Thanks for showing this man. I've had a leak for a while and the stupid dealer insisted it was the brake light gasket. Kept leaking after that. My storage bins under the bench filled with water and ruined my stuff. Mold all over the carpets and upholstery.
Great video - that insert, wiggle-wiggle, jiggle-jiggle was money - I was about to pop the bed belts to get the standoff to get these in!! - your video is much appreciated!!!
Good video. Discovered a leak behind mine this morning, and thought the piece would require installation between the bed and the cab. It looks like you cleaned around the lip too before the install. Removing the seat bolts looks like the toughest part of the operation.
Hey thanks. Luckily no back seat for me to. Win for the single cab 😁. Good luck with it. Not a hard job. I had to rip out all my carpet and clean it because it had been leaking for a while and I never noticed it until I took the storage container out to install my sub. Terrible design, Ram, come on 🤦
@@cousinb9183 That is good to know. I ordered the parts and decided to get the 3rd light kit while I am at it. Trying to be proactive on the fail points
Amazing video!! I sleep in my pick up a lot (I’m a hotshot driver) and have a sleeper berth, how would you close these cab vent is there any way to completely close them to impeach air coming in? Thx in advance!
Hey J, thanks. It might be difficult to seal those off from the inside. I'd still be worried about leakage. Also, I'm not sure what kind of effect that will have if you seal off the vents. You might have trouble closing doors if the air can't escape quick enough. Try it out and let us know. Stay safe out there
I'm sure this new design will fail also... both of mine are leaking bad on my 2018.. same issue on my 2014... what are your thoughts of just sealing up the holes? Any issues you can think of?
So far so good. The new ones were much tighter than the old ones. If you seal the holes, you'll probably have trouble closing the doors because they allow the pressure to escape when the doors shut
Shouldn't this have been covered under warranty?... This kind of stuff really ticks me off. Dodge/Ram knows of this design flaw but they keep installing it on more vehicles year after year.
Yep, you are correct. This was covered under warranty but at the time there was only 1 dealership by me and if you don't buy your car from them then they don't do you any favors. They told me it would be 3 months before they could get to it (summer of covid). Water would literally pour in when it rained so there was no way I could wait. So I said F that and did it myself.
Also unless you have a factory bumper to bumper warranty they will charge a flat "visit" fee of at least $100.. these vents are like 20 bucks at most for both.. so you can save the 80+ and do it yourself if you're capable..

Glad it helped!

Haha, that's too funny. I know how frustrating things like this can be. Glad it helped. Keep on keepin on, brother!

@@cousinb9183 ...the worst design, the worst placement, cheapest conatruction... literally the worst solution to venting/pressure relief ever
@@DavidHBurkart Totally agree. At least the new design seems a lot better. Still dry!

Do you have to remove all the side panels? As in the seat belt and door side trim to remove the whole back piece where vents are?
I don't think so

Totally different topic but do you know where is your subwoofer amplifier grounded to on your truck?
It is grounded to the cab floor

Part number?
Part number is in the description. Good luck, John!
These videos never show how to remove the seats and all the sound proofing
Yeah that's what I'm trying to figure out as well.
