Not me.ever shoot one. The romantic squeezer gets old after a mag or 2 of 8 rounds was it. Then the hi capacity brick that followed. Never could figure out the allure of these German made POS...... Just rotton. Walther has all ways made better handguns. Maby not heavy as tanks and 15 pound trigger pulls but I own many walthers and never a single h k. It ain't the over priced was either. At half the price of an h k your still buying a German made hi point. Oops the higher point is lighter! Lol

It's extremely expensive and if, God forbid, you're involved in a self-defense incident, I guarantee you will be forced to surrender it to law enforcement. The Bavarian State Police have the HK P7 M8 as sidearm from 1979 -2017. Then the Police Authority couldn‘t get any spare parts for repair and changed to HK SFP 9 TR. The P7 is a quality pistol of its own, so every remake have to meet that quality. The price tag of that Texan Pistol isn‘t cheap, but good quality have a expensiv price tag. It will become interesting, to see other calibers like .40S&W (P7 M10) 357 SiG or .45 ACP or .38 Super.

Chief thought it was a toy till He shot it, was impressed with it, but chocked when heard price. HK came out with "m13" version later, just didn't have the money to get one. Then Dept went to issued firearms (Glocks) - that was a few decades ago.

Thank you for this video. It's interesting to learn that the PSP / P7M8 is back.
But this pistol has an achille's heel: the squeeze cocking mechanism is quite complex and it depends on a few small springs for its working. When used regularly, these springs break once or twice a year, which makes the pistol useless. Having a stock of these springs help to shorten the "interruption of service" but it is still there.

Take note of how Ian McCollum does his videos. Don't hold the gun and fidget around with it. Leave the gun stationary and add an edit when you need to change the position of the gun. The auto focus is causing parts of the gun to go out of focus everytime you fidget around with the gun.

They actually went backwards in the design. Its missing plastic heat guard inside the the front of the trigger guard. During rapid fire strings the P7 was known to transfer heat from the gas piston thru the frame and into the front of the trigger.

    • @sxs2950

Here's the problem... HKPro is not any cheaper than a used P7. They start at $2500 and that is with an Aluminum frame.
A steel frame is $100 more, Titanium is $600 more. Check a couple of option boxes on the slide and it quickly eclipses $3000.

Too Much, Won't Sell. To many other pistols Better than the P7 that cost 1/3 the price. A Colt Python is cheaper than that.

Yes there are definitely other pistols out there that are better such as a Glock ( lighter, higher capacity, blah, blah, blah) Now a criminal manages to get your P7 away from you and then tries to shoot you with it, but doesn't know how it works. If you carry a Glock do you think the criminal will be able to figure out how to pull the trigger.

This is going to fail big time. If this was under 1K sure, P7s are cool AF. why not have an accessable clone? This is 3k for just the plain vanilla version. If you have that kind of money you can just spend a little more and buy an original that will increase in value. What were they thinking? If they can get the price down by building their own slides then maybe theyd sell... Maybe.

Pro tip; explain what you're talking about for people who aren't familiar with this pistol. Caliber, capacity, specs, operation, and don't sound so out of breath.

Thanks, I don't have much time for this so I usually do only one take. I will work on doing better videos. Since it was the P7 series I just assumed that everyone already knew the basics, I need to remember not everyone is familiar with the P7 series

They're quite the greedy ripoff company.....$2400 and up is absurd....just buy and Archon B and have a much flatter shooting gun. So sick of greed and drama in the gun crowd

When you get some free time take a gun part to a manufacturers trade show. Talk to some of the companies and see what it costs to manufacture one part. You will be rather surprised, most companies won't want to touch a gun part, the ones that do will have to be registered with ITAR. Next you will need to have the blueprints. Since you don't have them, they will have to be reverse engineered. Once it is manufactured, the part will have to be blued or coated, plated..... Next you will have to do the same for 75 other parts then create jigs and purchase machinery to assemble the firearm. Once the firearm is sold you have to pay the ATF 10% of the sale price, yeah $240 is going to Uncle Sam (Excise Tax). Don't forget about building rent and insurance so if someone like you shoots themselves in the foot and decides to sue. Starting a firearms company is an uphill battle and there are a lot of costs that need to be covered, it is amazing that anyone is building a boutique firearm. By the way the titanium P7 sold out immediately so many buyers felt differently than you.

Even a real factory p7 may be worth that kind of money as a collector gun I would never buy one. I passed on a couple back in the mid 90s. They were less than a grand then but spendy for that time. Still not near as over priced as they are now. I also passed on the first polymer pistol made by h k back in the 70 I think again it was sub 1000 dollars high but nowhere near as over priced as they are now. That think looked like a buck Rodgers gun. 18 rounds of 9 mm. The hardest, crummiest trigger ever. I mean the worst ever. That gun is still on sale for like 2 large and has been unsold for these past 28 years.
The p7 squeezers have pretty bad triggers too. Back in late 90 they were still plentiful but again really a bad trigger. Plenty of n j hiway patrol surplus available back then. Jest never could get past the Arnold swatzenegger grip strength needed to operate h k pistols. All ways over priced all ways bad heavy triggers.

...the infamous HK VP70 is the pistol to which you refer. I have one and the trigger will remind you of a staple gun! Indeed the worst trigger ever intalled in a handgun.
