    We put the Rypstick golf swing speed training aid to the test for 30 days to see if we improved our swing speed and the results were shocking! After doing just Level 1 of the Rypstick training system we saw gains in clubhead speed, ball speed, and carry distance. In this video we walk you through our entire process with the Rypstick golf swing speed training system including establishing a baseline clubhead speed, and completing the golf swing speed training exercises for 30 days to see how we improve.

    From someone who does long drive themselves you guys should try overtraining. Basically it means swing as hard as possible (not caring where the ball goes) for 5-10 swings, then make some normal gamer swing and see what the speed is at. It’ll help making the normal swings feel in control but still will naturally be faster then what you are used to. Helped me a lot personally. Cruising in the 185s this year

    Great video and awesome speed improvement. I say you guys keep showing the progression and what is come in the next levels of the training. Would love to see what the “max” numbers would look like after the whole training process. Especially with winter coming , it would be a great series to follow. I know you guys made me buy one and start it. With your code of course!!! Keep up the grind gents. Proud of you both.

    Man what a sick video fellas! Not making us wait for updates over an entire month. Just posting it all in one video. Love it! I've gotta say whoever did Frank's driver fitting did a spectacular job. He's getting everything he can distance-wise with that swing speed. If we could get Mike's contact more consistent, he's getting three bills every drive.

    my main warmup club while competeing on WLD back in the day was a 50" steel shaft (chest putter I believe) with a 460cc head filled with cement that my LD coach made for me. It did exactly what you want it to do but it was brutal. If this is similar to that in a smaller package, I may be interested tbh.

      So I on a golf driving range can hit a ball about 240 to 280 yards carry. My problem is the my height of the ball can sometimes be abnormally high. Point being that dude number one has a shitty technique but muscles through it relative to the other guy.

      I’d say it’s possible, but also probably due to a few factors. First thing I noticed is he has a natural draw bias which tends to go further. Also possible he’s got his spin rate at the right speed along with attack angle and ball striking dialed in. I’m well below an average golfer for consistency and on my first Trackman session my highest (and best strike) was 234.4yds at 97mph and 3394spin as a fade. I’m sure if I could draw it, hit it pure and lower my spin I’d be up in the 250s? Elevation here is 750’ 🤷

    I don't want to be a killjoy here but you can get the same result from doing crunches on an ab-roller for 30 days without the danger of hurting yourself and you'll have a stronger faster core. Basically, 30 days of speed training is just strengthening their core. Yes, there is danger in speed training. People hurt themselves doing speed training and I happen to know someone who did and now, years later, he can't even play golf. By strengthening the core, I know it's not fun, but you'll gain speed the safe way.

      I figure this is a good place to update...I'm one week into the 2nd training mod. I averaged all of my baselines for the first mod. (minus the 1st one, which was 96MPH) My average baseline tests for the entire 1st training mod was 104.8 MPH. Top swing speed of 113. The one thing I did notice that really surprised me is my floor has also been raised quite a bit.... It's been a couple weeks since I swung it slower than 103 MPH on the baseline tests. My last 4 baselines were 2 at 106 and 2 at 107. Just for reference, @ 96mph I was living in the 220s-230s yd drives most of the time. AT 105 mph, I should be living in the 250s if not better pretty consistantly. So far that looks like 30 yds at minimum....I'll update after the end of 2nd mod if that's ok with you guys

      Update...i just finished the 2nd level. I have definitely hit a plateau. I haven't set any new PB, but I consistantly swinging between 103 and 110 during my baseline tests. All 11 of my level 2 baseline test were between 106mph and 108 mph. My average swing speed for level 2 was 106.5 MPH. So through the first 2 levels my original 96 mph has increased to 105.6 mph. I recently went to an indoor simulator that gives all the numbers you could want, just to see if the RYSTICK radar was acurate. I didn't record anything, but my swing speed was fairly consistant at around 103 MPH swinging my driver and hitting a real ball as opposed to strictly swinging the RYPSTICK. A lot of my drives were 250 yds and up. I also really noticed my ball speed increased. From the 130s on a good hit originally to now high 140s and 150s all the time. I'll update again when I finish level 3.

      @@ericbarwald2795Great to see the training paying off for you Eric. I myself have plateau'd as well after the extra 10mph gain, the extra 1mph increments are definitely getting much harder to achieve. I'm not going through any specific training plan just weight training and swinging a speed stick like a mad man daily. Averaging about 111mph on the course which is a nice feeling after a month and a half of training.

  • @JonSmith-c6d
    @JonSmith-c6d 10 місяців тому +1

    Mike. You seriously need a driver fitting. Your carries on you base line swings speeds are way off what you should be getting for those swing speed (you were using the club head and not the handle to hit the ball, right?).
    Therefore you are going to show big distance increases through any form of practice that gets you hitting with a better smash factor. The video is well made and fun to watch but a total misrepresentation with regards to speed (or more correctly over speed) training. You swing plenty fast to play good golf. Why risk injury when you would be much better off practicing short game to lower scores. Unless you just want to bomb it and in that case do long drive.

  • @discr1709
    @discr1709 10 місяців тому

    “As a rough approximation, every mile per hour extra of ball speed equates to two extra yards of carry.” So, Mike’s 5 extra MPH should only translate to 10-12 yards more distance (physics), which means his gains are more attributable to other variables like smash factor and spin rate, etc.

    If you are swinging your club head at 114 mph and averaging about 260 yards it's a sign that your smash factor is not that good. With a solid hit and a proper launch of the ball you should be hitting about 290-300 with that speed. You would do better working on club face contact rather than trying to gain speed.

    From a data perspective, the baseline should have included the same regiment but simply using a normal club such as a 7 iron. The delta would then reflect a more accurate picture of that particular speed training tool. I would argue that a good deal of the progress was due to the consistency of the training not simply the tool. 🤔

    • @stephenharris2495
      @stephenharris2495 9 місяців тому

      Why would 7i be any different? If Driver swing speed increased then so would 7i - not the same # but appropriate ratio.
      In the end it proves that focusing on pushing swing speed will result in gains.
      We have 60+ years of research in under and over load training (I believe Sasha noted in the 1940s but I could be wrong)
      Could argue having the guys do 2 weeks of just fast swings with driver at end of a session to see progress then start program, but results wouldn’t be as impressive in just 30 days.

      I started SuperSpeed in the low 120s with the intent of getting into Long Drive. Coupled with weight training I reached a peak club head speed (nowhere near usable) of 137.xMPH in months. Best ball speed went from 180 to 197. Could get balls into the 190s with a decent regularity but lived in the 180s on the golf course.
      I believe weight training is important if you’re seriously looking to get fast. Not just because it WILL make you faster, but you need to prepare your body for the stresses. I don’t believe you can prevent injury, but you can reduce your risk and getting your body ready to deal with those forces is crucial.
      The quick gains can be had speed training only. And they will be impressive on their own! But just remember if you don’t use it, you lose it. Which is where I am today. Basically back where I started just with a better golf swing 😅. Road to 205mph has already begun though. Back in the gym and back swinging.

    Dang 149-153 ball speed off high 90s swing speed is really impressive. You’re hitting it on the nuts!! What compression ball do you play?

    How is it the 97 mph hits farther than the 110 mine is 97 and not even close to those numbers?

    • @Golficity
      @Golficity  6 місяців тому

      Club head speed is just one component of distance. Other things like launch angle, smash factor, etc all contribute to the overall efficiency of the swing. So it’s totally possible to have the same swing speed but different distance numbers.

    Gosh I hadn’t swang a club in 20 years and went to top golf 1st time and highest ball speed was 146. I hit about 5000 range balls in one month and I’m now averaging 168 ball speed with range balls on the top tracer ranges. Crazy how much faster and the bombs I can hit now. Now I just need to test with premium golf balls I’m guessing 175-185 balls speeds! That’s nuts and I’m 5’7 185

    FYI for anyone using those little club head speed radars. They pick up the toe, which generally moves about 5% faster than the middle of the face, which is what Trackman measures. So 105 on one of those radars is about 100 on TM. However, if you make contact around the perimeter the face (especially the toe or heel), this twists the club head open or closed very quickly and can result in readings that are way off. Best to throw out any bad contact numbers. Don’t need to worry about that with Trackman because it measures CHS juuust before impact.

    Take out the baseline 203 yard shot for Mike. It’s an outlier and it skews his supposed total gains by nearly 10 yards. That and your “N” is so small it’s statistically meaningless.

    I love the test, but the numbers don’t jibe. 100 mph will carry 235 with perfect launch conditions. The good thing is you can measure the difference even if the numbers aren’t accurate. Great job!

    • @sdave33
      @sdave33 8 місяців тому

      No way. 100mph should carry 250 if your driver/shaft are fit right and you hit the sweet spot.
      If you are swinging 100 and only carry 235 then it’s time to get re-fit or time take a little off because you are missing the center.
      It’s 2.5 yards per MPH. Not 2.35. If it was 2.35 no one on tour would carry 300.

  • @barrycole5930

    Not sure i trust this radar, its so cheap (stick price vs stick + radar is only £70 diff) it clearly isnt reading right. E.g. the second guy (obviously im not a regular viewer just looking around for swing speed products) on first swing after 30 days the radar said 100mph but the ball speed (which i trust as the rapsodo is very accurate on that) said 155. You cant get a 1.55 smash factor so that club speed must have been closer to 105 assuming your smash was about 1.48. That 112 swing was never accurate, +12mph? No way not even if you “went for it”. Then 100 again with another 155 ball speed. The last 2 seemed more realistic for your ball speeds and distances.
    Seen other reviews saying the radar is inconsistent, and based on those 5 shots alone it seems to be true. Ill pass even with the discount code. Awesome video though, i just think some scrutiny of the results (maybe an accuracy test vs another radar) could be more beneficial to viewers. Still thumbs up for the content.

    Forget about control now. What Hogan said in Power Golf is still accurate. Someone beginning to play should just try to kill it and worry about accuracy later. He didn’t necessarily have the science behind it, but you have to get out of your comfort zone zone by swinging faster.
