Last week I experienced this sharp pain under my shoulder blade, so I remembered your advice to ATM. It occurred to me that maybe I'd let my lats atrophy. So I've been working my lats again, and this seems to have solved the problem. Thank you, and greetings from another southern Californian!
Thanks Matt. It's hard to believe I have to sign up for your "seniors" program, but here I am, with aches and pains and muscle loss, and and and.... Your focus on our age group is invaluable! My problem is following thru on exercising. I have always gotten that done by hiking, biking, yard work and building stuff. Maybe you have expressed something to this attitude before? If not, possibly spend a little bit on addressing this, "gung ho starting energy, but can't find the time/motivation to follow thru" scenario. It's not like the motivation isn't there. I can see clearly that I Need to perform these exercises, but I get distracted and maybe bored. Anyway, that's my 2 cent thought for today. With regards to today's posture video, this is SO important. I have the classic "tech neck" forward head posture. Many years working in front of the computer, or playing piano or guitar. I have tried the against-the-wall technique pretty often, and to my surprise, I could actually feel my head get closer to the wall when I did it last. This is Huge. Now, I need to temper my enthusiasm around exactly what you warned against. Don't do it 10 times today and again tomorrow. Thanks again. BTW, as a way to provide more of a connection to who I am, here's a link to my latest creation: ua-cam.com/video/vFtvaUzTG04/v-deo.html
Have you considered you may be ADHD? Sounds like classic novelty seeking for dopamine, especially if you can revisit the same thing at a later date and it's still interesting enough, for a short while. ❤
You have the absolute best videos. Whenever I have a pain I think of you saying pain = muscles and I look for a video of yours. In no time, I'm good. Thanks
I really need this now because I've been having cervicogenic headaches and they are mostly related to bad posture. Plus I'm a senior LOL so your timing is perfect. Never too late to start! The arm circles were surprising as to how fast I got fatigued, so more work to do there.
I love seeing exercise posts for seniors. Thank you for posting these. However there is always a little wariness for me when exercise advice for us comes from someone under 60. I'm no stranger to the gym or exercise but ageing has surprised me. At 70 it takes much more work for so much less gain...than even 10 years ago. If you do decide to do a senior program maybe have seniors of varying degrees of ability/mobility demo the exercises.
I am 88 and recently joined a gym and have a personal trainer twice a week. I want exercises that I can also do in my apartment with minimal equipment. I like the first two exercises you showed for seniors to improve posture and would like more exercises please.
Matt, you are truly a gem! I'm not a senior but I watch all your videos and they always help. I just did this video and my back, shoulders, and arms feel so much looser and less achy. I also love the back pain exercises part 1 and 2. All your videos are great. Thanks for all the knowledge and support!
Matt these are amazingly intense to do, but after the wall one i felt lighter! ( more bendy!!) I've been around UA-cam the last 5 years checking out movement physical therapists and sports coaches. You are one of the best for your intuitive teaching style and established understanding of the human form, thank you for sharing your abundant wealth of knowledge....
I had a surgery on my right hip for a labral tear. It caused a pretty severe muscle imbalance. I’ve been doing your exercises and stretches for the pelvic tilt (that’s what my x-ray showed). I can feel my hip is rotating back and it’s helped a lot! Somehow my right hip is still lower than my left. I’m not sure if I just need to keep doing the exercises or if I need to do something additional
Just tried both exercises, I'm 72 with bad posture and hunch-backed. The first exercise was tough, my head is miles away from the wall (but I will persevere) The second exercise didn't seem as tough even though there was strange clicking coming from my shoulders and arms
Ok. I'm a 72 year old male and I tried the head against the wall and I'm nowhere near it. Didn't surprise me as I tried similar on the advice of a sports massage practitioner and it actually resulted in me being in a fair bit of pain. I read then (online somewhere of course) that it is possible if you've had forward head posture for years (as I no doubt had) that your bones can fuse in place and can't be pulled back. Is this not true? Thanks. Great channel btw 😊
Matt, when I lay on my back on the floor, low back flat, knees up I can eventually get the back of my head to the floor. It normally takes more than a minute but I get there. After I relax there for few minutes I try your suggested wall sit but absolutely cannot get my head to the wall. What's the difference between the floor and the wall sit position?
Yet is my word of the year. I think I'm going to get it tattooed on my inside wrist! I'm 73 and started pole dancing last year. Every time I complain (well, whine) that I can't do something, my teacher says, "YET!".
I’m 68, not an athlete by any means. Last week I did cpr on a big man and now my left hand is numb when I try to sleep. Will this exercise help or hinder?
Hi, I'm 60 - usually I get up hunched when I'm getting up from a sitting position from a sofa - takes some time to straighten up - is this the xercise which you have shown here for me - Thanks

Yes I'm in for senior exercises. I'm 63 and taking care of my horses in WA State winters has gotten almost too much. 🐴🐴🐴 Thank you
This guy has improved my movement thank you 🎉🎉🎉
I like how you present. I'm starting tomorrow. 74, male, horrible Posture almost frozen shoulders. Thanks for your work
Welcome to the journey! Happy to have you onboard!
I do a lot of thoracic stretches because I lean forward often and sleep curled up, so every little bit of advice helps

Got a video coming out on the issue of setting up new habits and "willpower" 😉

Early 60's, and definitely need to do these, regularly, before things get worse.

Thanks! I think these will be very useful for me to do. I was surprised at what a challenge they were. Working on staying strong never ends!😊

I've been doing exercise #1 on an inversion table, and gravity helps pull the head into the proper position.
All of your exercises are great and useful.
Happy to be of service!
Perfect timing for this video. I’ve noticed I’ve been slouching lately.
Thank you so much for this practical advice!
Thank you. 🤗💟🙏🏼

@@cakleiss gravity?
@MundusGregorius I understand but it doesn't feel that simple for my body.
I am 75 and can’t quite get my head against the wall in exercise #1, yet
Nearly time to die

💪 Take your time! You'll get there! 😀
U dont need to

I am 77 and have Kyphosis due to a T 5 wedge compresstion fracture. Will this eventually work for me?
36 here for the seniors exercises
What do you think of lying on a foam roller along your spine?
Pain sucks, life is short, LOL every day a new challenge
I am 75 and can’t get my head against the wall in exercise #1, yet
Oh man, that was painful. Yeah, it's gonna take me a while. I am so hunched/curved, and I'm only 55. Yee.
You are funny
Thank you.
