- Part 2 of a two part video showing you some tips and tricks to installing a subwoofer amplifier in a 2015 GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado while retaining the stock OEM head unit.
This video covers the install for a non-amplified system, but the basic install will be the same on the BOSE equipped trucks as well.
Thanks for showing how to get by that junction box in the way of the firewall Grommet. No one else has gone into that detail. Your effort in showing the actual parts helped me greatly.
Thanks for the video! Saved me a ton of time chasing where to connect and run wires
Just bought my 2015 GMC Denali and am planning on adding a sub to the factory system. Great video and instructions
Best video I’ve seen on how to do this. Thanks a million.
great video! the amount of detail and the fact you even give screw/bolt sizes
Great video!!! Probably the best one I've seen for these trucks! Thanks
Thank you for the video! It also saved me a lot of time figuring out where to connect wires! A+
great video very informative and helped a lot with my install on my 2016 Silverado, thank you very much
One of the best videos I've seen on the subject both part 1 and 2 thankyou!
Very clean install. Thank you for the video.
Lovely video. Answered every question plus some.
Good video. Everything covered really good
Great video and more than helpful thinks for sharing your expertise with us.
Excellent set of videos, i just bought a 2018 Silverado and was looking into a way to beef up the audio
I had a box and amp put in on my 2015 Sierra. now I know how it was done. Its sounds great with the Bose system already in the truck!!
Used your video for information to install a large inverter. Was having trouble finding a good way through the firewall. Thanks
Nice video, quality install! I'd appreciate that you're of work. Last install I paid for, you don't even want to know.
Worked great on my 2014. Mounted the amp to the rear wall. It is a double walled, 1/2” between sheets of metal.
Scott Luker Did you just drill straight into the sheet metal. I’m worried about water getting in or rust. I have a 2013 crew cab Sierra. The back wall is pretty much the same as the 2014 models
Helped a lot! Thank you!
Awesome video. Thank you for the help.
For those wanting to know how to connect the line out converter in..
Step one- take out radio
Step two-locate the green plug behind the radio
Step 3- depending on if you have a single cab or a 4 door if you have a single cab you just need to connect the blue wire, and the wire below it ... you need to locate the blue wire and split and sauter or split and use a wire connecter, with the wire labeled “left positive” on the converter
Step 4- connect the wire below the blue one to “left negative”
Step 5- repeat those steps with the wires to the right of the blue wire and the wire below it. The top one is right positive “right next the the blue wire” and the wire below that one is right negative.
Hopefully this helped!
Great video! I will start working on my 2015 reg cab this weekend. Hopefully i make a video.
Can you just intercept your speaker wire in the rear for your line level converter. That would avoid you taking the the radio out and running a lot of RCA cable?
A nice detailed video, good Job the only thing I would change is to get the power from the battery instead of the Junction box you are adding more load to a just for factory stuff wire from the battery. Straight to the battery will give you more power to your amp under full load conditions of the factory equipment like the lights, AC, Wipers, Fans that cool your engine and your AC system.
GREAT JOB SIR AWSOME VID VERY HELPFUL WILL SAVE ME TONS OF TIME ONLY THING IS IM CONCERNED ABOUT SOLDERING
Thank you for this post. My question is about the speaker wires you showed near back wall. Were they already there from factory? Thanks.
Do you have a picture of how you mounted the amp to the back wall? I'm probably going to install my amp and subs this weekend. Thanks for the video it helped a lot. I was thinking about using the distribution block for my power wire. I only plan on running 500rms, think it will be okay?
Thanks again.
Where did you hook up your LOCs ground wire? Thank you for the videos. I've watched 20 different videos on these models. Yours is one of the best at providing important detail information.
great video. I currently have my output converter wired in behind my head unit. Where can I wire in a volume control nob into my system? Converter has a remote turn on wire but I am not using it because I have the remote turn wire going in under the dash. Any suggestions?
Great video I have a 15 silverado crew cab and want to install 2 10's and 2 rockford 500 w amps for each sub i also want a 1000 watt hi fonics for my 4 6.5's and tweeters waiting for box to get here from fox not sure if that rear wall will have the room for all 3 amps or not may just put the RF's under the seats and the hifonics on the rear deck.
When I plugged in my remote to the prong my female end was also touching the prong above it. Once I removed it and fixed it everything went back to normal. I then moved my remote cable to the 2nd fuse in the fuse box in the drivers side dash and it works just the same as the prong underneath. Great video thanks for the instructions.
glad you got it fixed!
Good to know! I'll be referencing this when I finally start my build.
I have a 2016 Silverado, i installed 2 kicker comp 10’s and a highfonics zeus 1200
Used your video, big help. Thanks a lot. I do have some type of distortion in the stock stereo speakers now that I’ve tapped into them. Any idea what this could be from???
Hey great video can you show exactly which wires get connected to the outlet converter?.. Thanks
What’s up nice video question how do you pop the race track to run the wires I’m stuck on this part
What did you tie your speaker wires in to. I have a 2016 silverado which is the exact same as this truck and had great success running my power cable just as you did.
When you tapped into the front speakers with the line converter did your chimes get amplified. I have seen a lot of posts where people are saying the seat belt, turn signal and door ajar chimes are very loud after tapping into the front speakers
Will this process work on a 2013 Silverado crew cab. Specifically the remote wiring...thank you
on the line put converter do I need to hook up the 12v dc and ground
I have the same exact truck. Could you please show me how you installed the line output converter in detail, like which wires you connect and where you grounded your amp! Thank you!
clean job man! i wish you guys were in Miami ill take u my truck
How would you wire a full system with mids and highs and sub from factory radio?
Would it be alright to cut the speaker wires running into the head unit and use a butt connector to connect the wires going to the line out converter?
Could you upload a third part where you go over the completed job along with tube settings for the sub and such?
If you use the front door speakers for signal do you hear the door chime through your sub?
What would you use in that truck as a ground if you had a 1300 W amp?
Question. Did you use an inline fuse for the amp wire coming off the battery? I didn’t see that part.
I have the same truck and I'm installing 2 Type S 10's with 1000 watt amp. What made you choose the front speakers for the low level input on the LOC? I used the rear inputs for my 2011 Chevy. Did you ever find another 12vDC switched source?
I have a full bose system 2016. Silverado z71 ltz 2500 duramax. I'm leaving factory head unit. Adding Lc6i, 1 1200w 2ch, 1 1000w 4ch and small high amp. I'm replacling all speakers. 8" 2ways in all doors, 4 new highs , 4 8" subs. Not using a harness. So questions are....
1) should i leave dash speakers alone for calls and chimes?
2) if yes. How do i power the high input?
3) do i have to tie in all 4 door speakers wires(2-,2+) to each line in. There is a left and a rt ch on Lc6i
4) how do i wire in for the Bose factory sub?there is a left and a rt or does it matter?
Thanks alot!! Also im tying in at bose amp. Appreciate your help on this 1
Clint
Im putting the audio control lc7i in my 2014 sierra w-bose and plan on running a 4ch amp and bass amp off the audio control. Where would be the best place to get signal for this set up?
If i use a lc2i, would you still recommend using remote wire from fuse box or just use the lc2i power on function?
whay do you recommend for speakers in this type of set up? Thanks in advance.
Can you show the box you have ?
I have a 2018 do you know if wiring is all the same.
I have an all terrian model, there are no wires in that connection, any thoughts on where they would be or the colors of the wires are the same but just in a different location?
Thanks
did I find it hard to fit the four wired back into the connector? I worried about the wires touching
how did you solder the connections behind the head unit, don't know why you left that part out... are there alternatives other then soldering the connection.?
2015 gmc SLT with bose system a shop tells me they can’t connect an amp to a Bose system but I see you have it. Any comments ? Thanks
I would love to see a Part 3 as well! I am buying a 2015 SLT Z71 4x4 crew with Bose today. I would love to add a bit of clean punch to the already VERY nice system. Suggestions?
Great vid. (part one as well) I liked the bloopers at the end. Shows you have a sense of humor. Thanks for the info. BTW did hooking up to the front speakers affect your phone when you connected to bluetooth. I hear that the subs can get annoying when the phone conversation comes through them.
Not really. You can always turn the sub control down if needed. Thanks!
Excellent Video I just bought a 2015 and I am starting to plan a total over haul. I have 4 6x9 speakers from another build I did and I would like to put those in the door as well as replace the dash speakers. Do you have any info on this? Will the 6x9's fit (a little modification is no problem for me). Thanks
Great video!!! I am following your steps and so far its been easier than I thought it would be. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado All-star Edition crew cab. Running the power wire was very helpful!! However my big hands made it difficult to reach..lol. im at the point of installing the amp to the back fire wall. Now I did that in my 2010 so I understand the screw size. Question is how much room do I have between the back wall and the seat for the physical size of the amp? Haven't removed the back seats yet but it looks like a tight fit back there?
Its a tight fit yes. I don't have an exact measurement, but I have installed various amps and haven't had an issue yet.
I have the female connectors that fit the Bose stock amplifiers male connectors.I can build a harness that connects to the factory low level outputs so there would be no cutting or splicing.Would this be easier than cutting and splicing, using a line out converter?
On a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 slt crew cab with Bose amplifier and speaker which wires would I use to output from aftermarket amp I would like to bypass the Bose amp and go with the lci2 loc converter I got a cheap loc right now taped to the blue and blue silver for my sub amp
I have a 2015 Silverado double cab and I'm trying to put two 12" sub with a front fire sub box were can I find that box
Have a question my friend is putting his system in the same truck and he is having a problem with the radio cut out at high volume. I installed a lc7 as the converter and it seems the output voltage is very high I had to turn it almost all the way down for it to stop happening but the sub is def not hitting as hard as it should.
im trying to find a decent single 12 box for the double cab. what one did you go with?
So I accidentally didn't tap into the lines with the line out converter and I just cut the lines from the speaker and spliced into the line out converter. Recommendations on how to fix my mistake so I actually have sound in the front and get my subs working
Were door chimes playing thru the sub a major issue in the sub due to tapping the front speakers? If so, can i quell it with the crossover or gains?
Is it ok to mount the amp to the back wall like that? I am about to do it, but I noticed it is a tight fit. Will it get enough air?
OMG! Thanks so much for this video! I do have a couple questions for you. I have a PAC SNI-15 adapter that I had in my '08 chevy but I dont recall how I had it wired behind the head unit. From what I've read else where online, the consensus seems to be if you're only running a sub, you can splice both positive and negative wires of the adapter to a single pos/neg. If so, from your video, I would spice it to one of my front speakers. Thoughts? Also, as stated above in this thread, this install will work for 2014 silverados. I'm guessing its safe to say that it should apply to my 2014 GMC, crew cab, non-bose? Thanks again, keep up the good work!
Does hooking to the front speakers not amplify the door chime??
I have a 2000 watt system in installing and would like to know where would be a place to ground it too ?
Question, had a buddy of mine do an amp and 2 10 subs, on my 2016 Silverado 1500 LT non Bose using factory deck. After install the door chimes, turn signals and idiot chimes now seem to be amplified and ear splitting. What can be done to return to a normal non ear bleeding level? Thanks in advance
Planning to install the Linkswell Tesla style display that comes with a harness that plugs into the factory connectors, can I use this same procedure to install the sub amp?
Nice videos man, where is the part three at, i have the same truck but in a Silverado lt. Theres not much on youtube i was wondering how the box came out that you made?
What line out converter are you running?
Hry what speakers did u put? cause i was only able to fit some 10in flats so its a sealed box and i wanted a ported one. .
How do you pop open the panel raceway?
does this apply to a 2016 gmc sierra 2500hd?
How much would a shop charge to do this to get signal from these wires and convert to rca and run the wires to the back?
I want to do know how to upgrade door speakers and dash speakes.
But cant find any video. Please help.
What amp and what sups did you use size+brand
anyone khow what gauge wire is used for the speaker wires, i want to use posi taps. also what are the color codes for the power and ground in the green plug?
Hey can u get the signal out of the factory amp?
I have a quick ? I'm going to install an lc7i audio control converter on my 2016 Sierra reg cab would I be able to mount it under the center console and just run wires to the radio harness instead of it being behind the radio I know my converter is quite a decent size or am I sapouse to Have it behind the stock radio?
Do you happened to have a video on the Irving part into the stock radio wires with the outline converter? By the way great videos thanks a lot helped alot
Not Irving** meant wiring.***
i want to i stall a Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack what do i need to install it i have a 2015 silverado 4 door non bose
Do u have the non nose system or bose system ? I want to do this on my 16 GMC 1500 crew cab non bose it would be the same wires correct ?
great video! Any possibility you could describe how you sodered the wires, from your video it looked like there was almost nothing to work with. did you pull back that tape? did u cut the wire? did u just cut the wire cover and soder that way? going to do this on Saturday want to be prepared! thanks boss
so i did the install this weekend, thats to your video it was a breeze. i used the same remote on for my 2015 silverado, which worked better than the fuse tap i had purchased after watching a similar video. thanks again!
great video!! i was wondering where you connected the remote wire. any help would be great. thanks!
In the first part of this video he showed an accessory +12 volt pin under the drivers side dash, when I do my install I'll be sending that to a small 12 volt relay and use that output for amp turn on remote wire.
Thank you!
dude - thank you!~
Where did you ground your amp?
Been looking for a how to on the new body style Silverado for a wile now. Just what I was looking for! Surely the 2500 install would be the same?
Yes, should be the same setup.
Did the screws go out the back of the cab
thnks it worked good
we're did you get the remote from?
Doesn't tapping into front speakers amplify door chime and turn signal too? I'm waiting to upgrade door speakers with an amp but I'm not sure what the best way to get around that.
Where did u connect yours front or rear
Where did you connect the remote wire?
i have a ? i did all the same things u did but wont turn on my truck is a 2017 crew cab lt
Thank you
