Got this bag last week to replace a leather bag I got for work a few years back that I didn't like the style of. I really like it so far, plenty of room for everything I could possibly need to take to the office. Excited to see how it feels and looks after it has had some time to break in.
The Heritage packs develop an amazing patina over time. I too cannot wait to see how the shoulder bags break in. I have one of the old 20L cordura shoulder bags as well, and while it has been tuff as nails, is almost too boring.
@joegonzales9053 Yeah, I'm glad these came out. I have looked at the NutSac laptop bags every now and then and was really looking to get a waxed canvas bag to replace the cheap leather Kenneth Cole bag I bought as Staples when I first got my job a few years back. NutSacs aren't cheap though and I wouldn't want to have to tell people it's a NutSac if they asked about it
Is the 26L GR1 too big for everyday carry? Always looking for that sweet spot perfect size. I don’t have to carry anything too bulky or cumbersome - pretty much a typical workday or light weekend loadout with tablet or laptop. Thanks.
For strictly everyday carry, yes. The 26L is pretty big. I’ve carried mine as an EDC bag mainly for work and I definitely didn’t need that much space. I’ve found the 16L laptop bullet is really the ideal edc size for me.
I know I am the outlier here, but I prefer the 26L bags over the 21L GR1s. With my typical EDC loadout of IFAK, Mini wire DOPP for cables and chargers, rain jacket, extra pair of socks and underwear (in case life happens), and a GR1 FP with my reading glasses and iPhone camera lenses, I am often left wanting just a little more room. My Navy Heritage 26L GR1 is my dedicated camera bag, so I just picked up a Slate Heritage 26L to replace my 21L GR1 samurai..... but then ended up using the Dark Oak M23 for EDC instead lol! I have issues I guess.
Yes! I’ve got one in dark oak inbound. Should deliver tomorrow and I’ll have a video up before the end of the week. Looking forward to checking it out.
Heritage= Made in USA and Leather bottom. In my opinion. Not that USA made bags will be better than Made in Vietnam bags, it’s just what heritage means in Goruck terms. I have had good experiences with all my Made in Vietnam bags.
I have one coming- the M23 26l in dark oak to match the GR1 21l and the shoulder bag. My experience thus far has been with heritage waxed canvas though
@@Pack_roam It does. I have the M23 in olive and dark oak, and picked up the shoulder bags in dark oak and black. All of them say heritage on the tags. For reference, I have the full Heritage Navy Capsule with a 34L GR2, 26L GR1, Bullet, kit bag, field pockets and Grenade in Navy. I also have a few other GoRuck Heritage bags in the collection. The M23 waxed canvas is slightly thinner than the others. It does not feel any less durable, but is slightly thinner. I am currently using the Dark Oak M23 in place of my typical GR1 21L Samurai, and although skeptical at first, I am loving it. I like that it has more useable organization than the GR1 or Bullet, and I love the exterior water bottle pocket. Lastly, to me, Heritage means made in the USA and of waxed canvas. That's what this started out as, and I am fine with having 2 different waxed canvas lines. I just do not feel that non US made stuff should be labeled as Heritage. I have lots of MIV stuff. I have been there 5 times, and have had custom leather bags made in Hoi Ann that are amazing. They take great pride in their work, and I am not saying it is any less than, as the quality is no different. I just feel US made are the only bags that should wear the Heritage name. Just my 2 pennies.
@@joegonzales9053 Interesting. That’s what I understood as heritage… made in the US. The MIV stuff is a separate waxed canvas line. I was surprised to see “heritage” on the tag. This is the first MIV canvas bag for me, and I guess I have to come to terms with the fact that it’s labeled heritage. Same for me on the M23. I grabbed it when it was released in the ROBIC and fully expected to not like it, I completely passed on the M22 for that reason. After using it though, I love the organization and the fact that it remains sleek/low profile since that organization is largely concealed. I’m really looking forward to using the Dark Oak M23 but it’s running 2 days late. It’s been in town since Saturday but USPS just can’t seem to get it to me.
Some are, and some are made in Vietnam. Their GR and Heritage series are made in the U.S. The rest, including the non-heritage waxed canvas bags, are made in Vietnam.
It looks cool and vintage

Nice! Same here… I think it’s going to age well. I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Great bag.

Great review, man. Great looking bag.
Thanks! It is a nice bag that’s going to look even better with age.
I recently bought this bag and whilst I love it, I also wish it had a leather bottom. I have carpet in my house so the bottom is a big lint magnet.
Yep. Definitely would liked to have a leather bottom.

Thanks for the look at this thing.
Any plans to film a look at the heritage m23? Will be picking one of those up in dark oak later this month.

That’s the way I understood it. Heritage on the tag threw me off though. Do you have any of their other non-heritage, waxed canvas bags?

I’ve got the same M23 inbound. I’m curious to see if that one has heritage on the tag as well.

I thought goruck was made in America
