Some people have been asking for me to check out Pentatonix, I'm glad I did. Their singing and talent with this Havana cover are friggin' amazing. Comment below with your thoughts. Peace & Love everybody!
More "friggin' amazing"????? "Daft Punk", Bohemian Rhapsody", "Hallelujah", "Say Something". I could go on and on. I've been a Pentaholic since I heard "Somebody That I Used To Know". I was immediately hooked.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PTX is my group!!! I never requested from them because I didn't think you would react to them! And Scott, the blonde in the middle, he's my man (not really, but I fantasize)...and don't you worry, you will be BOMBARDED with enough vids to react to and there's a plethora of them...cannot wait!!! Sean???? I knew I'd find ya here! lol... Hallelujah, Sound of Silence, Daft Punk (won their 1st grammy with that one), all good, Bohemian Rhapsody, you will notice in the older ones, there is a different bass. The original bass was Avi but he left the group a couple of years ago and Matt entered onto the scene. You will probably also think some of the other members have changed because Mitch (guy with the high voice) always has a different look, Kirstie (like thirsty) usually has different hair color, Scott pretty much looks the same, Kevin, Avi and Matt pretty much look the same.
I noticed you just did a Billie Ellish reaction. Try Pentatonix version of 'When the Party's Over'. Also, stylistically, I noticed that when you stop the video you speak quickly and efficiently, that is helpful and welcome. You also set it up such that there is a slight backtrack in the video so you don't miss any key part of the song. That is totally great.
Agree wholeheartedly with all of the above! I hate it when a reactor misses something particularly good by trying to talk over it. Pausing (and backtracking) is by far the best way (IMHO).
The blond is Scott Hoying, he's technically a Baritone, but as with all five of them... their dynamic ranges are kind of nuts and really defy classical definitions. Is he the lead singer? I guess, but they all kind of take lead on different songs. The 70s porn-stache (love you Mitch, but really ;P) is Mitch Grassi. He's technically a tenor, but tends to sing contra-tenor (the really high stuff) and often is taking treble lines way above Kirstin. The female is Kirstin Maldonado and she's technically a mezzo soprano, but often dips into the lower alto range to kind of round out their sound profile. Matt Salle is on the right and is their base, but also will help out with background "percussion" and even tenor ranges on occasion. Kevin Olusola is on the right and is primarily their beat boxer/percussionist, but also plays a mean cello (while beat-boxing which is kind of nuts really).
Please do more Pentatonix!! They are phenomenal. They do tons of covers of current pop music, older classics, holiday songs, and even have some originals. You won’t regret diving into their catalogue!
Pentatonix are awesome ! Check out The Sound of Silence, Hallelujah , Daft punk, Love Again, Bohemiam Rhapsody and Imagine. They will blow your mind !!!!!!
You should do more PENTATONIX reactions, they are amazing and super talented. Look for songs like Sound of Silence, Hallelujah, Love Again, Daft Punk Medley, and Dreams. All of their songs and covers are truly amazing.
Pentatonix (PTX) very recently did a Billie Eilish cover WHEN THE PARTY'S OVER while they were in quarantine. A very good listen if you like the song, and interesting how they can put together a video when separated.
Their cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" will blow your mind. This group is absolutely incredible, and I'm glad you've discovered the world of PTX for yourself!
Nice to finally see another Maritimer hook on to PTX! I'm in Nova Scotia....I've been a Pentaholic for 8 years and I've been waiting for other "local" people to catch on. Subscribed!!! 😃

If there is a "lead singer", it's Scott, but they do most of their stuff by committee. Their cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" is awesome.
Yes yes yes! More PTX, please! Hallelujah, sound of silence, daft punk, Gold, can you feel the love tonight, Bohemian Rhapsody, evolution of Michael Jackson, evolution of Ariana Grande, evolution of Rihanna... and then keep going 😉 Love from Alberta! ❤️
Yes please, more Pentatonix!!! They have covered pretty much every genre you can imagine. I would suggest their Daft Punk Medley, Hallelujah, any of their Evolution videos (a live). They have a lot of content, you will not be disappointed with anything. Their original bass left in 2017 for personal reasons, but he helped them find his replacement, who is in this video. Other than that, they are the same people, but a couple of them change their look a lot.

the dont necessarily have a lead singer but scott, the one you thought was the lead singers, gets a lot of solos more often, but they switch, there’s always one person doing lead vocals and the other two singers do the background vocals / harmonies
oh my god i love pentatonix, this is far from their best cover though, i recommend checking out one of their original songs, “can’t sleep love” is my personal favorite and some other great covers include hallelujah, attention, sound of silence, la la latch, etc. please keep reacting to them they’re amazing!!!

Wow, this cover is brilliant. I love this song by miss Camila Cabello, and Pentatonix definitely did it justice. Thanks for this reaction, I wouldn't have known about this group if not for your video.
Welcome to PTX! They’ve been making brilliant music since they won the Sing-Off (tv show) in 2011. So much material and great reaction videos all over UA-cam. The Pentaholic fandom is really nice too.
Yeah if you think this is friggin amazing, you really haven’t seen anything yet LOL. I see other recommendations so let me point you toward New Rules x Are You That Somebody, and also La La Latch (an older one with their previous bass, Avi, who left around 2017...no drama, he just wanted to be closer to his family and he is now solo. He also helped them pick their current bass, Matt, so it’s all love). Anyway, awesome reaction, can’t wait to see more PTX.
THX for your reaction - would like to have you check out some more Pentatonix - how about some of their Evolution videos: Evoultion of Music, Evolution of Beyoncé, Evolution of Rihanna, Evolution of Ariana Grande?
Pentatonix is a 3x grammy winning a capella group. There is no lead singer, they all sing lead depending on the song. You will be hard pressed to find a song of theirs you will not like, they are crazy. Check out Hallelujah or Imagine next. Cheers from Alberta!
You now are on an magical musical journey . they always are the highest quality and the people that they collaborate with and their solo careers all A+++ I'd do Bohemian Rhapsody and the daft punk Melody next if I were you.
They do covers and originals of all kinds of songs - mostly pop and Christmas, but they've also done EDM, Country, Rock, Broadway, and just beautiful harmonic vocal songs. There are is no group lead per se, although Scott (the blond) had the most leads for a long time early on in their career. That may have changed by now, I don't really track it lol. A lot of their songs have more evenly distributed leads than this one, and they also have songs like this where one member really takes the bulk of the lead. Kevin (beatboxer) and Matt (bass) have the least leads because they're generally needed on beat and bass. Since Scott can cover bass, Matt sings a bit more than Kevin does. To hear Kevin sing, check out Imagine or Mary Did You Know. Both have rotating leads, and also have their old bass, Avi (the bass change is the only member change in the group, no matter how different they may look) To hear Matt sing, try You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch, it's the only song where he takes the lead the whole song. He also has an absolutely beautiful, albeit tiny, lead part on When The Party's Over
It would take years to catch up with their covers, and original music. I have been a fan since they were on the Sing Off. Subbed so I can follow your journey. ♥
I love when new people discover PTX. They are amazing. I saw them in concert June 2019 and they are incredible live. Some PTX knowledge: the group started as the trio (Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie). They grew up in the same town and knew each other from school and theater. They added Avi and Kevin when they auditioned for the Sing Off in 2011, which they won. Avi was their first bass singer who left the group in 2017. He is the only original member to leave and helped choose Matt, his replacement. Scott (tall blonde) is a baritone, also sings bass, and tends to lead many of their songs. Kirstie is a mezzo soprano and the only female. Mitch (mustache guy) is a counter tenor. Avi, followed by his replacement Matt, sing bass. Kevin is the beatboxer, he sings tenor, and plays the cello. Each has done solo work, I highly recommend checking them out. Scott and Mitch have a side channel called Superfruit, they are amazing. Mitch changes his look a lot, so much so that people have believed it was a different person altogether. They do covers, some original music, mashups, and medleys. They have won three Grammys (so far) and have performed all over the world. They have also collaborated with other artists and done specials on tv.
No lead everyone sings the beat boxer is a tenor and Yale graduate who arranges some and plays cello saxophone and piano .., cello with the group ..,the others to one degree or another in his own work.
The occasions where Kevin _does_ sing are noteworthy (to coin a phrase): "Imagine" and their appearance on Sesame Street "Pentatonix Counts (and sings) to Five". The bass _du jour_ (Avi or Matt, depending on year) rarely does anything other than open vocalization, although occasional lead lines do occur.
@@xheralt Kevin sings in Imagine, Say Something, Mary, Did You Know, Evolution Of Michael Jackson, Little Drummer Boy, Away In A Manger and The First Noel. And you can see him sing the background often, for example in Bohemian Rapsody, Hallelujah and also in Imagine! These are surely not all songs where he is singing!
They do not have a designated lead singer, Scott (blond), Kirsten, Kevin (beatboxer he was sitting next to Kirsten), Mitch (in pink jacket) and Matt (is the Bass) Mitch and Kirsten change their looks often, so in other videos you will see that, Matt came into the group in 2017 when Avi Kaplan left the group. React to :"Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk or Imagine. Thanks!
Is he the lead singer: No. His name is Scott Hoying and he has a crazy range. The three in the center have known each other since high school. Guy on the left is Matt Sallee, the new bass (Avi Kaplan was the was the original). Guy with the dark hair and mustache is Mitch Grassi and he's got a crazy tenor range. Kirstin Maldonado, well, you heard her. She's amazing. Guy on the far right is Kevin Olusola, who does beat box but also has a great singing voice. Oh, and he plays the cello. But in the song you just heard, there are no instruments other than their voices.
In June, Pentatonix released an EP called "At Home", with five covers and a medley. They have also released videos for five of the tracks. They are in quarantine, so all of the arrangements were done via Zoom, and each audio track and video part was recorded in their own homes; they never met in person during the production. My favorites on the EP are "Blinding Lights" (originally by The Weeknd) and "Dreams" (originally by The Cranberries). NB: I have not yet listened to the audio-only track (Clean Bandit's "Cologne"), but from what I understand, it's awesome too.
As a PTX stan I could spend all day watching people react to them, but I especially love first-timers because it lets me relive what I felt when I first found them, but also with the joy of knowing there is even more to love! 💜
They change the lead voice from song to song. Depends on which voice fits the best for lead. There are also song where everyone of them has his own solo. The black guy on the left is Matt and sings the base. The black guy on the right is Kevin and does the beatboxing. Sometimes he also plays with his cello (And beatboxes the same time "celloboxing") They're all so damn talented. Some songs/covers I'd recommend are Daft Punk Medley (old but gold) Love Again (original from them, some similarities to Daft Punk) A-ha Live recorded from Singapore Bohemian Rhapsody Hallelujah Say something Sound of Silence The list goes on and on.
PTX is a great way to build your subscriber list hahahaha. These peeps are amazing! Sound of Silence, Hallelujah, Daft Punk, Bohemian Rhapsody are all solid viewing options. New Rules is great, and they just recently covered Billie Eilish WTPO.
I’ll NEVER tire of watching people see PTX for the first time 😍😍 boppin away... all the facials 😊 you gotta watch the rest of their stuff! Like pretty much EVERYTHING 😳👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
They didn't need a band because they are the band. Can you imagine just all of a sudden breaking out in song anywhere you want and it sounds like that with no instrument set up needed.
Blond is Scott Hoying Guy with mustache is Mitch Grassi Girl is Kirsten Maldanado Beatboxer is Kevin Olusola (also great Chello player. Bass is Matt Sallee
They are such beautiful people. Not one of them are hard on the eyes, each and every one of them have a sound of Their Own and they are just the whole package.
OMG I FLIPPING love this song by PTX. I WOULDN’T trust anyone else too do this justice. Come on. Who would expect anything better than perfection. 🥰🥰🤷♀️🤷♀️
Great reaction! That’s how to do it! Pick a song you love, hear PTX cover, you’re hooked forever! Appreciate your backing up a bit each time you stop. They do covers & originals. No egos in this group, they equally share the limelight! They are most known for Hallelujah & their cover of Sound of Silence is stunning, where the bass, Matt, sings!
More PTX, please! They are amazing! You can't go wrong with any of their songs, but I most highly recommend "Hallelujah", "Dafr Punk", "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Imagine" (with their original bass, Avi Kaplan) and "Shallow", "When the Party's Over, and "Break My Heart" (with this bass, Matt Sallee).
I just thought I'd come back and watch this first reaction again and I have to say it is fabulous! Standing on the edge of the rabbit hole I watched you tip straight down into Pentatonix heaven! Loved it then, love it now!
Great Reaction, Instant subscriber here. WHEN you do Hallelujah, please do it as a double feature, first on the Official Video and then on the Live Christmas performance a few years back. So many think that they rely heavily on Studio production, but with this back to back you will see that they can definately Walk the Walk. I am going to share you reaction to two FB PTX fan groups, so, yeah, if you do more PTX, they will be coming to listen!
Fair warning, my friend, from one Canadian to another....... You dun found da rabbit hole. LOL Buckle up, it's a hell of a ride discovering PTX, and you'll love every second of it.
Citizen Queen is all girl a cappella group that Scott, the blonde guy, in this video help put together. They are young and pretty impressive. You should listen to their version of No Tears Left to Cry.
If you you hear them they will come! Welcome to madness-You react to ptx and all the fans will be here! Our goal is to change the world one fan at a time!
New subscriber, great reaction, looking forward to more Pentatonix reactions. Just so you know, the group has been around since 2011 and have only replaced one member. Avi Kaplan the original bass left in 2017 due to stress and anxiety from their heavy touring schedule because his mother was in the hospital with cancer. He left after finishing their tour to spend time with family. He now has a solo career. He helped them find the new bass, Matt , who was in this video. A lot of new people to Pentatonix often get confused when they watch PTX videos thinking there are different members because Mitch, tenor, and Kirsten often change their looks. The blonde guy is Scott. The beat boxer is Kevin.
You just earned my sub with this reaction. Pentatonics or PTX will boost your channel and you will love what thy do...win win! Another a capella group that NEVER disappoints is Home Free. A good first one for Home Free is Chicken Fried POP. Mash up of 17 songs. They also really have fun and are funny! You my friend have entered the world of...no need for instruments.
Hi! I enjoyed your reaction to Pentatonix! You wanted to know if there was enough interest out here and you reacting to Pentatonix so I'm going to let you know that I just came here to watch this video after watching your second Pentatonix reaction which is "Bohemian Rhapsody" . This reaction popped up in my feed but I I hadn't checked it out yet so I wanted to see if you were going to continue or not. When I saw that you reacted to a second video I checked it out and like your reaction well enough that I came here to watch this reaction and then I subbed specifically because of your Pentatonix reactions. You obviously understand and know music and that makes reactions to an acapella group far more interesting. People that understand music realize exactly how much it takes to do what this group pulls off. They sound the same live in case you're wondering. I'm more personal note I love your purple walls and all of the fandom things you have! I have two kids that decorate the same and they're both adults now. I feel right at home! Thank you so much for your reactions!
I love it so much, watching new people discover PTX for the first time! 😍 Just know we agree with EVERYTHING you're saying "boy he's good" 😂🤣😍 Hahaha YEAH we know!!!! 😍 Welcome!!
Dude I absolutely LOVE your background!!! }They switch many times between the 3 Scott, the blonde, Kirstin, the lady, and Mitch with the mustache, Kevin is the beat boxer, but can still sing, and Matt the Base who also is insanely talented. I think 4 of 5 have 3 octave ranges.
This is the greatest A Capella group of all-time, undisputed, and they don't have over 18,000,000 subscribers on UA-cam for nothing!!! I would check out their cover of "Gold", their original "Cracked", or any of their Evolution Of.... videos, such as "The Evolution Of Ariana Grande"!!! Enjoy!! The blonde guy wouldn't characterize himself as the lead singer, because they do whoever is right for the song, but he founded the band and is usually lead, so yes, he's the lead singer! Blonde dude - Scott Girl - Kirstin Mustache - Mitch Black guy with leather jacket - Matt - (new bass) Black guy wearing the wallpaper - Kevin, (the beatboxer)
OK. 3 months ago this was posted. It is the best reaction I've seen. Looks like the PTX Pentaholics (like me) have welcomed you to our family. Hope you feel the amazement and joy we all feel when listening to them. Looks like a lot of comments. Be aware, we love watching a virgin reacting for the first time. Yours was great fun to see!!!
Halleluiah is my favorite song by them. They do many genre's and styles, and that one is ..., well, you'll see. The one where there standing outside with mountains behind them is the best video of that song. Check out Halleluiah, The Sound of Silence, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Radioactive. That last song is different. It was done with the violinist Lindsey Sterling, and Kevin Olusola, the beatbox guy, who also can sing, plays the cello. They all sing fantastic, and are amazing when together.
I don't think I've ever heard a new Pentatonix reactor start out with Havana! This one gets overlooked a lot, but it's one of my favorites. Kevin (the one who did the air trumpet near the end and the beatboxing throughout) plays cello (a real, physical one) on a few of their covers (Radioactive, Papaoutai, Dancing on My Own, and the achingly gorgeous Say Something, for example). Twice, they've also had Lindsey Stirling guest with her violin. Other than that--nothing but their own voices (oh, and Kevin sometimes pounds his chest or stomps on a pad).
Awesome, yes, please do more PTX. Love them, and they will rock your world. Try the newest for their HOME album, with covers from Billie Eilish, the Weekend, and more. We Pentaholics love them !
I love this reaction. I've seen already maybe 6 of your other PTX reactions, but I stumbled upon this one as your very first and I like your enthusiasm. Also... "If you want me to do more Pentatonix.... I gotta see that there's enough interest..." LOLOL. I'm here for it all. Subscribed. 🙂
Great reaction! Please keep reacting to PTX! Also keep in mind that the girl (Kirstin) and the guy in the pink jacket (Mitch) change their looks DRASTICALLY and many reactors think they are different people in some videos. The only member that has changed over the years was when Avi, their original bass, left the group in 2017 on good terms and they picked up Matt (the bass in this video). Matt and Avi are both amazing though.
@Newfie Reactions Hi from a fellow Newfie, The blond is Scott Hoying , the guy with mustache is Mitch Grassi, the girl is Kirsten Maldanado, the beatboxer is Kevin Olusola (also great Cello player) and the bass is Matt Sallee ( the original bass Avi Kaplan) left the group a few years ago and is doing solo work. Also they are really positive people and their fans are too . Get ready for a lot of new subscribers
Welcome to PTX. They are amazing and you have a lot to look forward to. Please do more of them. Subbed!
Both have rotating leads, and also have their old bass, Avi (the bass change is the only member change in the group, no matter how different they may look)
To hear Matt sing, try You're A Mean One Mr.
You missed out Kevin’s Cello Boxing skills! 😄
Thanks!
Her name is Kirstin!
@@schuhschrank947 people need to stop nit picking every little thing. thanks.
@@lisamarie45 People need to pay attention and show respect for other people by writing their names the correct way!
Her name is Kirstin Maldonado!
@@schuhschrank947 Thanks! I'll spell it correctly from now on.
@@Joodster You can also fix it here by using the three little dots on the right side of your comment! ☺
THANK YOU!
Got to hear "The Sound of Silence", sends shivers down my spine.
Pentatonix are my favorites! I absolutely love watching people hear them for the first time and get blown away!
Love how you always pause to give opinion
As a PTX stan I could spend all day watching people react to them, but I especially love first-timers because it lets me relive what I felt when I first found them, but also with the joy of knowing there is even more to love! 💜
Pentatonic has some great covers. Some of the most watched are Hallelujah, Daft Punk, and Bohemian Rhapsody.
LOVE THIS. I swear I could listen to this cover on a loop for an hour and still not be tired of it. 😳❤️
“She killed it - and so did the other girl”........Mitch 🥰❤️
Pentatonix ❤️
They change the lead voice from song to song. Depends on which voice fits the best for lead. There are also song where everyone of them has his own solo. The black guy on the left is Matt and sings the base. The black guy on the right is Kevin and does the beatboxing. Sometimes he also plays with his cello (And beatboxes the same time "celloboxing") They're all so damn talented.
Some songs/covers I'd recommend are
Daft Punk Medley (old but gold)
Love Again (original from them, some similarities to Daft Punk)
A-ha Live recorded from Singapore
Bohemian Rhapsody
Hallelujah
Say something
Sound of Silence
The list goes on and on.
This is my favorite of all of their songs. Jesus! They are so wonderful.
Gotta watch all their songs. AMAZING!
Yay! I was glad to see you did this. Pentatonix is pretty amazing, keep doing them!
yes more ptx
Blond is Scott Hoying
Guy with mustache is Mitch Grassi
Girl is Kirsten Maldanado
Beatboxer is Kevin Olusola (also great Chello player.
Bass is Matt Sallee
Welcome to the swarm that are the pentaholics. We love to find new reactors, because all our friends are tired of hearing us talk about them.
They are such beautiful people. Not one of them are hard on the eyes, each and every one of them have a sound of Their Own and they are just the whole package.
Please react to their cover of Sound of Silence
All the Pentatonix... welcome. You won't be disappointed. They up the ante of most everything they cover. And they have originals that are phenomenal.
I love watching your reactions to Pentatonix, I find myself always coming back to them to rewatch your journey
So so many awesome Pentatonix songs to cover, greatest rabbit hole ever🥰
Love PTX!
Recommend: EVERYTHING!
Pentatonix is the best...ever!!!❤️❤️ yes PLEASE do more reactions of their songs!! You won’t be disappointed!!
They all have perfect voices.
My everlasting PTX playlist: BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, LOVE AGAIN, WHITE WINTER HYMNAL, LITTLE DRUMMER BOY, DAFT PUNK, THE SOUND OF SILENCE. :)
They are always on point. Never disappoints.
Citizen Queen is all girl a cappella group that Scott, the blonde guy, in this video help put together. They are young and pretty impressive. You should listen to their version of No Tears Left to Cry.
I like their cover of Bad Guy too.
If you you hear them they will come! Welcome to madness-You react to ptx and all the fans will be here! Our goal is to change the world one fan at a time!
I just realized this was your very first reaction to pentatonix and what a great underrated song to have started from!
Love your Reaction . You can't help be amazed with Pentatonix 😊Looking forward to more Reaction's
You have to do their cover of your a mean one mr grinch please. My favorite cover by them
Blonde dude - Scott
Girl - Kirstin
Mustache - Mitch
Black guy with leather jacket - Matt - (new bass)
Black guy wearing the wallpaper - Kevin, (the beatboxer)
Oh man...this penthaholic is going to warn you...ones you get in, you never get out
I love pentatonix, please do more reacts of them
I don't think I've ever heard a new Pentatonix reactor start out with Havana!
Subscribed. 🙂
Welcome to the world of PTX! Yes!!! Please do more... there are so many so just go with what you want... I'm sure there will be suggestions!
welcome to Pentatonix, you have just entered a big rabbit hole, enjoy the ride. you will soon become a pentaholic
@Newfie Reactions Hi from a fellow Newfie, The blond is Scott Hoying
, the guy with mustache is Mitch Grassi, the girl is Kirsten Maldanado, the beatboxer is Kevin Olusola (also great Cello player) and the bass is Matt Sallee ( the original bass Avi Kaplan) left the group a few years ago and is doing solo work. They won season 3 of the Sing off and have won three grammys for their music.
