He should get a million for each year, the best cancer treatment money can buy also paid for by the state, housing paid for by the state and a televised apology from the governor at the very least!
People act crazy when money is involved. That DA acts like it’s his money that he’s giving out. Plus, $330,000 isn’t even close to enough compensation for what that man went through. It’s barely even 1/5th of what he should have been making from working all those years if he hadn’t been convicted in the first place. It should have been in the millions that he got.
He is up top now living the wealthiest life and is young again. I'm certain he plead to God for no reincarnation onto earth again. I couldn't look at this planet a second time if I went through something like this.

I have served time in prison and being released is a feeling i cant describe. And thats when you were guilty and deserved to be there. I cant imagine the euphoria and how overwhelming it would be to finally have everyone realize you were telling the truth and let you go
Myself as well coming out alive withdrawing from benzos ! Was an absolute miracle! It was a week before the jail called my pharmacy they almost killed me I came out alive and a definite winner cause I learned about those pills enough to know the doctor too almost killed me no more!

Such a good interviewer. He's compassionate when appropriate and pushes back without rancor forcing the interviewee to clearly state his position. Dale Cox represents what is wrong with our justice system; he refuses to acknowledge his and the systems' flaws. He isn't interested in justice, only punishment. He'd change his tune if he or his family members were to go through what Ford suffered. "More death penalty!" is Cox' position. It is a travesty that judicial prosecution has become a game that is more about winning than justice.
@grandcalia8988....💯% agree with everything you said. However, I must point out that our judicial system is set up that once a suspect is arrested, he/she is "guilty until proven innocent." This is why you are arrested in the first place. Law enforcement has probable cause to arrest you. Meaning you are presumed guilty. Further increasing your presumption of guilt is the judge, if he/she denies bond. Meaning, you will need to wait months or years in jail until trial to prove your innocence. Or the prosecution offers you a plea deal based on your lawyer's negotiation skills or if he/she has a great relationship with the DA. So, it's NOT "innocent until proven guilty." Is "guilty until proven innocent."‼️
I was a Corrections Officer in two facilities. My first job had corrupt officers and I was harassed for eight months for doing the job correctly. I kept records of what happened each time. I finally got a Captain that rotated in who listened. I wrote a 13 page report of the eight months. People were transferred, demoted and fired. From my perspective the upper management knows what’s going on and do nothing about it unless forced to. Absolutely unacceptable.
I agree. Especially after working 20 yrs on Rikers. What about the victims of these criminals and how their lives and those of their families have changed because of these inmates. Most if whom are living their preferred lifestyle of crime and violence. Many enjoy what they do and have bragged about it.
@@tundrawomansays694 The inmates know most of their fellow inmates from the streets. Many Officers also grew up with these inmates. Unfortunately, many don't have the ability to distinguish between officer and former friend. This is how contraband is mainly introduced into the facilities. The inmates in a housing area being sized up as an easy target are usually those from a different racial makeup. Every inmate housed in a facility is asked whether they want to go to a general population area or PC, protective custody area. Those areas house child molesters, former law enforcement individuals and even celebrities that would be a target. I met David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash who was arrested on possession of cocaine. He spent a few days on Rikers and he was not the only celebrity to do so.
I'm very impressed with him. Sounds like it's eating him up. I hope he uses his compassion for good such as working with The Innocence Project, which may help to soothe his broken soul.

The current prosecutor for tbe Glen Ford case is an absolute monster and potentially racist. To thinks its acceptable for a man to spend 30 years in prison wrongfully convicted without being compensated is incomprehensible!! Sort of like how newscasters are required to say that suspects in a crime "allegedly" committed that crime, even when they have film of the crime. They risk being sued for slander otherwise, and it's just good practice to acknowledge that we don't know with 100% certainty. Most of the white people in my city are racist, but any given white person may turn out to be that rare individual, an aware and clear-eyed anti-racist. I deal with both types as my neighbors, so I get why one would say "potential racist" as a default, even when it's so obvious he is horribly racist.
I knew a guy who had done hard time. From his experiences, he shared this with me, "When you treat someone like an animal, they will act like an animal."

These prisons make money! The gov’t should step in. The institutions, across the country, should all be handed rules and regulations. This same thing happened to my daughter. The police withheld her medication and she was dead within 3 days . That was 2015 and nobody has been charged with killing my daughter.

Having an innocent man sit on death row for something you didn't do is just terrifying! Years ago my brother was arrested because there was an arrest warrant out for him. He spent a weekend behind bars until the detective handling the case came to see my brother and the first thing he said was, "This isnt the guy im looking for". And with that he was released.

I was a clinical psychologist in the prison system in three agencies (2 adult, 1 juvenile) in two states for seven years. While the stories and videos coming out of Rikers are absolutely horrifying, these issues plague correctional facilities across the country. Criminal justice and mental health reform are vastly overdue in the United States. Unfortunately, the only major changes I've seen are by means of lawsuits, but often there are blanket policies enacted that can cause harm as well. The states want to do the most efficient treatment for the bare minimum cost: ineffective at best, deadly at worst. I finally got out when I realized the system wasn't going to improve, and my personal and professional wellness was in danger by continuing to participate in the system.
Great point. It will take federal legislation to enact change. However once it gets to the level of our political leadership, the issue will get contorted through political rhetoric to the point you'd hardly recognize the original problem. So sad.
What is a mentally ill person doing in a correction center or prison? They don't belong there. They should be in a safe facility run by mental health professionals.. This is so inhumane, it's shocking. To mistreat someone who has no control over his behavior. The rich go to rehab centers and the poor rot in places where they have no business being. This is what happens when prisons and hospitals are businesses. Here in the Netherlands we have no private hospitals, and every citizen has medical insurance. If you can't afford to pay for it, the government subsidies it. The richest person and the poorest both go to the same hospital and will see the same specialists, because it is not a profit Making business. It's possible to both be a capitalist country with social conscience. We have no homeless people. And those that do so, do it by choice. Because there're special facilities for anyone who finds themselves homeless. A human life is precious. Don't judge why some people are drug addicts, you don't know what trauma they're trying to numb. And remember it can happen to you too. Life is funny in that way. It could happen to your kids. So go easy on the sanctimonious judgment.
@@Julz-26 rehab center is set up for wealthy to get decent treatment . It's hard to get help I've personally saw rates at 1,000 per month. 30 day rehab is 30,000. Thankfully I was in the US Army, but the government got ripped off. Rehab let's out and up to 90% will relapse especially with the first experience.😢😢😢
▪️Now they need to do a segment on the mentally ill being funneled into nursing homes and assisted living facilities. ▪️We are not trained or paid to deal with people with mental illness, yet we’re being forced to care for individuals who are often aggressive, combative, and violent toward staff and other residents. ▪️The families drop them off and expect us to just deal with the behavior of their mentally ill loved ones, and are quick to blame us for not being able to fix them. ▪️Most of the time you’re assigned to provide care for people with significant mental health conditions. They don’t tell you that they have mental illness; they’ll just say they have dementia. You figure out they have more than dementia when their egregious behavior becomes unbearable. ▪️Then, when you look at their medical charts and history, you find a history of them being in and out of psych wards and on a plethora of psychotropic medications. This is very stressful to the unsuspecting and untrained caregivers (CNA) who will have direct contact with them every day. ▪️The only time I’ve seen them removed is when they attack and harm another resident. Other than that, the facility will keep them there because an occupied bed = $$,$$$.$$

I also worked in MH field before the places mentioned were closed. It included regular checkups on folks from our county who were hospitalized (private or state) or were in other residential and aftercare including group home and occasionally nursig homes.. Am 64yrsold and appreciate your comments. Thankyou. When I was in elemenary school my single parent mom of 4 did shiftwork at a nursing home. Unaffordable child care meant as my mother did her job, I was develoing wonderful new friendships with the resident's that included sleepovers. I learned about life-stories, death, grieving, humor - and wouldn't change a thing if I could. House policy = psychotropic meds are prescribed by Psychiatrist only. ?? Patient qualities with MH Dx.
Yep. Was a CNA for 20 yrs & worked extensively in the lock down dementia ward & I know all too well of what u are talking about. Its why I retired. Am a line cook at a resort now & it totally beats being a CNA! 🤷♀️
So here is what I KNOW about how the state ofNewMexico deals with mental illness at least those that are on Social security disability. A company licensed by the state buys a 4 bedroom home. They house 2 people per room (8) with one caregiver on duty 24 hours a day. They wake them up in the morning feed them breakfast and then medication that’s makes them tired and back to bed they go. They are woken up later in the day for dinner then you guessed it medicated and put back to bed . Meanwhile the company charges SSDI $6000 a month PER individual, you do the math. This is a business ! This is from first hand knowledge whose son was put in one of these homes that had his rights and they couldn’t medicate him . That being said the one room mate he had took his spray deodorant and tried to get high off of it first chance he got. I honestly think these people would be better off with a high dose of fentanyl cause they will NEVER get better. This is NOT compassion it’s torture for profit.

The only bad argument my dad and I ever had was over Debra Milke. I said she was innocent, and dad said she was guilty. She was on death row at the prison were my dad was a sergeant. They found out the prosecutor lied and hid evidence. After serving 20+ years she was released and Jodi Arias is now in Debra's old cell. Unfortunately, my dad had already passed away, so he never got to know the truth. They need to compensate these people well, after stealing their lives.
All the wrongfully convicted people MUST have compensation because prison is NOT a safe place to serve a sentence but a place where a person must SURVIVE their sentence.

It is certainly! Not that it excludes misjustice but to me it does limit it, here in the Netherlands any potential sentencing of 1 year and more, is done by a so called 'multiple chamber' which basicly means there's not 1 single judge doing a case, but 3 or 5. Maybe sometimes 7. But since most are with 3, you do eliminate the judge in this video telling he was doing it for a career move. Just all so sad. This is my main reason to be against the death penalty. But a close second is not wanting to end the misery of people who DO belong there, but maybe finally come to regret their actions after 15 year when they previously wouldn't. Maybe that gives some solice to the remaining people of the victim.

I'm diagnosed with AVPD (avoidant personality disorder, very rare) and I had a small charge where I was arrested, and I tried to tell the staff that the medications I'm on (Clonazepam aka Klonopin) can't be stopped suddenly or else I could die. There are two drugs in the world that can cause death from withdrawal: alcohol & benzos (klonopin, xanax, etc). After doing my best to explain this to the staff I got a literal shrug from the employee as if to say "not my problem". I am fortunate a family member got me out before I faced any serious issues. And I'd be lying if I said it didn't leave me with a deep hatred for correctional officers.

So to answer your question is that God gave us all free will, although Mr. Ford didn't do the crimes he was convicted for he suffered the consequences of others' free will that ultimately put him in prison even if he was innocent. If God had not given us free will then I guess this would be a perfect world without sin like it was in the Garden of Eden.
He should do the amount of time that prisoner served, to hell with credit. That prisoner deserves nothing else, but to see the man that unjustly placed him on the death penalty serve his sentence.

People don't realize just how easy it is to be sentenced to prison and face life or death situations both from inmates and the guard's. I was 26yrs old when my bestfriend was driving his brother back to the Army base at Fort Lewis in McChord, Washington and while leaving the base on his way back to the main road, he was stopped by the joint base Lewis McCord Police and arrested for a DUII. It is an instant FELONY if you are caught on Federal Property while driving under the influence. He served 3 months at the Federal Detention Center in Washington and it literally ruined his life for years!... He's doing AWESOME now and has a beauitful family & his own business in landscaping but the stories he told us when he got back home changed my whole perspective on how quickly your freedom and life can be taken from you. He had a few drink's along with dinner while out visiting his younger brother off the base and just so happen to be pulled over, not for driving all over the road, but from a basic routine stop within the rights of the joint base police station and he blew just slightly over the limit. He plead guilty in court and was sentenced to 3 months in Federal prison and alcohol treatment - He is sober to this very day!...

I heard of the horrors that my battles went through. I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Tacoma Washington from Oct 6 2002- Feb 2006( Medical retirement due to the horrible effects of their vakkkcines, especially that Anthrax & depleted uranium. Deployed to Kuwait, camp Pennsylvania and & Virginia. The Balad, Iraq Post Anaconda. They have now merged McCord AFB & Ft. Lewis years after my medical retirement with Lupus & kidney failure. Over 20yrs still fighting been on dialysis for 3yrs now. I'm praying🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿😔 for all who have suffered or passed because of demons in human skin suits. My The Most High Cover All. There's too many horrors stories without a crumb of justice. 😢

I am a retired police detective that has investigated more critical incidents than I can remember. I would never put Poole and Cotton in the same lineup. They look way too much alike. Let me explain… If both were suspects of the same crime, I would conduct two different photographic lineups or not do any at all. Lineups are tricky… You have to have photos of people with similar physical characteristics, but you cannot have two photos who stand out against the other four. The scrutiny would be that the victim/witness chose one of those people because they stood out against the other four. My department has been using the one photograph at a time method for years. We even go as far to put each photo and its own blank folder and have two extra folders containing blank paper that we put on the bottom. The theory is that it will deter people from “shopping“ for the best photo.
I was in rikers for 28 days back in 86. As far as the guards go(most but not all guards) you are a nobody a nothing. They opened my cell when I was at chow so other inmates could take all my stuff. They allowed people to get robbed and sometimes stabbed without doing a freaking thing about it. They put murderers in the same areas as people's there for petty fines. As a result some of those guys didn't leave alive. I saw it with my own eyes. That place is a horror show. I think those responsible should be charged with crimes themselves. Rikers should be shut down. PERIOD.How many more have to die?
I've never understood why they lock 🔐 nonviolent and violent offenders up together. You would not put a sheep 🐑 in a cage with a lion 🦁. Then why mix a child support violater with a career criminal that ended or badly injured people? It makes no sense at all. 😶
Prosecuting attorney's can be very cruel and mean to the innocent! I know this first hand! My case thank God was thrown out i was looking at 15 years for something i didnt do and ill never forget the awful things the prosecutor said 😢
In the late 60s i sold a ounce of pot to a undercover cop , i was facing 20 to life at the time they were giving 10 years for 2 joints , fortunately i got a good lawyer & was offered a deal & plead guilty to possession & got a $1,500 & 5 years probation. How time's have changed .

I’m so sorry. I had a headlight out and I was pulled over on a traffic bench warrant I didn’t even know about from a fix it ticket they said I never paid. The officer pulled me out with a gun on me. He was shaking the entire time. They took me to jail! I was let out immediately… I found out it was a trainee cop who didn’t know wtf he was doing. He eventually got fired. I was a young white girl. Imagine if I were black? I have so much compassion for people. That humbled me.

That Louisiana death row attorney says the law is about justice but not compassion. Also, the state has no moral obligations beyond the legal variety. That prosecutors need only follow the law. How is the justice he says the law is about served by not only taking 30 years of a man's life, but akmost his life itself? And quantifies the mistake at $20? He has moral blinders on. He preaches morality but sees no need for it himself.
His defense was incompetent. the appeal should have been granted. The justice system isn't fair at all the lawyer they provided wasn't capable to Defend the man. and they knew it. lets just hope everyone involved pays for this injustice. if your rich your chances of being found innocent are high . and if your poor and has a jury designed to find your guilty your chances of being not guilty are sealed.
I hope the thing happens to this LA attorney, I hope he gets accused of something even worse and get convicted, incarcerated, put in the hole for the rest of his arrogant life so realizes what an a$$ hole is he.
For all my heart breaks for Mr Ford, I dare anyone in that exact position as a prosecutor, paid by the public to discharge the duty of prosecuting the individual charged with the crime, given the evidence provided, to act any differently...
Marty Stroud should spend the rest of his life in the same 5x7 cell as Mr. Ford. He can do all of his feeling bad while he’s there. Dale Cox just makes me sick to my stomach. Maybe one day he will be wrongfully convicted and have the opportunity to try those shoes on for the rest of his years.

I've never figured out what the value of surveillance/security video coverage could possibly be when such video clearly shows wrongdoing; yet, nothing is done as a result of that discovery.
Seems to me the culpability is often well documented and more legal aid societies need us to support them to file state and federal civil lawsuits on behalf of people and their families, perhaps even class action lawsuits? Ideas of ways for us to organize and strategically demand social justice is welcome. Madeline Albright was asked, "Who is responsible for enforcing human rights?. She wisely and correctly replied, "All of us." Persevere.

I have served time in prison and being released is a feeling i cant describe. And thats when you were guilty and deserved to be there. I cant imagine the euphoria and how overwhelming it would be to finally have everyone realize you were telling the truth and let you go

Myself as well coming out alive withdrawing from benzos ! Was an absolute miracle! It was a week before the jail called my pharmacy they almost killed me I came out alive and a definite winner cause I learned about those pills enough to know the doctor too almost killed me no more!

Such a good interviewer. He's compassionate when appropriate and pushes back without rancor forcing the interviewee to clearly state his position. Dale Cox represents what is wrong with our justice system; he refuses to acknowledge his and the systems' flaws. He isn't interested in justice, only punishment. He'd change his tune if he or his family members were to go through what Ford suffered. "More death penalty!" is Cox' position. It is a travesty that judicial prosecution has become a game that is more about winning than justice.

@grandcalia8988....💯% agree with everything you said. However, I must point out that our judicial system is set up that once a suspect is arrested, he/she is "guilty until proven innocent." This is why you are arrested in the first place. Law enforcement has probable cause to arrest you. Meaning you are presumed guilty. Further increasing your presumption of guilt is the judge, if he/she denies bond. Meaning, you will need to wait months or years in jail until trial to prove your innocence. Or the prosecution offers you a plea deal based on your lawyer's negotiation skills or if he/she has a great relationship with the DA. So, it's NOT "innocent until proven guilty." Is "guilty until proven innocent."‼️

I was a Corrections Officer in two facilities. My first job had corrupt officers and I was harassed for eight months for doing the job correctly. I kept records of what happened each time. I finally got a Captain that rotated in who listened. I wrote a 13 page report of the eight months. People were transferred, demoted and fired. From my perspective the upper management knows what’s going on and do nothing about it unless forced to. Absolutely unacceptable.

@@tundrawomansays694 The inmates know most of their fellow inmates from the streets. Many Officers also grew up with these inmates. Unfortunately, many don't have the ability to distinguish between officer and former friend. This is how contraband is mainly introduced into the facilities. The inmates in a housing area being sized up as an easy target are usually those from a different racial makeup. Every inmate housed in a facility is asked whether they want to go to a general population area or PC, protective custody area. Those areas house child molesters, former law enforcement individuals and even celebrities that would be a target. I met David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash who was arrested on possession of cocaine. He spent a few days on Rikers and he was not the only celebrity to do so.

I'm very impressed with him. Sounds like it's eating him up. I hope he uses his compassion for good such as working with The Innocence Project, which may help to soothe his broken soul.

Sort of like how newscasters are required to say that suspects in a crime "allegedly" committed that crime, even when they have film of the crime. They risk being sued for slander otherwise, and it's just good practice to acknowledge that we don't know with 100% certainty.
Most of the white people in my city are racist, but any given white person may turn out to be that rare individual, an aware and clear-eyed anti-racist. This same thing happened to my daughter. The police withheld her medication and she was dead within 3 days . That was 2015 and nobody has been charged with killing my daughter.

Having an innocent man sit on death row for something you didn't do is just terrifying! Years ago my brother was arrested because there was an arrest warrant out for him. He spent a weekend behind bars until the detective handling the case came to see my brother and the first thing he said was, "This isnt the guy im looking for". And with that he was released.

as someone that did 3 years in prison for something i didnt do i can only feel the smallest amount of his pain but it still rocks my core.
I was a clinical psychologist in the prison system in three agencies (2 adult, 1 juvenile) in two states for seven years. While the stories and videos coming out of Rikers are absolutely horrifying, these issues plague correctional facilities across the country. Criminal justice and mental health reform are vastly overdue in the United States. Unfortunately, the only major changes I've seen are by means of lawsuits, but often there are blanket policies enacted that can cause harm as well. The states want to do the most efficient treatment for the bare minimum cost: ineffective at best, deadly at worst. I finally got out when I realized the system wasn't going to improve, and my personal and professional wellness was in danger by continuing to participate in the system.

It will take federal legislation to enact change. However once it gets to the level of our political leadership, the issue will get contorted through political rhetoric to the point you'd hardly recognize the original problem. So sad.
What is a mentally ill person doing in a correction center or prison? They don't belong there. They should be in a safe facility run by mental health professionals.. This is so inhumane, it's shocking. To mistreat someone who has no control over his behavior. The rich go to rehab centers and the poor rot in places where they have no business being. This is what happens when prisons and hospitals are businesses. Here in the Netherlands we have no private hospitals, and every citizen has medical insurance. If you can't afford to pay for it, the government subsidies it. The richest person and the poorest both go to the same hospital and will see the same specialists, because it is not a profit Making business. It's possible to both be a capitalist country with social conscience. We have no homeless people. And those that do so, do it by choice. Because there're special facilities for anyone who finds themselves homeless. A human life is precious. Don't judge why some people are drug addicts, you don't know what trauma they're trying to numb. And remember it can happen to you too. Life is funny in that way. It could happen to your kids. So go easy on the sanctimonious judgment.
@@Julz-26 rehab center is set up for wealthy to get decent treatment . It's hard to get help I've personally saw rates at 1,000 per month. 30 day rehab is 30,000. Thankfully I was in the US Army, but the government got ripped off. Rehab let's out and up to 90% will relapse especially with the first experience.😢😢😢

Justice took a blind eye to convict an innocent man but when it came to compensation, no blind eye was taken.
▪️Now they need to do a segment on the mentally ill being funneled into nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
▪️We are not trained or paid to deal with people with mental illness, yet we’re being forced to care for individuals who are often aggressive, combative, and violent toward staff and other residents.
▪️The families drop them off and expect us to just deal with the behavior of their mentally ill loved ones, and are quick to blame us for not being able to fix them.
▪️Most of the time you’re assigned to provide care for people with significant mental health conditions. They don’t tell you that they have mental illness; they’ll just say they have dementia. You figure out they have more than dementia when their egregious behavior becomes unbearable.
▪️Then, when you look at their medical charts and history, you find a history of them being in and out of psych wards and on a plethora of psychotropic medications. This is very stressful to the unsuspecting and untrained caregivers (CNA) who will have direct contact with them every day.
▪️The only time I’ve seen them removed is when they attack and harm another resident. Other than that, the facility will keep them there because an occupied bed = $$,$$$.$$

Several in my family worked in nursing homes. Some died in one. Others also had rehab and were in and out.
I also worked in MH field before the places mentioned were closed.
It included regular checkups on folks from our county who were hospitalized (private or state) or were in other residential and aftercare including group home and occasionally nursig homes..

When I was in elemenary school my single parent mom of 4 did shiftwork at a nursing home.
Unaffordable child care meant as my mother did her job, I was develoing wonderful new friendships with the resident's that included sleepovers.
I learned about life-stories, death, grieving, humor - and wouldn't change a thing if I could.
House policy = psychotropic meds are prescribed by Psychiatrist only. ?? Patient qualities with MH Dx.
Yep. Was a CNA for 20 yrs & worked extensively in the lock down dementia ward & I know all too well of what u are talking about. Its why I retired. Am a line cook at a resort now & it totally beats being a CNA! 🤷♀️
So here is what I KNOW about how the state ofNewMexico deals with mental illness at least those that are on Social security disability. A company licensed by the state buys a 4 bedroom home. They house 2 people per room (8) with one caregiver on duty 24 hours a day. They wake them up in the morning feed them breakfast and then medication that’s makes them tired and back to bed they go. They are woken up later in the day for dinner then you guessed it medicated and put back to bed . Meanwhile the company charges SSDI $6000 a month PER individual, you do the math. This is a business ! This is from first hand knowledge whose son was put in one of these homes that had his rights and they couldn’t medicate him . The only bad argument my dad and I ever had was over Debra Milke. I said she was innocent, and dad said she was guilty. She was on death row at the prison were my dad was a sergeant. They found out the prosecutor lied and hid evidence. After serving 20+ years she was released and Jodi Arias is now in Debra's old cell. Unfortunately, my dad had already passed away, so he never got to know the truth.
They need to compensate these people well, after stealing their lives.

It is certainly! Not that it excludes misjustice but to me it does limit it, here in the Netherlands any potential sentencing of 1 year and more, is done by a so called 'multiple chamber' which basicly means there's not 1 single judge doing a case, but 3 or 5. Maybe sometimes 7. But since most are with 3, you do eliminate the judge in this video telling he was doing it for a career move. Just all so sad. This is my main reason to be against the death penalty. But a close second is not wanting to end the misery of people who DO belong there, but maybe finally come to regret their actions after 15 year when they previously wouldn't. Maybe that gives some solice to the remaining people of the victim.

"The system" needs to be set up so people who cheat their way through prosecutions etc are weeded out, but as we've seen from this they often go on to successful careers.

I'm diagnosed with AVPD (avoidant personality disorder, very rare) and I had a small charge where I was arrested, and I tried to tell the staff that the medications I'm on (Clonazepam aka Klonopin) can't be stopped suddenly or else I could die. There are two drugs in the world that can cause death from withdrawal: alcohol & benzos (klonopin, xanax, etc). After doing my best to explain this to the staff I got a literal shrug from the employee as if to say "not my problem". I am fortunate a family member got me out before I faced any serious issues.
And I'd be lying if I said it didn't leave me with a deep hatred for correctional officers.

So to answer your question is that God gave us all free will, although Mr. Ford didn't do the crimes he was convicted for he suffered the consequences of others' free will that ultimately put him in prison even if he was innocent. If God had not given us free will then I guess this would be a perfect world without sin like it was in the Garden of Eden.

People don't realize just how easy it is to be sentenced to prison and face life or death situations both from inmates and the guard's. I was 26yrs old when my bestfriend was driving his brother back to the Army base at Fort Lewis in McChord, Washington and while leaving the base on his way back to the main road, he was stopped by the joint base Lewis McCord Police and arrested for a DUII. It is an instant FELONY if you are caught on Federal Property while driving under the influence.
He served 3 months at the Federal Detention Center in Washington and it literally ruined his life for years!...
He's doing AWESOME now and has a beauitful family & his own business in landscaping but the stories he told us when he got back home changed my whole perspective on how quickly your freedom and life can be taken from you.
He had a few drink's along with dinner while out visiting his younger brother off the base and just so happen to be pulled over, not for driving all over the road, but from a basic routine stop within the rights of the joint base police station and he blew just slightly over the limit.
He plead guilty in court and was sentenced to 3 months in Federal prison and alcohol treatment - He is sober to this very day!...

I heard of the horrors that my battles went through. I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Tacoma Washington from Oct 6 2002- Feb 2006( Medical retirement due to the horrible effects of their vakkkcines, especially that Anthrax & depleted uranium. Deployed to Kuwait, camp Pennsylvania and & Virginia. The Balad, Iraq Post Anaconda. They have now merged McCord AFB & Ft. Lewis years after my medical retirement with Lupus & kidney failure. Over 20yrs still fighting been on dialysis for 3yrs now. I'm praying🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿😔 for all who have suffered or passed because of demons in human skin suits. My The Most High Cover All. There's too many horrors stories without a crumb of justice. 😢

Just because someone commits or allegedly commits a crime, DOES NOT give you the right to commit a crime against them.
I am a retired police detective that has investigated more critical incidents than I can remember. I would never put Poole and Cotton in the same lineup. They look way too much alike. Let me explain… If both were suspects of the same crime, I would conduct two different photographic lineups or not do any at all. Lineups are tricky… You have to have photos of people with similar physical characteristics, but you cannot have two photos who stand out against the other four. The scrutiny would be that the victim/witness chose one of those people because they stood out against the other four. My department has been using the one photograph at a time method for years. We even go as far to put each photo and its own blank folder and have two extra folders containing blank paper that we put on the bottom. The theory is that it will deter people from “shopping“ for the best photo.
I was in rikers for 28 days back in 86. As far as the guards go(most but not all guards) you are a nobody a nothing. They opened my cell when I was at chow so other inmates could take all my stuff. They allowed people to get robbed and sometimes stabbed without doing a freaking thing about it. They put murderers in the same areas as people's there for petty fines. As a result some of those guys didn't leave alive. I saw it with my own eyes. That place is a horror show. I think those responsible should be charged with crimes themselves. Rikers should be shut down. PERIOD.How many more have to die?

Prosecuting attorney's can be very cruel and mean to the innocent! I know this first hand! My case thank God was thrown out i was looking at 15 years for something i didnt do and ill never forget the awful things the prosecutor said 😢
In the late 60s i sold a ounce of pot to a undercover cop , i was facing 20 to life at the time they were giving 10 years for 2 joints , fortunately i got a good lawyer & was offered a deal & plead guilty to possession & got a $1,500 & 5 years probation. How time's have changed .

I’m so sorry. I had a headlight out and I was pulled over on a traffic bench warrant I didn’t even know about from a fix it ticket they said I never paid. The officer pulled me out with a gun on me. He was shaking the entire time. They took me to jail! I was let out immediately… I found out it was a trainee cop who didn’t know wtf he was doing. He eventually got fired. I was a young white girl. Imagine if I were black? I have so much compassion for people. That humbled me.

That Louisiana death row attorney says the law is about justice but not compassion. Also, the state has no moral obligations beyond the legal variety. That prosecutors need only follow the law. How is the justice he says the law is about served by not only taking 30 years of a man's life, but akmost his life itself? And quantifies the mistake at $20? He has moral blinders on. He preaches morality but sees no need for it himself.

I've never figured out what the value of surveillance/security video coverage could possibly be when such video clearly shows wrongdoing; yet, nothing is done as a result of that discovery.
Seems to me the culpability is often well documented and more legal aid societies need us to support them to file state and federal civil lawsuits on behalf of people and their families, perhaps even class action lawsuits?
