It is Friggin Cool. Kirstie wrote this song. It's about having friends that can see from the outside what you're going through when you can't see it clearly & they can be your eyes that you trust to tell you the truth. IMO.
I like your take. This song kind of reminded me of the Little House on the Prairie books. In one of the books, Laura (main character) is heartbroken when her sister Mary goes blind after a febrile illness. Her father ("Pa") tells her that it is now her responsibility to be her sister's "eyes." So wherever they go, she lets Mary know where she is and where she is going, with descriptive language to take Mary there even though she lives in darkness. So your interpretation is a little bit like this-if Kirstin is "blind" in a given situation, it's up to her friend to tell her what is really there, and do it in a way that Kirstin can in turn "see it" from this perspective.
For me, this song is about how people with anxiety and depression can sometimes get spun up into a false world. And a good friend or significant other cand be the person that says....stop...you're ok, it's going to be ok. You're not a failure, you're not an imposter, you're a good friend....today is just a bad day. When you have depression, your brain lies to you. So you need outside people to help you get a sense of reality.

I love it that the whole video was focused on Kirstin. 'Come Along' is worth checking out too, it's really upbeat and I love it. Its a song by Cosmo Sheldrake with a touch of Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky thrown in. Really shows PTX's many talents.
I think Sound of Silence is the only really big one you haven't done yet? That's a must do! You know I loved this one! 😍 I loved that she wrote this and took lead, the boys did a great job backing her up! I loved Mitch harmonizing in his high register. All around friggin loved it lol. I take this song to be about someone being there to be honest and ground you in reality when your self esteem is at the lowest. Because when the "inside voices" take over you can't trust your own perception.
Very enjoyable and uplifting song isn't it? They are simply amazing! The beginning and general rhythm reminds me a bit of "Orinoco Flows" from Enya Kirstin voice is gorgeous... check more or her doing at "Rather be" or "Say something" See you in the next one
Love that Kirstie takes center stage on this one and it is certainly more her style than some of the other PTX ones so no surprise that she wrote it. I love her voice and also the subtle high harmony that Mitch is doing in this. Also I believe Scott is mostly helping out with creating the lower sounds with Matt. Very cool pop groove in this one gives a nice change to their usual sound and shows off, yet again, their versatility.
That was what I caught with Scott and Matt. Scott was carrying a lot of the rhythmic Bass when Matt was singing during the chorus. It was pretty much Scott and Matt switching bass back and forth for this one but Scott was bass a whole lot more often in this song than we normally see, and it worked! I see that as another trick Pentatonix has up their sleeve to work with. And I loved that they had Mitch singing Harmony to Kirstie's lead while the other three took care of the Rhythm and filler to round out the sound. Kirstie did such a grest job writing and performing this! ❤️
@@mecfstraveler Yes; you could say that the boys don't sing much here, but what is amazing about this piece is how full the sound is, and they are only getting that with all of them contributing. I've heard this a dozen times and I still can't get over that they are creating this sound with only vocals. Somehow it's even more unbelievable here than in their other songs (as incredible as they all are).
What you heard, that you think you've heard before..., use the same cadence and sing, "Sail away, sail away, sail away...". I am so proud of her, this is the third PTX song that she has written. It really shows her particular style and flair, like her solo EP "Love". Love was dark, but really good and showed a good bit of her soul at that time in her life. Now she has Ben, and this is what she writes and this video really reveals the Angel she truly is. When she posted an instagram pic of this look, after another one of her online make courses from their previous makeup artist, she called it "Glamour Bomb", I saved it to a file as "Goddess Revealed". She has finally taken a big step through the "Doorway" and fully embraced herself. There are a few lines that indicate she really appreciates the person Ben is, when she is not "Feeling it" herself and there are too many inner voices of doubt. Lol, yeah, she's beat-boxing too, they all are here and there. The opening notes, the bright ones, two voices making one note equals Kirstie and Mitch synced up, then Scott takes over when Kirstie starts singing. You can hear the tonal change. Oh no, this is normal original PTX stuff, you really should checkout their previous original album. The most "Normal" thing about PTX is, They are extremely eclectic!!! Be my eye's when I can't see what the hell is going on in my own life that I should be aware of, keep me headed in the right direction when I can't see my way forward. I trust you with my very life. That is the sentiment in basic form. She's deep, she's intelligent and she's "All that and then some", and now she is aware of the depth and complexity of herself and life. Great reaction ! I like this new, fresh, pop song ! It's another original song for them. Makes me want to sway back and forth. The men are awesome backing her on this, with Mitch harmony, and everyone contributing. Loved it ! Mitch always wears big clothes, and this week helped open the Balenciaga Fashion Show ! He usually hides his tattoos. In some live shows he's very beautifully dressed. This is visually stunning, and each person looks sexy ! Thank you !
I think Scott was in the background with basically no real hearing him, besides harmonizing with everyone, because since this is Kirsty's song, he wanted to showcase her and her talents and let her shine. He's such a good guy! what a sweetheart :)

Ive been waiting for you to react. LOL Not disappointed. Happy face. The first 15 secs are reminiscent of Orinoco Flow(Sail Away) by Enya back in the early 90s, but the song is Kirsten's. For me it meant, we live in a world of shattered, distorted, shards and deflections reflections of life and distracts us. And asking "be my eyes" for when you are distracted and feeling lost, not at your best and have someone around to ground you and focus things when you cant do it alone. Of course Im an old cynical woman, But I love the joy, the way Kevin and Matt just throw themselves into the enjoyment, bass and beats, Mitch...his pairing with Kirstin, was amazing, but I didnt have to strain to hear scotts voice making it just gorgeous. And you danced in your chair... love it

Kirstin does wear glasses. We have also seen Mitch, Kevin, and Scott wear them. I wouldn't classify that as a "problem". It's just something ya need to deal with that is manageable until it isn't. I've not heard anything to indicate she is at that point.

Kirstie wrote this song and the rest of the PTX members decided she should have the lead throughout the whole song. I LOVE this song and it sounds a bit familiar to Enya's "Sail Away" The second half of this song brings Me to tears because of the backing vocals (Especially Mitch going falsetto) with Kirstin's great lead; It's incredibly beautiful. Great reaction as always Eddie! I love this new original song! Kirstie does a beautiful job in her lower register and is so solid and melodic throughout. But, oh, Mitch! I love both those high harmonies and his lower register flowing throughout. Kevin looking so blasé in the beginning as he just calmly beatboxes his heart out and then about midpoint just breaks loose and is fully into it and jamming away. The bass drop by Matt and the supporting bass by Scott was awesome as well. Love the entire thing although I have to say the focus on the eyes freaks me out a little 😉 The base melody in the song gives me big Enya Orinoco Flow vibes. I love how into it you always get as well. Keep it up! Looking forward to some of Mitch’s solo work which is due to come out today I think.
I don't think you've heard many other originals except Happy Now. You should do their PopSpring performance from2016. It's like15 minutes and it's four songs. Three originals and of those is a Kirsten led one too.

Knew you'd love this one bc it's all Kirstie 😃. I had the same "why does this sound familiar" moment you did. Thankfully there are others in the comments with better memories than me to clue me in to the fact that it is very Enya reminiscent.
The familiar part feels like Orinoco Flow from Enya. There is some Lion King influence in the bass and rhythm lines as well. Excellent new music from Kirstie and the whole PTX crew.
I also like to think of things literally, like a blind person needs someone else to literally be their eyes because they cannot see. There are many ways I can see (no pun intended lol) this song can be interpreted.

Please please check out her solo work!!! It's very different than PTX, more like this one, but you will love it! Look for Break A Little, Naked, All Night and Bad Weather. Also check out Water by PTX, she also wrote that song and takes the lead too.
Definitely need to look at song of silence next and if you want an original Sing from their first original album is one of my favourites . For a non PTX option (although I am obsessed with them) try reacting to Hozier (pronounced like cozier) Nina Cried Power. It’s amazing.

Ive been waiting for you to react. LOL Not disappointed. Happy face. The first 15 secs are reminiscent of Orinoco Flow(Sail Away) by Enya back in the early 90s, but the song is Kirsten's. For me it meant, we live in a world of shattered, distorted, shards and deflections reflections of life and distracts us. And asking "be my eyes" for when you are distracted and feeling lost, not at your best and have someone around to ground you and focus things when you cant do it alone. Of course Im an old cynical woman, But I love the joy, the way Kevin and Matt just throw themselves into the enjoyment, bass and beats, Mitch...his pairing with Kirstin, was amazing, but I didnt have to strain to hear scotts voice making it just gorgeous. And you danced in your chair... love it

Kirstin does wear glasses. We have also seen Mitch, Kevin, and Scott wear them. I wouldn't classify that as a "problem". It's just something ya need to deal with that is manageable until it isn't. I've not heard anything to indicate she is at that point.

The second half of this song brings Me to tears because of the backing vocals (Especially Mitch going falsetto) with Kirstin's great lead; It's incredibly beautiful. Great reaction as always Eddie! I love this new original song! Kirstie does a beautiful job in her lower register and is so solid and melodic throughout. But, oh, Mitch! I love both those high harmonies and his lower register flowing throughout. Kevin looking so blasé in the beginning as he just calmly beatboxes his heart out and then about midpoint just breaks loose and is fully into it and jamming away. The bass drop by Matt and the supporting bass by Scott was awesome as well. Love the entire thing although I have to say the focus on the eyes freaks me out a little 😉 The base melody in the song gives me big Enya Orinoco Flow vibes. I love how into it you always get as well. Keep it up! Looking forward to some of Mitch’s solo work which is due to come out today I think.
