It's so obviously him, I don't understand his confusion.
Kevin is a classically trained cello player and has been playing since he was a child. As you saw, he can beat box at the same time. He posted a youtube video of him celloboxing which inspired the others to contact him when they needed a beatboxer to form PTX.
He had to finish taking his finals first because he was about to graduate from Yale. He literally met the others the day before the audition for the Sing Off. They hadn't known each other before. Kevin was recruited into the group.
and he speaks fluent Mandarin. He is one of those rare people who has both hemispheres of his brain active. He can do the creative musical stuff and geeky scientific stuff. His plan was to go to medical school but he got "sidetracked" and won three Grammys instead.

Love Kevin but dancing while playing an instrument is hard. My son is in matching band and there is a reason their band doesn't have string instruments.

To get a fuller appreciation of the talents of Kevin Olusola you need to react to one of his "KOvers" from his personal YT channel. Not only is he a world-class beatboxer, he is also a master at the cello and saxophone having played both at Carnegie Hall while still in high school and a skilled singer with a tenor voice. He even created his own skill called "celloboxing" where he plays cello and beatboxes at the same time, which you just were introduced to. It was a video of this that he posted that convinced the others to ask him to join the group for their victorious run on 'The Sing Off'. On the side he has been experimenting with live looping which allows him to construct entire performances by himself which he appropriately calls KOvers because they are so much more than a cover. The best one I can think of to start with is his rendition of 'Down' by Marion Hill. It has a sample of each of his talents and also contains a face-melting electric cello solo. Good luck, for you might just find yourself in another rabbit hole.
I second all of the above. Kevin is amazing. I was so hung up on Avi when I first discovered this band that I don't think I properly appreciated ANY of the others. That has changed. I hope you'll react to one of Kevin's KOvers VERY soon--and I'm with Jay Holland: the one to start with is "Down."

Kevin's KOver (he goes by KO, so this is pretty clever of him) "Down" is a good place to start. It is a WILD ride though, so buckle up. He really showcases his talent in this and his other KOvers by doing a single take, looping, one-man-show where he sings, plays electric cello and produces all at the same time. And it's crazy good.

If you loved this you should watch their cover of "Papaoutai", it also features Lindsey Stirling and Kevin on the cello, PLUS!! Scott sings the intire thing in French!! It's one of my sleeper favorites, you would LOVE it

As a Canadian you'll probably understand most of the french in Papaourtai. :) Great tune, sad meaning.... but understanding the story helps you understand the video. :)

The few times that they use instruments they are prominently featured in the videos so there is no "tricks" or confusion. Other that feature Kevin celloboxing are 'Say Something', 'Shallow', 'Perfect', and 'Dancing On My Own'.
Was just going to say the same thing--they don't cheat. When they use instruments, you can see them. Also--Lindsey Stirling doesn't sing, to my knowledge. She doesn't need to! She plays violin and dances at the same time and it's wonderful.
Lindsey Stirling was a contestant on America’s Got Talent several years ago. She plays the violin & dances at the same time. She’s pretty incredible! A huge talent in her own right! 😍

Lindsey Stirling is great. I've said it before but it's through her and this song that I discovered Pentatonix.
Mitch and Kirstie are shape shifters. You can always tell what time frame the song is from because of their distinct looks. I love this song. The addition of the violin and cello adds a cool aspect. If there is an instrument in a PTX video, you will see it in the video. They don’t hide it or try to cover it up. I like that. The original of this song is also worth checking out. @@dustinbc28 i am actually not sure if they got that cash - the sources say differently, some mention only the contract, others the cash as well. However, they did live together at the beginning (e.g. Kevin and Avi renting one apartment to save money), so I don't think they were cash rich. More likely it was a standard - cheap unhealthy meals because saving money.
@@TheSuperEmail I've never heard that they didn't get the money. However, $200,000, divided up for five people to move to LA, rent 3 apartments, and live on it... doesn't really go that far or last that long with no other income coming in at first.

This collab Lindsey Stirling had with PTX led me to her music. She is excellent, and her videos and performances also showcase her own "nerdy" interests as well. Lindsey Sterling is legendary with 10s of millions of views if not over half a billion plus . She is an OG of UA-cam music. Look her up! He is a classically trained cellist. Pianist and Saxophonist. A Yale pre med graduate who speaks at least 4 languages and that is a music video.
Almost every one has explained how awesome Kevin is. Mitch lost weight over time, and you can tell what time in their career they are in by the length of Avi's hair and beard. Lindsey Stirling dances and play violin, one of my favorite videos of her is Carol of the Bells.
It's always Mitch, Lindsey Stirling is awesome playing that violin, Shatter Me ft. Lzzy Hale is spectacular, the other two I really enjoy is Roundtable Rival and the Arena. Kevin plays the cello, saxophone and has played at Carnigie Hall by 17 years old, he gives the name over achiever a run for its money, really have to react to Down done by Kevin Olusola on his UA-cam channel.
I will second what others have said, you should definitely check out Kevin Olusola's channel and see his other stuff. He's been playing the cello since he was like 8, he plays other instruments too. And you should also check out Lindsey Stirling's channel too, if you like the violin you will love all her work!!! She dances while she plays and she does actually sing a little bit in a couple of her songs. And yes, that was Mitch. Check out PTX's other collab with Lindsey, Papataoutai, it's all in french.

Love your reaction to this song. It’s often forgotten by reactors or maybe they just don’t know about it, but it’s a hidden gem. Avi’s deep bass line that runs through the whole song just keeps giving it an apocalyptic feel and Kevin’s cello boxing is superb. I too love a goo violin solo. Looking forward to more PTX!

Mitch looks different in almost every video. Check out their version of Jolene that they sing with Dolly Parton (they won a Grammy for this collaboration by the way) - Mitch is bald in this one. When Scott went searching for a beat boxer, he went on UA-cam and found Kevin Olusola, who listed himself as a cello-boxer. Check out Pentatonix’s Sing-off journey, which happened in 2011 to know how this group came to be “Pentatonix”. In my opinion, if one becomes a Pentaholic, then checking out their 2011 season 3 Sing-off journey(A singing competition on NBC) is very informative and entertaining. After the Sing-off, songs with Kevin playing Cello are “Say Something”, “Shallow”, “Dancing In The Dark”, and right after Avi had left the group; “Dancing On My Own” with only Scott, Kirstie, Mitch, & Kevin.

This is one of two collabs PTX did with Lindsey Sterling the other one is Papaoutai, which you might want to react to also. Kevin is multitalented and plays piano, cello, and Saxophone. PTX actually brought him into the group because of his Celloboxing, and not just his beatboxing. Lindsey Sterling is a wonderful violinist, and I'm pretty sure you will now get requests to react to her music also. She also has a YT channel with millions of subscribers.

Okay Kevin is a world class Cellist and Saxophonist I can't recall the exact name of the show but it was filmed at Carnegie Hall and featured young artist. Kevin was 17 at the time and just graduated from high school. That show he played the sax and they had him beatbox.
I first saw Lindsey on Americas got talent. Her audition didn't go very well. A couple years later I saw her do a song or two with Peter Hollens and it was like a different player. She really rocked it. Besides being an excellent violinist she is a very talented dancer.

Kevin plays the cello, the saxophone and the piano. Both Scott and Mitch play the piano (which Mitch has let drift to the side as his interest on turntables grew) and I heard Avi plays guitar, though I've never actually seen him do do. Lindsey Stirling is an accomplished violinist and has had many collaborations with artists from different musical backgrounds, both musicians and singers. If you have a thing for violin, you should check her videos. And you're more than ready for the K-Overs!
Lindsey Stirling is incredible live. She sells out concerts around the world. I've had the privilege of seeing her several times in concert. She puts on amazing shows and her music videos are breathtaking. You should check out her newest one that came out yesterday, Til The Light Goes Out.

Finally number 6 because I forgot it the first time I was in here " Video Killed the Radio Star " it's from when they were doing the game show that propelled them into being Superstars and one of my favorite songs

Lindsey Stirling was on America's got talent and was eliminated in the semifinals. She was told she would never fill an arena! She does alot of collaborations. She has a youtube channel called string sessions..its great
She was also the runner-up on Dancing with the Stars a few seasons ago (she should have won). Since her run on that show, she has started singing in addition to her violin and dancing skills.
Just so you know, most of the PTX members also have side projects and solo channels. So just in case you're curious and want to dabble across accounts, I'm sure you'll find some other gems you'll love. :)
Yup that’s Mitch. This was the first video of PTX that I ever saw and remember thinking he was cute then. Watching him transform into a being of radiant awesomeness over the years has been something.
Haha, yes it is Mitch, he's the chameleon of the group. And Kevin's doing what he likes to call celloboxing. (playing cello and beatboxing at the same time.) Kevin can play cello, piano, and the saxophone, but mostly he plays the cello for his music and a couple of pentatonix songs.
I also think most pentatonix members can play instruments, Scott, Mitch, Avi and Matt all play the piano. Avi is known to play the gutiar for his livestreams. (there are more instruments they can play, but i dont feel like listing them 😂)
Their overall musicality gives them the ability to arrange so well and fluidly. They sound like the instruments they know so well.

That is how Scott, Kristin, and Mitch found Kevin. They saw a YT video of him cello-boxing, and got in contact with him to do the Sing Off (season 3) A Capella singing competition. What I am saying is Kevin was cello-boxing way before joining PTX. You really should watch their Sing Off performances.
Lindsey Sterling is super well known for her playing the violin while dancing. She was even on America's Got Talent. She is awesome. I really liked here with the Piano Guys doing Mission Impossible theme song.

If you want an Avi lead singing experience you should react to their original song Light in the Hallway. There is no video, it's just audio but it is soooooo beautiful

You've GOT to check out some of Lindsey Sterling's videos... she's INSANE. The way she can keep playing and do all the crazy dance moves at the same time is just bonkers.
Kevin was a professional cellist before he met PTX. Also was a med student, speaks fluent Mandarin. They discovered him on UA-cam "cello boxing" . Lindsey Stirling is a woman who plays the violin. Kirsten mostly wrote, and starred in Be My. Eyes.
They are all full of surprises. Every time you think you’ve figured them they will get you again. Kevin is a classically trainer cellist, saxophonist and pianist! He’s a musical (and all round) genius and virtually everyone in the group plays an instrument. I know about Scott and Mitch playing piano and Avi the guitar.
You need to check out PTX's The Sound of Silence! And also Avi Kaplan's Change on the Rise! Both amazing songs. It's so amazing watching someone be drawn down the PTX rabbit hole and become a Pentaholic!

Lindsey Stirling is a dancing violinist that got her start here on UA-cam, went to compete in America's got Talent, and got shut down harshly. She has sense returned as a spotlight act and was before covid 19 touring with five albums. She's done a few collaborations with PTX, as well as some other rock star singers (Evanescence and Lzzy Hale). I would look up Shatter me, that features Lzzy Hale.

I love this song and video so much, so glad you enjoyed it!! It was my first introduction to PTX and I was enthralled from the beginning. I love that you pointed all the things I love about it too - the atmospheric feel, the way they weave in the instruments and the ebb and flow of their sound, their looks and outfits. Lindsey is the violinist. She has her own music too but she also does a lot of collabs. Check out the song SHE wrote called "Shatter Me" featuring Lizzy Hale from Halestorm. You might check out her first real video called Crystallize...it's dub step violin and it's incredible ♥♥♥. And yes, Kevin is playing a cello here. They rarely ever use instruments, but since Lindsey collabed with them on this, they thought the cello would go well with her violin...and they were right :D

I was lucky enough to hear Imagine Dragons do this song in concert (like right at the front). This version is every bit as good as the original.
It's called Celloboxing and yes, that is Mitch. If you question who someone is, it is probably Mitch. He changes his looks all the time. Lindsey is a violinist that dances while performing and she got her recognition start on AGT.
Kirstin & Mitch change their looks a lot; Kevin plays Che cello; regular & electric. He was in the orchestra at Yale. He’s famous for inventing cello boxing.
Mitch and Kirsty are constantly changing their appearance, so yep that's Mitch. Scott plays piano and Mitch also plays piano. I heard one of them plays the harmonica but never seen it in a video.
Lindsey Sterling is amazing. She makes her violin talk, it's spectacular. She was turned down by Simon Cowell on either American Idol or AGT (I'm not in America so not sure which one, it's on UA-cam obviously) and she went on to record and tour and kill it 😉
