There is a secret and a different way to get to gm in archon mode without playing in it. You need to be 3600 mmr with 1 game in the mode and you need to play 30 games in 2v2 with the same person to be promoted. Actually I am the person behinde this with some other people and wintrading for no reason is not a real reason why I do and they do this. I would love people to comeback but that wouldnt happen beacuse most people have no idea about the archon mode and they dont want to play in it. I could boost anybody but I dont want to do it for a real reason. I want the mode to be normal like it was before and thats it... We cant do anything to promote archon mode and thats quite sad but it is like it is... Archon GM was always a joke and everybody can be there so thats doesnt matter who is there and what they do.
This is exactly how its done in heroes of the storm. You dont even need a separate computer as the designers allow you to run multiple instances of the game.
You’re correct. Archon mode has always been considered a joke since its inception. No one ever cared about it, including the players. Anything other than 1v1 ladder was considered a side game and not taken seriously. Now that Blizzard is dead and they abandoned the game before they died, I doubt anyone will ever even notice. I’m surprised you even bothered to make a video about it, but you mentioned interest in the mode, so I guess that explains it. Sadly, there’s no hope 😢
idk man. It was never a joke to me. I genuinely love the mode. I don't understand why its been so rejected by the community. I think not being able to queue up alone really hurts the player base for it.
I've just seen some pro gamers playing for fun in archon (Serral, Reynor, Clem, Harstem, Spirit...) and a few time Harstem organised some fun games called "changeling" but I've never heard anything about the archon ladder
Archon modes sick, i love the idea of it. And i think its particularly strong for helping newer friends try to catch up to your skill on a particular skill, macro/micro, coz they can afford to focus on it, while you do the other thing. I dont blame the player base for it being unpopular tho. We just wanna play 1v1, thats the "real game" everything else is niche.
Me and a friend of mine used to play lots of archon mode. but we have up because queue times were not reasonable. It sad but as you said its not getting any better...
potentially advertisement within the game can make it better. Have people that never tried the mode (or tried it and seem to like it) get a popup whenever someone searches for the game for within that mode. This way you can give popups only to players that are similar level reduce wait times and maybe improve satisfaction. This is because maybe they want to play archon mode but dont remember about it or dont want to deal with long queues. If this doesnt work you can give small rewards for players that choose to play the mode when another team is searching. (like potraits? or something small and can be progressive portraits as the more requests you accept) This would be beneficial for everyone and is pretty simple to code up.
really what the mode needs first and foremost ist the ability to queue up without a party in the first place. Its such a stupid restriction that makes no sense. If you needed a group of 4 people to queue up for 4v4, the mode would be just as dead.
@@skipp3252Yes true. It's hard to find a real life friend who plays Starcraft 2 or wants to give it a try. Most of my friends who played Starcraft 2 have basically stopped. If I could team with a random guy, maybe have a vocal chat ingale, I would probably trie but here it's pretty annoying to find a mate.
Ok you need to create a discord or something like that where people can find a mate if they are alone and teams can settle rendez-vous to find a game in less than 30 years.
Sad because this game mode had so much potential. Two pros: one Macroing and one Microing? It just got absolutely no support and the avid fans only care about 1v1.
This is what I and a friend experienced with the FFA mode that existed during Wings of Liberty and the beginning of Heart of the Swarm. People were just trading games, always matching against one another and only a few people actually playing. (Also the same people would just team up to defeat the other players in the match) Its sadly whats always happening with unpopular game modes.
This sounds like how I got to master rank with my brother in 2s in like 4 games. We got placed gold and won the match; promoted to plat. We played another match and won; promoted to diamond. We played another match and won; promoted to Master. We checked the match history, our opponents were silver/gold in all of those games.
Archon mode unfortunately got a pretty bad rep among the starcraft player base. I don't know why, I love it. But after it being highly anticipated people just didn't like it. Thats pretty much the end of the story. Although I think there would still be enough players that do like it, who would keep the mode alive. Unfortunately starcraft is a 1v1 game and the average starcraft player isnt gonna go online with friends very often (I would think). So making it a requirement for the mode to be in a party of 2 is what truly killed it imo. I don't understand why they did it. Its a dumb decision. I understand that playing with a random person in your team has the potential of being trolled. But this really doesnt work as a reason. Because if you are worried about being trolled, just don't queue up alone? Why would that be a reason for the game itself to disallow it for the people that do want to take that risk?? If anything the game should promote working together with random people by maybe getting them to join in voice chat. Getting into voice coms with random gamers across the world to work together to win a game has made for some of the most memorable moments in gaming for me personally. But as it is, even though I really want to play archon mode, I physically can not do it, because I don't have a friend in my party... Realistically though, if you want to play and have fun in Archon mode in 2024 you can do it. You just have to go on reddit or a discord server and find people to set up a match from outside the game.
Archon mode is such a fun game, is a shame is un popular...
Some of the best high level games I've ever played has been Archon mode with GM's/High level masters

I vaguely remember a lot of people being really excited by it, loving it for a week, then never having a need to play it again.

I feel like the main reason people would even consider playing it is for the gm banner ,

I would love to see FFA mode come back. When I look at other RTS. games, some of the most fun can be had in free for all.

i cried when they removed FFA. im gonna miss archon

I have done this in team games with another account, the other account leaves and i rush with double the income.. sooooooooo much fun
I think we should be able to play Archon with randoms
I used to play archon mode with the top koreans in the world
