Marvel has an absurd problem in recent decades with an obsession for turning their heroes into “omega level” characters. It used to be unusual and special when cosmic level characters showed up and even paid attention to humans.
Yeah, The Celestials USED to be a really big deal, but they really watered them down. When they first appeared, they were able to take on Odin, Zeus and Vishnu, and melt The Destroyer armor (With all of Asgard empowering it.). They’ve kind of become like The Juggernaut and Galactus now. Writers just trot them out when they want to hype up some OTHER (Usually new.) character and show how tough and powerful they are! It’s a shame. Hopefully they get back to being essential powerhouses. Are The Horde still around?
It would be cool if they made an alteration to the Juggernaut and made Cyttorak a Celestial, making Juggernauts armor actually Celestial armor, it would be a way of amping him back up and driving him crazy so he can be bad again.
I remember Celestials being a great threat. Galactus could take a few on his own, but would eventually be overpowered. I remember when Odin was absolutely terrified of both Celestials and Galactus. Odin needed every amp he could get to drive off Galactus and was forced into Odin sleep right after. How about Apocalypse being granted Celestial armor curb stomped Thor. Only for Thor to need an enchanted Jarnbjorn to take him out.
Power scaling isn't everything that concept would put a limit on characters that don't even have similar abilities it's not like Dragonball where everyone has a similar power set
There is no Celestial named the Gardener. The Gardener is (was) an Elder of the universe. Just 'cause Ego got a cinematic bump in status doesn't reflect on the group he came from. . . Add to that, Ego wasn't truly and elder of the universe to begin with_
You missed another time Thanos killed a Celestial, and that is when he had the power of the Heart of the Universe, where he actually destroyed everything in the multiverse . . . including the multiiverse.
I for sure like some of these defeating them, such as the Stone Age avengers. That makes sense. Black Bolt does make some sense as well because we have always been told how insane his scream is, but to kill six is meh to me. Like if it was 1 sure, but SIX?! Meh. Knull also makes sense. He was a big thing.
Celestials are just the new hulk. Used to be they always talked up hulk as the strongest and then he got absolutely merked and usually made to cry by every new bad guy to prove theyre a big deal until eventually hulk just looked weak af. They even did it with thanos in the mcu. Now every new bad guy kills a celestial to prove they're a big deal.
Ego killed at least one Celestrial, but I don’t know if you count Ego as a celestrial. In that case, it would just be him killing his own kind and I guess that doesn’t count.
What happened to the celestials in the Marvel Universe? They were supposed to be the scariest and most powerful beings next to the One Above All. They are supposed to be godlike, but now they are being defeated by street-level heroes. The writers are to blame for their downfall.
celestials were never that powerfull, MCU or comics. they are a bit below galactus. beyonder slapped them (in fairness, he slapped everyone), galactus slapped them, thanos slapped, them etc. basically they are the bitches of the universe, because they only fight way less powerfull beings, when the powers are similar, they usually flee like scared kittens. MCU eternals made them seem like badasses but they are defenately NOT.

Forgot one. The Odin force is a cosmic power kinda like the rules of the universe and the symbols that Odin uses are a extention of this. However Odin had to sacrifice one of his eyes gaining half of the Odin force. Apparently thors journey leades him to gain 100% of the Odin force the very foundation of the universe he gains the knowledge and full power of the Odin force. After this he goes on to slay a celtial with ease
That's not at all accurate. Odin didn't sacrifice his eye for the Odinforce. He sacrificed it to drink from the well of Mimir to gain wisdom. The Odinforce is comprised of the lifeforces of his father and his grandfather and now his. They're not symbols. That's rune magic. And Thor was given the Odinforce when he beat Odin in a fight and Odin thereafter made him King, which is why he is known as the Allfather now..back in 2018. Odin later sacrificed his life so that Thor could have 100% of the Odinforce during Cates' run when he fought the Mother Storm fused with Mangog. It's now called the Thorforce, and because it was literally their life essence, the Thorforce is stronger than the Odinforce. And If you're referring to when Thor became Rune King Thor, he didn't beat a celestial. He beat Beyonders from the TOAAs House of Ideas. Thor beat two celestials, one during his classic era and recently in an Avengers run back in like 2012. I could be wrong about who it was the first one, but I do think it was Exitar both times.
