The Kia Sorento offers a compelling combination of power, safety, comfort, style, and sophistication. The 2019 model enjoys refreshed front and rear bumpers, a new grille, and new lights and wheels. Trims range in price from $25,990 to $44,690 before the $990 destination charge and additional option costs.
The Sorento no longer offers a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, but shoppers can still enjoy either the naturally aspirated 2.4-liter 4-cylinder or a 290-horsepower V6 engine. All-wheel drive is available on all but the base L trim, and is standard on the ES, SX, and SX Limited trims.
Kia’s great UVO infotainment system returns on either 7- or 8-inch touchscreens, and runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert come standard on all trims, although spending a little more can earn you safety features like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning.

I never Drove a Kia anything. Till I got a rental car a 2019 Kia Sorento top of the line.. by far the best suv id ever driven. I had a Chevy equinox a trailblazer a blazer a suburban.. this suv had some serious pick up and smooth ride very impressive suv. I’m actually looking into buying one was so impressed
Honda and others take note: a volume knob AND a tuning knob.
Such bliss.
(nice review; I do like the Sorrento, renting it often from Avis. It's a comfortable and quiet highway vehicle)
And a normal yet powerful and buttery smooth V6...!!!
Why the heck does everyone review the highest trim level? Its extremely unrealistic and nearly impossible to even see these on Kia lots.
Its what all the car companies send to the testers. Usually the top trim so they can show the car in the best possible light.
It's the only one im interested in,, you can go to any car lot to look at a Lx.. like you said it's hard to go look at a sxl. We bought our lx new in 2011, we like it so much we want the same car but in the top trim. I drive my wife's sorento more than my bmw. Great car
Nice review Chris. This vehicle fits our needs nicely as almost empty-nesters. Larger than the CR-V and Rav4, yet smaller than the Highlander and Pilot. Don't get me wrong, I love my Pilot, but my wife has been looking for a vehicle like this to replace her Outback. I personally believe that most people who buy this vehicle will not be using the third row seats very much anyway. Again, thanks for the review!
I test drove just about every brand of midsize and compact SUV besides the higher brands like Acura, Mazda, Volvo, Lexus and so on but all I liked was a fully loaded Toyota RAV4 for $32,000.
My last choice was Kia, but I liked the Sorrento S trim for 34,000 and it had 4,000 off MSRP, so I pulled the trigger on the Sorrento since it has the v6 and just about all of the fully loaded trim, minus the leather, cooled seats, moon roof and a few less camera features, but the S trim gets the remote start, push button start and the upgraded rims
Plus of the 7 dealers I went to, kia offered better warranties than those around me and way better service, served us food, they even when as far as looking at other dealers prices to match their price if we found it cheaper ( tho on this specific model the price matching wasn't an option due to the MSRP rebate) and they gave me 4,100 for my trade in when all other dealers around me we're only offering 1,500.
I was more than happy to walk away with a semi loaded mid size SUV with tax title and trade in for 37,500 OTD in orange country California
I wish I could have afforded the SXL and not just the S but man that's an additional 10 grand, I feel like I made the right choice buying the mid level trim
Soon there will be 10 trim levels for all vehicles. The base trim will be the shell of the car, if you want tires you will have to move up to a higher trim level. The base trim will start at $15,000 and the top trim will top out at $60,000.
Cars have more standard features now than they ever have before.

I bought a 2019 SX Limited new. I have always been a Toyota guy and loved my 4Runners and Tacomas but they (and the Telluride) are not available in Mexico. I like the KIA more than the Yotas. I have had it almost 5 years now and have had ZERO problems. Only thing I am not a big fan of is the navigation system.This might be the last vehicle I'll ever own. And yes..I LOVE the knobs.
Kia's have come a long way and now are great cars. I've owned 3 in the past and currently own a 2017 Cadenza. The warranty is the best but the one thing that unfortunately has changed is the value aspect. Over $47k for a top of the line Sorento? Way too much.
Exactly my thoughts. Owned a Kia Sportage and Hyundai Genesis Coupe in the past. Love them, but the price tag is insane on this
But there is ALWAYS $4000 factory incentives. ALWAYS.
Kia had the right idea by adding a digital display to the automatic climate control this year (the temp was previously displayed in the main infotainment). Unfortunately, Kia chose a old school looking reddish orange color for the digits. Looks extremely low budget.
Its not GM bad looking but i agree.
I completely agree. I’m glad it’s separate now but I can’t imagine what the thought process was behind the dated look.
I thought the same thing, but I have to wonder if it's easier on the eyes at night?

You reviewed Sorento 2017 and yoy praised ride quality.. but when you reviewed Sorento 2019 you mentioned things about "bouncy" ride .. is that mean this is because of suspention tweak kis has made to 2019 model or what ??
got a 2016 a 2019.....both of them are awsome rides.
What compact SUV that doesn't make a back and hip injury mad when getting out like my civic coup. Looking for a basic comfort ride and when I need to put my foot down I don't want any hesitation.
If the Nissan Rogue has the same seats that my Altima has, it would be a good choice. But its a small "SUV".
KIA needs to be in the industry longer to have that kind of hefty price tag...
3rd row is overrated. I have one in my larger Kia Borrego, and it had minimal use for a while, but the kids and their friends grow up and move away. This should still be optional in the Sorento, I'd by a 2018 just to get a 5 passenger, especially since minivans do people hauling so much better. Of course, the Telluride looks like it might be nice for that, but it's not cheap either. Anyway, it looks like a nice car with the V6 AWD because it can tow a trailer with ease, compared to my Sportage.
You keep cars a long time,, kids grew up and moved away... My kids are young and we are looking for our third car since they were born. That 3rd row has came in handy plenty of times.
The 2.4L is slower than molasses. The V6 LX with the 3.3L non-turbo engine is a more powerful & reliable Sorento. But no way would I pay over 30K OTD.
The diesel engine it came with over here in New Zealand is FANTASTIC and packs some grunt too!

At 3:13-3:42, so it’s dangerous to put kids in the third row and they should only be seated in the second row?????

For a 47k. I'd go with Lexus bimmer or even Audi suv ..
if you are ok with much lower trim levels (features) and probably size...
I've got 2.2 cdi. The best in it class. Prime intended me to say GOOD BY to the HONDA CR-V family. Which has become awful, indeed!
Do people really spend $47k on this? There is nothing bad about this Sorento other than its dated looking, but the price just blows my mind.
I agree, I think it is a nice vehicle...just not 47K nice. Hopefully Kia will offer rebates or incentives on it.
@@kenromito and they always are, aren't they? I don't know of any Hyundai/Kia that doesn't sell well below the sticker price, but then it begs the question... why not simply offer a lower sticker price and less incentives? Wouldn't it attract more buyers?

@@kenromito was it for the same trim as shown? You don't have to share, but I'm curious as to how much they're actually discounting, percentage-wise.
The problem is that as good as this car is in its top trims, it's not good at all at its lowest trims and even at the top trims, it's prices so high, that you're simply better off getting a Grand Cherokee, Highlander or even an Explorer, depending on whether you need the third row or not. Speaking of the third row... it's pretty useless, yet you cannot get with 2-row seating, robbing you of cargo space you actually want/need in a CUV. The car also lacks the ground clearance of the competition, yet handles like a big rig in the corners. You'd think its center of gravity would be lower, but it just isn't. Then you have the dreadful and vastly underpowered 4 cylinder. What this car really needs in a plug-in hybrid drivetrain where the battery takes up the space that's currently given to the 3rd row. The Diesel is known to be loud and a bit slow in Europe.
All the cars you mentioned are more expensive with same options...Sorento is hands down the best bang for the buck in its category.
I like this SUV. It still has a 6 cylinder engine, and it is the right size for me (I wouldn’t use the 3 rd row). I like the original front fascia and wheels better than the new ones, though. And the dashboard now looks really old compared to the CX9’s and the new Santa Fe’s.
Wouldn't a Grand Cherokee or Edge then be a better car for you since they both have potent V6s and more cargo space?
I went with the CX-9. There is just more there to like.

George L I love the Grand Cherokee, but I am concerned about its reliability. I like the Edge, too, but its reliability is a concern, as well.
Bill odd, because factually, neither model has a reliability issue of note. However, a large, heavy 3-row CUV powered by a 4cyl turbo... that’s a real reliability issue.

They go for $38000 or less. Who pays MSRP? I think MSRP has increased so the dealers can look like they are bargaining more. It also makes for a hard comparison between makes.
Sticker shock??? LOL. More like sticker suicide. These auto industry cash cows are taking over our highways. Soon vehicles will be out of reach of much of the American driving public. Every year they get more expensive and ridiculously priced. A few years ago, you couldn't get anyone to buy a Kia, now they want close to $50,000 for an SUV? You do the math.
Who cares about ground clearance in SUVs? Most people never drive them off road anyway. I would rather have it lower...this decreases the likelihood of a roll-over and most of the vehicles do roll over in accidents. It's the main reason I don't own one.
I care alot. A sorento with AWD and V6 gets along pretty good off-road. I bet you didn't know they make a 2 inch lift kit for the sorento,, you can also fit a decent size tire under it with the lift. The sorento used to have a 4WD years ago and that thing was impressive. Look up kia off-road or in snow. Clearance is a must for some of us that live in the country.

I have a 2019 Kia Sorento with a V6 engine. It costs $700 to change the spark plugs. Who was the idiot engineer that designed this SUV?

Considering buying a used 2019 Sorento EX AWD. Assume that quote is from a Kia dealer(?) My mech would probably charge less. Spark plug maintenance interval 97.5K miles -not being a frequent service helps.
Cheap lookIng interior material, and not worth anything more than 25k. Get a Highlander or Pilot with rich materials and reliability. Koreans have a long way to go in America to prove themselves. Fit for China and Korea.
Amazing how KIA has moved up in overall quality. I bought a 2019 Hyundai Sant Fe and luv the way it drives and the overall quality with a great interior.$26k for a SEL model with a bunch of safety features is a bargain.Drive a Kia or Hyundai SUV B-4 you bad mouth!
No offense, have you ever sat in a Sorento? The materials are not what you describe.
I have a Kia that is over 10 years old. I disagree with you. For the same money I would be driving cheaply appointed bare bone Toyota which I refuse to settle with. I made the right decision back then. My Kia is running great after all these years. I originally planed to replace it at 10 years. But I don't need to. My Kia is a pleasant place to be.

@Paul M have you sat in a Hinda or Toyota product? Take about poor materials. Hell Toyota doesn't even have Android auto which is just embarrassing.
