Nearly no other building is discussed as controversy in the community as the Chateau Frontenac. Opinions differ from 'just a waste' to 'the most important building in the game'. What are the real facts about this great building?
The Chateau Frontenac is a building from the progressive era. It provides coins every day and a bonus on defined rewards of quests. The coins are nice. But they are not the reason why people want this building. The attractivity can only be based on the other advantage: quest rewards provided as coins, supplies, goods, diamonds and medals receive an extra bonus. This is related to the story quest, side-quests, recurring quests and quests from events and historical quest lines.
Building the Chateau Frontenac requires a 5 x 6 space plus 1,750 goods from the progressive era. Before reaching level 1 and having the first bonus, 60 forge points are necessary.
On level 1 the bonus is 50% on those resources listed above - and only on these. Forge points and special event items, e g winter stars, eggs or balls, do not benefit from this bonus. In case a quest provides 25 diamonds and 400 medals as reward, it now delivers 38 diamonds and 600 medals. This is already displayed this way. Those who solve many quests benefit more from that effect.
As with all great buildings the effects grows with each level. E g on level 6 the bonus is already 100%, so all rewards are doubled. On level 10 the bonus is 150%, so 2.5 times the normal reward is granted.
It is nice to receive more rewards. Especially with diamonds this is - beside guild expeditions - one of the rare possibilities to increase the stock. But is this enough to invest 1,750 goods? You have to solve a lot of quests to compensate this. Is it enough to use nearly two expansions, 30 fields of the city's very limited ground? And how will it compensate the 4,090 forge points required for level 10? The decision for average players will be: It is not worth to build it.
For the more ambiotioned players thsi looks completely different. They expand the Chateau Frontenac to level 80. This requires 161.757 forge points. Using the daily 24 forge points from the town hall requires 18 years to reach that goal. This looks different for players who invested in many shrines of knowledge and palaces, enabling them to invest more than 100 forge points every day. These players often also own an arc or receive the help of players with an arc level 80. That makes it much easier to reach level 80 of the Chateau Frontenac. And for those players it is possible to produce nearly unlimited goods without costs. This is the explanation how they can do it:
Beside the story quest there are several side quests. Those who completed or aborted all side quests of their current age reach the end. In the contemporary era you will recognise the end of the side quests when the tasks ask you to collect 200 of each good, to conquer the last province or to develop all technologies of the current age. Completing these final side quests new quests follow, having the headline 'recurring quest'. There are 7 such quests. I cancel each of these quests until a quest appears that requires to pay coins and supplies. The video shows this for the contemporary era. In lower ages the number of coins and supplies is lower, in higher ages it will ask for more. The concept is always the same. I pay the requested amount and receive a random reward. In the example shown these are 5 goods plus the bonus of my Chateau Frontenac, which is a total of 9. This way I bought 9 electromagnets for 140,000 coins and 110,000 supplies. This does not sound very cheap. But it still gets more expensive. If I want to use this like a mall to buy goods, I cancel all other quests until this quest appears again. The next random reward is again electromagnets. The third time my reward is 57,600 supplies after investing 140,000 coins and 110,000 supplies. This is a real bad trade. The next time I receive 162,000 coins. This is a tiny plus for my coins, but bad for my supplies stock. With the fifth trade I receive a blueprint. You can see that after a while doing this my stock of coins and supplies will be empty. As I get goods once in a while, I can use it like shopping, but it is extremely expensive.
This is different when the Chateau Frontenac reaches levels above 80. Then you get nearly as many coins and supplies as you pay. This means that you can get an unlimited number of goods without expenses. That indeed is a huge advantage: You no longer waste space for producing goods and no attacker can steal from you. But the upfront investment is extremely high. With these many forge points you also could achieve many other goals. Every player will have to decide for himself if this is worth it.
Cool, I would like to know a bit more but none of the information out there tells me what I'm looking for,
I was curious what level ranges are advised for what ages I'm in PE atm and want to use this GB for goods but am not sure what level I need it to be for this age and when I get higher ages what level I'll need for them :D
Mine is at level 12 atm, and it's nice but I only do about 10 quests per day,

So one thing the video neglected to mention was the combination of a level 80 arc and recurring quests. Everyday, I take spots on our 1.9 thread for other players' GBs that are leveling. R'lyeh is a spend X amount of fps, so one can loop this over and over while donating fps, along with Unbirthday.
For instance I am in PE. R'lyeh costs 66 fps. If I am taking a spot on a GB that costs 350 fps, I can loop R'lyeh and Unbirthday 5 times. CF can easily give an additional 1x-5x of the rewards for the quest. I keep several thousand FPS stored just for donating to GBs in order to get free BPs. This "bank" in conjunction with recurring and CF allows me to get (currently) an additional 100 or so goods a day. Mind you, I just built the CF and haven't even gotten it to ten yet. It's outproducing all of my other goods GBs handily.
Yes, coins and supplies could theoretically run out if all one did was loop the Unbirthday quest, but what else are you going of do with millions of supplies?
You missed two things: You can also use the spend forge points quest to do the same- with a level 80 arc and a 1,9 thread an easy way to gain goods. Also combined with the collect gold quest from your daily production it gets a lot more profitable
FoE is a marathon. Asking "is it worth it?" is like asking if it's worth it to take 1 step on a 1000km journey. If you're going somewhere, ya gotta take that first step.
When I was new, I thought of forge points as really valuable. Now, they're just a currency that I will spend when I get it, but I'm not going to cry if someone levels up a GB before it produces FPs, because who cares, that's just one day of many hundreds or thousands.

Based on a video I watched (which motivated me to build a CF in one of my cities), it also helps with reoccurring quests that require you to collect coins and resources. If you do it once per day, being careful to collect only what is req'd by the quests, you can collect a whole lot more per day. Oh, I guess this is also what people do when their CF is

The Unbirthday quest is only one of 7 recurring quests. By repeatedly fulfilling most of the other quests, it’s possible to get goods and other rewards just for collecting supplies and coins, especially if you set up your city to maximize your city to fulfill such quests and are in an age where it’s possible to have two recurring quests running at the same time, such as Colonial. That’s where I am, and I have sold most of my goods buildings even though my Château is only at level 7. I get enough goods from the recurring quests.
CA is the very best age for this - the last age when you need 2 productions, one of which are 2 1-day 2x3 Clockmaker productions - you can cram 10s or even 100+ Clockmakers into your city, with a level 10 Frontenac that is more than 150 medals per package -very good for CA. Such a city can complete 50+ 2 times 1-day Clockmaker production quests daily. With the Unbirthday Quests and simulataneously with the Clocmaker quests a few produce Supplies quests plus a few Produce Coins Quests, that is over a hundred random rewards daily, which is very powerful with just a level 10 CF. Technically, the CF allows you to do more Unbirthday Quests, because you get more coins and supplies back, as the video said. Unlimited resources are one of the ultimate goals - unlimited FE resources is VERY POWERFUL - they are the best in the game. (AF, OF, VF resources are not useful for GvG - smaller value) You should do quests and build the Frontenac in CA or much sooner - IT IS WORTH IT.
thanks to my Chateau i'have earned 476 diamonds in 9 months not bad at all + 100 goods per day + lot of money and materials, and i'm only level 11
Unfortunatly, this video is a bit misleading, because it does not shows all the possibilities to use the Chateau. The video, It's actually giving the impression that it is not worth it for the simple fact that it shows only "Unbirthday Quest" as means to make profit out of it. Even tough FoEhints mention about other ways to use it, the perception remains negative. Why? It is omitted that to get efficiently running the quest loop combined with the Chateau, you also need LoA and StM Basilica as support GB in order to increase the amount of daily quests you can clear. It is also omitted tha, trough production buildings ( as many as you can fill in your city the better) you can increase the amount of quests you can clear every day, which, generates FP Packs 5x, Goods, Medals, etc for FREE. The UBQ it's OPTIONAL. However, putting aside the case of this GB, FoEhints provides many other reliable and very valuable informations on his channel, which are great imho.
The Château is like the Arc in the sense that it's not very useful st first but really pays off in the long run.
Combine it with daily coin/supply/FP quests and you'll be able to buy goods multiple times daily, with the number increasing at it levels. It becomes more useful and less space-consuming in the latter eras where goods buildings are bigger. I say even with 10 goods per quest, it starts to pay for itself.
I like it. But it seems the people that are more into just fighting don't seem to think goods are important.

Arc level 80 1st priority. CF level 60 2nd. If not, you're doing it wrong.
My opinion: Zeus, Cathedral of Aachen, Castel del Monte all on level 10. If you are not doing this, you cannot fight level 4 of the guild expedition and you miss so much more.
Also you should have 100+ forge points every day. If not, bringing Arc to level 80 is a pain and slows you down too much.
I don’t like Chateau Frontenac because it needs too much stupid clicking every day. I play for fun. This type of clicking isn’t fun for me.
I just wanted to bring this opinion so that all others can compare both opinions and find their own best way.
2nd most powerful and consequential building in the game
Chateau up lvl100+ and it allready paid back because levels are paid by selling goods for FPs, ;-)

Whenever a quest gives either coins, supplies, goods, medals or diamonds you’ll get some extra on top. This is for all quests, including event quests

I like my Chateau. Its one of the only buildings that my friends will level for FP swaps. And the rewards are better than any of my other GBs. (BA-IndA + ToR and OBS)
I have Event buildings that produce enough goods. That I am thinking this is nice if you have the space, but not sure if it is worth it or not. I keep going back and forth. It can be good once you have it, but is it worth it building it up? I am only at progressive era. Maybe it helps more when higher. My Truce tower and Star Gazer with the events Seem like it will be enough to just level through the eras. I don't see me going to level 80 with it either till some of my others are that high. Or at least 60.
I have the CF on all 5 of my worlds. At level 80, the bonus is 500%. That means the rewards are 6 times the base amount. The important part of the rewards are the diamonds! The random rewards give diamonds one time in 14, and the base amount increases as you progress. With the recurring quests, I complete 4 of the 7 quests, usually once a day. This averages out to getting the diamond reward more than once a day. In Future Era, at level 80, this results in 300 diamonds!

Trade the goods in the market. Your guild mates can accept the required ‘unfair’ trades and might ask you to invest some Forge points into their great buildings as compensation.
@@FoEhints My guild mates are willing to trade as long as it’s 1:1 because they make the goods on a daily basis but don’t make lower age goods that I have lots of

These buildings have medium quality. Only the pillar of hero level 7 is absolutely exceptional.
The other bowl event buildings are not bad, just on the level of all previous events.
Players who have enough space should build them. Those who don’t have much space left should concentrate on the pillar of heroes only.

CF has similar impact as Arc, I mean with enough dedication it can be profitable but an average player that build it later than PE won't get big benefits.

You wouldn't. The CF only increments coins, supplys, medals, goods and diamonds (not buildings nor forge points).

Ive wanted this building since I started playing , its so pretty. But seems useless. Doesnt seem to do anything , I get 36 medals instead of 30 tho on events in city. If it hits lvl 30 its ok but costs a fortune in fp so why bother ?

CF makes a lot of sense if you play recurring quests a lot. And while coins are abundant from event buildings, supplies are the bottleneck. Hence: combo CF with LoA/RAH all at lvl 10 and a few high performer supply prods can feed 20-30 recurring quests daily which give you ca 100 current goods plus all the other stuff.
You get lots of goods, coins, supplies etc.

bonuses from the main city (event buildings, town hall, great buildings) do not influence the viking settlement. This includes the Chateau.
