    Wowee. Those robots are gonna be an issue. Should be fun spin on things. Looking forward to crafting defenses for that enemy.

    It's cool seeing mods become parts of the game, you guys are really listening to what players are doing and thinking about while playing and I think that's awesome, I can't wait to see how the game continues to develop.

    There are two things that come to mind when playing Rim World.
    1.) Melee/Armor options for our characters? It would make sense, especially considering the lore harbors multiple levels of tech all of which would have different melee weapons and armor respectively.
    2.) While I can absolutely understand the wild west meets some tech feel, could there possibly be a way to get small drones/mini-"tanks"/combat robots? I was originally thinking something along the lines of the Xcom Enemy Unknown vehicles. Kind of simple in design, but have several drawbacks compared to people. Some form of artifact or stealing tech would be needed to acquire a factory to produce them, and these mechanical pieces could be balanced in multiple ways. They may not be affected by terrain when moving (since they have tracks), they could have a fairly large array weapons to mount, but they would be expensive to produce and a pretty late game asset. OR find a way to make their weapon accessibility scale slightly under what your characters are using.

    Psyched for this! And thanks for the heads up on the mod, I actually skipped checking it out because I thought it was just another zombie mod but the fact that they come from the people you have killed is really awesome! also is just one more reason to set up your crematorium :)

    Tynan... love how the game is shaping up... The wood stuff was a great idea, the crematorium also saves me from having to grenade the corpse piles to oblivion. With the trees the area finally looks like an actual live planet, not a barren desert wasteland every time.
    Some ideas: Barricade: It's like reverse-sandbags, give no(or little) cover, you can shoot over them, you can't climb through them. Windows: Same as barricades, but blends with structures. This way you actually could make watchtowers without having to fear that the enemy will enter your base that way. Of course they can snipe your man off, blow it to pieces and still enter, but would tweak it a bit maybe?
    Good work on the centipedes. Ran a normally inpenetrable base to the ground... whoah.

      You don't have to necessarily be a math major to develop games. There are game engines and API's that do a lot of that work for you!

    Would be nice if story tellers got the ability to pick events from mods as well such as that Zombie mod for example.
    About the slag refinery, i think that making it so long to melt down metal is too much. It already takes time to clear those pieces that often serve as cover for raiders so I think it's enough that they don't give much metal as well as pump energy and ocupy one colonist full time. Most players just want a quick way to get rid of occlusion on their colony surroundings as well as recycle destroyed walls and buildings since metal is a finite resource until/unless you get the ability to trade.
    Also, I wanted to thank you for including Fibromyalgia as a condition colonists might have. My GF (which happens to suffer from this too) believes they would be useless in the game but i'm sure there is at least something these colonists could be good at and prove themselves.

    Hey Tynan just wanted to share some things that I wanted your opinion on. I've been playing since pre-alpha and these are just a few of the things I've come up with.
    1. I'd like to see a more diplomatic side to the game other than bribes.
    2. Tribal people being near impossible to recruit is incredibly annoying since I'm a softy and don't like executing them... Especially endgame when selling them just doesn't make sense because you're buying every slave from every slave trader anyways.
    3. Since enemy factions can attack you... why can't we attack them? Yes I do realize the implications of creating an AI who can build a competent colony but maybe this could be a long term goal.
    4. Combat is one of those things that can always get better. I think adding in more static defenses could open up some really cool gameplay (although it seems like this is in the works considering shells and missiles are in the game). I like the addition of individual enemies routing before the entire raiding party does.
    5. Streamlined production amenities. I'd like to be able to assign a cook, and then be able to have the butcher table on a higher priority than the cook stove so that he would butcher animals as they come in rather than letting them rot in the stockpile. Of course you can suspend the cook order but this can be a pain. Maybe there is a way to do this already and I'm just dumb so forgive me if this is the case.
    6. More enemies, the addition of the mechanoids was great. I play most of my games on Cassandra Classic and on my current colony sitting on 350 odd days, I have only faced them one time. I think providing them with a more advanced AI could also be interesting making them a truly dynamic enemy rather than a tank with a incendiary rocket launcher attached.
    7. Wood economy: I've found that I have little to no use for the wood structures as I am either building the metal if I need a wall to conduct power or a Stone wall if I just need something durable. Of course the plank walls conduct electricity but I find that building them is pointless if I have a strong metal reserve and if not I generally wait until I do.
    8. More room for different types of play. To be honest the current "meta" is to dig into the large plateaus or whatever you'd like to call them and then wall off areas to funnel enemies into your turrets or whatever else you have in store for them. Your colony ends up look less like a colony and more like a tribe of cave people with futuristic tech that like to play turret defense games. I'd like to see new styles of play develop where defense is less reliant on funneling the AI into disadvantageous positions (maybe the AI doesn't just skirt around walls).
    9. I love the addition of the slag melter and crematorium. I don't like to use mods when I play most games so I was sticking with the ole pile bodies up in a room and ground fire a molotov on them but I felt a little sick doing that. The slag smelter allows you to continue getting metal from the planet itself even after it is depleted of natural metal.
    10. Stone: I like the addition of the stone wall structure and that it is a required material for some of the new production category amenities but I think it needs more uses. I find that I sometimes end up with 3000 stone bricks sitting in a stockpile with nothing to do with them except rebuild the occasional wall after an attack. Selling them off just isn't satisfying and I think there could be more uses (such as something that provides cover from gunfire other than sandbags).
    11. Explosions: I think that entities such as sandbags and walls should diminish the power of an explosion.
    12. VEHICLES! I would absolutely love to see the addition of vehicles. Things like tanks and technicals would open a whole new can of whoop ass on your colony that would make the game more challenging. It would open the opportunity for the implementation of more weapons such as at guns or missile launchers. Helos and planes are a whole 'nother ball game and I think balancing them could be difficult.
    Maybe a youtube comment is not the best medium to submit my ideas but I figure I'd go for it. I appreciate all the work you've put into its game and it has really turned out well. Well done and thanks for creating a game that is fun, challenging (on randy random at least) and has lots of replay-ability.

    this game is so amazing even at the current alpha state, which is pretty limited... but man, it filled that sweet spot of a cool futuristic and simple but fun Dwarf Fortress game.

    This looks sick! A couple questions: Will saves carry over or will we need to start new ones? Also, is the zombie apocalypse mod compatible with Alpha 4? I'm doing videos on it and want to cover both.

      Saves wfrom earlier versions will not work. The zombie mod has a compatible version but Justin needs a day or so to release it.

    This game looks REALLY neat. Is it fun as it is now? Can I build a base and turrets and get to a point where I'm not struggling for resources, or are resources finite and scarce?

    3:30 when you cremate a body it should produce 1x Ash/Potash, which could be used to fertilize your crops :D

      Endless amounts of urns filling up the map. :P
      It should be doable though. Have corpses as a crafting ingredient, and wood mulch in the original wood mod had a similar effect.

    hey i was wondering if you could make it so instead of map size its a world size thing and make it so the world has sections that you can travel between so large world has 20 or so large sections, medium has 20 medium sections, etc.
    just an idea, you don't have to but i think it would make the game-play more interesting, also the need of water and sunlight being incorporated would be cool

    I would love to see expanded maps with more resources, otherwise, the games going in a good direction. However, im not very good at the game on would love to be able to control thing (in the options) about the game (ie. raider frequency, insanity threshold etc.)

      You could use a more relaxed storyteller, perhaps? That affects raider frequency.

      Tynan Sylvester I have done that, but in my experience, Phoebe is not very good at sending more raiders later in the game and scaling difficulty.

    Do you still have plans to overhaul the artwork? Not that I don't like this style, but I remember reading somewhere that the current game art was essentially placeholder art until you could find someone to create something more unique to RimWorld. Love this game! And these videos, by the way!

    Im really intered in this game, liked the idea of a futuristic sandbox game, but one thing i think would make the game cooler would be able to craft armor of some sort or even traps ( like mines or bear traps) also a good idead would be for crafting tools to make mining or building faster, but mines are much cooler hehehe

    Tynan I just downloaded the latest version of alpha 4 which adds a new time speed but there is no option or way of activating it.

    I know that you probably already have a plan but...Can the next build have more defense options? My grat colony Is getting it defenses destroyed with each attack, the turrets aren't very effective leter game and my guys even all equiped with M-24 can't do much againts a swarm of enemies.
    Also. an option to recicle weaponds to get metal.

    Ya, raiders get 800-hp Centipede with big gun, what we get this time? wooden walls?! I am glad this is still in Alpha.
    In my Tough Kassandra game, I can manage to survive the first wave of 3 Centipedes sent towards my 7-colonist town. But later on, 6 Centipedes dropped directly in to my base! Seriously?

    Question: If you release this on steam, will you utilise the steam workshop? (steamcommunity.com/workshop/ for more info if you are not familiar with it)
    More importantly, will people who have already bought the game, receive a steam key as well? Or will it be separate purchase?

    Log cabin and solar panel :) its a bit of an odd mix. needs some kind of more basic power generation. Like i dont know, stone furnace? burn coal, wood. steam power with water ?.

      Tynan Sylvester Is there any estimate time for when it'll be on Steam. I believe the game would benefit greatly if it did as soon as possible. Like I said in one of my previous comments, I would not had known this game even existed if it weren't for UA-cam's recommended videos tab.
