The best aid is 'Deano's pencil' especially the rubber on the end for altering scores after a round.....
That's a great way to lower one's handicap. 😂
@@DrRockso. He got caught. They all do in the end. Nice try though!
Simon: "I think the putting mirror is VERY good!"
Also Simon: *puts it in the OK category*
Just started to use a thin elastic string tied between two tees. From this you can set an aim line for putting. One aid I missed from the rating was a soft ball on a string around your neck to place in between your arms. I’ve seen many pros use this in practice
Here's one for putting, get a 1m metal rule at your local hardware. If you can putt the ball on it from one end to the other, you've got the perfect test of path and face direction. Plus, you can use it for drawing straight lines!
Totally agree, keep it simple.
Yep, great recommendation.
I use large plastic dog bowls from the dollar store for pitching and chipping targets in my back yard.
In my garden I use a Spurk mat (to protect grass ) and airflow (plastic ) balls with split colours , they give great feedback on strike, spin and accuracy .
Great video! I've always wondered about training aids and how much was gimmick and what has good value. Thank you so much for doing this!
Putt out trainer is brilliant. Wish do a cheap one for a couple of quid too. Brilliant aid.
putting mirror is under rated here... its super for getting kids into good positions and aiming. we started by using a CD instead because they are free😀
Orange whip. Tour Stiker smart ball.
Love these types of videos. Keep them coming.
Thanks Will, appreciate it pal 🙌
Love my puttout!! What do you think of training grips which are formed to teach the proper grip?
Very good choices Simon agree with them all.
I can think of a few more or alternatives. Acustrike golf mat. Old Duvet up against a hedge rather than net...it will also show you the spot where the ball hit. One square of toilet tissue....lay it down in a carpeted room or hallway and putt the ball from any distance and aim for the ball to stop on the tissue.
The Putt-Out is excellent when used with a line on your ball.
Great tips on aids. Surely the second to last should be in the "Stricktly Come Dancing" section. Just ordered Puttout with a mat and alignment sticks.
1 i liked (out of the 100's i received for birthdays and xmas 🙄) was the moulded grip that showed where to place your hands...not that everyone has or needs a perfect grip but if you hold it and your hands are way off you probably need work on your grip.....i think i got it for about £9.....that and a few alignment sticks and a can of cheap dry hair shampoo and you might be the next Tiger
Really useful guide, thank you
I still carry the Medicus in the bag. Great as a warm up that gives instant feedback for multiple swing flaws. Pretty old but really works.
What about those clubs with the rubber/super soft shaft where to try and help tempo/stop rushing early in the swing?
Hi Simon, do you know anything about Blast Motion ? I was looking for something to measure club speed as cheap as I could get it. This is about £60 pounds more but has a lot of other stuff in it.
Great vid Simon, any experience of the DST compressor clubs, seen them in quite a few tour pros bags, Finua,Rose,Rahm? Thanks
I've got the DST 8 Iron. I really like it and would say it's worth it. I also went for a lesson and the guy said it was an awesome tool, suggested the wedge version. It's great at showing you where your hands should be at impact and really "connects" the swing.
Have or had a few of the training aids. Some I still use and some I've never used lol.
This is such a great video!
Looking into these cause I stated golf 9 months ago n came along ways I fixed a bad slice to hitting 275 straight but my irons n flop shots need work n winters coming so I need a training aid to get me through 3 months of winter.
How did you fix your slice?
Upside down CD or DVD for putting will show eye position. Great cheap option.
Awesome job!!!!
Please do a review of the Performance Golf Straight Stick being advertised constantly on UA-cam by Rocco Mediate.
I brought the momentus club years ago a great tool 🔥
I'm surprised you didn't include the swing donut. Or is that better classified as a warmup aid?
How about the lagshot.
Driver/ iron/ wedge
Heavy
Great warmup
And u can hit balls with
What are your thoughts on the lag shot?
Any thoughts on the Zen GRF footboard from Zen golf mechanics? That’s a pricy bit of kit, anyone find it useful?
i have an extra club i push an alignment stick into the center of the grip to practice with instead of holding on to it or buying a gimmick
I think the mirror is on the wrong place... It should be at least on good side or even on great... It helped me a lots. Even Cameron Smith use it e very time during warm up before the game.but that swing speed trainers really should go to ok.
Otherwise all other is fine 😁👌
Missing too many other training aids. Would like to see those also.
How is the net in the really section? Since getting one and practicing more at home, my HC has dropped from 18 to 6.
Simons reasoning was due to net durability and likleyhood of breaking things with a mistruck ball. I use 'almost' balls with a cheap net to solve that problem. Love getting daily practice in at home in the garden instead of going to the range. The money i saved on range balls is slowly paying for my launch monitor. Happy days
Could you run through some putting & chipping drills with coins and tees ?
I'd say don't buy any of it and save a few grand for a DIY simulator. The hundreds/thousands of hours of fun/practice/exercise you'll get is worth it. Finding the space is probably the hardest part.
What about Mike Austin's "Flammer"?
Speed Training is different from Training aids.. actually is a complete different category with multiple players: SuperSpeed, The Stack, Ryp Stick (my favorite)
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Tour Striker Ball. Seems like a lot of Pros practice the short game with it.
Likewise.... and an indoor putting mat?
What about the tour striker Planemate ?
Real swing plus feedback - that's why i like the tour striker 7 iron, launch monitors (i use swing radar and voice caddie 2) and even zepp thing on the glove. "doing this equals that". Mobile phone camera too. Definitely agree with most if not all of your choices here.
Tour striker ball ??👀🤷♂️ that's brilliant as long as you stick with it
You forgot the Leadbetter “swing setter”, I bought one decades ago and still use it today, unfortunately I use it to fend-off rats while I’m fishing. God knows what it was really meant to do.
How about the orange whip (or cheaper skilz version). I've found it a useful warm up aid and the moulded grip has helped eliminate pain in the joint of my left thumb by encouraging both hands to a slightly stronger grip.
Swinging while keeping a golf glove under your armpit and a credit card in the back of your glove are awesome aids
V easy is number 1 right?
Shout out to Terry G. Say what you will…but the dude lived it.
What about the medicus?
I play off 7 on an tour course and only play off whites, not blacks, courses play off 7100 and 6950, the towel drill long game is the best, short game is all about practice, alignment on putts u can get more for a line and 10 mins on practice green 2-3 times a week vs 300 quid outlay
New wedge vs nee driver?? Ever season I by a new 52 and 56 wedge , drivers I buy every 3 years and a year old minimal driver, and I buy
Cobra for drivers year later good value, wedges I've got an eye for vokeys, but I don't c much difference in performance with the likes of a year old cobra wedge or a Wilson, but my eye just likes vokey and the wedge is where I'm willing to pay for confidence,
A training aid that works AND I can send back within the 30-day return limit to Amazon... how is that not Epic??
Who is that dog on your hat?
BS on the hitting net, i use mine 3-5 times a week. It folds up on 10 seconds...
Should have mentioned the ball you hold between your arms and make a swing without dropping the ball.
Dr Kwon rope
I can make these for you
I wish you had done a bit more explaining what each of these are. I mean the shirt is kind of self explanatory
The only training aid I've ever purchased was the Superspeed system, which was $200 U.S. I've gained 20+ yards across the board with it. Driver went from 260 to 290. 7 iron went from 155 to 175. Best golf purchase I've made. Far better than any new driver.
No disrespect but I sold my super speed and bought the stack system. Crazy gains
Apparently everyone in the UK has a "garden" - who knew?
Can you imagine Lee Trevino with this pile of crap??
I still listen to Lee teach golf!
@@darrelldavidcooper1755 watch his videos over and over, true wisdom.
Forgot one other item...mobile phone using the video.
What's with the forced YT context box for HIV??! 🥴
UA-cam think he’s talking about AIDS the disease and not training aids.
God do I like your unbias opinion.
UA-cam has gotten pretty dumb. You got a context box for HIV/AIDS on this video.
Lol
David Leadbetter Swingsetter anyone?
