Glad to see this bag here to get some more info on it. Would be great if it was max 20l. 25 l is more a do nothing than do everything bag for me. Too big for edc and too small for travel. At least for me. Too bad some of the features won't ever go to the smaller bannoch. Just like we see with the bairn.

Would be an instant buy to see a smaller 20-21L version of this. Couple things though that stand out to me is the there really isn’t much quick access to this backpack outside of the 4 zipper pulls. The top pocket is only accessible if you take the pack off which is nitpicking and a preference thing. Id also love a side zip pocket like the arkhaig in the front. Great video!

Wish they put a adjustable sternum strap on this bag thats what keeping me from buying it currently. I know they sell it seperately but its too low on the harness and for the price and 25L it should include it.

Good video. I like that you break things up into phases. I'm an overweight couch potato, and started off with 25lbs plate for about 20-25 min walk. The limiting factor for me is my shoulders. It doesn't take long for things to become pretty uncomfortable.

What is the max “depth” of plates ie how many plates can you stack inside? I assume only 2?

Awesome you did a better presentation than their teasing dark picture commercial. I also bought it (was in my kart) but as the presentation was not very transparent, I passed. got the freefly, very happy with it! so light and water-resistant.

Man, the 18L Bullet 2 compartment is a damn beast and I'm pretty sure it fits more than 18L. I just put a Nikon Z8 with 400mm lens attached, a 24-120mm lens, an OM-1 with 90mm macro attached, a flash, diffuser, a change of clothes in a PD small packing cube, minimal tech and toiletries and kibble for my dog for 2 days. How the hell does all that fit in 18L?! I also have the Able Carry Daily Plus, which is 21L and I couldn't even dream of fitting all of this in it. Same with the PD Everyday Zip 20L.

After 8+ years of vx21 everyday use, i can tell you, whoever is needing to hear this, you wont break vx21 in edc modes. For hard, i mean... HARD use, then sure, go elsewhere, but give me weatherproof and lighter vx that breaks in like nimble nylon-y feeling material anyday. The higher up you go in strength the more "tarp" it starts to feel like. Not knocking x50 or x42, just saying that vx21 is PLENTY for edc and its lighter. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I have a commuters/personal electronics bag. And a separate EDC bag. Really ungainly/impractical to combine both.

Yo, the pockets on the outside, especially the one by the handle, are kinda weird. It's like they defeat the whole purpose of having a handle. Thanks JB, informative with plenty of poijts to ponder.

The one thing I can’t stand about dji is the shadows. You just can’t see. Alot of the time when your talking, on the shadow side of your face, it’s almost hard to see you. It’s the same thing they have done for years on all of there products whether it’s the cameras or drones. I honestly hate it. Other then that the action 4 is better in my opinion

Regarding the size at 22L. I love the original EDX for anything beach or water related. It's great for a few towels, snacks, clothes, and anything else needed for a beach trek while on vacation. Most smaller 15L daypacks struggle to hold all of these items. Great review!

What do the Brain bags weigh?

Sorry to comment on an older video, but I had a few questions about your experience with muir iii . 1. If you don't have the bag on and you have a waterbottle in one of the waterbottle pockets and then you tip the bag over does the waterbottle stay retained or does it just fall out? I'm thinking of a situation like putting it in an overhead bin. 2. How does that x11 hold up with use? I heard you say in your video that you have other bags in the same material. Thank you!

It looked like a MiV waxed canvas kit bag but it a nearly $100 more price tag. Is that accurate?

I always understood it to be rucking was from the military and everything was on your back, I suppose to wearing a weighted vest words on the front and the back, is that incorrect?

I wanted that specific kit bag you have in olive. When the black ones went on sale to $135, I did not realize it had a leather bottom, and leather handles. For $135 that’s insane. I still want the olive one as well, and it apparently now comes with a leather bottom and handles and patch. This inside label is also leather, with orange pockets. I’m newer to Goruck and am amazed at the price on these specific waxed kit bags. I did not expect for them to have leather. The only thing they do lack is the super cool waxed patch.

Would the tad azimuth fit in this category?

The Aer Go Pack 2 is another awesome packable bag.

The old JB would of thrown that bad boy in the shower to give it the old waterproof test.

Looking at the TAD Azimuth. Heavier VX. Another contender

I know this is somewhat unrelated, but how do you go about finding a specific bag on the secondary market? I missed the drop for the Mission Workshop Carryology bag and i really wanted to get one. How do i find someone to sell to me that wont scam me or overcharge me? Thank you!

I hate that they don’t offer the woodland camo in anything other than canvas. I just want a regular cordua woodland camo 34 and 40L GR2.

I’m really into packable bags. I own this one, 2 TAD Azimuths and actually am the lucky individual who bought JB’s original EDX off of him. My 2 cents: the TAD Azimuth is far and away the best packable bag IF you don’t plan to carry a laptop or use a separate laptop protective sleeve. However, it’s also a bit more expensive. The major TAD pros: the size can expand and my personal favorite, the expansion straps can be used to lock in your water bottle(s) so they never fall out. This is the main drawback to the Matador bags. They are both excellent but in practice, my water bottles fell out of both of them. So for use cases: I keep one Matador in my car and one in my wife’s car. I use one TAD to beat the shit out of and the other is my “nice” packable travel bag. I like them all!

I have it and it's surprisely very comfortable ! I use it every day. Lack of internal organization but I love it :D

The EDX Lite is really nicely built and great materials. Overall they did a really nice job. Would have liked a hydration port but the zipper can be unzipped a little for that. Will be one of my packable bags next trip.

Thanks for sharing your insights. My go to packable backpack had been the Tom Bihn Daylight backpack. They are great but wishing they had two water bottle pockets like some of the options you shared. I really like how lightweight the new Matador backpack is but I’ve seen some examples on social media where the grid pattern was not level. It would absolutely bother me if I bought this pack with this issue 😢
