  • Hey everybody, today we are going to talk about the 3 guns you need to own now. And why do I say "now"? Look at the society around us, you know I'm not an alarmist, I'm not paranoid, I wouldn't have even considered myself a prepper up until a couple years ago, but look at what's going on. You're seeing fuel prices that are skyrocketing. If you know anything about our society and the way the world runs on petro fuel, when fuel prices go through the roof that drives everything else. Fuel prices will contribute to paralyzing us as a society. Coupled with food shortages and record inflation this inevitably leads to economic depression.
    So, when people cannot get food, water and other necessities of life it will be an unfortunate, desperate survival situation. During a survival situation you will need guns and ammo to protect yourself and those you love, to protect what you have and to possibly use to provide for yourself and your family.
    In this video are the 3 guns I have chosen for a survival situation based on their reliability, out of the box accuracy, popularity and parts availability as well as being relatively affordable.
    If you don't own these you might want to go out and get them.
    Thank you for making the choice to defend yourself and those you love. God bless you and yours!

      I always kind of think I want a shot gun but then I remember that's another cartridge to stock....I'd rather have 2-3 similar ARs in my arsenal for parts as well along with less calibers to stock pile. My opinion ARs will do just fine in 90% of situations...oh of course a sidearm 9mm but whatever that's my preference but whatever works for you best.

    Great choices honestly. A 22 is probably more versatile than a 12g in a survival situation anyway. Weight and cost of ammo is where the 22 shines.

      Weight, cost, and sheer ammount of shots per limited space to take with you 👍. For about the same weight as 15 x 00Buck and less space, I can carry 250 22lr bullets. If I'm staying home, 12g all day (plus my AR10 cause im good with 308 out to 550+yds all day). But once I need to be on the move (on foot!) My 10/22 take down is one that's comming with me for sure.

    • @hounddog4363
      @hounddog4363 Рік тому +2

      I know this is TLDR, but I can't help myself. On .22 LR for hunting/survival.
      If you're on the move and/or otherwise limited in what you can carry, that .22 can't be beat. Price and convenience too. It does start to lose it's shine if you're not limited, though. For hunting especially, there's almost always a way better tool for whatever you're doing.
      That shot placement argument just doesn't hold up in real life. Yeah, it's technically true, but it just doesn't ever work in real life. You're not going to make up for the real world shortcomings of the cartridge with your leet skills, yo!
      That thing of people saying that you could harvest a deer with a .22... yeah, of course you can kill almost anything with a 10/22. That doesn't mean you're going to be able to do it when you're stressed, hungry, and desperate when hunting pressure is high. Even if you succeed in killing the animal, the chances that you're going to be able to find it once it eventually dies from your perfectly placed shot is another big question mark.
      Real talk, that 22 is good for small game. Small mammals, rodents, and birds perched or on the ground. And probably maxing out at 100 yards with the vast majority happening inside 50 yards.

Great comment and thoughts and definitely stick to what works best for you. I know that there are guys that hunt pigs with dogs to hold them and they finish them with knives, so I'm not one to declare things impossible just because I have a hard time picturing it. Feral hogs haven't made it up to where I live yet, so I think I'm gonna start with at least a 223 when they do. Especially since my hunting partner's a dachshund.

    Three solid choices you have made. If I only had the ability to have three, they would definitely be in my sights. I trained and fought with the M4 and the M9 pistol so I do have those. I also trained with the Colt 1911 and have one of those in the night stand. I agree with the 10/22 as well. I have plain old off-the-shelf versions and I have also built a few that are worth about a grand, depending on their purpose. Since I am old and plan on fighting in place if the SHTF and world falls apart, I have also stocked up on other arms. I live quite a ways from society on 8 acres that butts up against thousands of acres of public land. My wife prefers her 38 revolver, so I have purchased a Henry 357 rifle to accompany the revolver rounds. I like the 9mm so I have also got an FX9 PCC. What I like about the pistol caliber rifles is that I can reload them with about 5 grains of powder and they shoot perfectly. Whereas, reloading my rifle rounds takes anywhere from 20 grains up to 60 grains depending on the caliber. So the PCC's get more bang for the buck if you reload. Anyway, if money is an issue, I do have a Rossi RS22 that is actually my "truck gun" and only cost me $109. It is reliable, light, and cheap enough that I don't care about it being banged around. It may not come with any accessory rails or anything, but it was so cheap, putting a rail on the bottom of the stock with some JB Weld made attachments possible.

    I definitely agree with your choices, especially in the AR! Any Glock is the way to go, mine are all .40 and 10mm! My shotgun is a Remington Tac 14 870 as a pack gun. I especially agree with you on the .22, especially with a good suppressor on it, for quietly handling tasks that louder guns can also do but draw alot of unwanted attention doing them! Good knives are a must, as well, and you might want to look into some archery gear, too! What most overlook is a way to carry the extra mags and tools necessary for surviving a fight, good load bearing equipment being very personal in nature! My slings are all dual point attachments that can be single point in seconds if necessary! My LBE is separate from my bug out bag, so I can drop the bag and still have my support gear for rifle and pistol!

      salty army, I have nothing against the 9mm but I'm not getting one when i already have 5 .40s and 10mms. I have similar choices by the types of ammo. I decided on my "go-to or work horse" rifle to be, the Diamond Back DB-15 with M-Lok and customized attachments: illuminated range scope, night vision, red dot, IR sight (night vision) , and visible laser sight (Yes, the rifle is still light weight and even laser calibrated for barrel-to-target). My choice of hand gun is a Ruger Security 9 with tactical light and laser (calibrated for barrel-to-target), and my side-kick rifle choice is a Savage Mark II with a visible laser sight; also laser calibrated for barrel-to-target.

    With a conversion bolt and mag, the AR 15 can also fire 22lr, leads to more cleaning but a viable thought for those saving size and weight.

  • @richardrobertson1331
    @richardrobertson1331 Рік тому +6

    All three are good choices. You mentioned having an extra barrel or two for the 10/22, which I consider a must. The rifling (and accuracy) permanently degrades quickly when the bore gets hot after putting 300 or 400 rounds thru it in a short amount of time. One of the extra barrels should be threaded at the muzzle so you have options of flash and sound suppression. A night scope (with the option of a night light that can be turned off with the scope still working) would be nice to have on one of your rifles, as well, so it might as well be mounted on the 10/22. The night scope would help spot a sniper with a night scope who happens to be looking at you.

      22 lr barrels will never wear out in your lifetime, i dont care how many rounds you shoot through it. Heat, speed and friction degrades barrels and 22 lr has none of those . Theres been marlin model 60s thats have been tested with 100,000 rounds with no noticeable barrel wear.

    • @richardrobertson1331
      @richardrobertson1331 Рік тому +1

      @@stevenmiller461 You are welcome to see my old 10/22 barrel anytime. I saved it. That gun is so fun to shoot (20 to 30 round magazines) and the barrel gets very hot and the "lands" of the rifling have worn smooth. You can see where they were but the bore is polished. In the military they need to change barrels frequently on machine guns for the same reason. When you go to a gun show looking for a used rifle, bring a bullet of that caliber (not an entire cartridge) with you and see if it slides easily into the muzzle past the shoulder. If so, it's referred to as being "shot out" and if you buy that gun you may find the bullet "tumbles" at 100 yards when shooting paper targets.

    I’m a long time fan of the Ruger 10/22. I own two, and I’ve never had a problem with either of them. While I’m also a fan of the AR-15, my choice is the Ruger Mini-thirty. The 7.62x.39 just has more punch. I also own a Chinese Paratrooper SKS Carbine that uses the same round . My pistol choice is the Glock 17. Bigger, longer barrel, and more accurate. Finally, if I have to choose 3, it would be my Remington 870 pump action in 20-gauge, my Ruger Mini-thirty, and my Glock 17 in 9mm Luger.

    I ended up forgoing the purchass of a dedicated .22 rifle. In its place I got a cmmg .22 conversion kit for my AR-15; so now i basically have two guns in one. I do think a 10-22 is probably more reliable than the coversion kit but i like the wieght and bulk savings i get from only having one full lenth rifle... and that theoretically frees up space for a small breaching/riot shotgun or something else to take the number three spot.

    My brother has a 1022 that he got in the 70s that he put over 750k rounds (documented) through before he brought it to me to fix. He lived in Oregon for 20 years and he never cleaned it. All the free space in the action had compacted residue in it. He did drop oil in it when it got "sticky" but it kept going. I cleaned every bit of it out and put a new recoil spring in it and it's good as new. This falls into the "don't do this at home" category, but it showed me just what it's capable of.

    An AR-15, a 10/22, and a pistol (dealers choice) are my top three. I say dealers choice on the pistol because, while I agree with the ubiquitous nature of the G19, there are other options available as well. If I could make this a top 5 list, I would add a Mossberg 500-series shotty and a precision bolt-action rifle, preferably in a caliber that you are already using (22LR, .223, or 5.56).

    hey Anthony, thank you for the informative video! I like your choices but I would have to add my own two cents, I think the shotgun will be better than the 1022 because number one the AR 15 has a 22 conversion kit that is just a bolt carrier that you can switch out and I can shoot 22 long rifle. The second reason is you can buy $150 shotgun and also a pack of those 12g caliber conversion thing which can shoot pretty much all popular handgun rounds including 9mm, 38spl, 357mag and 44mag!!
    i mean for $20 you can buy a 12 to 9mm conversion thing and it will allow you to shoot 9mm out of your shotgun ! defiently a really great survival so pretty much for a cheap $150 shotgun + 12 caliber conversion kit (~100) , you will have 5 guns in 1 lol😊

      A detachable mag, once lost, gives you a single shot that is difficult to reload, unless you have spare mags. Most people don't think to buy spares for their 22s.

    4th thing you need is body armor. no not full plates, but a concealable breathable flexible body armor. full kit will get people who have weapons trained on you. if you can have something that can hide itself and protect you then yeah thats good. even small plates in book bags can be something you need in case someone aiming at your back in a crowd doesnt get that killing shot. the coolest kit ive see was a friend who got a flexible body armor where he jury rigged a holster under the armpit. with a shirt on sure you can see it print but as soon as he put on his jacket or a loose shirt it all vanished.

    In my opinion an AK has an edge over the AR. It is far superior as a deer rifle and is plenty accurate to deal with a self defense scenario in SHTF.

      Thanks for the comment. The AK is definitely a good choice. I think the AR just got the manufacturing precedence in America because of govt. contracts etc and that's what made it more popular. So, from an accessories availability standpoint I would have to go with the AR, but the AK nonetheless is a good choice too. Stay safe. God bless you and yours.

    I'm surprised that more people don't appreciate smaller bore shotguns for many of the same reasons. A 410 or 28 gauge are incredibly versatile. The biggest drawback is that they're not in common usage. Shells are far less common these days. The versatility of shotguns for hunting and defense can hardly be overstated.

    I have a Springfield Armory M1a (civilian M14) chambered in .308. Because I have a stash of .308, I also have an FN SCAR 17 in 7.62x51. 7.62x51 will put down someone out past 800 yards. At close range, the target won't get up. I also have 5 1911s all chambered in .45 so ammo won't need to be specific to each gun. Also have a FN FNX .45 as my SHTF side arm. 15 rounds per magazine gives me a lot of firepower in the mag well. Have a HK VP9 cuz everyone has a 9mm I can hand to my spouse. Also have w shotguns, both 12 gauge, Remington 870 and VersaMax Tactical. That will handle close quarters combat just fine.
    And I have at least 10 magazines per semi auto firearm. And 40 magazines for 1911s. Very important to have enough magazines. Rule of thumb is at least 5 mags per gun.
    Yes glocks are very reliable but it's not the only reliable pistol. HK makes excellent pistols and know how to make military grade firearms. FN has been around since 1889 supplying military grade hardware around the world. They know how to make guns that will survive any military use.

It'll shoot the Ruger to shame, and so much easier to field strip. Apart in 10 seconds, with no disassembly of the stock required. It uses the 10-22 mags, or, last round hold open with the win mags. Speaking of .... I do own a 22 win mag, as well. Better survival round, but....maybe harder to find, after I shoot my 10,000 rounds.

    Thanks for the video! Here, in The People's Republic of Massachusetts, the tyrannical Attorney General has found a way to prohibit gun dealers from selling ARs/AKs and any Glock manufactured after 1998. Consequently, two of your primary three options are off the table for me. I've got the pistol and shotgun figured out (with a 10/22 a likely future acquisition), but continue to be perplexed by what to chosse for a decent semi-auto rifle option. I don't want a Mini-14/30, a PTR 32 is way too heavy (though I LOVE them!), a Tavor is pricey (but is probably a good option). I'm currently looking at a Henry Model X 357magnum lever gun and/or a Beretta CX4 Storm 9mm semi-auto rifle (both pistol caliber, but what can ya do? right?). I was going to say a good alternative for an AR15 if you are in one of the blue states that prohibits them would be a lever gun. I wonder what they think about the older style FN FAL type rifles as well (some of those are pretty tight). A .357 mag is an excellent choice because you would have versatility of firing .38sp or 38+Ps. But if you could find one in a rifle cartridge it may be a better option so you can get the longer range shots if needed (that is why .223/5.56 is so good). Even though the 30-30 has a reputation for nor shooting at longer ranges, you could still be effective 100-200yds and beyond and they are making them now to where you can put some furniture on them. For pistols, what does your state say about like a berretta 92FS or any non striker fired pistol? I guess something that is under 15rd mags which there is a plethora of mags. I would just move states HAHA

    These are definitely excellent choices. I think there's a good argument to be made for a pump 12 or 20 gauge shotgun as well. The AR-15 is the most versatile and capable tool.
    There are plenty of pistols just as reliable and accurate as a Glock 19. The biggest advantage of a Glock 9mm in a SHTF situation is how ubiquitous they are. Glocks and glock magazines are everywhere. For that reason, I wanted a pistol compatible with the Glock ecosystem, but I wanted better sights, trigger, and ergonomics. I find stock Glocks somewhat lacking in those areas. This led me to get a Shadow Systems MR920. The combat model is about $200 more than a stock G19, but it's upgraded in every way.

    I agree with all 3 of them but I would step up the Glock to the 19x. If I could only have one it would be the handgun because of the fact of concealment. And you can have it on person even hands free alot better. When It comes to hunting for food I would not waist your time hunting. Because that's all you be doing is waisting time. I hunt all my life the time energy you put into hunting any animal not worth it. You would be better of to scavenge for food. And if you come across something like a rabbit or turkey 9mm will work in a pinch

    Well, if the choice is only 3... Protect the Homestead: Beretta PX4 (reliable, high mag count, and I'm really good with it) ; 12g mosberg 500(no one walks towards the sound of it when you rack a round) ; and my AR10 in 308 (cause ammo weight doesn't matter if I'm home and you're not gonna see me when you go down).... But if I gotta be on the move. M&P Shield cause it's more portable than my full size Beretta, 10/22 takedown (I can carry ammo that will last me for weeks-months without breaking a sweat) and prob and odd choice for this... but my 22 revolver (backup hand gun, shoots same ammo as 10/22, also shoots 22 shorts/colibri/shot shells/ (extra cylinder adds magnum rounds) and the world will run out of ammo before it fails. For weight reasons though, prob smarter to carry a hatchet or one of my 10in kukri or boning knives as option 3.

      Well, I can’t afford an AR15. I had 2 Korean War vets tell me that a .22lr is just as deadly as any other round. It’s all in shot placement. The .22 is quieter, ammo is gonna be more available than any other round, and you just have to be patient when you place your shots. If you have to bug out you will be able to carry ten times more rounds than any other caliber. As far as brand goes, I have the Marlin 60 and a Winchester M77. Both are proven rifles that I have owned for years. Never any problems.
