To answer on why HK has a high strength stat is more based, he used to help Revan with lightsaber combat hence the strength stat at 16 silly how they never gave him melee weapons

In Kotor 2 I like how most of the characters are multifunctional, they do both lightsabers and pistol/rifle. Most of the Jedi Companions are low in wisdom so you have to use them for defensive purposes. I agree with a lot of your choices here.

    • @lordrevan7569

because of how easily wisdom/charisma is stacked on gear their base wisdom for the most part does not matter - just level their constitution to 16/18 for high tier implants then commit to an offensive attribute of your choosing

Bao-dur is situational as his base class can instantly take out enemy shields with his Repulsor Fist, but that is really his only benefit.
G0-T0 cannot trigger mines just like Mira.

The level cap is actually 50, and without using bugs/exploits (mines to farm XP, or the Hsiss glitch) it's possible to reach level 35 or so if you go Sentinel to start and do as many skill-related interactions (computers, repairs, security, etc) yourself as possible during all the various solo sections of the game. That's on the base game, not including the restored content mod.

interesting that you put The Disciple so low, I just finished Freedon Nadds tomb last night and he has become my best combatant next to my main character. He's built like a Sentinel but with a lot more Strength and power, I often use Insanity and Improved Flurry with him and Destroy Droid if I'm fighting droids. I love how I've built him and he's a great character too to boot.

    S: Kreia, Atton
    - Kreia: Extremely useful, best Force user in the entire game. Can use both Light/Dark powers without any penalty. More importantly, she grants a small XP bonus if she is in your party. However, if you want to avoid losing influence with her in certain events, you can simply remove her from your party if possible.
    - Atton: Another great character, cannot be knocked out easily. You can build him (almost) however you want. His Intelligence and Wisdom stats are initially low, but you can level them up much higher so he can become even more capable later on.
    A: Visas Marr, Mira, Brianna/Handmaiden
    - Visas: Very useful as a "spell-caster" companion. Performs OK as a lightsaber duelist. Only downside is that if you use Dark Side Powers, her Force points drain more easily than Kreia, though this can be compensated by leveling up Charisma.
    - Mira: She reminds me of Sabine Wren from Star Wars: Rebels without the Mando armor and jetpack. Is one of the most versatile characters in the entire game who is equally capable as a lightsaber duelist and as a ranged fighter. Kind of a "jack-of-all-trades, but a master of none."
    - Handmaiden: One of the most powerful melee fighters and lightsaber duelists in the game, though unarmed combat has limited use once she becomes a Jedi. Certainly more useful than Disciple overall and has a more charming personality. My only complaint is she cannot learn the more advanced lightsaber/Force forms you acquire, though I believe there is a mod you can install to circumvent this.
B: Mical/Disciple, Hanharr, Mandalore (Canderous Ordo), Bao-Dur (with Robes mod)
    - Disciple: Boring, but kind of useful as a support character. Cannot learn advanced lightsaber/Force forms (though I believe there is a mod you can download). As a base character, he can hold his own in combat, but does not offer much compared to Atton or Mira.
    - Hanharr: OK if you want a more traditional RPG character. Does high damage and has a few useful feats, but not much more than that.
    - Mandalore: Can excel as a melee or a ranged fighter. Serves as a great alternative if you want to use a non-Jedi companion. Later in the game, I make sure to equip him with items that make him immune to certain Force powers (or at least improve his Force Resistance) so he can go toe-to-toe with Dark Jedi and Sith enemies.
    C: HK-47, Bao-Dur (without Robes mod)
    - HK-47: Kind of a lesser Mandalore. Is not very useful except in certain key story moments. He does have a few unique items that make him stand out though.
    - Bao-Dur: Only really useful for breaking down, upgrading and repairing itmes. As a base character, his lack of Force Powers really limits his effectiveness when you have armor equipped. However, if you have the Robes mod, he becomes more useful (mid-tier). Even then, still pales in comparison with Handmaiden as a fighter except for his shield-breaking ability.
    D: T3-M4, G0-T0
    - T3-M4: Is a support character at best. Has limited combat prowess. Only good at slicing computer terminals. That being said, he can become one of the best Demolititions characters as he can disable and recover mines much faster, though it takes a while to level that up.
    - G0-T0: There are only a few times in KOTOR II where he can become useful in scouting terrain and bypassing minefields. Even then, you can recover mines to gain XP instead.

  • @samdickenson4982
    @samdickenson4982 3 роки тому +1

I have a way to make Bao Dur useful in combat, takes some time but works. As a guardian he can learn powers like force barrier and energy resistance. Since he doesnt have high dexterity he pretty much needs to max out his offensive capabilities or find other means of defense. Armor can do well for that, upgrade it with things that improve resistance to blasters or melee weapons and use the above powers he becomes semi invincible. Only a few enemies will be able to do real damage like the Sith Masters in the temple or on telos where the sith troops have disruptor weapons.

    @hk-4886 2 роки тому +12

    My personal ranking:
12: g0t0, I rarely play with him as farming influence to convert everyone into a jedi restricts your interactions with the rest of the crew. His anti droid stuff sounds fun but since most of the droids are on ns (before you get him) you don’t get a lot from it.
11: t3, isn’t that great but actually a lot better than in kotor 1. Especially in the beginning when you try to stall everyone so you can benefit from the jedi upgrades he is in fact a viable option especially against droids where his shock arm is very effective. You have to play him manually though.
10: hk-47, suffers from the same problems as in kotor 1 (no melee!). His dialogue is still great and this time he even has a unique special mission (rcm only) but since range weapons are still inferior to melee/lightsaber he is outclassed.
9: mandalore, he is really decent as a range or melee tank. But since there are a lot of jedi options and he already was in kotor 1 (where he is a more interesting character imo) you most likely bench him most of the time.
8: hanharr, similar to mandalore you don’t get a lot of time with him if you want to convert all possible jedi. He’s also ds only so that restricts the time you play with him even further. He is decent as a melee tank but has the same issue as zaalbar in kotor 1 where he has too low defense (which is even more of an issue with wookie rage).
7: mira, she is the first jedi on the list and the ls counterpart to hanharr. Her starting class isn’t too impressive and it’s nearly impossible to make it out of her initial fight without upgrading her first. You’re also forced to play onderon with her if you want to convert her. When she finally is converted she’s just another jedi sentinel of which you already have 2. Also her wrist rockets are mostly useless.
6: visas, she’s a jedi sentinel who doesn’t need to be converted. Unfortunately she lacks a bit in hp and since she doesn’t need to be converted her playtime gets reduced significantly by the others. Also farming influence with her might damage your relationship with brianna and her outfit can’t be customized but stays the same no matter what you equip.
5: atton, gameplay wise pretty similar to mira but since he’s in your party right from the start and is very easy to please you should be able to convert him pretty early without any effort. As a jedi sentinel he has the same issues as mira and visas. He just gets the edge because of his personality and his unique feat which keeps reviving him.
4: bao-dur, his starting class is best avoided completely but once you convert him he becomes a jedi guardian (the best class imo) and a beast in melee combat. Only problem is he can’t wear robes or heavy armor so there you’re restricted a lot and it also affects his ability to use certain force abilities. Bit if you just want a good melee jedi that can hold on in a fight without needing healing every time bao-dur is the man for you.
3: kreia, clearly the best supporting jedi as a jedi consular with decent constitution. All effects on her will also apply to your pc so she’s great for buffing. You don’t want her to fight melee battles though as she sucks at that. Also you have to control her fp otherwise she’ll run out and be useless. She is quite annoying as a character as you can’t really gain influence on her and trying to do so may damage your relationships with the other characters.
2: disciple/mical, if this were a personality ranking he‘d compete for the last spot as he hardly has any. Since this is a gameplay ranking he’s actually really good. He starts of as a soldier (which is great for hp and melee combat) and can be easily converted in just a few dialogues. He‘ll become a jedi consular which is great for force abilities. Tbh he‘s pretty much the only character where it is actually better to give him a few upgrades as his starting class before converting him so you’ll get the perfect hybrid from good hp and feats and a lot of fp and force abilities.
1: handmaiden/brianna, she‘s absolutely godtier. She has the perfect combination of soldier and jedi guardian which makes her the best melee companion in game. With her in your party you can focus on doing whatever you want as she can take on a lot of enemies on her own. She also has a unique robe which spares you the effort of getting one for her. Only con is that she’s only available if you have a male pc (tbh she’s the only reason you‘d ever want a male pc).

I love Mira. What I usually do is go to Narshadda first, just so I can get her early. you can convirt her to a Jedi as soon as you get on the ship after you finish the planet. if you can't, just get 1 or 2 more influence hits from Duxun and go convert her then. While the hand maiden is a fantastic fighter, you can't train her as a Jedi until level 18. Atton is very easy to convert and this is why I go to narshadda first, to convert Atton and Bao-dur to Jedi. While I know kreia is great, I don't like her because she can only use 1 saber. this is why I prefer hand maiden, Mira and Atton and I use 2 of those 3 almost always. Visas is very meh, I only use her at the start and on the duxun mission, either she comes with me to Onderun or she goes with the other party.

I might be missing something really obvious, but I always figured that Mandalore was a pretty useless character because of the +0 dex limit on his armour, which cannot be removed. You can give him all the Dex buffs you want, but the armour is going to knock all of that back to zero.
Therefore, (as I see it), he can only be really viable as a melee character, and so his Dex level is a waste. Also, as you already have a ton of melee characters, what real purpose does he serve? Yes, he's tough, but that's about it. As far as I can see he brings nothing else to the table.

The +0 DEX means his dexterity modifier can’t be added to his defense (an effect of most heavy armors in D&D based games). His dexterity modifier is still added to his attack rolls so he’s still a very viable ranged character 🙂

The reason i think HK has crap stats?
I think the developers did it the old way.. they developed the character.. then rolled his stats, one by one, in order. Total chaos.. but true to reality. A flawed being.
They told themselves "if they want this character in their party.. the player will have to accept him for his flaws and figure out how to play him. Regardless of build stats"

I've actually read on game sites the max level for Kotor 2 is 50

It is, you're right, I just use 30 as a reference because it's hard to go above that unless you're trying to and it's impossible (I think) to hit 50 without exploiting the game.

Mira belongs in Kyber, if you get her around level 21 then make her a jedi, get master speed her damage output with blasters is absolutely insane
Especially if they're two mando disintegrators

Wait, the level cap for KOTOR 2 is 50... You just can't reach the cap without cheats

You can get over 30 without cheats. It's just much harder because you gotta play very skill-focused with your MC so you can unlock doors, hack consoles, and all that jazz by yourself since KOTOR 2 is nice enough to give you exp for unlocking stuff and removing mines

  • @nervaproject

You say Kreia is great because of offensive force powers, but in my experience the AI never really uses them. I would routinely have Kreia in my party and be annoyed to see her having full force points, and instead of casting force lightning or something, she just charges into the fight using UNARMED melee attacks.
I know you can change the AI behavior between aggressive, jedi support roles, and a third option, but if you change her to support behavior away from aggressive all that does is result in her casting a lot of buffs on herself and the rest of the party before eventually jumping into the fight with melee attacks again.
So Kreia might be great in theory but in practice she's not that great to have in the party. And while you might tell me to just micromanage her, I don't really want to do that all the time, and it's a bit more difficult to do that if I'm already micromanaging my own character at the same time.

her special ability of force link allows you to use her to buff your main character, i.e cast force valor/battle meditation, then immediately cast insanity/mass stasis.

    • @torybeaudet3820
      @torybeaudet3820 2 роки тому

“She’s not that great to have in your party” That’s YOUR opinion, and a terrible one at that. Yeah, I put her in Jedi support role and she buffs herself and my main character up with like 4 different boosts and then runs in and starts massacring everything with force powers (Lightning, Insanity etc) and her lightsaber. And whenever I’m low on hp, or anyone else is she spams force heal. I’m assuming your build/set up with her is just extremely poor here because she is easily an S tier/Zero tier character.
