    I was having these twitches since last year on my cheeks, on hands and legs - not at same time though and are random but not consistent. Started adding spinach, carrot, cauliflower, beets and nuts to my oat milk ice cream shake 3 months ago. Now I don't have these twitches. I never googled it because if you google anything it ends up being 'you may have cancer' almost all the f*** time🤣.

    I used to have muscle twitches in my eye and legs, along with muscle cramps in my hamstrings and feet. I tried using oral magnesium, and that helped a bit, but if I took enough to completely alleviate the twitches and cramps, I would get diarrhea. Then I discovered topical magnesium oil. When I first started massaging magnesium oil into my feet, calves, thighs and torso, it burned like hell! It also made me itch so much that I started drawing blood from all the scratching I did. I would have quit, but the cramps and twitching stopped immediately, so I gutted it out and kept using the stuff.
    Luckily, the negative side effects went away after a week or so.
    I found that I could buy magnesium flakes pretty cheaply, and now I make my own magnesium oil by dissolving the flakes in some heated distilled water. I use the oil daily, and haven't had a twitch or cramp in months. I also sleep a lot better, and my mood is much improved.

At this point I think it was a combination of stress, inadequate sleep, eating too many carbs and possibly Covid which I may have had after exposure to a friend who had it. People have to have a proper medical diagnosis and tests if they have spontaneous cramping and random muscle twitching. I think non-benign cramp fasciculation is more common than the medics think. There is also a cross-over with Issac's Syndrome. There is a link to potassium due to it firing up the nerves and it looks like it can make the nerves hyperactive due it controlling in the and out flow.

    For those who eat tofu, this "too much calcium" can bite them. Some brands use calcium salts as coagulating agent. When I ate that somewhat often as I like it in Thai curry, I got the twitch (one eye). Then I saw some makers wisened up to that - I doubt it is coincidence that some makers now use both, calcium and magnesium salts, probably to balance out.
    I also got a twitch when I was taking Resveratrol (as recommended by David Sinclair). Turns out it is a potent polyphenol that may block some mineral absorbtion - too bad he only said he takes it in the morning, but not why, so I was taking it, with food, later in the day. I found a study saying that there should be 2 hours apart from taking that and a meal that's supposed to give you iron (from plants) and other minerals. Well, I haven't bought another box and the twitch (the longest lasting I ever had, many months) is gone, I guess it really was that.

I can’t tell you how many doctors, and how many specialists I talked to and no one had any suggestions for me (except one who gave me restless leg medication even though it was clear to me that wasn’t the issue). All told me it didn’t seem that bad because it wasn’t visible during their consult and told me to come back if it got worse. I was in misery and it HURT. finally a nurse suggested potassium deficiency and suggested I eat more bananas. That helped and was a start. Finally I gave in and tried to find an answer myself. I came across dr berg talking about magnesium deficiency, started taking potassium and magnesium supplements and now it’s GONE. it makes me so angry how badly our medical system is failing us by not addressing diet.

      there is abit of information on reddit about BFS, and Anxiety etc. Im currently having them all over my body, continuous twitching , went doctors today and she told me she doesnt think it's anything like ALS because im evidently anxious and also no weakness dropping things etc. Booked in for bloods and see where I go, but she did mention BFS is harmless. Some report on reddit they can last a few years. I hope you get sorted

    I am given a magnesium IV now when I go to the hospital with an asthma attack. They have found that doing a magnesium drip over 15 minutes to a half hour relaxes the spasms in the lungs. Though one time they pushed the bag in a spam of about 3 minutes because the attack was so bad. I now drink a glass of Calm when my asthma is acting up.

    Hi dr. can you talk about Ulnar nerve entrapment in the elbow.

    • @MrTyymann
      @MrTyymann 3 роки тому +7

      Hi I’m a physical therapist. The ulnar nerve can become compressed in the cubital fossa if the elbow is held in a flexed position for a long time. A big one is holding the arms curled at night when sleeping, you’ll likely wake up with numbness in the pinky. But the nerve can also get irritated in different spots like muscle fascia in the forearm, or Guyons canal in the wrist, which is similar to the “carpal tunnel” where the median nerve gets compressed. The problem could also be contributing from the neck as the ulnar nerve mainly comes from the C8, T1 nerve roots. First just try to avoid holding the elbow bent while sleeping. You may need a splint for this if it’s that bad. Look up an ulnar nerve glide on UA-cam and do a million reps. Massage some of the medial forearm muscles as long as it’s pain free and doesn’t cause numbness (Dr Berg would say massage the OPPOSITE side of pain). Work on grip strength exercises, as the ulnar nerve controls most intrinsic hand muscles. If it persists, see a PT or Chiro for more specifics. You may benefit from a “CT junction manipulation.” Hope this helps. Good luck.

    I get on and off buzzing on the bottom of my feet like intervals for a few seconds on then off at different places, it comes and goes for a few weeks then goes away for a few days, it's sometimes worse at night and sometimes not doing it in the morning, I went to a internal med and they said I have a vitamin D and phosphorus deficiency with a blood test, no diabetes or thyroid issue.Then I went to Neuro and she said it could be something called phantom buzzing from my motorcycle because it vibrates alot, but they did say if I want to do an EMG test to know for sure I could do that, but I haven't done it yet because I'm afraid, also I noticed if I get to much or to little sleep it's worse, and I sometimes get anxiety, I also get random muscle twitches sometimes. My phosphorus was level 2.5 which is borderline, my vitamin D was 29.6
