      For this particular model, can you please confirm if there's an inner spring loaded metal valve in the fuel filler neck (fuel tank rollover vent valve)?

    I just purchased a used 2020 Kia Sorento SX and i couldn't believe it didn't have remote start. So looks like i'll be looking "after market" for that feature. Shame they didn't incorporate this into the keyfob on these higher trim levels. Everything else i can live with and for my needs the cargo space is PLENTY big. I just keep the 3rd room down at all times. What i do love and wasn't mentioned in this video is the "lock diff" button which i feel sets this vehicle apart from it's competition. Where other AWD vehicles handle things automatically dependent on the road conditions. You can lock the diff for even better traction on heavy unplowed snow roads or light off road conditions. That's a HUGE plus for me when camping and the dynamax AWD system is VERY competent.

    I totally agree with your list! It’s boujie but the air controls and touch screen should be better. Not to mention the sound is alright. I was expecting more from them. Buddy sold me on the heated seats and nice speakers- oh well the 3 rows have helped me out numerous times the last couple years so I’m not complaining lol 😂

  • @stephenhendricks103

    Nolan, it's true that the more compact external dimensions of the Sorento (for a midsize crossover) limits the overall cargo capacity of the Sorento. It's worth noting, however, that the total of 74 cubic feet behind the first row is greater than that of the much larger Mazda CX-9. Amusingly, the cargo capacity is the same as the Ford Edge two row crossover, a capacity that some reviewers have characterized as "cavernous." Seems the standards on cargo capacity shift depending upon what the vehicles are being compared to. ;)
    As you imply, KIA designers have opted to provide a bit more room for third row passengers compared to its rivals. (Third row legroom is greater than the CX-9, the Toyota Highlander, and the Honda Pilot, for example.) It's only in cargo space behind the third row that the Sorento trails the competition. But let's be honest; none of the midsize crossovers is really suitable for accommodating six or more passengers and their gear for an extended road trip. That's the mission of minivans and large crossovers.
    All in all, we chose the Sorento over its competitors in part because its relatively compact size offers solid advantages in terms of maneuverability in suburban traffic and parking lots. We also wanted a usable third row for occasional short trips hauling our daughter and her friends or with another family without paying the penalty of a more massive vehicle in day to day use. The Sorento checks the "Goldilocks" box almost perfectly.

      You’re absolutely right about all of this. Overall it’s a great package with a good blend of passenger and cargo space. I’m happy to hear your thoughts on it as an owner. I appreciate your feedback and the input!

    I have a 2019 Kia Sorento S with AWD and the v6. I bought it brand new at the year end for $26K. The driving experience is the same as the SXL but for over $15K less. For those who really have to have leather and a sunroof, just understand you are going to pay a lot for those features.

    I do like the Sorento. I definitely agree with the “options” on lower trim levels like. It’s nice that you can get leather (not sure about ‘19) and heated seats on an LX. Never liked how companies (talking about Honda here) makes you pay for a whole lot of extra stuff to get a particular feature.

    Kia does offer safety features on base models, what they don't offer are features that are intended for luxury. For instance, smart cruise control with stop and go capabilities is not a safety feature, it's more for comfort

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  5 років тому +1

      Yeah they do have safety features as expected, I’m meaning things like you said, the smart cruise control which is standard on some other vehicles...even a base model Toyota Corolla.
      It doesn’t offer front parking sonar, automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert/lane keep Assist, rain sensing wipers or driver attention warning on lower trims. No big deal but wanted people to know. They aren’t the only ones like this but more and more vehicles are moving their “advanced or active safety feature” to lower or base models

    Hey Nolan, What’s good? I agree with all your likes, and disagrees. I have a hard time when a main stream vehicle starts at say $25K and to option it out (same starting car) and the price can exceed DOUBLE the starting price. Are you REALLY GETTING DOUBLE the Car, SUV, TRUCK, MINIVAN, SPACESHIP? I know each has a sweet spot. But I am more impressed at vehicles that start at X amount Say the 2019 Impala for $30K and max out at 45K that’s 50% more (that was probably a bad example but it’s what I have LOL) and I’ve seen many only max out at 25% more. But 100% Plus spells Huge Depreciaion unless you’re driving it for over 10 years. Nice Work Bro

    • @stephenhendricks103
      @stephenhendricks103 5 років тому +2

      gene978: Sorry. I can't agree. You're comparing apples to oranges. The Sorento L (base trim) and the SX-L (top trim) have the same external and interior dimensions but they're not the same car. The L has a four cylinder engine; the SX-L has a V6. The L is FWD; the SX-L is AWD with a center locking differential and torque vectoring. The L has a six speed transmission compared to the SX-L's eight speed box. There are, of course, numerous other differences in features but the engines, drivetrains, and transmissions alone make the SX-L a very different vehicle compared to the "L".
      Furthermore, I'm impressed, rather than disappointed, that KIA offers such a wide range of trim options in the Sorento. It means that a buyer on a budget who needs basic transportation with seating for seven can purchase a midsize Sorento for an MSRP of $26K. That's rare if not unique in the industry. The base Highlander, for example, has a $5000 plus higher MSRP. At the same time, for about $22K more (not double the price of the L and not counting the typical discounts on the SX-L), the Sorento compares favorably with the top trim levels of its rivals. In short, KIA offers a Sorento to a much broader range of buyers than its competitors. That's a strength, not a weakness.
      Finally, in terms of depreciation, I traded a 2012 SX-L Sorento for a 2018 model earlier this year. I received a trade-in value within a thousand dollars of the KBB average for a Toyota Highlander with comparable trim, mileage, and condition. Considering that I had purchased the 2012 Sorento at a substantial discount (and received a substantial discount off MSRP for the 2018 model), I made out like a bandit, saving about $6000 compared to the original purchase price of the 2012 Highlander and purchasing a 2018 model.

      In order to get a V6 you got to step up to the CX-9 and it's a whole lot more expensive than the comparable Kia LX all wheel drive V6. I'm buying a used 2019 Kia Sorento LX V6 with 60,000 miles for $23,000

    I have had my '19 since October '18. I had bought 2 Hyundai Santa Fe's in a row and was really looking for another one of those, but they didn't offer the GPS except in the top trim and it was over $40,000!! Way too much for me. I need the GPS in BOTH of my jobs (pastor and Uber driver) so I really needed one with that. I also buy with a warranty in mind and had bought Hyundai for the 5 year/60,000 mile warranty. So, since the Kia has the same warranty, I decided to look them over. I have to tell you, and this is a "nit pick" for sure, but I don't like the name "Kia" at all! There is just something "sissy" about that name for a man to be driving one around. Yeah, go ahead and laugh, it is funny. I don't like the badge. They need to redesign that logo. But, that's just me.
    Now, how has it been?? Very good! First of all, I paid over $10,000 less than the same trim Santa Fe. I made a good deal with the Kia dealer and the Hyundai dealer wouldn't even deal with me even though I had bought, as a family 5 from them before. The Kia dealer really wanted my business and gave me a good price on my trade in. As for the Sorento, my old Santa Fe had a 2.4 four cylinder, while my Kia has a 3.3 six cylinder. Much better pickup when I am merging into interstate. It has some of the new safety features that I didn't have before. The lane departure assist and the blind spot monitor are great to have, but the automatic braking takes a little to get used to, but it has worked and it does help on insurance costs. I get 15% off because it has those things. This one doesn't have the panoramic sun roof, which my previous Santa Fe did and I must admit to missing it, but no big deal. The sound system does work good, I didn't notice any problem with the sound. I did like the larger display on my Santa Fe, but it also is smaller now on the new models.
    The only real negative I have is that I had to have some work done to it about 3 months ago. Five warning lights came on, and I took it to my dealer. They read the codes and told me that it needed some work and to come in on Monday (this was Thursday) and they would look at it. I brought it in first thing on Monday and left it. They didn't have a loaner to give me, which was disappointing, but I thought they'd have it finished in a couple of days. I knew it was a warranty repair so, "no problem". On Friday, I called them cuz I hadn't heard a word. They told me that they had diagnosed the problem and it was a computer module, but they had to have the repair approved by Kia because the part cost $1200. I didn't understand that because it is a warrantied fix. After another week, I was getting aggravated, I had called in and Kia had finally okayed the warranty repair and they THEN ordered the part. I then told the service manager that I wanted a car of some kind or I was going to call Kia about the situation. They called back and had a Kia Rio I could use which was a poor substitute since I am a big guy. I picked it up that afternoon in time for the weekend. I called in on the following Tuesday and they hadn't received the part. On Wednesday they said the part had come in and that they hoped to get it done by the next day. I didn't call on Thursday to check and was just getting ready to call on Friday, when they called and said it would be finished that afternoon. About 4:00 pm, the call came they had it ready. I took their car back and asked to see the dealership manager or owner and this guy came out and I let him have IT! Fifteen working days to get a pretty simple part change done. I am the squeaking wheel, I then wrote a letter to the dealership with a CC for Kia Inc. I did hear back from Kia Inc. with a letter of apology and a free oil change coupon. Whoopee!! I am hoping that I don't have anymore problems, but I love the vehicle.

    You called this a great value... twice. As you mentioned in the other video, the model you tested here stickers at an astounding $47,480 (!!!). I really don't think that represents a good value. Maybe you were referring to the base model?
    Assuming you talk the dealer down to $45,000 and put $5,000 down, including tax and title at 3% interest, your monthly payment over 60 months would still be $800!

      @PrimeAutotainment  5 років тому +2

      Glad you mentioned this...I definitely don’t think the model I was in is a great value and I should have talked more about it. My main thing with the value aspect is being able to pick and choose several options on lower trims (unlike some brands) and still get 3 row space without having a huge vehicle.
      Basically in comparison to other brand new 3 row vehicles. To me personally...like you said with the payments..that’s still way too much money to make me want to buy one though
