Just remember one thing: never wire speakers that utilize crossover networks in series. There is potential for degraded sound and even electrical damage. Subwoofers that do not have crossovers (some do) are fine, but not 2 way or three way speakers.
Question: In the Series demonstration, you used the Sony amp to hook up the subs to one set of terminals. Would a second set of series wired subs hooked up to the second set of terminals in the Sony Amp be seen as parallel? Thus creating a 4 ohms out put for 4 subs?
Also not related to this but does anyone know how to hook up and LC2i to a 2015 f150? Do I just grab the power from the amp and speaker wires from the door ?

As long as the subs can handle the power being output by the amp, then yes! More information is needed to check it. What are the brands and models of the amp and subs?
Hi Nathaniel, we don't carry Skar. The specs for this amp show 800 Watts x 1 Channel at 2-ohms which would be your best bet for wiring up these subs to it.
We do offer headphones and have a few videos about them here on UA-cam. Here is a link to a video we did about the 5 most comfortable models: ua-cam.com/video/KJzHtg5lfrU/v-deo.html

Is there any kind of amp that I just put the all the wires at once in one of the hole in it which would physically take care everything else....🤣😉 Just kindding,, great video...
If you wire two 4-ohm subs in parallel to a mono amp to present a 2-ohm total load, each sub will receive 300 watts RMS if the amp is rated at 600 watts RMS at 2-ohms.
I have 2 12” P3 subwoofers I recently bought a RF mono 1200watt amp R2-1200x1 How would you recommend to wire it up ? Or should I go with a different amp ? Thanks
I'm wiring 20, 4ohm svc subs to a 2ohm final impedence. Gonna try and figure out how to do this, and if I HAVE to I could buy a 1ohm rated amp if I have to wire it to 1ohm.
That won't be possible without wiring some of the subwoofers out of phase with the rest. If you can make room for 4 more subwoofers, then you can keep them all in phase and create a 1.5 ohm load for an amp.
stupid novice rookie question.. so turning 2 4 ohm subs into a 2-ohm load actually gets the most maximum power from the amplifier? how does that make sense... the lesser the ohms the better?
Amps typically output more watts when they are presented with lower ohms. Ohms is resistance. With less resistance, more work can be done (think how many more 45# plates a person could lift if gravity was reduced). For amps, their work is creating watts. But one thing to keep in mind is that you do not exceed the lowest ohm that an amp can support. We have an article on our web site that is designed more like a walkthrough to help match subs to an amp now that you have seen various ways to wire them together: www.crutchfield.com/I-rFBKc227/learn/how-to-match-subwoofers-and-amplifiers.html
Think ohms as resistance. Let’s say somebody was playing tug of war, 4 people on each side (4ohms). In this case, there is equal resistance. No one side can pull harder than the other etc. But let’s say two guys are removed from one size, well now there is less resistance for the side with 4 guys, meaning that they can now pull harder and use more power compared to the side that now only has two guys. The less guys = less resistance, which means more pulling power.
So on the parallel setup. Having 2 4ohm subs, I’ll only need an amp that puts out “1 at 2ohms” correct? Now is it the same with the RMS output? If these 2 4ohm subs are rated for 400 watt rms does my amp need to put out at least 400 watt rms or at least 800 watt rms?
If you are using a mono amp with two single 4-ohm voice coil subs wired in parallel to 2-ohms and rated up to 400 watts RMS each, a mono amp rated at 800 watts RMS x 1 at 2-ohms would be an ideal power match to maximize the performance of the subs.
In my boat, I have a JL audio M 600/1 mono class D 600 watt amp for my 2 JL audio M3 Series 10” subs. My question is am I able to add 2 more identical JL audio M3 Series 10” subs to that amp? If so, should I wire them in series or in parallel? What gauge wire should I use? Thank you Jeff
If you have dual JL Audio M3 subwoofers connected to your M600/1 amplifier you cannot add more subwoofers and achieve good wattage to each subwoofer. To add 2 more identical JL audio subwoofers, the best way is to add a second JL amplifier to drive them. The JL Audio XDM600/1 below is the perfect choice! www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc166/p_13698683/JL-Audio-XDM600-1.html
I am stoked that you enjoyed Cris's video and found it useful. Don't forget we also have our handy subwoofer wiring diagram calculator in the link below, use it whenever you need to know exactly how to wire your unique subwoofer setup. www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html
Do you notice a difference in sound quality when splitting the connections? I would assume less power means worse sound quality. Is it better to just run another wiring kit?
With most amplifiers you can use the powered subwoofer outputs and line-level preamp outputs at the same time. You'll need a second subwoofer amplifier to connect to the pre outs and drive your additional subwoofers.
So if a amp for example is 150 x1 4 ohm 300x1 2 ohm If I power two 4 ohm subs rated 300 rms 600 peak parallel then it makes it a two ohm Will I be then over powering my amp 600x1 2 ohm? Sorry if this doesn’t make any sense
Carefully considering your subwoofer impedance and wattage configuration is crucial to selecting the right amp. Connecting two 4-ohm subs capable of handling 300-watts RMS each would show a 2-ohm load to your amp, with a maximum wattage of 600-watts of potential power the subwoofers can handle. With your amp you would be delivering 150-watts per subwoofer and should sound great with most subwoofers without the possibility of overpowering.
@@crutchfield what if I did this with a under powered sub lik a 300 RMS sub with a 200 watt sub still being able to ofc obtain the 2 ohm if there capable of handling it I’d be guessing with the difference in power it would sound unbalanced?
So on my t15s I matched my positive from both speakers and negatives from both speakers and put a clamp with a loop on the end and hooked it to my terminal cup. Is that ok to do?
The best option will depend on the specs on the subs and the amp you have. Just so you wire them for a good impedance and power match for your amp, you're set.
Now why would you wire in parallel, I have 2 subs at 500 rms each and a 1500 watts sundown sae V3 amplifier. What would be the best way to wire subs? They are 4 ohms
I have seen this videos and it has been very helpful. Thank you for time and patience for making this for silly people like us out here. But, I have not come across the answer to one of my questions Im looking for. I have 2 Alpine W12S4 attached with Power acoustic RE4-2000D. Sound is very decent. The answer I am looking for is. The powers of all the components are within range of each-other, so, can I be able to attach both subs in series and bridge them to one channel? Currently, I am running them on separate channels. 1(bridge) x2(sub in series) is it possible? on the other 2 channels I have a pair of Jbl gx9638 attached. this setup sounds very nice. for the head unit I have sony dsx-a415bt.
Hi Tony, sounds like you've got some great components. Looks like the amp is rated at 250 RMS at 2-ohms per channel. Since your Alpine subs are rated to 250 watts RMS each, sticking with two of your amp channels to power two of them will work best.
I currently have a 12' 10000w sub in my car, am i able to simply add another 12' 4000w sub to the same amp? Also will the 4000w 12' make a noticble difference if i can add it.
We will be happy and have a few questions to get started. Which brand/model sub and amp do you have installed now? Which brand/model subwoofer are you inquiring about adding to them?
Hey can I connect the two 4ohm subwoofer in parallel to a 4 ohm on amp ? And the subwoofer is of 1500watt and another one is 140watt and the amp is 500 watt
Based on your question, it may not be possible to connect that gear together. It is not possible to wire two 4 ohm loads (4ohm subs) and get a 4 ohm load for an amp. But it could be worth a double check of the gear. Which brand and model subs are you trying to connect together? What is the brand and model of the amp?
@@crutchfield it's okay no problem..but I have another question I have a toyota etios (2013 ) and it has a stock stereo which is having only two speakers configuration but I want to upgrade it to 4 speakers system but the thing is that it doesn't have 2 more speaker output and the output which is given to those two speakers I have connected Two wires and taken as an high level input for the amp to use a subwoofer
When adding two more speakers, you will need to get that same high level signal to a speaker amp so you have a way to power another set of speakers. Sometimes you can join two wires to one tap. If that is not possible here, then we recommend tapping into the stock wire again for the new speaker amp

Thank you so much for the video. Using the parallel technic, can I do the same with my wireless subwoofer (from soundbar)? My sub driver that came along with the soundbar( samsung q950a) is only 8 inch 4omhs. The wireless sub has no output and neither samsung sells same model subwoofer. All I wanna do is hook up wire directly from the sub driver using your parallel technics and then sends the audio signal to a small sub amplifier that can handle my new polk subwoofer 12 inch 200 watt. Will this change the overall impedance or impact inadvertently in the process? My intended simple steps below: 1. Hook up wire from wireless subdriver inside the sub cabinet(parallel) 2. send the audio connection (wire) to a sub amp. 3. then send the connection to new subwoofer. Eternally grateful if you reply.
Speaker level inputs on devices have such a high ohm rating that they, for all practical purposes, they do not change the ohms that the source amp sees. The process you described can work as long as we know the other gear works. You mentioned the wireless subwoofer does not play. If it was the amp in the wireless subwoofer does not work, then the newly added amp/sub gear to not produce any audio. And that is on top of the fact that once you open that cabinet of a wireless subwoofer, most manufacturer warranties are voided. It is best to use parallel wiring on devices meant to connect gear that could be wired in parallel (i.e. some power amps, etc..).
When matching subs to an amp, it's best to always go by the true continuous RMS power ratings and not peak/max ratings. We typically suggest powering subs with 70-100% of their RMS rating for best performance. Here's a great article on our site to check out regarding matching subs and amps: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc928/S-Zsbb8hUrUUH/learn/how-to-match-subwoofers-and-amplifiers.html

I have 2 1000 wat subs and a 3000 watt d type mono block i've done the wiring in parallel but the subs have a real bad vibration when you turn the volume up should i wire in in series or should i use say a 600 watt amp?
Hi Jacob, the best wiring option will depend on your exact sub and amp specs. What brand and model is your amp? Is each sub rated for 1000 RMS? How many voice coils does each sub have? What is the impedance per coil?
I have to install 12 round ceiling speakers in a salon this weekend! Please tell me which spec amp to buy and which spec speakers also to get the best sound? And do i wire series or parallel?? Would really appreciate your expertise on this?

@@crutchfield thank you for your response. I have 2 600 RMS subs and one 1200 Watts RMS mono amp. Will the amp provide 600 Watts RMS to each sub or 1200 when wired in parallel?
This depends on the impedance of your subwoofers and the power output specifications on your exact amplifier. If you are using 4-ohm subwoofers that can handle 600-watts each, wiring in parallel will give you 2-ohms total impedance and 1200-watts RMS power handling for the pair. If your amplifier delivers 1200-watts into a 2-ohm load, each subwoofer will receive 600-watts RMS. I hope this helps to clarify!
That's because it is not possible to wire two 4 ohm subs (or speakers) together and get a 4 ohm load for an amp. Different subwoofers would be needed so they can be joined together to a 4 ohm load. Two 2 ohm subwoofers can be joined together to create a 4 ohm load using the same method shown when creating 8 ohms from two 4 ohms.
So if I bought a monoamp for a sub or two, would I need to get another amp for the other speakers such as my dash and coaxes? Or should I get one big 8-phase amp so I can connect the three dash speakers, four coaxes, and single woofer to the same amp? I’m new to this, lmao
The need for an amp on the speakers depends on your goals and partly on the speakers that will be used in the system. There are times when the only external amp installed is one to power subwoofers. In times like this, the radio powers the speakers with its built-in amp. But then there are times when external amps are used to power all the speakers. We can tell you that installing an external amp to power the speakers should make them play better than using a radio's built-in amp to power them. Just don't exceed the speakers RMS watts with the amp. We wouldn't want to get so much power that the sound is still bad because of it. What speakers are you installing? What vehicle is this in? What speakers are installed now? What changes are you hoping to make to the sound you get with those speakers?
One criteria for this to work right is that both subwoofers be able to handle the same watts RMS. As long as they do, then you can connect them together (wire the DVC 2 ohm sub's voice coils in series)
It is not necessary to use the RCA outputs, the pass through ports, when connecting multiple subs to an amp. Those outputs would only be used when installing another amp.
As long as the wire lengths are short, 12 gauge wire will work to connect the subwoofers to the box terminal as well as connect the box terminal to the amp: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/g_50600/Car-Speaker-Wire.html?fa=1#&nvpair=FFGauge|12-gauge
Can I do series wiring on a home theater powered sub? They are 2 different speakers. I did it and it worked but idk so I unhooked until I find out if it's safe I dont want a fire!
So dual two ohm subs together would be one ohm? I have 2 halo alpine ten subs I noticed when I took one apart that they have 4 connectors and two of the are jumped i think but anyways on the outside terminals on the box it says 2oms. I would just plug the positive and negative of both boxes to the amp and I should be at one ohm? Srry I’m a noob and just want to be completely sure.
Each subwoofer is internally wired to present a 2 ohm load at the box terminal. Wiring two of the boxes together in parallel like you described will present a 1 ohm load to the amp. You nailed it!!!
@crutchfield im in a wrangler soft top, i jus wanna hear a little bump lol i have a 8k taramp, 7 - 12" prv & 3 - 10" prv subs (all svc). But i believe subs are all 8ohm loads. The Taramp is a 1ohm load
It is only possible to wire together eight 8 ohm drivers together and get a 1 ohm load. If you tried to wire in the other two, you will end up with something less than 1 ohm but your amp is not rated for anything less than 1 ohm. Another issue you will face is that eight of the subwoofers are not able to handle the power output from the amp. Ideally, you will find an amp that output 6000 watts RMS at 1 ohm when trying to run 8 of the subs on one amp. The other option would be to try to find an amp that is 0.5 ohm stable and outputs around 7500 watts RMS at 0.5 ohms.
So if I have 4 4ohm subwoofers and wire 2 of them to 1 ohm and connect to one channel on the mono and the other 2 to 1ohm would they play at 1 ohm or will it go play below 1 ohm?
Are you hoping to power them with a specific amp? Your best bet will be to wire them for a 2-ohm load. images.crutchfieldonline.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/4DVC_4-ohm_mono.jpg
I have one pair of 6-ohm speakers and one pair of 8 ohm speakers and i want to play them at same time. will it be safe if i connect them to my aiwa deck in parallel at same time. Means one pair in one port and other in other port in series or parallel and also tell me which will be best parallel or series.
I would not recommend using two different impedance speakers wired in parallel to the same amplifier channel. If you choose to, you will need to make sure that your Aiwa's amplifier is capable to drive the load, roughly 3.4-ohms. It's unlikely, as most car stereos are capable of driving loads of 4-ohms or higher, so sticking to one 4-ohm speaker on each channel is a good idea. I hope this helps!

So you don't hook the subs to each other you just connect them at the amp? I have 2 8ohm jl audio and hooked them to each other then ran them to the amp is the wrong?
Its safer on the first subwoofer's connections if the second subwoofer is wired to the amp instead of the first subwoofer. But as long as you have not had any issues so far, your wiring method should be ok.
Wiring two subwoofers in parallel by joining all the negative connections together to the negative on the amp and doing the same for the positive connections will make an amp see a 4 ohm load. As for the watts, they will be split evenly through both subwoofers. However, wiring the subwoofers together at the terminals of one of the subs, that will make this set of terminals get all the watts of the amp. Then half will leave using the wire that runs to the 2nd subwoofer. That's what we were referring to when we mentioned the first subwoofers connections and that it would be safer on them if each subwoofer had wires running from it to the amp.

I ask this because i have a single 12" Competition Kicker sub that can handle 400RMS. My mono block at 4 ohms only outputs 200RMS, but at 2 ohms it delivers between 400RMS to 500RMS depending on the voltage from the battery. I would like to get that 2 ohm power from the amp to my single 12" Kicker as at 4ohms it really isnt outputting much power to keep up with the rest of the system. Is there anyway to trick the amp into outputting 2ohms or is my only option to buy another Sub and wire it as shown in this video so i get 2 ohms from the amp. BTW my amp is capable of running at 2ohms.
We do not have devices that can be wired with a subwoofer to change the ohms the amp will see. You mentioned having a Kicker Competition subwoofer that can handle 400 watts RMS. That sounds like their CompR models which are typically a dual voice coil subwoofer. What is the Kicker model number of your 12" Competition subwoofer?

Is it safe to have a 1200 watt amp for a pair of 4 ohm subwoofers?
As long as the subs can handle the power being output by the amp, then yes! More information is needed to check it. What are the brands and models of the amp and subs?

How many watts does each 4 ohm subwoofer receive from the amplifier if it is rated at 600w @2 ohms??
If you wire two 4-ohm subs in parallel to a mono amp to present a 2-ohm total load, each sub will receive 300 watts RMS if the amp is rated at 600 watts RMS at 2-ohms.
I have 2 12” P3 subwoofers I recently bought a
RF mono 1200watt amp R2-1200x1
How would you recommend to wire it up ? Or should I go with a different amp ? Thanks
It’s definitely not happy about running a 2 ohm load hot hot hot bang
We have an article on our web site that is designed more like a walkthrough to help match subs to an amp now that you have seen various ways to wire them together:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rFBKc227/learn/how-to-match-subwoofers-and-amplifiers.html
GREAT TEACHING !! I LIKE HOW U EXPLAIN EVERYTHING 🙂
Thank you, Serey! 🙂

Jeff
If you have dual JL Audio M3 subwoofers connected to your M600/1 amplifier you cannot add more subwoofers and achieve good wattage to each subwoofer. To add 2 more identical JL audio subwoofers, the best way is to add a second JL amplifier to drive them. The JL Audio XDM600/1 below is the perfect choice!

With most amplifiers you can use the powered subwoofer outputs and line-level preamp outputs at the same time. You'll need a second subwoofer amplifier to connect to the pre outs and drive your additional subwoofers.

💙you're welcome! What did you install?
So if a amp for example is
150 x1 4 ohm
300x1 2 ohm
If I power two 4 ohm subs rated 300 rms 600 peak parallel then it makes it a two ohm
Will I be then over powering my amp 600x1 2 ohm? Sorry if this doesn’t make any sense
Carefully considering your subwoofer impedance and wattage configuration is crucial to selecting the right amp. Connecting two 4-ohm subs capable of handling 300-watts RMS each would show a 2-ohm load to your amp, with a maximum wattage of 600-watts of potential power the subwoofers can handle. With your amp you would be delivering 150-watts per subwoofer and should sound great with most subwoofers without the possibility of overpowering.
@@crutchfield so that’s a yes HAHAHAHAH THANKS GUYS THES BEST OUT
Thank you!~ We are happy to help anytime.😎
@@crutchfield what if I did this with a under powered sub lik a 300 RMS sub with a 200 watt sub still being able to ofc obtain the 2 ohm if there capable of handling it I’d be guessing with the difference in power it would sound unbalanced?
It would work; but matching the subs does tend to sound best. Do you already have the subs you plan to use?
So on my t15s I matched my positive from both speakers and negatives from both speakers and put a clamp with a loop on the end and hooked it to my terminal cup. Is that ok to do?
The best option will depend on the specs on the subs and the amp you have. Just so you wire them for a good impedance and power match for your amp, you're set.

Hi Tony, sounds like you've got some great components. Looks like the amp is rated at 250 RMS at 2-ohms per channel. Since your Alpine subs are rated to 250 watts RMS each, sticking with two of your amp channels to power two of them will work best.

My intended simple steps below:
1. Hook up wire from wireless subdriver inside the sub cabinet(parallel)
2. send the audio connection (wire) to a sub amp.
3. then send the connection to new subwoofer.

The need to bridge and the power output will depend on your exact amp and speaker setup. Do you have specific models in mind?
Please Bear with me and my question but let’s say for example I got 2 subs at 1k max watt each would I need a 2k amp or a 1k amp ?
When matching subs to an amp, it's best to always go by the true continuous RMS power ratings and not peak/max ratings. We typically suggest powering subs with 70-100% of their RMS rating for best performance. So if I run 2 600 Watts Subs parallel, does it mean I get 1200 Watts?
Your exact sub and amp specs determine how much power you'll get. Do you have 2 600 RMS subs you need help choosing an amp for?
If I have two 4 ohm subs @150W RMS in parallel, is this a perfect match for a 2 ohm 300w RMS amp?
Yes, that is ideal. Would you like help choosing?
i am trying to hook up 2 4ohm DVC subs in parralel with a final impedance of 2 ohms. is this possible considering they are DVCs?
When you wire 2 4-ohm DVC subs in parallel/parallel it will present a 1-ohm load to the amp. No way to get a 2-ohm impedance with your subs.
So wiring in Parrallel, you can get 250 rms from one sub and add 250 rms from the other and get a total of 500 rms @2ohm?
Which specific amp do you have in mind?
You showed how to make two 4 ohm speakers into 2 ohms. And two 4 ohm speakers into 8 ohms. I didn't see an explanation for 4 ohm installation
Very helpful video! Thanks
You're welcome! Are you putting together a new subwoofer system?
Can I connect a dual 2 ohm 8 inch subwoofer with a 12 inch 4 ohm svc together?
One criteria for this to work right is that both subwoofers be able to handle the same watts RMS. As long as they do, then you can connect them together (wire the DVC 2 ohm sub's voice coils in series)
So when I do wire 2 subs to the amp do I thin still use the 2 rca input or do I use the pass through port and use 4 inputs?
It is not necessary to use the RCA outputs, the pass through ports, when connecting multiple subs to an amp. Those outputs would only be used when installing another amp.
I have to JL audio 8W7a E3 subs what’s the best thickness wire to go parallel with them ?

I would just plug the positive and negative of both boxes to the amp and I should be at one ohm? Srry I’m a noob and just want to be completely sure.
Each subwoofer is internally wired to present a 2 ohm load at the box terminal. Wiring two of the boxes together in parallel like you described will present a 1 ohm load to the amp. You nailed it!!!

We don't carry that amp or brand; but it looks like Skar includes wiring diagrams here: manuals.plus/skar/skar-audio-rp-1200-1d-monoblock-class-d-mosfet-amplifier-complete-features-owner-guide#axzz83D95imxa

What gauge wire do you use for the subwoofer to amplifier?
12 or even 10-gauge wire tend to work best for subs. Are you planning to use a specific amp/sub? Their specs should specify what will fit.
@@crutchfield A very old Kenwood 12" w112s hopefully dual in the future. Connected to a Kenwood x501-1.
I've bought a 4 gauge wiring kit but wanted to be sure.
8-gauge power and ground leads are recommended for your amp. 12-gauge speaker wire will match it well.

Hi, I like how informative your video is but i have a question in regards to ohms. Is there a way to wire a single sub woofer to a mono block and force it into outputting 2 ohms??
@@crutchfield Hi, Thanks for your reply. I am not sure of the model number as it was boxed since i purchased it. Its a Kicker enclosure and from memory (i dont remember what i did a day ago these days) i am pretty sure it says CompR (or something along those lines) on the Sub or enclosure. It is not a current model. I purchased it over 10 years ago. When i get some spare time, i'll have to take the sub out of the enclosure to see if it actually is a competition sub with Dual voice coil and to see the model number as i have been curious about it ever since i bought it.
Thanks! Please reach out once you have the exact specs so we can help you match up the best amp.
Hi i have a jbl gto 75.2 amp and two jbl gt4 12inch subs how would you recommend wiring them up to get the best out of them as your video has just blew my mind good video though thank you .
The only way this can work is with one sub wired to each amp channel. That will give them less power than we recommended, but will at least work. If you want to get the bass that the subs were built to produce, we recommend getting an amp like this MTX to power your two subs:

@crutchfield right ok. thank you for your reply I will get another amp

Hey mate 😎
Hi Arun, how can we help?
Where can I get the wires for my subs?
If you mean speaker wire, we have you covered. The Crutchfield 12-gauge speaker wire by-the-foot in the link below is a solid call. Choose how much length you need for your specific install!

which is the best connection for a double coil subwoofer? is it in parallel or series?
That really depends on the specific sub and amp being used. What type of sub and amplifier do you have?
can you do a dual voice coil dub wiring video
You would actually wire the dual voice coils in parallel and series the same way to match your amp. Do you have a specific amp and sub in mind?
If u have 2 4ohm dual subs, can u wire each sub as series which make ea sub 8ohm then parallel both at the end to drop them back into 4ohm instead of keep doing them in series to be at 16ohm load?
Yes! The wiring can be done as you are hoping and it will present a 4 ohm load to an amp
What about wiring a 2ohmDVC and 4ohmDVC together on one amp? If I wire the 4ohm in parallel for a 2 ohm load, and the 2ohm in parallel for a 1 ohm load then wire both in series at the amp, will that present a 3ohm load? I know it's not recommended but I'm curious.
Hey i have a jbl gto 6000, and a pair of climax danger 500's. But i cant figure out how to wire them. The subs and amp are rated at 4 Ohms. When i wire the 2 subs to eachother they are fine and read 4 ohms but when i hook up the amp they read a 0.1. What did i do wrong?
I could not find the specifications for that gear online, but we do have a tool that can help with finding the best way to wire subwoofers to amps:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html
@@crutchfield ahh ok, its a 6 channel amp so it isn't listed on your website. Im just going to save my self some time and buy a new amp💯💯
That may be the best idea. 6 channel amps do not usually work well with subwoofers.
@@crutchfield got any suggestions? I have 2 climax danger 500 subs thet are DVC 500wRMS rated. Whats a good option i can get?
I believe earlier you said each voice coil was 4 ohms. There is a Rockford Fosgate amp that would give each sub the 500 watts RMS they can handle:

How do you wire this to the terminal cup? This part confuses me I wish they showed this on videos.
Do you have 2 separate enclosure, or is it a double?
@@alvin59accent one enclosure. 2 separate cups
I have 700 watt rms amp… what dual coil subwoofer power rating will I need in a 4ohm to get 2ohm paralleling w dual coil to take full advantage of the 700 watt RMS amp?
👍👀👍
Maybe you guys can help me understand speakers with what I have. I have a leftover mono class D amp 1 channel 1 set of + and - terminals. It has RMS 1x180watts at 4ohms and 1x300watts at 2ohms. Do you guys carry a full set of components speakers (front 6x9 with tweeters and rear 6.5) that would allow me to use this amp instead of a 4channel amp? How would I even wire it? Use to use this amp directly to power 1 sub and just wondering if I can power a factory 6 total speaker upgrade now by chance with it. Thanks!
Mono amps are not designed to power the speakers in a vehicle. A 4 channel amp is needed to power 4 speakers. If you don't care about being able to fade the sound, it may be possible to use a 2 channel amp (two speakers connected to each channel) to power all 4 speakers. Have you chosen the speakers you are going to install?
@@crutchfield no, but if that's the case and I can't use this amp anyway, I might just replace the door speakers and install a powered sub...so I wouldn't be amplifying the door speakers. For whatever reason, there doesn't see to be ANYWHERE online that shows you how to wire a factory radio with a harness adapter into a LOC and then into a powered sub/amp or into an amp and then a sub.
We typically do not have harnesses for that unless they are made to plug into specific model and use a molex plug to connect to it. We can check your vehicle for this type of part. What is the year, make, and model of it?
@@crutchfield I have a company that makes a harness for it. It's a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox RS non-Bose. The one you sell tends to have concerns. The one I have plugs in and has speaker wires coming out to go into LOC and convert to RCAs. Any suggestions?
Since this will just be used for a subwoofer, the AudioControl LC2i works great for this task. Here it is:

Yes, you can wire the two MTX TN10-04 for a 2-ohm load. 300 watts is a perfect power match for the two.

What's the best way to wire 2 dual coil 4ohm subs into a mono amp with 4 terminals if I'm trying to convert those 4 ohms into a 2 ohms load? Parallel or bridging?
It is not possible to wire two DVC 4 ohm subwoofers together for a final of a 2 ohm load for the amp. The options are 1 ohm and 4 ohms. We have a guide that can help show the wiring layout:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html
@@crutchfield thank you. 1 ohm it is!
@@crutchfield trying to wire mine in a middle vented enclosure is confusing me. Looks like at least one speaker wire will have to run past the vent to the other sub.
We recommend keeping the speaker wire away from the port opening in the box while running the wire inside the box. We don't want the air that moves in/out of the box through the port to be impacted by the wire. It may also help to secure the wire to the interior sub box walls.
@@crutchfield thank you. So there is no good way to wire 2 dvc 4 ohms P3's for a P1000.bd amp?

What would be best for 2 8" 200 watt subs and a 500 watt 2 channel amp
Hi Brian, how many voice coils does each sub have? What is the impedance per voice coil? What is the brand and model of your amp?
@@crutchfield I have 2 8" jbl 810 one coil, I think they are 200 watt 4 ohm speakers and I have a 500 watt legacy la-500 2 channel amp the amp is older but I was hoping it would work for what I have
With two 4-ohm single voice coil subs and a 2-channel amp, you would typically just wire each sub directly to one of the amp channels. Do you know the true continuous RMS power rating of your older amp per channel?
I'm not sure how would you know
What model is the amp?
