Having owned an FN2, FK2 and FK8, and going back to FK2 - I can confirm it is indeed the best of the lot.
How come Vs the FK8?
@@NickEnglishPhotography1 FK2 is more hardcore. Seats are better, the plane of the shifter (it's at 45° if that makes sense, compared to horizontal on FK8), suspension is more hardcore. They both have equally dead steering, and independent rear on FK8 makes it more playful and allows more rotation, but the diff on the FK2 feels more aggressive too, so you don't ever feel like you need the rotation when the diff can claw you out of a corner.
Is the size of the car a inconvenient for nimble driving? I own a Ep3 and the FK2 looks too large and heavy.
@@elaxel1469 Not at all. It's long-ish, but certainly not a chore to lug around town/get parked. As for weight - doesn't feel heavy AT ALL.
Re nimble - it’s light years ahead of an ep3. I’ve had mine around millbrook several times with professional instruction and it is incredible what the FK2 can do. I had Dc2 integra for 23 years then went to FK2. Drove the ep3 when it first come out and that was not as good as the Integra.

I bought one of these two years ago after driving around in a crappy old 2006 Type-S (my first car), and honestly it brings me joy still every time I get in it.
Had my FK2 since 2017 and its a great car. Still less than 14,000 miles on mine.
A great car that you don't actually drive, it seems.
😂😂😂😂😂You don’t drive that then!! I had an FN2 from 2015 to 2020 put over 50k on the mileage, engine never skipped a beat, Honda reliability for ya!!😉💯✌🏾

@eventhorizon4795 yeah stock engine but B pipe center section on the exhaust. It's well worth the money binca are asking for it
got one 2 years ago , and there is no going back , might lack the vtec cross over noise but it makes well for it in tge anazing drive it is ,at the track you can toss the back out and it will hold the sway until you are straight and can open full throttle again , its raw and wild thats why i love it and its a keeper .

Graet video of an amazing car, Apart from the type R features, these are seriously practical, room for 4 biggish adults and a masive boot, plus reliablility most companies can only dream of.
De chav it a bit, ditch the stupid R number on the spoiler and the dream sticker, the seatbelt pads can go into the bin too
Would love a fk2 always been out of budget when it came to getting a new car.
I was the proud owner of a ep3 and fn2 both cracking cars.
The premier edition ep3 tho is a gem. Some of these later models were fitted with the jdm k20a engine and the gearbox with the factory lsd so that may be worth checking but either way it’s certainly a proper gem.

Love it! I never liked the 9th gen at first but then its unique looks grew on me, after having some bad luck with a couple of high brand cars and losing a lot of money I was lucky to come across a low milage 9th gen civic black edition and bought it, I absolutely love it ( to my surprise lol ) so I would Love to own the type R version in 9th gen form ❤

Hi Calvin, if you have a track nearby it would be good to see you doing lap times in the cars your testing. Straight line acceleration is good and all that but handling also plays a major factor in a cars total performance. Lap time leaderboard like Top Gear… ;-)
Love the ep3 but fk2 is my personal favourite of all type r's....

I got similar number plate to 1 of the type R. RO06. From Reading in 2006. I got VW Passat estate 2.0 t-fsi auto. Had similar power standard, but mine not worth anything now, even though only 12 left in UK.

Great vid, I remember you did the vid on a "replica" fk2 type r before.
The plus side is that these are relatively rare; 11-12k built . 4k in the uk 4k in Europe and the rest in Asia . Was a bit of an afterthought by Honda with less than 24 month production run of the FK2 in Swindon , switched to the FK8 which sold shit loads
I have a 2013 1.6 diesil 138k on clock only ever had to change break pads and service every 12 months 0 road tax leather interior sat nav reverse cam best car iv ever owned keeping it untill doors fall off❤
This is what i intend to get in next 2 years hope the price comes down a bit.
Love my FK2, I don’t miss the vtec noise at all tbh I thought I might. A quick map and an add on and 400hp easy. It’s a hoot to drive but forget any power in the wet it sucks!
What mods did you do for the 400hp. Fk2 is my dream car, 400 break sounds nice lol
@@pumpcityy113 mines 380 at the moment with just an eventuri intake. You can get 400 with a more aggressive map for sure and easy done with an exhaust upgrade as well. It’s the torque you feel really, mines 500nm and holds strong with the intake
Tbh mines more than enough for the roads.

ep3 worth 14k wow, that upsets me, sold my final edition with around similar mileage on it in 2012 for 7.5k, regret selling it but i was doing so much mileage it was costing me too much in fuel they really were very very!!!! bad on fuel for a 200hp NA.
I need one off them my favourite cars but never had one yet

The fk2 is the only one that looks like the ep3 the same shape just nicer in every way with more power. All the other models have to much going on. In my opinion its the best one of the lot .

This car vertical is shocking, tried putting a reg in for what is an m3 , and car vertical sent me the report from the car it used to be on in February, so I'm 30 quid down and none the wiser on the check. This feels literally like iv been scammed of 30 quid. Now going to have to spend another 30 quid on hpi a recognised site , thought I'd try car vertical of the backing of calvin

Great cars these. Out of R mode you’ll find the throttle more progressive and the suspension is less hard so makes it better for the B roads.

Looks like you've got some rendering error/corruption going on this vid calv, vertical lines strobing once a second on the very right and very left of the vid about a quarter of the way down

Sorry imao the original type r is the itr. I went from itr dc2 strait to the fk2 last year. Kept the dc2 in the family and the fk2 feels familiar only more modern, it gives me a grin everyday. If you can't drive through a tunnel feeling like you are 12 years old its not the car for me😅

Definitely my guilty pleasure, currently have a mk3 Cupra which is great but these just have that chav factor and the interior is very out there which is awesome. Just to note everyone has the embarrassing story at the Petrol station with a new car, worst thing was one of mine was with a cap that just opened by pushing it. 😭

The FK2 is the same chassis as the FN2 . The FK8 is a completely different car that shares the engine with the FK2
It's most definitely not. Considering the fn2 is a 3door and the fk2 is 5door🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@jordanthom8963 don't get me wrong the FK2 is miles better then the FN2. But the chassis is still based on the MK8 civic. Yeah its door body but it's still the same chassis just with the turbo engine, revised suspension and better brakes. Go underneath one. Same type torsion beam rear suspension same layout. Even the exhaust follows the same path under the drivers side sill. They're even starting to pool water and rust in the same places.

Haha dont even turn off esp, rev from 0 and its front, its not fastest drag car. Roll race is faster... raining day very bad timing... the times are non sense. This car is much faster if the driver can drive it properly
