Glock designed the 43X specifically for concealed carry.
After the introduction of the Glock 43 in 2015 Sig Sauer came out with the P365 in 2018, the only problem is it was plagued with problems and to some extent still is. Glock answered with the 43X in 2019 to produce a shootable, single stack 9mm with 10 round capacity that would actually work when you need it to.
My purpose in this review is not an exhaustive review of the G43X, but simply my view of this gun from a concealed carry self-defense perspective.
The primary considerations for my concealed carry gun are size, capacity and caliber. My concealed carry formula is always to choose the smallest overall sized gun that is shootable, does not severely limit ammunition capacity and shoots an effectively, lethal self-defense round. Let’s look at how well the Glock 43X fits this formula.

I’ve been in law enforcement for 27 years, I switched from carrying the Glock 27 to this Glock 43X off duty due to a slim profile and having the shield arms 15 round mags that are the same exact footprint as the original Glock mags. You cannot go wrong. I am so impressed with this little bugger. Carry the shield arms mags and the handgun itself and a spare and you have 31 rounds of fight

LUV my 43x as my EDC. I added the Shield Arms mag and metal mag release for 15 round capacity. Also chunked the plastic guide rod for a CDS stainless steel guide rod at 15 lbs instead of the factory 17 lbs. It makes the slide a little easier to rack but also makes the gun shoot noticably smoother. Added a Talon rubber grip. I don't know of a better CCW.

I am subscribed to over 100 channels, and your is my favorite channel hands down. You give the info, minimize the hype, and just lay it out in a great way. Kudos, sir. And God bless you and your family, please keep the videos coming!
Now, on the 43X, DEAD NUTS ON. I'm a Glock guy, after many years of having lots of brands, I have really come back to the reliability being at the top of the line. I will take the "lack of innovation" if it works every single time. (And thank you for mentioning the Sig issues, they have their hands full right now). The 43X, to me, was not my first choice, but I can't put it down. It's my appendix rig. I prefer the 26 and that versatility, or my 19, in many ways, but that 43X carries and shoots so well that I can't put it away. And yes, I'm going to try one of the PSA magazines, which I'm actually waiting to have delivered right now). But I carry reloads for it, and they are easy to put in your pocket, and it's just a really fantastic gun. And I have not once, out of owning two of them, had a malfunction. If I had to thin down my collection down, it would go before I would let the 26 or 19 go, but it would break my heart at the same time.

Anthony, awesome video which was no surprise brother. I carry the Blue Label Glock 43X with the Shield 15 round magazines giving me 15 9mm rounds plus one in the pipe! I bought mine years ago from GT Distributors with night sights for right around $400. It shoots effortlessly and easily. Like you mentioned, this firearm checks all the boxes and is accurate as heck right out of the box! I’ve honestly tried carrying other 9mm’s; however, I keep returning to my 43X where I’m quite comfortable and moreover, confident! As a retired LEO, I understand the necessity to expect your duty weapon to go “boom” when you need it to. One night while on duty as the night mission helicopter aircraft commander, we were watching our LEO K9 handler track a murder suspect into Tampa Bay. The subject actually tried to kill both the K9 and our LEO handler. Well, we carry Glock 21 .45 ACP’s. The deputies firearm was shot several times (under water) until the suspect was neutralized.
I’ve carried Glock exclusively my whole career and now into retirement.

This is an outstanding review, both for the G43X and 9mm in general. Well-done. Further, Palmetto State Armory now offers a 15-round mag that fits the G43X (and the G48) that does not require you to change the mag release on your Glock. And from what I have seen the reviews are very good on this magazine. (You may want to review this magazine.)

I have two 43x one with rail the other with no rail and also have a shield for ccw. But I feel the 43x out preforms the shield in every aspect specially the shape of the grip. Sig is cool but I've been to the shooting range and some uspsa matches with my good fried who has a the Sig 365 and there has been countless times where he has had light primer strikes on his. It got to the point in during a uspsa mach we decided to collect them and put them on the 43x magazine and sure enough the 43x had no problems. I am being bias but Glock for the win for me. Excellent review and analysis of the Glock 43x. I carry the Glock 19 in the months where I have a jacket and the 43x in the warmer months when I just have a t-shirt and shorts. The 43x is reliable, easily concealed and the 9mm is a proven combat round with minimal recoil. Glocks just work and I would rather have 10 rounds for sure with the 43x than 12 or 15 rounds maybe with some other gun manufacturer.

I have the G43X and it’s a fantastic pistol and I’ve carried it for a long time and still do, but I actually prefer to carry my M&P Shield Plus! I owe no allegiance to any one gun manufacturer and I buy and use what I find reliable and suits me the best, but saying that I own more Glocks than any other brand! For me it comes down to the fact that my Shield Plus is optics ready and has better capacity over my G43X, but I am going to get the slide milled and I have picked up a few PSA micro dagger magazines so once I vet those and add a dot…who knows!!! One other thing I can say is regardless of what pistol I am carrying, it’s always in a Tenicor Velo4 appendix holster, they’re the best in the business!!!

You can put a 17rd mag in the p365 to achieve a full grip, plus 7 more rds while basically sharing the same dimensions as the 43x. You can drop the 10rd mag in the 365 to shorten it up if need be. Also choose which slide fits you best in multiple combinations for your carry needs. G26 is my carry choice but the p365 is undoubtedly the king of configuration. Which carries or shoots best is all personal opinion

Oh yeah… 9, 40, 45, 380… I am learning to like 9 mm. It has not been easy, and I still disagree with "it's just as good as the bigger calibers", simply because law enforcement recruits can't handle the recoil of the bigger calibers in the two times a year that they actually shoot 100 rounds through them… But I digress lol. I do have concerns about its ability in gunfights, after watching a lot of police videos where it's taking so many rounds to drop the bad guy. (I also have concerns because I've talked to a lot of people in law-enforcement who consider 9mm to be a minimal round for actually stopping somebody). Regardless, I carry 9 mm because I've had two back surgeries, and 45 is just plain heavy, even if I shoot it better and think it's a better round. I also really like 40 cal, I just don't have any pistols chambered for it. And I don't really wanna have to add another caliber to build ammo storage for. .380, that's a pocket get off me pistol. And I love 10 mm as well but I also do not fall on the new bandwagon of it being the greatest self-defense cartridge. It's a little too powerful for that, it is my woods caliber. So for me, 9 mm most of the time, .45 when I want the heavier fire power and am feeling froggy, and 10 mm when I go through the woods. .380 when I'm going to the grocery store up the road to get a soda, and I don't expect anything to happen. 😊 There. Hey, you asked is for comments! 😂😂😂😂

    • @SpecialAgentW
      @SpecialAgentW 11 місяців тому +1

Insightful comment, Sir, perhaps more than you know. As you may be aware, LE caliber decisions are usually made from the top of a given state's police, patrol, and/or investigative agency and most other agencies within that state follow suit. The considerations that are made in that decision are certainly most heavily influenced by budget, but along with that does, in fact, come the thought of ammo availability once the excrement hits the fan. For civilians, that scenario can be horrific in a "without rule of law" scenario and the same thought must be given to those occasions when we, as you stated "don't expect anything to happen". That's when, unfortunately, we will need our, potentially lethal, defensive tools most. We must always be prepared, and not in the sense of a green webelos scout heading out to camp, which means carrying the tools and ammunition that best suits the circumstances we may face in a given moment. No one has a crystal ball to read the future, but making the best educated decision for what to carry and when is solely based on our own judgment in terms of HIGH or LOW probability for armed conflict.
All that said, that concept doesn't only apply to caliber of ammunition.
Contrary to the opinion of this video's producer, there is a world of superior equipment available for discrete, concealed carry that "checks all the same boxes" as the piece fawned-over here. I won't mention any of them by name so as not to polarize the ire already expected in retort, but it would literally be any other handgun the user may find him/herself more comfortable carrying. Grandfather Glock may be that tool, but it's far from being as great as it's touted from an objective standpoint -which is NOT what we've been presented. The truth of this matter is that the carry firearm discussion/debate has very much gone the way of the age-old Ford vs Chevy conversation; it's absolutely no different.
I prepared for my first qualification with .357Magnum, then began my career when .40 was king in my state. Then we suffered through .45GAP and now we've resorted to 9mm. All the while I've carried .45ACP and occasionally 9mm on my own time.
Shooters needed to find the "perfect" platform and caliber that best suits their personal tastes and needs and train with that. Purchase. Train. Carry. ...in that order; ignoring the sales pitches from the gallery ...and, as always, being that good man who "always knows his limitations".

I had a 43 initially, for my wife as we qualified together. She decided not to get her license, so while I had a Kahr CM9 for carry, I switched the the 43 for the reliability factor.
Fast forward a bit, the 365, g43X, and Hellcat all came out. The Taurus G3C also came out. I wanted the 365, till I picked it up, oh and all the issues, never mind.
I loved the sight picture of the Hellcat. Then I picked it up. The CM9 felt more like a real gun than the 365 or Hellcat. I got the 43X and the G3C. The Taurus G3C was made for carry. It conceals better than the G43X, I wound up selling that and the 43 along with the Kahr and got another stainless G3C.
I had tried steel cased ammo when I had both Glocks and the CM9. 3 light strikes later, I had doubts about this G3C.
After a light strike on a premium hollow point round, I sold both of those.
I should have kept the Glocks, now I carry a larger pistol, a Beretta 92X.
I figure no one cases what’s under your shirt. Mine conceals as well as the 43X did. Go figure. At least I have 19 rounds.
I tried the S15 mags, like the light strikes, you can’t trust them. Those micro Daggers are promising.

I have three sigs, p365x at 6100 rounds, p365xl at 9500 rounds, xmacro at 4300 rounds, the p365x and the xmacro have no issue at all, my p365xl had a few failed to extract at 8500 rounds, I replaced with a new extractor kit ($20), run through additional 1000 rounds flawlessly. I carry them all and I am pretty accurate with p365s, I shoot 3-4 inch groups at 25 yards. I could be a lucky guy with sigs. I have a glock 19 gen4 at 12000 rounds, only one failed to feed at round 8000, put in new recoil spring, still going strong. Glock would be a better reliable pistol but they are all good enough for me.

  • @avera9636

43X is a great EDC/SD firearm. . . this is my wife's EDC, while I prefer the Sig offerings. I have experimented with my wife's 43X extensively and have nothing but good things to say. The ONE area I attempted to improve upon is delving into the Shield Arms S15 mag and corresponding mag catch to give my wife the desirable +5 rounds. Endless debates online about S15 reliability/function. I will tell you I have four Gen2 and two Gen3 S15 mags with hundreds of rounds through all of them and the ONLY issue I have ever experienced is periodic failure of the slide to lock on magazine emptying. Despite no adverse experience with the S15 mag catch/mag combo, I did revert back to the OEM Glock mag catch and 10-round magazines for my wife. (1) If my wife cannot get out of a mess with 10 rounds and back-up of another 10 rounds, she would not get out with five more rounds. We are not talking about a military zone with multiple threats on our streets . . . at least yet. (2) Even though I have experienced no problems with the S15 mags, I simply could not ignore the fact that essentially nobody ever reports problems with the OEM Glock mags. That piece of mind is indispensable if your life is on the line.
As far as the video and commentator's specific points go, I have a couple of comments/observations. (1) not sure why every time you empty a mag and reload a loaded mag you manually rack the slide? The slide is open and it just takes the push of the slide stop the get new mag into battery. I suppose this just comes down to personal preference. (2) of course, I have to comment on Sig. Clearly any issues the P365 had when first released have been LONG addressed, and reliability is not in question. As far as the smaller grip goes, that is reasonably true for the P365 with 12-round mags out of the box (e.g., not with pinky extender). However, ALL P365 models now accommodate the 17-round mags that give full grip extension that is comparable to the 43X grip length with 10-round mag . . . and, of course, you get 17-rounds.

Love your channel, love your idea, but I'm very curious, what do you think of the Ruger LCP MAX? .380 12+1,,,,, smaller than the G-43x, and smaller than my wifes, and my own favorite G-26+2.........? I'm very curious to know?

    • @AnthonyBattagliaPTE
      @AnthonyBattagliaPTE  11 місяців тому

I have no personal experience with the Ruger LCP Max, BUT I will say if I have a choice between .380 and 9mm, I will use 9mm just for extra stopping power. Capacity is the same on either caliber. And as far as LCP sized guns, I think a little bit larger gun that affords a full firing grip is better for self defense - especially considering stress during critical, dynamic incidents. Those are just my thoughts / opinions though. Thanks for the comment. God bless you and yours.

PSA magazines have taken the 43x to the next level. You do not need to replace the OEM magazine release so you can still use the OEM magazines without destroying them. It takes you to 15+1. The Shield Arms magazines are definitely an upgrade that takes the 43x to the next level, but in my opinion, PSA just "one upped" them.

I agree with all your points. I am a Glock shooter, but I am on the fence of buying a Glock 43X. You push me over the fence with this video.
However, in defense of the Sig 365, if you use a magazine with extension to 12 rounds, it is as easy to handle as the Glock 43X. I have carried a Sig 365 with 12-round magazines for a very long time, and it is very usable. The only problem I have with the Sig 365 is that I cannot use certain 115 grains JHP that I like with it. Must be something strong, or it will not cycle properly.

@@petervoyt24 longer barrel makes it easier to conceal actually since it puts more weight below your belt instead of the gun being grip/top heavy from a short barrel and pushing forward. Google "keel principle" and you'll see. Longer barrel also provide longer sight radius for aiming. Longer barrel adds more weight up top for a bit better recoil softening. Longer barrel increases bullet velocity. Maybe you should become a bit more educated before making comments.

I would take a Glock 26 over my G43X any day
I seem to over grip the G43x because of the size of my hands
    regards, Pop's

I get why people want 15 rounds but it just adds more weight. The whole purpose of this gun is to be light and comfortable to carry. Just buy a g19 and it's good to go. They really not that much bigger than 43x.

Most security agencies around the world choose 9mm caliber, because is the best option.

I’m trying to decide on what to buy, between the 43x mos and 19 - I want to buy one pistol to do all but primarily be carry. The 43x with psa mags appeals, but the 19 could use oem mags. I’m a large guy and can comfortably conceal a 17 without issue so size isn’t a factor beyond comfort

They are both great guns. I think the 19 weighs about 4 ounces more loaded in comparison, but I think overall the 19 is easier to shoot, especially at distance. I personally carry both in rotation and sometimes the G26 as well. Thanks for the comment. God bless you and yours.

@@nukegalaxy6229 I looked at the 26 but the lack of light rail has removed it from consideration
