John GREAT VIDEO! I am writing to share 1 more thing with your followers...My Giulia has 53000 miles on the 2.0 MULTIAIR TURBO and I have driven it hard everyday all day in -30C and +30C. It shares the same powertrain as your STELVIO in the video...anyway the first thing I did when I got my car is replace the OE SPEC VARTA batter and installed the MOPAR PERFORMANCE PRO OEM GEL replacement....the 2nd thing i did from day 1 is turn off my start stop function...to anyone that will listen that function does more harm to your batter and your engine components than anything else you could ever do to your vehicle....TRUST me WHEN I SAY TURN IT OFF everytime you START UP AND GO and you will notice your car will run much much better with a stronger batter that will last you 7 years!

Thank you for these very simple but important instructions . These batteries are very prone to give up though. I found the Stelvio to be the most reliable car I got in my life (Mercedes E, S, multiple Porsche 911 including turbo) and I'm at my second Stelvio, a Quadrifoglio now. Only thing in the Quad they changed the battery under warranty, still MOPAR but different, now it's a charme.
There is a lot of draw in the batteries especially with the start stop feature at traffic lights. The intelligent battery sensor will show a failure when it reaches 70% of charge capacity. Of course the customer thinks is a huge problem and it may not be so they get the car towed in or bring it into a dealer. There’s a direct relationship between the condition of the battery post continuity and check engine lights. Most of them are false flag events.
Life saver just bought a Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio 2018 with 35k miles, electric throttle control came on after some speeding, did this and it was gone right away, thank you

@@fiatofgreenville oh yes for sure, do you know why the battery keeps dying? I have taken my Alfa Romero to the dealer like 3 times and they keep telling me I need a new battery. I keep paying for a new battery and in less than 6 months, the car is dead again. If you know anything about this.. Thank you much.
Hi Jackie if the battery posts are now clean as you see demonstrated in the video the car should perform perfectly. There’s a couple of things to keep in mind, if you’re finished with the car for the day it may be best to bring the key inside and place it in a cookie tin or something that impedes the signal like an RFID bag. Remember the key is always communicating with the car. There are parasitic losses while the car is it sleep mode. One common error that many new owners make is accidentally leaving the car energized before they depart the car for the night. If you leave the radio on or an interior light typically they automatically turn off within 20 minutes. However if you push the on button on the steering wheel without your foot on the brake it will energize a car and it will not turn off by 12 and that’s the way the battery is drained on many occasions. I have all the same notifications but my car’s motor is shaking really bad. It seems like almost to the point of backfiring. Then it turns off. Any advice?
Does this work to clear the check engine, automatic start/stop unavailable? I only got the check engine after I ran out of gas and got the error electronic throttle control warning light. I got gas, that error when away but the other two didn't and it's not allowing to let me switch into the other modes.
I had a dead battery today and I called the road assistant, then took car to the dealer they said not a battery problem, they did not want to apply the warranty. I told them that stop/start is not working when I tested, and they said nothing to do, that all is fine. Any ideas about it?

I'd checked the all tires pressures and technically no any problem but still the TPMS light is on even after miles of driving.
John do you have any tip or so about Bluetooth, this is the 2nd time that my battery is drained due to the Bluetooth based on some comments I saw in the alfa Romero group. I have to call the road assistance again tomorrow morning.

I have a question that has nothing to do with this . maybe you came across this problem with another stelvio. my rear doors do not lock and the little red light on the buttons for the lock are off . when I press the remote control to lock the car both front doors locked but the back doesnt.
The unlock function is through the electronic control module or brain box in the car.. It’s possible that it may need to be checked and enabled. One thing you could do is check your settings to make sure the trunk opening is set at number four. The second thing would be to change the battery in the key fob which is a CR 2032. Many times you can tell if the battery is bad because it won’t work until you get close to the car. Try these things first before you go to a dealer and spend a bunch of money.
What if they don't clear? I have a 2018 Stelvio, I had to get a jumpstart and have a bunch of codes, and I did the turn on/off thing 10 times and turn the wheel to lock left/right but at parked not driving it.
Hi Kerry, I’m not sure if you actually did the cleaning procedure or if you just turn the car off and on 10 times? I never say to turn the car off and on 10 times, all I say is once you remove the negative ground and then reconnect it you will get a multiple number of codes. Driving the car resets the steering angle sensor so if the car is just sitting and you turning the steering wheel left and right that does not necessarily reset it nor does it reset the camera for Forward collision.

How do you reset the maintenance has expired from infotainment system? I changed my oil myself after the message came up
Typically you have to use the Y-tech FCA scan tool at the dealership. Unfortunately that’s the way they have the software unless you have a more sophisticated code reader it can’t be done.
No need to drive the car in order to cancel the codes. In some cases the car won't let you select drive , so start the car... Full left then right. Engine off....engine on and codes are cancelled. Codes will stay in the memory, but won't effect performance or anything else.
Well, the reason I call for driving it is because of the front camera and forward collision reset. All I know is driving a short distance and turning off / on clears all warnings.
None of this work for mines bout to disconnect the battery
Mines won't go into gear nor allow me to cut it off...
Has to be a false gear box assembly.. do you drive it in manual mode alot ?
@@mtbridingog9083 Alfa romeo towed my 2018 stelvio to the dealer. I had 2 recalls It was all fixed under warranty though. I was surprised Alfa gave me the Giulia loaner it's definitely a fun little car.
@@Reecesavage-Alwayswin mine has like 4 recalls I have a 21 stelvio . But I haven't taken it in because I don't want to wait on my car to be fixed .
@@mtbridingog9083 It took 4 days for mines. Get all the recalls fixed they can bite you in the end.
