It still gets me at the end with, "...and if you DOOOOOO....."
Classic 1 liner🤣
It's one of those things in any group, especially the military. If someone has a bit of a catchline or quirk, you can guarantee that people will start mocking it!
The best type of laughter is the one you have to hold till someone has left the room.
Had this once at school... well almost.
Passing notes between mates right in front of the Teachers desk; an R.E lesson (Religious Ed.). Twice, the three of us got caught out, the third time I did nothing but still got told off big time. It was a supply teacher, who actually, used to be the full time R.E Teacher. Anyway, third time, the three of us got sent out of the classroom to stand in the next room.
She came out and seriously, full-on ripped into us; shouting at the top of her voice. I swear I could see smoke coming out of her ears!
It built up... seriously it built up so much... and honest to goodness, the three of us tried to keep it in but... we just burst out laughing so loud... right in her face... whilst she's still shouting at us! So we were ordered to stand in separate corners of the room, facing the wall. Bear in mind, that this was a Catholic Secondary (High School) in Wales, UK.
She sent down for the school's Deputy Head. So Mr Campbell came up to see the three of us. Okay, so has has the three of us stand with him in the middle of the room and asks us, okay lads, what's going on. So we explained to him truthfully, including the laughing in her face as she was getting angry telling us off... He bursts outlaughing himself. What a legend!
So yeah... when someone is going off on one and you are dying to laugh... you either let it out or you'll wet yourself for sure!
Laughter is on heck of a stress release!
I love how they are legitimately all cracking up; that was real laughter, they could barely keep it together during this scene.
I wonder how many times they had to do this scene.
Made me laugh out loud just watching it now.
I think I would really enjoy the outtakes on this scene!
This shows Robin's genius improv ability. And Bruno Kirby doesn't get enough credit for being able to do the scene without cracking up!
For playing such a shitty character, Bruno was fantastic at it. Sometimes watching this you can forget he is quite the comedian himself.
@@samsonguy10k very true! May they both RIP
Actually, Robin Williams improved most of the movie
@@davidtaylor8002 no, only about 20% according to Director Barry Levinson
@@samsonguy10k I heard that Reader's Digest was considering publishing two of his jokes.
LOL! I went around for years yelling, "And if you dooooo....and if you dooooo...." LOL. Only some people got the reference...
I still say this, by myself while cooking or wherever at times!
I say this all the time, and it's rare that someone can play along lol
Most of my family members still say "And if you dooooo" to this very day. lol
I'm still talking with my hubby "when you dooooooo. "When you doooooo. Manager to put the washing away 😂😂
LOL 😉
"Excuse me sir. Seeing how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? Because if it leaks to the VC, he could end up in MIA and then we'd all be put on KP.” Genius. Hysterical. Amazing. RIP Robin Williams
Thanks. Never seen the full movie yet. Will rectify that as soon as I can. Still love this scene, though. True comic genius on display by Robin Williams. May he rest in peace.
One last abbreviation:
RIP
@@andyanderson1226
Amazing script writers.
@@dangeroreilly2028 Wasn't the writers, was all done on the fly by Robin.
Ad-libbed apparently! 🤣
It's Robin Williams' show, definitely, but Bruno Kirby is PERFECT in his role. "And if you DOOOOooo....!" Ha!
Bruno Kirby was the man.
They were both phenomenal. They must've been laughing the whole time this was filmed.
Hard to believe he was in godfather 2.
.
Pay for the truck and my home and my time there will be no problems other than that Us court Gigante
I lost it when Hauk left and everyone started mocking “AnD iF yOu DoOoOoO…aNd If YoU dOoOoO”
- If you DOOO, If you DOOOO, if you DOOOOOO RIP Bruno Kirby
and RIP Robin Williams for the best performance of him career!
Glad to see Robert Wuhl and Forest Whitaker laugh of Kirby and him quote!
LOL!!
How is it possible Robin did not get the academy award for this performance? This movie stands the test of time!
Because Academy Awards are essentially meaningless. They are certainly no guarantee of quality.
Yer right. He was ROBBED.
Who won best actor?
RIP Robin. You gotta give some credit to Forest Wittaker in this scene, too. His timing is great. And Bruno Kirby is awesome. Looks to me like he really made Robin laugh there. Great scene all around.
Well said.
It was well cast, for sure.
I met Bruno Kirby and his dad Bruce Kirby... two of the nicest men I ever met. Bruce Kirby was in tons of movies; he played the shopkeeper in Stand By Me. I recognized Bruno and asked for an autograph. He said, "Sure, you should get my dad's also... he's better than me!" That's when I recognized him. I could tell how much they loved each other. Sweet-sweet men.
Bruno died from the same type of leukemia I have except I went from stage 3 to 1. Awful stuff. He was talent lost way too soon.

Bruce’s real name was used in Stand By Me.
He was a solid actor, thanks for sharing the story.
I liked both of their acting in every role where I’ve seen them.
By far one of the best scenes in the movie. Everybody's timing in this was impeccable. Especially Williams. The way he rattled off the last line, and had Kirby steaming under the collar was hilarious. RIP Mr. Williams and Mr. Kirby we'll miss your wit.
* *Everybody's* timing.
I miss Bruno Kirby, but I do not miss Robin Williams. He had his moments in this film, but I think his best film was World According to Garp, in which he didn't act as himself. I don't understand the hero worship of Williams. Guess I am just too old school. To each his/her own.
@@dougbrowne9890Too egotistical you mean. Your opinion did not need to be stated but you went ahead because you think that much of yourself.
Mr. Kirby tried not to laugh. Just before he turns around after Adrian said KP.
This scene cracks me up every time! Only a comic genius like Robin Williams could take the military version of “alphabet soup” and make it hilarious! The sky has lost a star, but the pantheon of the truly “greats” has gained another true artist.
RIP Robin Williams
How did the film make use of comedy?
RIP Bruno Kirby and Robin Williams. Both men where Hilarious in this in such different ways.
i love that he didnt even make it out of the room before they all burst out laughing
I've got the strange feeling that maybe, juuuust maybe, it was the actors breaking role and cracking under the strain of trying not to laugh .😂😂
@@RustyDust101 Our Survey Says : Damn Right.
When you see what Bruno had to do to trim down, stay in character and NOT crack up, , this is the guy who deserves an oscar.
1:09 That train horn laugh of Robert Wuhl's!
Perhaps my favorite Robin Williams moment. So incredibly sad to lose him.
+Greg Alexander Bruno Kirby ("And if you doooo...") is sadly gone, too.
My Marine unit had a boot officer that was a lot like Haulk. One day, one of the other guys started with "... and if you DOOOOOOO" when he left the room and everyone died. It was truly hilarious!
You can see Robin barely keeping it together when Bruno delivers that line!
@@fender.tone.63 they're ready to PISS. THEIR. UNDIES.
I literally googled "and if you doooo" and this comes straight up :)
I just had to do that. Been saying it for YEARS and suddenly, after saying it just now, I blanked on where it was from so I had to look it up. Took 2 milliseconds to return as top result. Thank goodness.
Bruno Kirby left us way too soon. He was a sublty good actor in every movie he was in.
Richard Edson's "duh, don't know what to do" look at Bruno Kirby and Robert Wuhl's off-camera horse laugh never seem to make me laugh until I can't breath.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Hearing forrest giggle like a kid in fucking class puts me in tears!! I have a friend that cannot hide his laughter an the more he tries the funnier it is. When i see forrest an robin next to each other trying sooo hard not to laugh makes me miss my friend who is in the air force mp.
Garlic to Lt. Weasel at 0:41........."the former vice president is a delight, sir". What a line regarding Tricky Dick! The casting in this movie was excellent.
Robin was a genius 🤣🤣 utterly miss this Man . Always brought me out of a slump. Forever in our hearts 💖
"and if you dooo, and if you dooo"...lol Robin was a comedic genius. May he rest in peace.
These guys were brilliant in this movie. RIP to Robin and Bruno. Awesome their work at least lives on and will make everyone laugh forever.
J.T. Walsh dead too.
And if you DOOO and if you DOOOO
When Robin is doing his dialogue about the abbreviations if your look at the face of Forest you can tell that this is not the first time he has heard this dialogue
It takes great talent to hold your own against Robin Williams. I love Lt. Frenchy.
0:21 Hauk is so surprised and happy that someone is taking him seriously ...... when in reality I suspect that Dreiwitz was just taking the piss and really thinking "yeah, right, whatever". 😆🤣😂
RIP robin Williams..we will miss you
This scene, as well as the "fosse fosse fosse" scene in The Birdcage are my all time favorites.
And if you DOOOO, and if you DOOO!!!!
😂🤣😂
Robert Wuhl’s laugh always makes me laugh
Yeah kind of like Lewis scholnick
..
It was an on going delight throughout the movie. Hhheeeuuuuugghgghghhrhhr
Bruno Kirby was so unique and underrated from all of his roles in his career rip 🙏
If there is a Mount Olympus of Cinematic Laughs, Robert Wuhl punched his ticket there with this scene.
Robin Williams WAS my fave comedian OF ALL TIME. I find it very difficult to watch his movies anymore as it just breaks my heart. RIP Sir Robin...you are VERY MISSED!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely classic! So sad to be watching two that have gone before me but they really hit the target on this one!! So funny!!!
Such a good actor. I admire anyone who has self awareness of their rigidity and can laugh at themselves or be laughed at like the actor here
I didn't realise what a great actor Bruno Kirby really is and he's done so many films
Best movie ever ..great scenes and music . Rip RW. U never die to us . Love from Coimbra Portugal ❤
I forgot about all the sheer talent that was in this movie. A cast of incredible actors.
"Excuse me sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? Because if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., then we'd all be put on K.P."
...(Gives up)... ... ...
"I would like to leave the room now"
I mean, imagine yourself in that situation.
Somehow it is even more funny in written form.
I saw this movie when it hit theatres, and to this very day, whenever someone says “and if you do”… well… I can’t help myself… it’s an impulse!
“And if you dooOOoo…” 😁
I do the exact same thing. Consider yourself my friend.😂
Bruno was also amazing loved him in alot of his movie's.
one of if not the Funniest Man of the Film Industry has Left us today thinking he was alone I wish we could have told him to stay here with us that he was not
That has to be one of the best summaries of how I feel about it. Exactly what I have been thinking ever since I heard. RIP Robin Williams. You will be sorely missed and fondly remembered and always loved by many.
He passed away FOUR YEARS AGO?! I remember the day I heard about his death like it was yesterday. 😢
Never gets old
RIP Robin Williams. You are sorely missed.
One of the best movies ever made! Robin Williams was a comic genius!
Omg! This made my day :)
I've been searching for the movie but this is sooo funny...Robin Williams is the best.
You can literally see Bruno Kirby fighting back laughter. On the Carol Burnett Show, Tim Conway used to do that to Harvey Korman all the time. RIP, Robin...you left us too soon but with a lot of laughs...
No, the best line for bruno kirby was always when he would say at ease letting everyone know it got to him no one ever came to attention for him 😆😆the first time he says it someone pointed out they already were and judging by the confused look on their faces I'd swear he improvised 👍
This is absolutely comedy genius
He really savoured that 'affirmative, sir'.
One of my favorite scenes. Classic movie.
Can we all appreciate the fact that Bruno Kirby was one hell of an actor? The guy gave both the young Clemenza in Godfather 2, and Lt Hauk in Good Morning, Vientnam.
It will shock some people but Robin, genius as he was, did not improvise as much as people like to believe. Most of it was prepared, rehearsed and honed to a fine point. That does not mean that he did not throw in something last minute that tickled his funny bone because he certainly did that and you can tell when he did because his fellow actors would crack up. Just look at Matt Damon when he told about his wife farting. That laugh was not scripted.
Bruno Kirby, what a wonderful actor he was. I loved him in everything he did, especially being the best young Clemenza ever!
This is by far one of Mr. Williams best movies and Robin Williams always a man of comedic genius he was one the Greatest Comedy Actors in History R.I.P. Robin We Will Miss You
Robin was one of a kind
The guy behind Bruno Kirby...Ferris Bueller's parking garage attendant.
"Uhh...what country do you think this is?"
Oh yeah
Glenn Quagmire He's Vito in "Do the Right Thing" as well
"He's funny, he's like a Marx brother!"
"And which one would that be? Zeppo?"
"Is he the one with the hat?"
Ooooohhh yeeeaaaahhh
He was also one half of the NYC duo 'Sandy & Sal' in 'Platoon', who sadly bought it due to a VC booby trap.
What I love too is ABSOLUTELY no one disliked this video. Shows how much Robin Williams was/is loved.
You do know that youtube is hiding the dislikes? Been a thing for about a week now.
Bruno Kirby sells this scene. Great actor. RIP
This acronym scene is hilarious!
Rip Robin ❤😢No one like you ever ❤❤So Funning funny and just brilliant and kind and beautiful Never forgotten ❤❤❤
Simply Genius.
one thing that i think is really funny in this movie is that they think they can actually order robins character around. robin is playing a airman in the US airforce and most of the characters in this movie are in the US army which can not order personnel of other branches of the service around
You’re completely wrong. Never served, did ya?
@@bodidley5015 LOL. yeah i dont think so. plus it would be based on certain situations. army people ordering around air force personnel doesnt happen.
@@teacher555555 ever hear of a joint command dummy?
this scene is perfect
Bruno Kirby was definitely a very talented actor. Most people don’t know/realize/remember that he played the young Clemenza in The Godfather part 2.
1:06...That long inhale laugh 😂😅😂😅😂😂🤣🤣😂
Bruno Kirby was brilliant in that role.
To this day when I'm at work and I end up saying, "And if you do . . ." I just start laughing with co-workers making confused faces. Then there's that one co-worker who says, "Gooooooodddddd Moorrrrnnnnnningggggg, VIETNAM!!!"
Forrest was so delightful in this film.
That laugh at the end is the best!!!
One of the best movies.
One reason I like this movie is how much it is like army admin (or in this case, signal)
F*cking brilliant! We've all had a boss likè that at some stage! 🤣
The outtakes to this movie are probably triple the length of the whole movie. Everybody cracking up all the time, I imagine.
LOL!!! This scene never gets old.
0:48 Forest Whitaker is trying so hard 😂😅🤣
what's also funny is how correct Robin Williams character was....loose lips sink ships.
El, al igual que Bob Hope, es grandioso, y no lo podrán imitar o traducir, su sola dicción no puede ser igualada.
Brilliant!
Adrian Joseph Cronauer was a United States Air Force Sergeant and radio personality.passed away July 18, 2018....I felt saddened by the announcement!
lol so great!! lt. steve is so perfect for the army!!
So incredible that Bruno Kirby played young Peter Clemenza.
Pairing Robin and Forest was comedy gold!
I never in my whole life heard or seen the name Bruno Kirby. I was 10 when this movie came out so I have not watched it in a very long time. Seeing these clips now I assumed that was Joe Pesci lol ...
I read somewhere Kirby, may he rest in peace, said this was his favorite filmmaking experience but everyone always wanted to hear about him working with Bobby DeNiro in Godfather Part II or Brando on The Freshman.
One the funniest scenes ever 😂
Respectfully, sir, the former VP is a GOOD man and a DECENT man.
Carlos Rivas "'More need of a blowjob than any white man in history'... That's funny."
"i wouldn't buy an apple from the sonafabitch and I consider him a close, personal friend!"
Bullshit, I know Nixon personally. He lugs a trainload of shit behind him that would fertilize the Sinai.
Bullshit! I know Nixon personally. He lugs a trainload of shit behind him that would fertilize the Sinai. Why, I wouldn't buy an apple cider from the son of a bitch and I consider him a good, close, personal friend!
A line I quote all the time (when appropriate).
I’d like to know how many takes this scene took to make.
The horse laugh kills me!!😂
Always and forever , the brilliant Robin Williams .
You can see them all trying not to lose it
The actor playing Lt. Haulk is a fabulous comic foil.
I miss Bruno Kirby, the guy did great work
Sir, seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we put the PC on the QT? 'Cause if it leaks into the VC, he could end up MIA, then we'd all be put out in KP.
