  • Life in Thailand can be simple.. live the life you want and not what you think you're expected to live.
Young family trying to make it work in Thailand. It's not an easy task... We will share the challenges... the up's and down's...
If you have any questions I'm probably not the best person to give you solid advice but I will answer to the best of my knowledge and anything I share i've normally heard from a thai or a well established foreigner so isn't always 100% correct.

I live on a five rai plot on the fringes of our village and surrounded by rice fields with amazing views. We did a one rai pond at the back, putting the house on two rai in the middle with trees and garden out front. It is hard to see the house from the soi. Sixteen years on and I still love the feeling I get looking out everyday. Personally I need mountains or hills to look at a couple kilometers away and I hate walls. We have great trails and a beautiful reservoir within walking distance so I am still able to keep my aging body in relatively good health. Location and environment are very important over time and well worth the investment.

100% this. What region are you in btw? It's too expensive to buy more than tiny plots in Chiang Mai where I live.

@@HairyPixels I live about 50 km from Chiang Rai town but the roads are great so it doesn't take too long to drive to town.

I realized that no matter where I live, I will want to go elsewhere; if I live in the city, I will want to go to the beach; if I live in the city; I will want to go where it is quiet in the middle of nowhere. So when my wife suggested Isaan, a mile or so down the road from the nearest village, I thought that would be perfect. Ultimately for me home winds up being where I go when I just want to take a break, so it makes sense to have that be ‘away from it all’. Fortunately I can be in the city center of Udon Thani or Khon Kaen in about an hour from the front of our plot, while not being someplace that people will knock on the door unannounced very often.

dont worry about the comments on click bait too much, if the content wasnt good enough to back the bait the dislike ratio would be higher. enjoy the fun of content creation. im definitely going the large plot route, 5-10 rai, main road. kinda expensive but will be worth in the long run. keep it up drew

Drew you have a new toy. Got a drone? Key to UA-cam make quality videos people what to see. Easier said than done. There are a lot of creators in Thailand. Takes time to build a following. One question I have seen many times. People want to see interviews, hear stories about expats that have moved to Thailand and opened successful business and companies. One of the reason I started watching you. Why discord and not facebook forum. I think facebook is way more popular. Perhaps I am just old school. hahaha

Great video, each to their own, I have lived on and off in Thailand for 20 years, I am a beach or ocean view person, rural Thailand isn't of much interest to me, I also have seen so many western men get burned by Thai women so I don't really ever seeing myself in a position where I can lose anything due to one of them, in my 20's I was contemplating a similar path to you, but it was short lived, I hope it works out for you lad, I am just risk averse as I get older.

I also think i'd have a spot near the sea if I had the funds for a 2nd home(price home that would be lol) with Thailand we are so spoilt! I understand the risk part 100%. Wish you all the best

It’s very normal to do basics UA-cam stuff, you literally shouldn’t be sorry for it. It’s not THAT of a clickbait either. When a UA-camr with 10M+ subscribers does it, it’s okay. But when a small UA-camr does it it’s clickbait?
