Welcome to the world of Pentaholics. They are the most down-to-earth, humble people...and yet, they are UNREAL! They're the only 5 members. Here's a few of their best: Daft Punk Medley, Aha!, Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, La La Latch, This is the Moment, and their Michael Jackson Medley. if you go back and watch their Sing-Off episodes, watch Video Killed the Radio Star, Let's Get It On, Dog Days Are Over, and Born To Be Wild. You're welcome...and enjoy!
One of the original members is no longer there. Don't know why but the black gentleman who sang is not original. Another song they do is "Mary did you know?"
@@daffodil56442 no hes not in the original group. The bassist in the original 5 is Avi Kaplan. He went solo a little over a year ago I think. But I agree with this list completely! One of the best nights of my life is when I went to their concert and got to meet them. They are amazing people.
Scott (tall blond guy), Mitch (high pitched guy with the mullet) and Kirstin were friends and sang together since highschool (and earlier). In 2011 they decided to audition for the show The Sing-Off (accapella competion), but needed a rhytm section. They met Avi (the groups original bass singer) through a friend and found Kevin (beatboxer) through youtube. They ended up winning the show! They've been releasing albums and toured together ever since. In 2017 Avi decided to leave the group for personal reasons, but helped them find their new bass: Matt Sallee (the 3rd soloist in this number). As for other videos of theirs to check out... can't go wrong with their 3 Grammy winners: Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Jolene. I would also recommend their Evolution videos (Evolution of... Music, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Rihanna and Ariana Grande) as well as Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Sing (a PTX orignal), Havanna, New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Hallelujah... But pretty much everything they've done is great.
@@chaeratonic I felt the loss of Avi pretty hard, but one video finally got me on board with Matt as an amazing choice of replacement: "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch". After hearing how impressive he was in that, I still MISS hearing Avi, but I'm psyched for Matt's performances as well.
They're not "A a capella group", they're more like "THE a capella group". The most famous, the most successful, in music history. The number of song recommendations you'll get for them will be somewhat insane.
@@mikaeljalamo4834 are you here to argue Rockapella or Straight No Chaser sold more records than Pentatonix? Boyz II Men did, but they're more rightly classified as an R&B Vocal group.
“I love good music for the sake of good music🤘🏼” Love hearing ppl say that. Who cares if it’s not your “cup of tea”? If you’re a musician or just love music in general you can always enjoy hearing good musicianship no matter the style. Got yourself a new sub with that comment
Another great song of theirs to react to is Hallelujah. To hear Kevin (the beatboxer) sing, a good one is Imagine. They have the same members, except for the bass who changed in 2018 - Matt (who sang the 'in the naked light I saw' verse) replaced Avi. Mitch (mullet guy) and Kirstie change their looks a lot so sometimes people think they are different people lol
@@tysauce1986 I mean, they are still pretty amazing. Matt has done a great job fitting in and brings his own charm to the group. (See Mr. Grinch for an example)
I have been a Pentaholic since they were on The Sing Off and have always loved them. They originally had another member, Avi Kaplin, instead of Matt Sallee, but Matt is amazing and the group remains super! Don't ever stop listening to them - not only are they amazing artists individually and as a group but they are super sweet and humble individuals.Glad you found them and welcome to the family.
I swear I cry when I see people’s initial reactions to Pentatonix. I’ve loved them since their first performances on The Sing Off. When Avi left I was CRUSHED and still am. But they are still sounding better than ever. Your reactions were so genuine.
"I've got goosebumps." Me, every time I listen to a piece of theirs. Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah is my favourite that they covered. Your reaction is awesome.
I felt like a proud dad watching this. Been a fan for a long time! If this is your first hearing Pentatonix then wait till you actually look into them. They are the only 5. There was a different bass named Avi that had to leave the group a few years back but the funny thing is that Scott (the first solo guy) has a higher voice but all of them have huge range and incredible voices. Other song suggestions, Love Again, Can’t Stop Us Now, Sing, hallelujah, Radioactive. Those are just off the top of my head.
alana anderson Yes to both of these! Shallow is also another one that feels a bit more like say something. The vibe. I think i prefer say something to shallow but i’m not sure. It’s a toss up.
The name "Pentatonix" actually comes from the pentatonic scale in music theory. Basically, the pentatonic scale is made up of F#, G#, A#, C#, and D#. These are the in-between notes in a sense, the black keys on the piano that are just a little above or below your standard "natural" pitches... and there are only five of them. Thus, Pentatonix 😊
Well, that is not quite correct. This is not the only pentatonic scale. You have one in every key. Of course the "black keys" one is the most well-known but C-D-E-G-A is just as much a pentatonic scale for example.
The pentatonic scale is what most Korean music is based on. See if you can find an instrumental piece named “Variations on a Korean Folksong”. I loved playing it!!
And have to do both their live version from the sing off and the album version featuring Avi. The album cut is awesome but you really get a feel for how low Tim can go in the live version.
The Bass is the only person who has changed since the group began. The beat box guy ALSO has a superb voice and plays a mean cello too. They are genuinely superb. Glad you got to hear them.
Subscribed. Prepare for Pentaholics to request like everything they've ever done :D. You can't really go wrong with their stuff. They have a pretty high standard they don't go under and even their older stuff is awesome. They can do all of this just as well live, which is one of their selling points. They also do their own arrangements along with their arranger Ben Bram who's usually there to polish the final product. But they've always been very hands-on with everything they do. Someone probably already said that it's just these five. The only member that changed was the guy in the white jacket. He's their new bass. They previously had a different guy for that. If you react to some of their older stuff (up to 2017), you'll see him. Otherwise the line-up haven't changed even though it might seem so sometimes because Kirstie changes her hair color quite often and Mitch (mullet guy) is a chameleon who changes his looks so drastically and so often a lot of new reactors mistake him for a new member every time they react to a video. Their fans can identify a year when a video was made by Mitch's look :D. Anyway, I loved your reaction and hope you'll react to more of their stuff. I'm sure other people already gave you tons of recommendations :).
Haunting.... great word for them! If you don’t get it on this video, goosebumps, tearing up or the heart is about to burst - you are dead, flatlined or on the other side already. Great reaction! Thank you for the share!
Or even "Mary Did you Know". The level of talent in just one of these singers is incredible, and when you put them together, these just isn't anything to compare them with.
UA-cam brought me here for the first time. As I saw your intro I was expecting some crazy cool metal sounds. But then pentatonix, a band I never heard of before, startet, and I was sitting here just as amazed as you were. The youtube algorithm is doing great!
I actually think that this reaction is THE best I’ve ever seen. It’s what we all do the first time we hear Pentatonix. They are just breathtaking. Every single song they do, perfection
I think Home Free is a little better than Pentatonix but we are splitting hairs they are so close. I have not heard enough Voice Play music to draw a fair comparison.
@@wiseoneedarra593 I think Voice Play and Home Free overall are better musically but again with all three groups you are really splitting hairs. All three are amazing and have fantastic vocal performers. Voice Play has the best bass singer in Geoff (Tim is great but Geoff... lord have mercy) and percussions is really a toss up between Kevin, Adam and Layne -- they are all freakin' amazing. Avi was a fantastic bass and vocals for PTX and they have never been able to replace that sound of his.
"This guy's voice is low" - about Scott Hoying! LOL! He needs to go back and listen to some of the songs with Avi (and as their latest bass Matt is no slouch either; and of course though Kevin's usually beatboxing, when he sings he's got an incredible range - not to mention that cello talent). If you haven't heard their "Sing" definitely check it out!
After he does that, he should react to Voctave's arrangement of that same song and compare them. Both acapella, both the same song, but completely different arrangements.
Bohemian Rhapsody Daft Punk Medley (won their first of 3 Grammys) and Halleuia are probably their most popular videos. They also have original music to check out as well. They also have solo mprojects as well. Scott and Mitch have a group called Superfruit with their own UA-cam channel.,covers and original music.
@jace n yo face: Definitely check out RISE by Superfruit if you have not already, it will blow you away. And their GUY.EXE (original) is fun to watch. ua-cam.com/video/U85U3dPuiR4/v-deo.html
Enjoyed your reaction! PTX definitely not JUST an acappella group. They are all incredible musicians. 3 time Grammy winners. Can you believe they covered Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody with just their 5 voices and it sounds beyond good. You might like to try that one next. Or one of their Grammy wins, like Daft Punk Medley maybe. Would love to see you check out a few more! They've covered just about everyone so you can pick something you would like. Everything they do is mind-blowing. Kevin their beatboxer is crazy-good. They started out first 6 years with a different bass singer, but otherwise all the same people from the beginning when they formed the group for a TV show called The Sing Off back in 2011. Can't wait to see what you think of the next one!
I cry every time I hear that song. I know its coming and I still can’t help it. I also have two baby boys lol although they don’t exactly compare Mary’s baby boy 😂, but still! There’s something about it!
Pentatonix rocks in another demention. They will bring tears to your eyes and soul!Listen around Christmas to "Mary, did you know?" and "Little Drummer Boy" I love their music!!!
In the words of another person who reacted to them, finding one person in a group who can sing amazingly is rare and great, but finding five unique voices who can sing together, each with a distinct sound, and all of them share the spotlight. Well that’s nothing short of a miracle
They had another bass singer, Avi Kaplan, who left a couple of years ago to spend more time with his family. Matt is their bass and if you want to hear an amazing song showcasing him, look up their version of “Mr. Grinch.” But really, all of their songs are amazing.
Kevin seldom sings because he is the beatboxer, but he *can* sing, very well. The thing is that when he is singing, there is no percussion, which is pretty foundational for a rock sound. So I'll not recommend any of those songs (although other Pentaholics have already pointed them out). Two of their earlier performances might really interest you--their Daft Punk mashup (seven Daft Punk songs, woven together seamlessly, and a big breakdown at the end where they are singing up to three songs simultaneously) and "Love Again" (an original song of theirs, which is the acme of a cappella EDM). Both have striking visuals and makeup (although the Daft Punk video was produced on a shoestring budget of $400; the audio was recorded in a closet, and the video was shot in an apartment kitchen).
I love watching people react to Pentatonix for the first time because they are so amazing at what they do and always end up blowing people minds. I've been a fan of theirs for about 7 years I think (Since their Daft punk video) and they obviously have to be good if they kept me on for so long. (I constantly change my favourite bands because my style of music constantly changes)
It's just 5 of them. I'm hugely obsessed! Left to right: Matt - Bass (replaced Avi) Kirstin - Mezzo-Soprano Scott - Baritone Mitch - Tenor (the mullet is gone :'( ) Kevin - Beatboxer & cellist (defo check out his cello-boxing) Hallelujah, Can you feel the love tonight, Shallow, Daft Punk, Aha! Say Something & Waving through a window are probably my favourites along with this. They also have an awesome originals album which is amazing. If you want to be floored by mullet-mans voice defo check out Aha! & Hallelujah!
Kristen and Mitch met when they were around 8. Kristen's mom got her in voice lessons, and they both did as much singing as possible. They went to HS together with Scott and again sang as much as possible. They did videos as "The Trio". When the sing-off happened they found Avi and Kevin, had 1 day to rehearse and ended up winning. Damn awesome. Their record company pulled out so they went to UA-cam and rocked it.
If you’re up for it, I always suggest their Daft Punk medley official video followed immediately by their “daft punk private off mic performance” in the same reaction video. It’s fun to see how they translate the studio version to live
Its great seeing you getting your mind blown by PTX - they're incredible, luckily started watching The Sing-Off the season they competed. If you really want to be moved, watch/listen to their song "Run to You".
A little late but here is a bit of a Pentatonix history lesson. Pentatonix first one the sing off show in 2011 with their original base Avi Who left the group in 2017 because of personal reasons. They now have a new base Matt. The members are now Scott, the tall blonde guy, Mitch, the guy with the mullet although he does not have it anymore because he always changes his style every few months or so. Kirsten, and that is the trio who knew each other in high school before the sing off. Then there’s Kevin who is the beat boxer and rarely sings but when he does it’s amazing and beautiful. He also has his own UA-cam channel where he plays the cello and beatboxes at the same time which is amazing and I think that you would really like reacting to it, and of course then there is Matt who is the new bass. Although he isn’t that new anymore since he’s been in the band for three years. Like a lot of the other comments I really think that you would like checking out Pentatonix’s version of imagine, hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, attention, waving through a window, come along, basically anything honestly.
Very nice reaction, there is so much from Pentatonix to react to out there ;) For other acapella groups, you might want to check out Voiceplay or Home Free. Home Free did a great cover of "Ring of fire" featuring the former bass of Pentatonix, Avi Kaplan. Citizen Queen is a really good all girls acapella group. Have fun! ;)
And the guy on the right arranges it all. He actually has my favourite voice out of all of them. He is an amazing all round musician and plays the cello. You can see him sing more on his own channel.
He graduated from Yale with honors, plays the cello and the sax, is fluent in English, Spanish, and Mandarin, and was headed to medical school (already accepted) when Scott contacted him based on one of his UA-cam videos of him beat boxing. Scott made a great sales pitch, and Kevin basically said, 'I can just delay Medical School a year if this singing group thing does not work out', so he joined as the beatboxer. I don't think medical school is in the cards anymore.
Watching your reaction, especially from 5:26 on is exactly what we all feel. They're so good you're almost angry at it. Like they did something wrong, but it was so right. :P Another couple great groups like them are Home Free, and Voice Play.
Subscribed. Highly recommend their Bohemian Rhapsody or Imagine covers for your 2nd reaction, then the next cover. Awww who am I kidding? Go listen to all their music, hope you can cover their originals too. Once Pentaholics discover you, you will be deluged with recommendations and requests. Did I forget to mention 3 Grammys?
Hi! A Septuagenarian Pentaholic here!!! I have been a Pentaholic since I first saw them on The Sing Off, 3rd season, which they won! They just CRUSHED it!!! The original bass is Avi Kaplan who left a couple of years ago for family reasons and they replace him with Matt, who is amazing, but Avi is EVEN MORE amazing. I would suggest you check out “Mary Did You Know?” which is absolutely haunting. I also suggest “Hallelujah.” And if you want to hear Kevin (the main beatboxer) play the cello while beatboxing, check out “Say Something.” Also, “Daft Punk” medley. And you MUST check out Avi Kaplan in his own on video of “Change on the Rise” to hear his magnificent, resonant bass voice. And Avi is able to do something that few people can - he can sing so that overtones start ringing in harmonic vibrations above the one note he is singing. DEFINITELY check out Avi Kaplan’s “Overtone Singing”
The 4:5 of them have gone head-to-head against 18-21 member groups on live-competitions before winning a record-contract; and have been touring (sold-out for years now); still awesome!

"Mary did you know" is the best pentatonix vibe. It makes me cry Every.Single.Time. Do it. You won't be disappointed.
Yasssss.
Jasmine, definitely!!!! I cry too, every time!!
Oh my gosh...me too. Every time, I am moved to tears
yes...it is crazy good
**pauses right before Matt's octave drop**
Me: ohOHO
Ikr literally me
That octave drop was truly dope.
Yup. Saw that too. I’m like dude two more seconds
If it hasn't been mentioned, the Daft Punk medley is just stellar.
He has done that video a few days after this one, check his channel
The Royals cover is probably my favorite with Daft Punk being a very close second.
@@naomiswart3760 yeah, I commented, searched, watched. :) I'm impatient.
Yes my friend Daft Punk stupendous. Mary Did You Know... stellar
Oh yeah. Definitely the Sing Off Lets Get it On!!!!
Definitely Bohemian Rhapsody. Stellar.
Don't forget Love Lockdown! That version is so ear candy!!!!
Doesn’t matter how many times I hear Mitch grassi sing, goosebumps every time.
Me too.. every single time.
Thank you for the backstory! It really helps me appreciate their music that much more! So much talent in this video.
You can also react to their entire journey from The Sing Off which was a weekly competition show.
After all this time I still miss Avi in the group 🥺😭
@@chaeratonic I felt the loss of Avi pretty hard, but one video finally got me on board with Matt as an amazing choice of replacement: "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch". After hearing how impressive he was in that, I still MISS hearing Avi, but I'm psyched for Matt's performances as well.
@@SpiritOfWanderlust yes I love that song it helped me realize Matt's talent
They're not "A a capella group", they're more like "THE a capella group". The most famous, the most successful, in music history. The number of song recommendations you'll get for them will be somewhat insane.
WileyCoyote69 andI want to specifically mention their three Emmy awards!
Them and home free
"the most famous acapella group is music history" LMAO what a joke.
@@mikaeljalamo4834 are you here to argue Rockapella or Straight No Chaser sold more records than Pentatonix? Boyz II Men did, but they're more rightly classified as an R&B Vocal group.
@@mikaeljalamo4834 Give us your example ;)
I was also going to suggest “Imagine” for a good sample of Kevin’s singing, along with the fact that it’s just plain awesome.
I totally agree, Hallelujah is a must for you to listen to, amazing!! 😯
First 10 seconds: "This dude's voice is so deep."
Me: I miss Avi
I knew ptx would never be the same. I appreciate why Avi left and where he is now musically. But man the original 5 are just unbelievable.
@@tysauce1986 I mean, they are still pretty amazing. Matt has done a great job fitting in and brings his own charm to the group. (See Mr. Grinch for an example)
I feel you. I felt the lack of bass immediately. The chords feel a little top-heavy.
@@tysauce1986 very true.
Exactly.... they are missing that deep solid, soulful bass sound. Avi is a hard voice to replace.
I think you mean "The Sing Off", right? Or were they also on something called The Sing Along and I missed it?
@@eiznekcamekim totally what I meant, and thought I typed, but no, typo 🤦🏻♀️. TY.
Me too. I teach special education and my kids absolutely love Hallelujah. They all know that Mitch is my favorite.
The quality of their humanity definitely is under appreciated.
Hallelujah is fantastic and shows Avis talent beautifully
Absolutely 10000000% Agree..... I am a choreographer and this song to date has to have been what I loved working with the most!
Beautiful! I love Mary Did you Know.
@@troynewhoff9542 makes me cry...every time ❤
Their version of Hallelujah is my most favorite song
I felt like a proud dad watching this. Been a fan for a long time! If this is your first hearing Pentatonix then wait till you actually look into them.
They are the only 5. There was a different bass named Avi that had to leave the group a few years back but the funny thing is that Scott (the first solo guy) has a higher voice but all of them have huge range and incredible voices.
Other song suggestions, Love Again, Can’t Stop Us Now, Sing, hallelujah, Radioactive. Those are just off the top of my head.
If you liked that, their version of Mary did you know and say something will change your damn life......#pentaholic4life.
alana anderson Yes to both of these! Shallow is also another one that feels a bit more like say something. The vibe. I think i prefer say something to shallow but i’m not sure. It’s a toss up.
Tears Flo just of the thought
@Mikala Baker Me too! And I'm a man in his 50s. Their voices exude emotion. The last note of "Come Along" has me in puddles because it's sooooo tight.
Yes
Literally the best thing I've ever heard
Oh....be prepared! The Pentaholics are ready for you. Lots of suggestions, info and tons of songs to react to. Just have fun and enjoy the ride!!!
Whaaaat! So cool!
Well, that is not quite correct. This is not the only pentatonic scale. You have one in every key. Of course the "black keys" one is the most well-known but C-D-E-G-A is just as much a pentatonic scale for example.
@@samuellabrecque880 interesting.
The pentatonic scale is what most Korean music is based on. See if you can find an instrumental piece named “Variations on a Korean Folksong”. I loved playing it!!
You're going to love their version of "come along" it's crazy good😍
Shay maslo it’s one of my favs of theirs but requested so little. It’s just fun! 😁
@@jenniesue8129 I have so many I want people to watch it's crazy 😂
You want bass? "Home Free" 'Ring of Fire'.
And have to do both their live version from the sing off and the album version featuring Avi. The album cut is awesome but you really get a feel for how low Tim can go in the live version.
Also the cover of "The Oogie Boogie Song" as done by Voiceplay. It gets about as low as Home Free does in "Ring of Fire".
@@JeshuaSquirrel a half step lower I believe ;)
Yes!!! My exact thoughts!!!
First, there was Pentatonix, NOW there's HOME FREE!
Nothing like these 2 groups!
Matt's riffs are insane! I love watching people react to pentatonix for the first time. My friend enjoy them. They will blow your mind every time
The Bass is the only person who has changed since the group began. The beat box guy ALSO has a superb voice and plays a mean cello too. They are genuinely superb. Glad you got to hear them.
I'm a massive pentaholic and I was going into this like "if you hate them you're in trouble" but you liked them so I'm fine
I totally loved your open mouthed expression!! Great reaction😁😁
Try pentatonics with lindsey sterling. They did radioactive together.
That one is my favourite Pentatonix recording, I think. It's hard to choose a favourite really. Miles better than Imagine Dragons' original!
how bout no, Sterling is such a god awful mediocre ass violinist
They did Papaoutai (I think I spelled that right) with her too
Fantastik. One ov my favs
@@Vlad-vb8lo sure she ain't the best violinist.
but I don't know any violinists that can dance AND play violin AND make it sound awesome
All that in one breath?
@@sean1849 Lol. You know me. Hope you're well, Sean :).
Haunting.... great word for them! If you don’t get it on this video, goosebumps, tearing up or the heart is about to burst - you are dead, flatlined or on the other side already. Great reaction! Thank you for the share!
"I wanna hear her sing, I wanna see what she's got."
Me: Yes, you really do.
If you want to hear the beatboxer (Kevin) sing, definitely listen to Imagine.
Same!!🙂
Yes! That one will give you chills - 37M views gives you a clue how good... and their "Hallelujah" has 514M (not a typo)
And definitely watch “Imagine”! What they do with those cards adds to its meaning.
Or look up their appearance on Sesame Street, counting to five ;)
Or even "Mary Did you Know". The level of talent in just one of these singers is incredible, and when you put them together, these just isn't anything to compare them with.
UA-cam brought me here for the first time. As I saw your intro I was expecting some crazy cool metal sounds. But then pentatonix, a band I never heard of before, startet, and I was sitting here just as amazed as you were.
The youtube algorithm is doing great!
If you not seen pentatonics before definitely look up some of the videos recommend here. They're an amazing band.
"I've never heard an acapella group like them" that's probably cause there isn't one
Sure there are many great ones but they are in their own league
I actually think that this reaction is THE best I’ve ever seen. It’s what we all do the first time we hear Pentatonix. They are just breathtaking. Every single song they do, perfection
I'd say probably the group's that come closest are Home Free and VoicePlay, but I agree that no one else has really come close to matching them.
Check out the group called Straight no Chaser, 12 days of Christmas. Some of the best acapella ever!
I'd recommend their "Radioactive" with Lindsey Stirling.
Same, great video
The absolute bomb!!! I actually thought it was their song until I found the original artists!
Little Drummer Boy was my introduction
ya I thought it was their song also...it was so goog
good
Absolutely! This version is over the top!
Hearing them live is AMAZING! They can fill a stadium without mics, and still have tone control! One of the best live acts I have seen.
And Kevin, the beatboxer has a voice every bit as good as the others.
Right. The first time I heard him sing I was blown away.
I totally agree. His is my favourite voice actually.
I saw them in concert and I was so excited when Kevin brought out his cello and celloboxed. I cried.
It's not "their version", it's an original song. I'm just saying. Love your comment though!
Sing is an original, is their song
I love witnessing your mind being blown by the force that is PTX
Take a minute to go through their Christmas selection Mary did you know and carol of the bells and hallelujah give me straight chills!
After he does that, he should react to Voctave's arrangement of that same song and compare them. Both acapella, both the same song, but completely different arrangements.
Hallelujah is one of my favourites from them
Mine too. Also I love Gold and Mary did you know, 90's medley, and Daft Punk, and.......
All of them!!!
Hallelujah will make you cry
Bohemian Rhapsody Daft Punk Medley (won their first of 3 Grammys) and Halleuia are probably their most popular videos. They also have original music to check out as well. They also have solo mprojects as well. Scott and Mitch have a group called Superfruit with their own UA-cam channel.,covers and original music.
@jace n yo face: Definitely check out RISE by Superfruit if you have not already, it will blow you away. And their GUY.EXE (original) is fun to watch. ua-cam.com/video/U85U3dPuiR4/v-deo.html
That is the think about PTX. Most groups have one or two people that carry the group. In PTX, they are all AMAIZING!!
Always such a thrill to watch someone discovering PTX. Please react to more of their stuff. I look forward to waking the journey with you.
I was brought here by the algorithm and man, I love watching peoples heads explode at how talented PTX is
Same!
"Just an Acapella group" is in this case similar to "Just a symphony orchestra."
You can hear Kevin sing more in "Mary did you know?"
I cry every time I hear that song. I know its coming and I still can’t help it. I also have two baby boys lol although they don’t exactly compare Mary’s baby boy 😂, but still! There’s something about it!
that's my favourite song of theirs
Yes i love their cover of that song!
You need to listen to Mary Did You Know
Pentatonix rocks in another demention. They will bring tears to your eyes and soul!Listen around Christmas to "Mary, did you know?" and "Little Drummer Boy" I love their music!!!
The way he has to say "sorry" for pausing because y'all complaine about it
Right. Whiners!
Another powerful rendition of the Sound of Silence is Disturbed.
Disturbed did okay. Compared to this, Disturbed isn't even close to them.
The original artists of the sound of silence loved the disturbed version
Disturbed is THE best version of this song but this one is amazing also
Pretty sure they’re doing Disturbed version a cappella. They do add their own flare to it though.
These guys ROCK!, I can't get enough of them......feckin awesome!
In the words of another person who reacted to them, finding one person in a group who can sing amazingly is rare and great, but finding five unique voices who can sing together, each with a distinct sound, and all of them share the spotlight. Well that’s nothing short of a miracle
Whoever said that is absolutely spot on! They're awesome. Thanks for rocking with me
been binging PTX since the very early 10s when their videos counted just a few thousand views. legends
I love watching people reacting to Pentatonix! They are incredible.
They had another bass singer, Avi Kaplan, who left a couple of years ago to spend more time with his family. Matt is their bass and if you want to hear an amazing song showcasing him, look up their version of “Mr. Grinch.”
But really, all of their songs are amazing.
When he says wow Scott’s voice is deep
Me: Just thinks of the actual bass in the group
lolololololololololol
I love how genuine your reaction is!
The Daft Punk video also won them ... their first? Grammy. :)
Yep! They've won three now, and one of them was for a genre they barely perform, country. They did a collab with Dolly Parton on Jolene.
the Daft Punk medley is what introduced me to Pentatonix. i still watch it frequently because it's just so... wow...
Enjoy the Pentatonix journey you have just begun. It’s a wonderful ride
I appreciate you appreciating good music for the sake of music, that rocks! Thank you for your reactions. Liked and subscribed.
It's just 5 of them. I'm hugely obsessed!
Left to right:
Matt - Bass (replaced Avi)
Kirstin - Mezzo-Soprano
Scott - Baritone
Mitch - Tenor (the mullet is gone :'( )
Kevin - Beatboxer & cellist (defo check out his cello-boxing)
Hallelujah, Can you feel the love tonight, Shallow, Daft Punk, Aha!
The algorithm brought me here 8 months later, and seeing your initial reactions to them helped me get goosebumps listening to them again.
Aaaand, they ARRANGE the melodies themselves! They are freakin' vocal geniuses!
This is their absolute best song. Everyone shines here.
If you’re up for it, I always suggest their Daft Punk medley official video followed immediately by their “daft punk private off mic performance” in the same reaction video. It’s fun to see how they translate the studio version to live
Megan I second this recommendation
Absolutely!!!

Pentatonix version of “Carol of the Bells” is also very very good. And their version ”Daft Punk”....you can really explore them further!!!
Love your reaction and appreciation for them ❤️
Its great seeing you getting your mind blown by PTX - they're incredible, luckily started watching The Sing-Off the season they competed. If you really want to be moved, watch/listen to their song "Run to You".
If this is the musical equivalent of getting punched in the face, then Disturb's version of this song is getting your head stamped on.
Impressed you figured there would be five of them as they are Penta tonix
Love to see your reaction to PTX Bohemian Rhapsody. And their Love Again video, which is an original song.
It doesnt matter what they sing they are AWESOME!! And better yet JUST as awesome in a live show!
Very nice reaction, there is so much from Pentatonix to react to out there ;)
For other acapella groups, you might want to check out Voiceplay or Home Free.
It doesn't matter which genre of music your into. This is pure class
Kevin, the beat boxer, has a beautiful voice, plays the cello, and piano, and Lord knows, he probably does more. They are all extremely talented.
Back in the day, their cover of "Radioactive" simultaneously introduced me to both them _and_ Lindsey Stirling.
I've listen to this song so many time and i still get goose bumps....
Watching your reaction, especially from 5:26 on is exactly what we all feel. They're so good you're almost angry at it. Like they did something wrong, but it was so right. :P
Another couple great groups like them are Home Free, and Voice Play.
i'd say he was flabbergasted, like the human version of Does Not Compute
Bohemian Rhapsody was phenomenal. 🤘

Watching you react to Pentatonix was such an experience. Your faces wowed are the best
for an added benefit, Find and listen to "Carol of the Bells" : not a rock song (Christmas) but the arrangement is on track!
The 4:5 of them have gone head-to-head against 18-21 member groups on live-competitions before winning a record-contract; and have been touring (sold-out for years now); still awesome!
You do a great reaction! Pentatonix is simply amazing! Well done!
"This is just an acapella group!" Nope....it's Pentatonix. :) Welcome to the Pentaholics!
Yes welcome
