I usually have 1 person hauling full time late game to help with moving things around. How about a tool that designates items as a higher priority hauling target. So they dont just haul the 5 stacks of potatoes after they've been harvested and instead hauls the steel that i've designated with the tool thats at the edge of the map.
I'd like an option to have friendly chat with neutral people visiting your colony, and an option to try to recruit them. That way you can increase the colony population without angering factions, buying slaves, or recruiting pirates.
This is incredible work! This game is already one of my all time favorites and you're making it better and better. This might actually become the ultimate gaming experience. Thanks for that (and sorry if i'm over-enthusiastic but this game deserves it)
Great idea. Some people would hate eachother and cause problems while other people that like eachother would work better together and have a higher chance of having a nice convo and feeling good. So much potential with this game...seriously.

New Rimworld alpha. this just made my day. something I thought about when you were talking about the two ages, what if you could put someone to sleep in a cryopod if say they had an injury that you couldn't fix (ie a broken arm) and you had to wait to buy a bionic arm. Or maybe you just want to save people for later because you don't have enough food to feed them all. Perhaps the pod would have to be powered as well. So if your power went out the people would suddenly be woken up with perhaps a chance of health problems because of the sudden defrosting.

Instead of just crafting beer at a bench I think they hops should be set into a barrel and it would have to age for a few months and after the time is done, a colonists gets it out. It could even have a quality system based on the skills of the person brewing it and how long its been aged.
I feel that would be abused. People would create large rooms with a bunch of those barrels, fill them, and then sit and wait, and would sell them off and become super rich. At lest with this system the brewing requires a colonist to be actively brewing it and it would take longer to create vast amounts of beer.

I'm not sure how this would work but I was thinking about the taming of specific wild animals. Possibly wolves and slowly domesticating them, maybe helping hunters or becoming guard dogs. Or maybe camels and horses to use as transportation for larger maps. Just wondering if it would be a good addition to the game.
I would be cool if there could also be problems with peoples chronological ages. Like someone with a chronological age of several thousand years might develop a medical problem due to how long they were in or because when they went into cryo sleep the technology to do so wasn't great.
Or do like demolition man. When you come out of cryptosleep you develop a cool awesome skill like knitting. Where do the people of rimworld actually go to the bathroom? Maybe they can start using the seashells.
Well people in Rimworld dont drink water or poop, but think about it... Minecraft, the same... so that will be stressfull if your colonist have to poop... what... sims 4 ?
It would be interesting to have a mechanic where you can build statues honoring fallen colonists, maybe even have a stone version of the colonists themselves.

I hope you will read this Tynan Sylvester but I would really appreciate if you added a ability for colonists to have a melee weapon and a gun equipped at the same time for example: you get into a firefight with your colonists and you send one of the colonists to fight melee normally he would just use his fists but with a knife equipped he would use the knife. Just a small sugestion :)
Robo Gaming Why not? It would work well with the the ps4( considering the entire touchpad thing) and tynan can find some way of optimizing all of the other buttons to do something.
It's a pain for Indie developers to make games on consoles, you need to buy licensing and tools to do it. Also it'd be horrible to control a game like this on console. Remember Civ on console, half of the game removed for simplification.

is there any chance you might add like a trade system that allows random people walking by your colony to buy stuff? theres already sculptures to sell in like a booth or what not, and even alcohol for a tavern and beds i guess also. i feel like a trade system for those wondering around would really broaden up the game because honestly every time i play the game i get to a certain point where it leaves me thinking "ok, what next". after all the research is done and everything is built, theres really nothing else to do except restart another game. rimworld really isnt 1 of those games where ill ever use the spaceship ending. after all the work i put into a colony to be self sufficient, that ending is the last thing id want to do or really ever do because i like seeing my colony thrive. a system in place where you could get some silver without having to mine or trade to ships would really help those areas without a lot of mountains because steel is extremely limited so you go long drawn out minutes and sometimes hours just waiting for a bulk trader to sell you some steel. honestly i dont really see any other point of people wondering into the colony other then cannon fodder for attackers. is a system like this in the works??? is it something youve thought of doing???

It would be great if you make more harder enemies like a giant spider,or a robot that can regenerate his limbs,and random disasters like tsunamis,tornadoes,earthquakes.And also a nuke. (Sorry for my english)
Anyone else wishing that there would be work with caves? I tried hollowing out a spot in the middle of a mountain so I'd have a safe place to build my spaceship but couldn't get a big enough space to actually construct the thing. Just make a system for controlled collapses.
I would much prefer a riot shield than a spherical white orb energy shield. Just doesnt feel like it fits in Rimworlds "wild west" setting. Then again you are the dev, so if you say it fits, i guess we all cant argue with that :p If you just wanted the melee guys to have a chance to reach the battle, you could have given a dodge ranged bonus to the same skill that governs melee combat.
A riot shield would fit in the "wild west" theme? You got to remember, the game is based in 5,500, and the entire orb thing is silly itself, but what else could he do?

This game needs player created and placed land mines and a way to slow down enemies without giving them cover like say, caltrops. I don't see the point of giving them alcohol as any positive effects are negated by hangovers. I like the artwork being more varied and stories being associated with it.

Rotary Saw Say it was a body pile-up issue or terrible living conditions. While he's passed out in the corner happily drunk, everyone else is making him a room and getting rid of the bodies that would've risked snapping him in the first place.
Please make it so that you attract villagers that make sense. A John do Good wouldn't decide to live in my human meat farm/restaurant if there are other choices available to him. It is nigh impossible to find new members for my cannibal utopia..
Plenty of people have voted for it, it just that there is still updates, and bugs. its just that with each new update there is always going to be bugs and he wants it bug free and very polished basically, presentable for steam before he puts it on, steam, i think it is fine to go on steam but he doesn't apparently, anyways until then We'll just have to wait (or buy it its pretty easy :P)

Drinking alcohol makes your body temperature threshold go down, making you feel warm from your own body temperature actually making you colder.
It's a vasodilator which brings blood to the skin surface, where your nerves are, so you feel warm.
Does the effect from the alcohol increase (or decrease) colonists resistance to cold?

Well my colony was recently saved from everyone snapping during a psychic drone when beer rained down in drop pods. This is the best update.

I enjoyed civ revolutions. It was a nice transition and it did not feel watered down.
I have a question on art, when i do small pieces of art it says its like 1700 work amount. Why is that?

There's a mod for it called "Roof Support" that add a cheap support structure to prevent cave in. Hopefully they'll add it into the vanilla game.

Riley Page How is the orb silly? It's just a shield that can be carried. It's not some crazy idea that you could make a magnetic or kinetic shield.

Mostly to save someone from snapping, that way you can get your sober colonists to stabilize the situation while he calms down.

Rotary Saw Say it was a body pile-up issue or terrible living conditions. While he's passed out in the corner happily drunk, everyone else is making him a room and getting rid of the bodies that would've risked snapping him in the first place.

Its on the Steam Greenlight. It cannot get on steam until enough people have voted for it. So obviously not enough people have voted for it.

I heard some where Tynan wants it to be finished before putting it on Steam.
Plenty of people have voted for it, it just that there is still updates, and bugs. its just that with each new update there is always going to be bugs and he wants it bug free and very polished basically, presentable for steam before he puts it on, steam, i think it is fine to go on steam but he doesn't apparently, anyways until then We'll just have to wait (or buy it its pretty easy :P)
