica Cruz from DC for the Post-Modern Era, outside of Hal Jordan due to being Evergreen, she's started to become DC's go to Green Lantern, for what, 11 years of service since her first appearance, she's appeared as a main character in her own comic run, at least two animated movies, and a popular member of the DC Super Girls show, which really out competes say Silk for the fourth spot.
Also, Evergreen, that is really the term you've been looking for towards the end, Transformers fans coined it to being the eternal version of that character, and yeah, that describes how all we're getting now is rehashing of the same names and stories as they're the money makers.

it's wonder woman
people are thinking who is currently more popular rather than who has had the most impact on not just the industry but pop culture as a whole like Superman/Batman/Spiderman
while iron man is the face of the MCU, his popularity is declining due to being out of the MCU for over half a decade now. He doesn't really have relevancy on the level of Superman/Batman/Spiderman outside the MCU.
also it's not about "being even" or saying DC is better than Marvel or Marvel is better than DC. Some people are only choosing Ironman or Captain America because they want 2 marvel characters and to make it "even", but the reality is that they were not big characters until the last decade. Superman/Batman/Spiderman have always been popular, relevant and icons even outside the comic medium
Wonder Woman has been the leading lady in comics since her inception, she is know by you own grandmother and she is the first character people think when you say "female superhero". She will probably always hold that status for as long as comics exist too and I don't see that changing.
user-iohj91p2d your argument is so flawed . When ww has a few more movies under belt as well as multiple video games , merch sales and solo animated projects we can talk . The fact even before hulk and wolverine were bigger than ww and after films last decade cap ironman and thor made more of a cultural dent through movies and ensemble movies. I was gonna get mad about Batman Beyond losing to Jessica Jones, but then you clarified they were made for the TV Shows, not the comics... So okay, reasonable.
Jessica Jones started in comics long before the Netflix show came about. She was introduced in November of 2001 in a series called Alias, which had the misfortune of having the same name as a TV series that came about at the same time.
@@gregbasore2108 21:01 we're in agreement. Batman Beyond and X23 were what this was in reference to. Not the Netflix show.
@@crazyJman80 Ah, right I see what you mean now.
To me, it makes sense to include super hero/villain characters that originate in other media on lists like these, so long as they stick around after being introduced into the comics.
By the logic used to exclude Terry's Batman and X23, a Mount Rushmore of female superheroes couldn't include the Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl, who was created at the request of the people making the '60s show with Adam West.

While I love Wolverine Wonderwoman was a major influence on not just comic books but pop culture she’s one of the first woman superheroes and did “strong female character” before it was cool. While Captain America was a great influence on WW2 not only did Wonder Woman influence ww2 woman front atleast to my knowledge but it also inspired many female comic book reader and is so legendary she is considered the big three in dc comics with Superman and Batman.
again wonderwoman simply not popular enough as a hero being the first woman superheroe argument and anyone through her favor . when has been successful in her solo comics ? when has successful exposure of solo video games or animated series even her films outside 2017 wonderwoman were disasters , if claim to fame for wonderwoman she is a woman deserves spot that does account the legacy of media and cultural impact beyond gender

@harryrao4296 I can't say since I've personally always been more of a marvel fan than DC and I was really young at the time. ....Shouldn't "The Shadow" be considered as the final member of the "Superhero Mount Rushmore"?
The Shadow was THE #1 most popular superhero of the 1930's to 1950's and his popularity left a massive impact on all no power superheroes that came afterwards (Batman even plagiarized a The Shadow story for his first appearance comic and started out as being nothing more than a ripoff of The Shadow).
EX: The Shadow's nickname was "The Knight of Darkness", The Shadow used Yellow Bat shaped boomerangs, The Shadow used duo guns (Batman as well in his early comics), The Shadow had a villain called "The Grim Joker" who was a clown themed mafia guy that killed people with toxic laughing gas, etc
The Shadow was a superhero every 50 year old adult to 100 something year old knew and loved.
Theres a reason this character is best well known as the thing that inspired Batman
@@RamsTheNameCom All this, yet you still haven't denied him being better remembered as Batman's inspiration.
No matter what you say it is a fact he is remembered as Batman's inspiration, nothing you say can change that fact. Likewise, I think, a character who is best remembered as an inspiration (By those who even remember him) doesn't belong on any rushmore.
@@Chckster Isn't Mount Rushmore a tribute to "The Founding Fathers"?
Shouldn't "The Founding Fathers of Comics" be the characters that had the biggest impact in inspiring the foundation for superheroes as a whole?
Stuff like Will Eisner's "The Spirit" who revolutionized the way comic books were drawn/written.
He's known as "The Citizen Kane" of comic book heroes, because all future comic books took heavy inspiration from how Will Eisner wrote/drew those comics.
They even named the comic book awards after Will Eisner.
The Shadow was the #1 first popular mainstream superhero.
Before him, superheroes weren't widely known to the public. Only comic readers knew about them.
