Pool guy here. You are doing everything perfectly to get clear water. When we refilled our big municipal pool, it looked like a swamp for the first day. But over 3 days we got it looking crystal clear. UV is helpful for killing organic matter that is too small to see, which keeps your pool water looking clean. Also shower before entering your pool. Sweat and sun tan lotion etc can make the pool water cloudy over time. Also skin oils and sweat etc will leave a scum line around the pool that will need to be scrubbed by hand with a plastic scrubbing pad and baking soda powder.

It is so refreshing to see a responsible dog owner role modelling training that has your dogs looking to you as leader of the pack. To be able to walk at heel, see a threat and look to the owner for the lead in how to react makes your dogs very safe. Finn thank you so much for this, enjoy your pool!

Reminded me of the Nile River when its waters turned to blood. Admiring you and Sherlyn's persevering spirit... vacuuming and filtering for 2 days, not hearing any word of complaints with the work it entails. Ah well-trained Thor and Jake! Just using your normal voice talking to them, Finn, am truly amazed. You did a great job, guys, with the pool. Thanks for the good vibes/attitude even when something unforseen happen. As always, keep safe.

Good job! I suggest to extend the outer pipe drainage away from your house foundation to avoid corrosion or destroying your property.

True ... extending your outer pipe drainage farther away from your house prevents soil erosion. Then, you might wanna put pebbles on the entrance way so that it wouldn't be muddy.

Good job guys! Welcome to the joy (and pains) of pool ownership! Watching from northern California where I got delegated to be the pool boy to our home pool (had to learn pool maintenance through a lot of trial and error). One thing I would recommend when backwashing is to divert the runoff further away from the house. Love the view - Cheers!

But thought..nah, you know what you,'re doing. I know, you two, know what youre doing hehe I used to live in Negros Occidental, in Silay City. Our water is like that too. It was a nightmare filtering the water. It made our white clothes, bathroom tiles and pails yellowish. We harvest rain water and used it to wash our clothes. Love your place, Finn and Sherlyn

OMG what you were doing brought back memories when I was living in the Philippines. My siblings and I grew up with a pool at our house in bf homes Paranaque. And that is what we do on weekends. My brothers will vacuum and treat the pool while my sister and I will be scrub the pool of algae and stains. That is why now as adults we don’t want a house with a pool on it. Having a pool you have to put so much work and too expensive into maintaining it.Although it really brought so much beautiful and happy memories growing up in the Philippines. Even my friends from elementary, Highschool and college every time we reminisce they remember our house with a pool in bf and the pool parties we have always come up as happy memories for them as well.😊

Finn, here in Florida, we have the same problem with iron in the water, and it looks like you used the flocculant method to form clumps to be removed. Do a pool water test often and keep the iron 0.2 ppm and make sure the ph is balanced to 7. Iron signs are white particles in the water before it happens. Another method is dilusion to bring the iron in water down for that you drain some of the water until you reduced the iron and then add fresh water. To avoid stains, use chelating or sequestering agents. Ultimately, you need to go for water filtration. Other methods maintain proper water chemistry. Use water softteners. Keep the pool water clean. Control de source of iron. Maintain your pool equipment. Test the pool water. If possible, seek another water source for the pool, and test the water as you look for sources.
    Hope this will help.

It's better to save the rain water. Filter it and use for consumption in the house. Rain water is being used in some islands in Greece where the islands are surrounded by the ocean. Living with nature has a positive and negative sides to encounter. That's only the beginning. You will get used to it as the days go by. Take your time. Enjoy the changes slowly. Beautiful things are coming to you and Sherlyn. Take care and God bless.❤❤❤

I used to own a pool service. The pool at my house is 23 feet by 43 feet and 10 feet deep. When your pool is green it is not the iron, it is out of chlorine and starting to form algae! Get some shock (highly concentrated chlorine) and the green will go away in an hour or so once you dump it in there, make sure to walk around and spread it out when you add it. You keep finding it out of chlorine so you are not adding enough! When it is summer here I just use shock, and in the winter I use 3" tablets in 3 floaters. They take about 5 x 3" tablets each floater and they last about a week to two weeks in the winter. Summer is about 5-7 days. I just dump shock in it once a week in the hot season. There, it is always the hot season. So just get some shock and use it instead of chlorine. It will be much easier! You should rarely need to add acid after the initial check it is usually very stable. When you add shock I would do it at night and not go in until the next day it is very strong chlorine and could burn your eyes a little etc.! The sun burns up your chlorine so adding it at night gives it all night to work before the sun starts to burn it up. Also if someone pees in your pool that will burn up the chlorine real quick. Oils from lotions etc will float on the top and attach to the tile at the water line, so from time to time use a mild scotch brite pad and some tile cleaners, don't use any soaps unless you want a bubble bath. lol Good luck hope you enjoy your new pool. I have had this house for over 50 years so the excitement about a pool in my backyard wore off years ago now it is just another liability to maintain the house. We really enjoyed it the first few years though. So have a lot of fun there! You are doing good! Great teamwork work both of you!

When your pool is stable, you can invest in a pool robot cleaner. Just run it 24 hrs. A day. It will save you time and effort. You can have your pool in a temperature that suits your body. You will enjoy your pool everyday. One thing I experienced in my pool before. When the rainwater starts to accumulate, the Algae in the pool starts to make the water green. Just add Chlorine and run the filter 24 hours a day. Then, you will have clear water. Clean the filter everyday. The dirt accumulates faster especially if you have leaves from the nearby trees. Enjoy.❤❤❤

Fin I know you ain’t got enough water in the skimmer vacuum but when you can do that, you got the drain on you can take your brush and brush the dirt towards the bottom of the pool. You don’t have to wait for the skimmer to fill up water just use your brush and brush towards the bottom of the drain and that’ll be clean a lot faster.

Hello Finn I had a problem with ferrous iron with my water once the water is exposed to air it makes the mud that would settle at the bottom I installed an ozone filter to remove all the iron it's simular to a water softener but does not use salt. The filter creates its own ozone and as the water passes through the ozone it solidifies anything in the water and gets caught in the media filter it also counts how much water is used and will do a regen on its own back flushes the filter with 40 gallons of water then creates the ozone again and is reset. The only maintenance is to clean out the small tube that creates the ozone with canned air duster and replace two small check valves once a year. Maybe check into an ozone filter.

If u want to know what is just ask because different chemicals for iron will be useless after you adjust your chlorine.

If they are legal in your area, a whole house sodium exchange water softener with a manganese oxide type resin such as the Filox brand made by the Watts company should eliminate the majority of iron in your water supply to the pool.

There is also no drainage system along the pool perimeter that will take good care of the overflow. There seems to be one but it is so thin and narrow.

you should have filterations from water source going out to your pool. it will lessen because from the source itself it can already filter properly. you just need to spend filter always specially if u going to replace water from the pool.

The pool cleaners that climb the wall are awesome, I have one, but that was to much for it. Now that you got it handled, get the good pool cleaner. turn it on, get some lunch, trained the dogs, and its done for you

Do not refill with deepwell water coz you will have the same problem again. It will turn green from blue. Its also not advisable to use sand filter coz you lose a lot of water from backwashing, better use DE filter.

Its a simple fix under 100k for all the high volume heavy metals filter systems. I drilled a well and waters same. It hits oxygen and rusts after a few days

@FinnSnowVlogs Thats best for sure but you still have the issue if ever to use the well in low rain season. It clears up very nice. I also went the extra mile to install rain water catchment system to be used on our place. I collect 2000 sq mtrs from the roof i intend it for the pool to. Im in Albay and it rains a lot so over filling tefreshing is never a problem either.
      Ur place looking enjoyable

I agree you should move the discharge pipe away from the house, you don't want moisture getting under the house slab and cracking it.
