I SiMPLY Fixed My Wrists Like This & It Solved My Hip Rotation Problems
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 чер 2024
- Today I get a golf lesson to fix the wrists in the golf swing. With these wrist fixes on the downswing and transition, it helps me compress the ball and gets my hips open effortlessly. My golf coach Dana Dahlquist goes over the proper way to use golf swing kinematics to do this, and we also go over golf tips and drills to achieve all this.

I love how honest Dana is about over thinking. And stopping Jerome from getting in his own way.
These videos with Dana have helped my swing more than years of watching other videos. Nice job!
oh i agree so much
Uncle Dana serving up life lessons. You're in good hands, Jerome.
dana’s a mfing G
Man, that is one good coach. Love his calm authority over his obvious wealth of knowledge. His instructional clarity with simple language is superb.
This one of the absolute best golf lessons I’ve seen on UA-cam. I will definitely practice this method to become a better striker of the ball.
Jerome, back when I first started watching your adventure, I commented that your biggest problem was your mind getting in your way.
That was a year ago ..... low and behold .... guess what !
You have all the ability to be a great golfer, STOP MICROMANAGING, RELAX AND HIT THE SHOT.
lol you ask him the same question in 5 different ways and he's patient to answer each time
I feel like this was Dana's "breaking point" episode with Jerome. He has told him fifty million times to keep it simple. His patience with him has been nothing but GOLD.
The goal is to hit hooks and Jerome wants to hit perfect shots. He is totally attached to outcome, not learning the process. Dana is fantastic in refocusing him. Between Jerome and Brendan of Be Better Golf there are 2 people who don't live in the moment.
@davidedwards1405 maybe some Bob Rotella is in order😊
@@jorgeluisurbina9801 Do you know how much he is an hour lol
This quite possibly may be the best lesson I've seen on UA-cam. Ive applied the principles over the past 3 days and its solved several issues. One thing Jerome Keep It Simple!
I've never watched a youtube video longer than 10 mins. But I watched every minute of this since I struggle with this exact issue. All 49 minutes of this is worth more than I'll ever know. Dana is so articulate with every word and it just resonates with my long sought fix for my issues. And I'm a leftie. Thank you algorithm.
Me toooo 😊
this is my issue too and its so relieving knowing that when you start doing it basically right, youre not gonna hit it perfectly, i hope youre able to fix it over these next few weeks
LETS GO!! This again is pure gold. Thanks Jerome! and Thank you Dana!! Stay with the grind and trust the dojo master Dana, he is 100% giving solid pure gold. I hope to get a lesson with him as soon as my shoulder heals. I have been working on wedges and driver so much lately and I'm deep in the struggle right now. I've been using the pro-sender a lot and it has really helped with getting shaft lean and more rotation. Remember rotation still needs vertical extension like the toe to heel lead pushing force and getting taller through contact! I'm excited for the next video!
this is by far the greatest golf lesson video i have ever seen - excellent stuff jerome, and dana!
I figured this out on the range today before I watched this and It confirmed everything I was looking for. Unlocked rotation and shaft lean. This is a necessary in the golf swing. Thanks!
This video was absolutely everything Jerome!! Thank you so much for what you are doing. Thank you for giving back to the game by sharing this with us! You da man 🙏🫡
Hands-down the best lesson video I've seen. Simplify, set appropriate expectations, let outcomes drive process. Perfect.
I struggled with the same feels to get the wrists right and using The Hanger training aid was a light bulb moment for me. Instantly had better wrist conditions and then started rotating properly. Highly recommend that one.
Awesome coaching, giving reassurance not based off good or bad contact but good execution of drills. No wonder he’s known as the best!
Club face is king! 5 handicapper and I’m still working on this CONSTANTLY. Very hard for me to do with driver.
Same man... The driver is my nemesis as well. Some days it's good (not great impact wise, but always in the fairway), and some days it's giving me penalty drops. Im a 10 HDCP, and by eliminating my penalties off the tee box would easily drop me a few points
@@amac8487 absolutely, keeping the ball in play will take you from a 10 to a 6 quickly if you can do it consistently
This was the lesson I needed to watch. Ty for the content. Dana is the man
Great video! Exactly what I needed. Thank you for posting these
Thats the best tip it’s exactly what I have been working on keep left wrist down and turn
N
1 million times YES!! Watched twice, took to range with PW and 1 WD. Instant compression and divots that I've dreamed of for 30 years.I have always been a picker of the ball due to breakdown at impact. Still a decent golfer (12 handicap) regardless. But the explanation about squaring club face halfway down clicked and the body just does it's thing. Driver was a bit different, once I started playing with pacing I started striping it one after another. Best lesson I ever had! Thank you so much Dana!
This was a really great video for me. Keep working and improving. You're killing it!
this is all the kinda stuff i've been working on for the past several years. i really got a lot out of it, thnx.
Those are definitely the keys to ball striking. What's interesting is that you are coming full circle back to Mike Wydra's ONE DRILL video concerning the proper wrist delivery of the club into the ball (there's a punch shot in every golf shot). Mike does it differently because he drops down steeply in the downswing and then gets the wrists in the right position to get the natural draw and power produced by hands ahead, lead wrist in flexion. This shows that there is more than one way to get there but the effect through impact is the same. As Mike explained, these wrist positions get the hands ahead at impact, the club workting inside out, and the club descending into impact (for an iron), with the face squaring to the arc all through this one mechanism. It's pure magic for the golf swing! It is also one of the biggest keys to effortless power. I am very happy to see this coming into your swing, Jerome. Cheers.
More coaches are teaching the same things than you would think, just communicating it differently
Jerome! Canada's calling you out!!! I've been watching your videos when I first started golfing 6 months ago and everything that you've showed on this video I've been working on for the last month or so. I think I could take ya on a friendly stroke play challenge! If your ever in Vancouver let me know! Love your vids man. They've helped out so much over the last 6 months! Keep em coming!
The pearls of wisdom Dana was providing caused me to pause the video, head out to my yard, pull out a wedge and take a few (15) swings while focusing on keeping my left wrist (right handed golfer here) rotated left. Results: WOW!!!! Impact... AMAZING! Compression... AMAZING! Ease of swing... AMAZING!!! Distance with my wedge... HOLY MAC!!! ok, i'm subscribing right now.
Haha I do this every time I rewatch the lesson just so I don’t forget the feels haha
This video deals with the exact thing ive been thinking about with no concepts to apply. Great video
I really like your vids. I've been learning about the same amount of time as you and your vids are very educational. I like the very detailed lessons but also love hearing Moe Norman talk about the swing in it's simplest terms.
Thank you DANA!!! This is the most helpful teaching I’ve seen on wrists, rotation, and squaring the club face! After some practice I went out and shot -2 on the front 9! My lowest score ever on my home course! The back 9 was a work in progress but the gains were amazing! Thanks for sharing this content with us!
This video is SO Awesome! I've already been to the range to try it out and Dana's 2-step process works great!
Another banger! Also- petition to get Jerome more than 1 shirt, feel like we always see him wearing his blue outfit 😂
cant wait to get to the range and work on this, feel like my swing has improved lots lately, but getting height, pushing right and less distance. this really helps explain clearly where the wrists should be
❤ love this lesson so much. 1 thing is you ask the same questions I would and your brain is always thinking. Which Dana handles so well. Dana understands why u ask and that on 1 hand less thought is better but that giving you an answer or even just assurance would help your buy-in. ❤
Coach Dana makes this amazingly simple. He says to practice hitting it straight and hook it low drawing left. Obviously one can’t play that way. Implied that’s a drill and more to come.
Where does coach explain how to fix low hook? Is it just more lateral hip shift and turn hips more?
Sounded like he was gonna do a lesson on helping straighten this big hook out.
Cheers
-Brian
My first golf coach tried teaching me this it’s so hard too do but now with your explanation it’s pretty simple I’ll practice this
Being following you for almost a year when I start my golf last year, I got same deal like to where have too many swing thoughts, and i am having same issue of thinking of want to rotate but keep getting slice, even push slice, good content, can’t wait to try it out in range😊
This guy is a great coach wonderful clear explanations I also learned a lot
Excellent instruction from Dana - thanks sooo much
5 mins in. Pure gold. 🤯
Great video man! 👏
Love how the pro dumbed it down to 2 swing thoughts. ✅
This one lesson alone changed golf for me. Hitting effortless flush shots with my irons back to back to back, I’ve never done. Just need to keep up on the practice. Holy smokes! (12 years of golf, that wrist angle and not thinking about my hips did it) keep up the work and bidsy
Wow. That "Turning down" thing added 10 to 15 yards on my irons. Thanks for the content.
27:43 _"Pull the hook out with your pivot."_
I needed to hear that.
So glad I found this!!!
I am so glad I ran into this video. There is so much great info in your video. Thanks
Remarkable if you only knew how close you are but you still have to get there. You effort is tremendous and the courage is your talent so trust that because I think most of us can see how far you've come but the blind man never sees himself. If he did he still wouldn't even recognize it or more likely want to compare. Thank's for doing such a committed service and you find a tremendous source in Mr. Dan Dahlquist he's been so generous with sharing golf content for awhile with humility. Really hope you get a moment to just realize you can allow yourself to be a great ball striker, we won't mind.
Love the questions you ask keep em coming
What a great lesson. I really like this coach. You did great Jerome. I too agree that you are likely overthinking it…. Likely because it doesn’t “feel good”.
After watching this lesson, I went to the range and mimicked everything that was said. it sure feels foreign, and most all my balls were going left and low (exactly what he wanted). This obviously isn’t an ideal ball flight and not something that looks or feels good or can play good golf with, but it’s a stepping stone. I’ve realized you have to be uncomfortable in order to get comfortable in the correct position. Stick with the process! My compression has already improved , and will continue to practice these wrist angles until I don’t have to consciously think about it
totally agree, so many of these youtube instructors seem bent on making it as complicated as humanly possible and we take away zero from their expertise
Funny how I just picked this up a week ago and testing the theory behind the wrist and rotation. This solidify that I’m in the right path. Thanks for the video.
I have this issue and been trying to fix it recently. It helped a lot with hitting the ball straighter.
Oh, what I would give to have Dana in person giving me advice. You are very blessed Jerome.
Im building something in the hopes anyone can experience this as close to in person as possible :) stay tuned
@@JeromeRufin ok. I will trust you & hope it is my reality. Great job by you I might add
I was just focusing on my wrists today at the range! I wish i would i watched this first!! So helpful, keep grinding man!
There’s always tomorrow!
Love to see you play a round again and see the progress on course!
Excellent coaching right there.
Haven’t seen your channel in awhile you have gotten a lot better!
I wish I could like this a million time. Thank you so much for this
Hey man keep going im gonns break 80 this year! I can feel it. I found this the other day. I watch most videos keep it going
Definitely a video full of gold.
Thanx for sharing guys.
Fantastic training video with an awesome trainer. Your a good student and Dana is world class for sure.
Been working on this and this answers my questions
🙌🙌🙌
yo legit this is the best! such a good lesson!! thank you
dd very patient coach...luv him
He sure earned his money with this one.😉
He's a perfect match for Jerome. His patience is godlike and his biggest challenge is getting him to stay out of his own way. Great lesson and good simple (but advanced) stuff too.
Unbelievable video and instructions!
Thanks Jerome for sharing you have a lot of supporter♥
Best golf lesson ive ever had and i wasnt even there!!! STOP OVER THINKING IT!
Nice work on the video and your journey to correct your swing Jerome
Love it great teaching methods
Dana is a nice man and well-intentioned.
Loved the video!!
Wow Jerome, your game has come so far. Great swing! I like the explanation
my favorite golf channel on youtube now easily. you're the man, jerome. Dana's a cool mofo too. looking forward to more on-course action.
Dana has the patience of a saint to keep redirecting you when you won’t just listen to him and the point he’s trying to get across
it’s harder to comprehend in person when you’re trying to focus on a million different things, communicate, and perform.
i’ve taken many lessons with dana and watching on youtube vs being there in person is very different.
consider that.
@@sucalaminkawe’ve considered it , but , the coach keeps telling him he’s overthinking and Jerome keeps overthinking. Even when the coach tells him he’s hitting it correctly Jerome cant help adding his thoughts. Jeez !
love the coach
This is a great video
This may as well have been me having this lesson, exact same swing flaw and exact same problem trying to overthink and understand everything. Thanks for taking this lesson for us both 😂
Great lesson Jerome! Thank you! FINALLY you got new shoes!!!! I feel like your old ones were not doing your swing justice! Keep grinding!
40:00 Such good golf and life advice being dished out right here.
I think this left wrist thing is going to be the key to squaring the club face at impact and changing my overall game dramatically. Very important tip.
Thanks!
the left wrist (right wrist for lefties) / wrist roll emphasis before coming around and rotating through emphasis has helped me a lot with better shaft lean and contact giving more distance too
This is what I need to work on the most with my swing!
"You're not playing Shinnecock from the blacks". 🤣 I am working on same thing and am thrilled to have found this video. Brilliant. Thank you for posting!! Dana is a beast. Subbed.
Jerome, thank you very much for sharing this lesson. Tried these things out 2 days ago. It got to me in a few shots and I loved it. Took it to the course yesterday and it worked great. Been struggling with the swing for the past thee weeks but yesterday was great with this tecnique. Subbed man. /QboT
Kinda frustrating to watch the coach simplify things as much as possible, and Jerome trying to make it as complicated as possible.
This is true in most golf lessons. The student is mentally going through a list of reasons why it won't work the way the teacher is explaining it. It's hard to let go .
He’s just trying to understand the mechanics so he can adjust to the new form. It’s frustrating how couching don’t understand this. This is what makes a good coach from a bad one.
Solid gold level 10!
I’d be interested in what your thoughts were of the STOW STICK golf accessory…. It sure has made a difference in my putting movements…. The resistance band also helped out in keeping my hands out of my game… “Thank You” for your for your well explained video..
dude! congratulations!
honestly, big thanks to you and Mike Wydra and the driver video you did with him. I had a eureka moment about allowing the hands move further ahead at impact. it's really helped my game. I had a wrong mental image of keeping the hands back to promote hitting up on the ball. I see some similar ideas here in this video and am glad it's clearing up some of your issues with the hips and the hands. you're not the only one.
Amazing
Dana might have explained better for you to understand, but this whole idea was already there in your first "HOF" coach Mike's lessons, but you didn't know enough to understand it at the time. And Dana fixed the swing mechanics things before you get to this point. From the beginning, there is no "hand flipping" thing as you called it back then. Active releasing is impossible to be consistent with. It happens because of the centrifugal force when you rotate.
Good point, its like learning things have to hit you multiple times before it starts to make sense. Could you link that first vid your talking about?
Hard to break bad habits you learn on your own that feel natural
ua-cam.com/video/ML1Aao05Dlw/v-deo.htmlsi=VEIXFQUDqsv9GcOv&t=339
Omg! On my own journey I feel like I’m doing the same things I was doing when I first started but because I didn’t have a full understanding of everything I couldn’t put everything together. In this video Dana is talking about bowing the wrist (there is a better term but I forgot it) and I was already doing that but I stopped doing it because I thought I wasn’t supposed to. Now that I have a freer swing and my timing is correct I guess I can go back to the wrist bend and continue working on getting my lead hip back and rotated.
Golf is frustrating as Shit! But when you go from hitting your 7 iron 145 to 160 and the occasional 170…it gets addicting.
You’re absolutely right. I even found the video from 9 months ago with his old swing coach giving the same instruction. Funny that Jerome is wearing the same shirt in both videos. I like Dana’s teaching style more because he focuses Jerome on the correct inputs, even when Jerome wants to detract with new swing thoughts. Keep it simple.
ua-cam.com/video/Hjhm5ZzKQrw/v-deo.htmlsi=qB2iQGGKohmwUoTE
what about the ball height and tee indicators like how deep or high should it be when it comes to drivers?
High handicapper trying to grasp this…so you are in a fixed wrist position from a certain point on the trail side through ball contact like in a punch shot? Also does Dana recommend flat lie angles on irons?
Great videos! One suggestion: can you use 1 line at the bottom for your transition comments? T full list blocks the video.
Looking so much better, your not stuck anymore.
I can't watch these often because you don't just listen and enact, you always have to question and suggest, just do what the man says.
questioning is good. he should ask as many as he needs too. he’s been getting way better. he listens too. his brain is different then yours he comprehends his own way. don’t watch then.
I don’t think alot of people realize how hard it is to get your body to do things your brain thinks it’s doing. That’s why the real vs feel thing is so true.
hes learning the best way, ask a million questions. He cares and coaches see that.
JR, simple feel for me. At the top, maintain wrist structure and just extend the right elbow towards the camera as you turn. Will turn the face down to where Dana wants it and your pivot will keep the flex in your wrists. Dont try do it in the wrists itself. It’ll happen. 🙌🏻
Great video but what iron are you hitting .
Everybody learns differently. Some people need all that technical info so that they can understand conceptually what they're trying to do.
That was so good we should send you some money towards the lesson!
