I was locked up in Jail/Comm.Corrections/D.O.C. back in the late 90's and saw first hand how they treated those who were on psych meds, and it was never good for the inmates inside because depending on their situations some of them may never get out based on the court ordering them to take their psych meds, and if they didn't then most of them will never get out, or when they do most are not ready to deal with a society, getting a job, a place to stay, and staying off of alcohol and drugs! The one thing they left out is back in the 70's, 80's, 90's(Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton)started closing all of the psych hospitals because they were simply too expensive for anyone to stay(avg. cost for one person for a whole year 300K, which includes nurses around the clock, food, security, meds, laundry, supervision, classes, therapy, one on ones with a clinical psychologist, etc., etc...)which means most of the people today that need to be in those places are now currently in our Jails, Prisons, Homeless Shelters, Living on the Streets, or staying in Low income Housing such as myself!!!

Yes I know the prisoners deserve what they did, they killed people... but it's the sadistic narcissism of the players within the system that I find worrisome... Its like when the system let's a p-file into general population with gangs... They want to see the inmates torture the guy... and then they punish the inmates for doing it... Sadiatic

Once a person goes to prison it’s basically like your life has ended, because when they get out trying to get a decent job they run back ground checks see you were in prison and you don’t get the job, there’s no trying to enter back into society so you gotta go back to what you know just to eat. And that’s why some end up back in prison. I personally know someone who did prison time for drug trafficking, got released, said he wasn’t into that life anymore tried to get jobs he was very qualified to do only for that prison sentence that he already paid his debt to society for come back to haunt him after the background checks, so he said to hell with it started moving drugs again, didn’t get caught this time, now he owns four legal businesses and a couple apartment buildings and out of the drug game. But the fact is once you go to prison there’s no paying your dept and get out then everything goes back to normal, you pay that debt for the rest of your life, some places won’t even give you an apartment to live. This is reality!!!!

I served as a religious studies volunteer at IDOC Pocatello Idaho and FCI Dublin- Ca for seven years. I personally was not treated well by several of the guards and other Religious professionals within FCI Dublin. I came into their facility and space almost every Sunday and was always on high alert while there. One of the Chaplins who has since had charges brought up against him used to walk me from one side of the prison to the other yard and less secure side of the prison. He confided poor behavior from others but never included his own behavior of sexually assaulting the women who were and are still incarcerated therein. He was too friendly to me wherein other guards were very nasty and intimidating to me. Simply put they did not want me in their space to see, hear or be witness to any of their horrific behavior. I am very relived there has been ongoing arrests and investigations. They all need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! Thank you for your coverage 60 minutes.
