Was happy when I saw the leak for this on reddit. I've been using a leather briefcase for the last few years going into the office, was wanting to switch to something canvas like a NutSac bag. This is exactly what I have been looking for.

Nice job, as usual, on the video. Something I would have liked to see, that you sort of alluded to when you compared the GR1 side by side with the shoulder bag, is a direct comparison of what will fit in the shoulder bag vs the GR1. Side by side, it looked like they might be close, but how does the actual capacity compare? For travel through airports and the like, I'm not thrilled with the 2 outside pockets without zippers to prevent someone from just grabbing stuff. And the reality is that some people may want to use one of these in combination with a rolling overhead bin size bag, so a handle pass through would have been nice to see (though it would be pretty easy to attach something to the Molle on the sides).
Agree with your points on the design. As for capacity, while the outside dimensions are the same as the GR1 the internal division is not the same so the main capacity of the Shoulder Bag is a little less.
Thanks for the review. Do you by chance own a mystery ranch 3 way brief? If so, which do you prefer? Obviously, the MR can be used three ways, but I’m just asking in brief mode.
I don’t currently have the MR but that would be a good comparison

Were you able to properly extend the shoulder strap to the correct length for you? Mine came last night and the shoulder pad makes it impossible to extend the strap long enough to actually use it. Not sure if I have a bad one of that’s common?
Yeah, that’s a tricky one. I have mine extended as much as the pad would allow. It works for me at that length but might not for others. I didn’t try to go beyond

The goruck one having a zipper in the laptop compartment is fine for my work xps but not my mbp.
But the portobello has the laptop inside the main compartment.
Given that I'm in Europe, the goruck one is only an option next time I'm over in the US. That import fee is not worth it.
Difficult decision though. Overall I think I like the goruck one more.
But I have a nice timbuk2 commander that's no longer made so maybe just the trakke bairn only as addition xd

I always love the idea of a shoulder bag, but in reality I always end up hating carrying one, as I find it just hurts my shoulder and I revert back to a backpack 😂
I do love the look of this though, but feel it’s missing a luggage pass through, as well as the leather bottom you mentioned.
I think I will probably might wait to see what they do for the next iteration, but it is very tempting!
I wouldn’t expect much to change. The molle can be used to fashion a luggage strap
Looks awkward to reach into the main compartment for access to the internal pockets. My 2 cents would be to re-design with clamshell zippers for a suitcase style opening

No real flap for files is a disappointment. This could be a good teacher bag, but I would need both a laptop and separator spot in the main compartment to really make sense.

molle on this bag looks ugly AF. I'll just keep my filson 24 hr briefcase
