RIP, Andre The Giant, 1946-1993
😢
The way Mandy Patinkin has me in full body chills that whole last act, every damn time I watch it.
"I want my father back, you son of a bitch."
So damn gratifying.
I chuckled at the intro when you said there was one recognizable actor in this movie. There's quite a few more, lol!
I thought they were talking about Billy Crystal.
@@JulieLWilliams Me too. It always makes me a little sad when reactors don't recognize him, since he was such an icon in the '80s and '90s.
You want to see Cary Elwes in something REALLY FUNNY? You need to watch Mel Brooks Classic "Robin Hood Men In Tights" Cary Elwes kills it as Robin Hood... Sooo damn funny!!!!!!! Yes.. It's a Spoof!!
I also LOVE him in his guest role as a jewel thief in Psych!
Inigo's words to the six-fingered man had to be the inspiration for Oberyn's to the mountain in GOT
There’s a moment in every reaction to this movie where the reactors forget they’re watching a movie and just sink into the moment. Every time. This is one of the best movies ever made.
Everybody loves this movie. From a 4 year old girl to a big lumberjack man and everyone in between. **My 2 favorite lines**
1) YOU'RE ALIVE, IF YOU WANT I COULD FLY
2) AS YOU WISH (when the grandpa says it at the end)
9:32 "I love the dialogue."
The dialogue is 90% of the brilliance. A twisted fairy tale with a Monty Python-esque script!
Mandy Patinkin's father died by cancer when Mandy was young. He said that when he did the scene of killing Count Rougen it felt like he finally got his revenge on the cancer. The line that he says is famous but there are people in their 30s, even younger that don't know this is the movie that line came from. I've loved this movie since it came out in the 80s when I was a kid.
You all need to watch Robin Hood Men in Tights and Spaceballs
So, I got to attend a special screening of the movie that was followed up by an interview with Cary Elwes back in April. I almost died from being overjoyed! It was so cool getting to experience the film with other fans as we all quoted and cheered throughout, and then getting to laugh and listen to Cary’s stories and anecdotes was just absolutely surreal. I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. ❤
It's a common brag in fencing to be ambidextrous. This is because Right-handed only fencers are not accustomed or particularly good at fencing south paws. Lefties are rare in the fencing world and that gives them a massive advantage. So, while being ambidextrous is desirable in fencing, someone will always have their dominant hand that they are best with.
Important to remember it's being read to the grandson. So 'Westley in disguise' covers a lot more options than a mask and bandana. We know, cos we can see, but the grandson only has Colombo's description from the book to work with.
So yes, it's a narration, of an adaptation by the author of the original story. And i think to some extent the Grandfather adapts on the fly to his grandson's reaction and input, which adds another layer of variation.
Oh and final bit? That fencing scene is universally praised - both Cary and Mandy worked their asses off on it(8 to 10 hours a day over months, and yes with both hands), it was choreographed by Bob Anderson (Star Wars, Highlander, Zorro, Lord of the Rings..) and the skill and accuracy displayed is truly top notch.
Mandy Patinkin has a channel here and it’s the most heartwarming thing. His son records videos of him and his wife and they are so cute. They live in a perfectly normal and warm cabin.
Cary and Mandy trained for about six months with the guy who trained Errol Flynn for that fencing duel! Cary wrote an absolutely beautiful book about his experiences making this movie, called "As You Wish."
Bob Anderson doubled for David prowse as vader in Empire
So many famous folks in this. Robin Wright played General Antiope in Wonder Woman, among other roles. Billy Crystal (Miracle Max) was in all kinds of stuff through the 90’s and Carol Kane (Max’s wife) is a great character actor who was on Gotham for years as Penguin’s mother. Chris Sarandon (King) was the star of the original Fright Night.
34:56 Westley: FUCK THIS SHIT!!!!!
This is my favorite film of all time, and the book is phenomenal as well. I wrote a thesis paper on it. SO many wonderful lines, Goldman’s writing is fantastic.
One of my favorite movies, when I was a kid... I had bone cancer aka Ewing Sarcoma, chemotherapy, died 4 times...coma 3 weeks....
Princess Bride, Mr. Bean, Ernest and other movies kept me sane, and less bored. I've been in remission since 2000, I was turning 9 when I had cancer.
So glad you're still here with us!
Thanks! 😊
Excellence in execution all around, script, cast, production design, costumes... It's almost TOO good.
That was my favorite part of this movie Inigo, Fezzik, and Wesley becoming fast friends that team up together. The physical comedy with Wesley slowly regaining control of his limbs is comedy gold. Inigo's fight with Wesley at the beginning and with the six fingered man was awesome, his line "I want my father back you son-of-bitch" was great. The movie leans into being campy and fun but it does have great moments of dialog that surprise you.
3:38 That kid's a savage. 😉😉
12:58 I Like what he says right here, about...are you just messing with me!
How they constructed this fantasy story with the interruptions by the reader or listener who's taking this story so seriously and needs to get the whole story reminds me of never-ending story lol
My favorite Raggedy's of the Pack reacting to one of my favorite classic movies. ♥️
They’re my favorites too!😊
Grand Negus Zek?!
Inconceivable!
28:00 the heckler I said Ugh Susan out loud.. thanks Hazbin lol
This is my comfort movie.
This will always be one of my all-time favorite movies. I love it... it's perfect... you couldn't make it any better... all the actors, ... all the silly "special" effects... it's the perfect amount of comedy, action, adventure, fantasy, and romance... Makes me smile every time... great movie to watch if you are ever feeling down.
It's one of those films you are just magnetically drawn to ,you could be doing housework, flip on the TV and there it is,housework becomes a distant memory as you settle down to watch
This has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid, I absolutely adore it. ❤
The great Wallace Shawn as Vizzini. He was the voice of the horrible Mr. Huph in "The Incredibles" and Rex in "Toy Story".
He also wrote and starred in "My Dinner with Andre" (1981), a much celebrated film.
Robin Wright in this era had some great stuff going on. I'd recommend "State of Grace" and "Toys."
I love this movie!! I watched it anytime that it was airing on tv. 😊 I’m so glad you liked it!!!
“Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” ❤😁
Awwwww
This is a classic!!!!!!!!! I’ve actually not seen it in years and watching it with you again will be the highlight of my day!!!
I’m so happy to see a reaction to this! My all time favorite comfort movie 💙 my favorite parts are Fred savage lol “Jesus grandpa, what did you read me this thing for?!” “I wasn’t nervous, I was a bit concerned.. THATS NOT THE SAME THING” 😂😂
Alright - you two are officially my favs of the Raggedy Pack. All-Star packed cast, the humor, the fun. This is my favorite movie. Followed by Ladyhawke. The cast of this one are known for:
Cary Elwes (farm boy) - Robin Hood Men In Tights; Saw; Stranger Things (Season 3); Kiss The Girls; Liar Liar
Robin Wright (Buttercup) - House of Cards; Wonder Woman (2017 & 2020); Forrest Gump
Wallace Shawn (Vizzini) - Young Sheldon; Toy Story; LOTS of voice work
Mandy Patinkin (Inigo) - Criminal Minds; Homeland
Andre - you know
Chris Sarandon (the prince) - Fright Night
Christopher Guest (Count Rugen) - married to Jamie Lee Curtis; This Is Spinal Tap; Best In Show; A Few Good Men
Billy Crystal (Miracle Max) - comedian; When Harry Met Sally; This Is Spinal Tap; Analyze This
Carol Kane (Max's Wife Valerie) - License To Drive; Scrooge; Addams Family Values; Jawbreaker; Taxi
Fred Savage (young boy at beginning) - The Wonder Years; The Boy Who Could Fly; Austin Powers Goldmember; Once Upon A Deadpool
Peter Falk (grandpa) - Columbo
Peter Cook (clergy) - The Hound of the Baskervilles; Bedazzled
Mel Smith (the Albino) - National Lampoon's European Vacation
I love this movie so much
Perhaps the best kissing book ever, and so much more than that.
Of course, Inigo would be a wonderful Dread Pirate Roberts. The pirate ship he would be inheriting is even named _Revenge._
The endings a lot darker than the film one though.
I'm pretty sure I've seen this about 30 times and have it memorized. Love it. Also read the book in college
Awww, yay! The romcom GOAT! Can't wait to relax this evening with this video and ice cream. Funny how you guys have quickly become a special treat to end my days with 😊
If you haven't seen Glory it's another great movie and ensemble cast and Cary is part of it.
Chris Sarandon, Prince Humperdinck, also plays a vampire in Fright Night 1985 an 80s cult classic.
This is the fastest I’ve ever clicked on one of y’all’s reactions! ❤❤❤
The Raggedy Pack mixing it up as usual, that's why I'm subscribed 👌🏾
You all did not recognize grandpa that is none other than Detective Colombo
I swear to God Syrio Forel from Game of Thrones is based on Inigo Montoya❤
This is a classic. Buttercup just standing there while Wesley was being attacked was annoying. Miracle Max was Billie Crystal, a well-known comic - actor back then. He did the voice of the little round green monster Mike in Monsters, Inc.(Highly recommend this Pixar film if you haven't seen it.)
If you guys are taking fantasy/adventure requests, then Big Trouble in Little China.
Pfft hope not. No thanks
@@jameskobegonzalez5228One day we'll have a cure for Internet Iconoclast Syndrome.
Big Trouble in Little China will always be a guilty pleasure of mine. It's so much fun IMO.

It's the old fashioned "damsel in distress" thing. Buttercup has to need saving for it to work.
Inigo is played by Mandy Patinkin who is more well known for his role as Gideon on Criminal Minds.
And Saul in Homeland. But theater people will know him for his work in Evita and Sunday in the Park with George. Lots of people don't know that he can sing!
My all time favorite movie
This is such a work of art. An absolutely spectacular movie.
Amazed you didn't recognize Robin Wright
One of my all time favorites 🥰😭
For another offbeat and rather naughty comedy, check out "A Fish Called Wanda" (1988), starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, and John Cleese and Michael Palin (from Monty Python). Kline won Best Supporting Actor for his character, Otto.
It's not for the thin-skinned. It has some fairly "offensive" comedy compared to today's standards. It's a classic farcical story!
it is still worth reading the novel.
classic movies have always best ❤❤
Please watch Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (with Kevin Costner)- then watch the parody Robin Hood: Men in Tights (with Care Elwes), you will not be sorry
Originally they wanted Danny De Vito as Viccini. I love the dude but that would have been such a massive shift, probably for worse
For an obscure Cary Elwes film (that's still really funny!), try The Pentagon Wars
I’ve always loved this movie. Great choice guys!
The Last Samurai , Edge of Tomorrow , Minority Report next , please 👍
Edge of Tomorrow! Yes please!🙏
Vizzini is my all time favorite character
You guys should watch the movie Little Monsters. It stars Fred Savage (the young boy who was sick) and his real life brother Ben Savage. #reacttolittlemonsters😊
LOL. If the "other movie" you saw was SAW, well, this is a much different character for him. Mostly, lol.
Cary definitely got range have you seen him in kiss the girls lol
😮
Prince Humperdinck inspired Lord Farquar
If no one has said it yet, I will: The book is even better!
I love this movie
inconceivable
You two look like you'd fit in nicely in this movie like if they showed when pirate Roberts took westly captured you two could have played two of his crew with your beards and what's that head cloth called definitely look like pirates lol
It's called "Japanese Headband Pirate Bandana" on Amazon
I as you wish you guys~♡
If you want to boost your viewership I recommend the Firefly series.
Which one of you called the fire first?
I think it was me -Corey
Guys, please watch “Black Swan”
Or Darth Vader since he creeps in caves 😉 hehe
Have you seen V for Vendetta? You don’t have to do a reaction to it, but i highly recommend watching it if you haven’t seen it before.
We haven't
back when movies didn't have to be serialized
Classic ❤😊
i think yo is better.
The Giant needs to be remembered forever one of a kind. This is a bad attempt at a Montey Python film
How so?😂
