Could the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo be a car for me? There's something very special about a really fast estate, especially when it packs the punch that this does. Join me for a walkaround and test drive to see what it's like.
This is my dream car right now beating out a GT3 RS and a targa 4s (my close 2nd and 3rd) but only because of its practicality, you're gonna have to get it!
My guess is that you will wait for a reasonably priced V12 GTC4 Lusso. I think you miss the sound of that engine too much. But I might be wrong. Panamera is a great option too.
The Hybrid version might have 130hp more, but it also weighs a shade under 400kgs more, which goes a long way to offsetting that extra power, as well as having a negative impact on handling, braking and luggage capacity. I'd stick with the standard turbo and if need be take it to an acceptable tuner if the need (want) for more power arose. In fact the hybrid only has 10kw per ton more than the standard car so that's not great. (198kw/ton vs 208kw/ton)
You are not taking in consideration the most important thing with an expensive daily driver... TAXES.. Basically you would get the whole extra equipment and electrical power for free after a couple of years.. and still have a higher resale value than the lesser version.
I'm the opposite. I feel like the gtc4lusso isn't worth it as a 'daily', as beautiful as the car is. The less Tim spends on a daily, the more he can on other cooler cars
I‘d love a Panamera Turbo added to your garage! Personally I don‘t like the sport tourismo though 😉 And it needs black wheels for sure... I don‘t understand anyone not speccing black wheels. It is one of the cheapest details that make the car look ALOT more sporty
Is auto start/stop really a good idea on a turbo car? If you have been pushing it hard and then come into town for a long stop light, aren't you just cooking the oil on the turbo bearings?
that’s the spec to go for, although black wheels and gloss black aero kit is an absolute must so is the titanium black sports exhaust system, cream interior and carbon everywhere also pretty much every option possible😉
Is the 680hp of the hybrid peak or combined power??...... so is the motor used to torque fill the combustion engine effectively never seeing the full 680hp of the two at the same time or is the electric motor going through the gear box effectively keeping the electric motor in it's sweet spot making the two motors peak output at the same time?? What i'm trying to say is if you dyno'd the e-hybrid would you get the similar power (Peak) as the V8 Sport just with much better low-mid range power??
Thanks for the review! If one was comparing a preowned FF vs. this car (and ignoring the newer electronic gadgetry available on the Porsche), what would you say are the relative strengths and drawbacks?
Your face tells the story. You don't look as excited as you did in the Lusso. Just wait until you find that Lusso at a smart used price. Great channel as always.
In my point of view the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is the most beautiful and sporty estate you can purchase on the market!! The inside-concept seems to be very versatile for such a sports car! Why not ? The silhouette looks so elegant and sharp 😘 In my opinion the Sport Turismo GTS is the best version of the Panamera when the car is available 😍 And yes, it is the perfect car for you SHMEE :)
I think this is a really cool car, but although very different to your upcoming gt3 which is amazing btw, i think having two porches may spoil that special appeal you have of having a car each of a different brand (excluding any focus rs's) the ff is a hard act to follow, and i know you've said ferraris are expensive, but just seeing how much fun you've had in them previously and especially the ff when you came back to it after a while. the v12 is something else. the gtc4 looks ace, but maybe wait to see if there are any special editions?. anyway thanks again for the great content Tim :)
Before people start to go crazy in the comments about the wheels, if you actuallty listen to what Tim says its just the winter tires, the summer tires are the 20s sport wheels
Hi Tim. Out of curiosity, when you're travelling somewhere, you always use the navigation system on your phone and not the built-in one in the cars. Is there any reason for this?
Hi Shmee, Just wondering if you recommend going to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart and doing the Porsche Drive. Taking a trip to Stuttgart in a few months. Any recommendations for good areas to drive around there?
This is one car that has never excited me, even though I love Porsche’s. I don’t know what it is but there’s just something about the Panamera. Nice video though, as always.
I feel like it would be a great replacement for the FF. I think you should buy this one first and then save up for the GTC4 lusso or wait until they drop in price.
Little sidenote at 9:05 . In Germany you don't touch the lever of your indicator at all if you driving into a roundabout. Only when driving out of it.;-)
Daniël Willems Actually in Germany it's illegal to do it. That's why I wanted to let him know that. I mean nobody will ever complain about that. But it's just forbidden here.
Great video. Tim, do you ever feel the need for a jack of all trades car? Seats 4, enough space for travel bags, drives like a GT3, can also be used as a daily driver. Can't seem to find that car.
Hey Tim, awesome video! The Panamera is one of my favorite cars, especially as the Sport Turismo. One more thing from a very German guy haha ;) - if you come to a roundabout in Germany, then you won‘t turn on your indicators before. You just drive and then set the right indicator right before leaving to tell everyone that you will leave the roundabout in the upcoming exit:) no offence! Just a friendly tip after seeing the scene at 9:05 I really appreciate to see you enjoying Germany :)
An excellent and very thorough review. I would be interested in knowing the price as configured. Also, how does the all-wheel drive compare to the Audi Quattro system? Thanks!
I would of thought the average person would be on a high with the GT3 My goodness Tim most folk don’t ever get to even drive a GT3.. But the panamera is gorgeous
i think that will be a great choice for gumball rally for example and others like it because of the space for the crew and luggage and the power will be great i think for this purpose!!
Unrelated to this video Shmee however on your website, would you ever think about doing a blog style review? For instance after your videos doing a manual write-up, or would you use something like Drivetribe for that?
DriveTribe is used for this. Make sure to follow my Tribe on DriveTribe. My team does monthly blog style reviews of all kind of cars and car related products.
This car is a great companion for the 911 gt3. Not the first Porsche purchase but the second. Not that I'm against having a Panamera sport turbo Turismo as my only car for a substantial discount. I am poor after all. hahaha
Shmee , great video as well , the panamera is a great car for you , but if you think about it , you have a lot of v8 cars , so if i were you i would go for the gt4lusso instead , i know it is significantly more expensive, but there is something about the N/A Ferrari V12 , you know
I'm a big Porsche fan, and I am very fond of their brilliant designs and engineering soultions. The design of this Panamera however, doesn't compare with the beauty of most Porsche models. There's something about the design that makes it feel outdated. It's probably brilliant to drive, but designwise, Porsche could have done a better job in my opinion.
As the recent owner of a CLS i would say if you are happy with your car spending 50% of it's life in the dealer's workshop go ahead. The least reliable car i have ever owned. FIVE broken suspension arms, BOTH front electric window motors failed, the automatic gearbox completely failing on a three year old car...etc etc etc. An complete and utter joke. Plus of course the dealerships do their best at every opportunity to actually make Porsche look cheap and reasonable....but i guess people don't realise how bad they are until they experience it for themselves.
JP Perfomance brought me here. You should definitely do more together! :) Soundwise: Isn't it coming with a flap for sound control? Also in Sport or Sport+ mode it should forward some extra engine sound into to cockpit. Also the rear wheel steering would be interesting to see.
have you ever considered the Alpina B5 estate, a rare beast. Also would be great to see you do a video at Alpina. They've had a relationship with BMW for years but more luxury + performance than BMWs M division. ps really enjoy your videos
#Shquad :) Not really looked at these much in the past but having watched this, I actually quite like it. Would seem a very practical daily driver :) Thanks Tim :D
If I had the Money , I would buy myself this Car , with the strongest Engine and Full Option .Its such a Beauty to me .. This was a video I was waiting for woohoo! And I think perhaps it is a car for you. I mean you can use it to transport a lot of things. It's pretty nippy and does the job greatly. But if you was to get one would you get it in blue and with those wheels?

Shmee150 I love it 🏁
Shmee150 no plz don’t get it you need a screaming v12 ferrari
Shmee150 Get the hybrid! It’s my dream car 👌🏻
The Sport Turismo is what the Panamera should have always been. It's damn good looking.
This is my dream car right now beating out a GT3 RS and a targa 4s (my close 2nd and 3rd) but only because of its practicality, you're gonna have to get it!
Beautiful exterior, great interior and outstanding performance. Just Porsche.. 🔥
In a nutshell
My guess is that you will wait for a reasonably priced V12 GTC4 Lusso. I think you miss the sound of that engine too much. But I might be wrong. Panamera is a great option too.
You were right lol

Shmee I don't say that Porsche Panamera sport turismo is not good it's a very good car but I just want to see you driving that v12 symphony gtc4lusso
There is something about an NA V12, but it also carries a significantly higher price tag
I'm the opposite. I feel like the gtc4lusso isn't worth it as a 'daily', as beautiful as the car is. The less Tim spends on a daily, the more he can on other cooler cars
Shmee150 yaa you are right
Mazen Atif yaa your point is right
Shmee150 shmee please do another video on Koenigsegg factory I want to see it badly and when is your where's shmee tour happening
Thanks Tim! you helped with knowing about the hatch end of this car!!! Cheers to you too!!!
The best looking panamera by far
They definitely did very well in that department
Just gorgeous!
I‘d love a Panamera Turbo added to your garage!
Personally I don‘t like the sport tourismo though 😉 And it needs black wheels for sure... I don‘t understand anyone not speccing black wheels. It is one of the cheapest details that make the car look ALOT more sporty
100 pc agree. i prefer the regular back - I dont understand why pple like the humpback old station wagon look of the Tourismo??
Gear looking car. Bear in mind it’s probably half the price of a GTC4 it’s a great ‘practical’ car. Think it would be a great addition to your fleet.
Everything other than them wheels! 😂 one of my favourite cars. Love the content Shmee.
Definitely need to ask somebody from Porsche to know the answer to that one.
It’s combined power. Apart they’d produce even more. The Turbo S is way, way faster than the Turbo.
The electric motor is inside the gearbox casing.
For sure get this car if you aren’t going to get the gtc4 lusso. Porsche have done a great job with this sport turismo it looks epic!!
Thanks for the review! If one was comparing a preowned FF vs. this car (and ignoring the newer electronic gadgetry available on the Porsche), what would you say are the relative strengths and drawbacks?
Another great and informative video. Fantastic
@Shmee150 do you prefer the sport Turismo turbo or the Mercedes s63amg,, you just seem Abit more excited in the mercedes
Your face tells the story. You don't look as excited as you did in the Lusso. Just wait until you find that Lusso at a smart used price. Great channel as always.
I don't just want to hear your opinions and some driving footage, I want to hear the car. The Porsche V8's sounds amazing, yet no one seems to notice.
In my point of view the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is the most beautiful and sporty estate you can purchase on the market!! The inside-concept seems to be very versatile for such a sports car! Why not ? The silhouette looks so elegant and sharp 😘 In my opinion the Sport Turismo GTS is the best version of the Panamera when the car is available 😍
And yes, it is the perfect car for you SHMEE :)
It looks like a very good car but I can't help thinking that a lot of that tech is just unnecessary and won't get used. Great video Tim!
That navigation was loading forever!
Legends says its still loading
I think we have to be fair, i haven't seen any car that didn't take some time to start navigation/telephone functions after starting the car up.
I thought these car were using cellular network. My A4 takes 3 sec
After you get in your car and start it it only take 3 seconds and everything has started and loaded? That's quick i have to admit!
2sec for mmi and 3sec for gps
is it just me, or does everyone love the stitching over the binnacle?! #smallthings
Before people start to go crazy in the comments about the wheels, if you actuallty listen to what Tim says its just the winter tires, the summer tires are the 20s sport wheels
In a different colour and without those style winter wheels on it, perfect.
Hi Tim. Out of curiosity, when you're travelling somewhere, you always use the navigation system on your phone and not the built-in one in the cars. Is there any reason for this?
Yes, I explained this before. Waze on my phone works better than any onboard system
The ride seems to playing havoc with your camera mounts. Is it very firm?
@Shmee150 i think the diesel one still has a 4.0 V8, are you sure its a v6? cheers
Yes Thank God I will buy one for myself
Fantastic video and review!!!
Hi Shmee, Just wondering if you recommend going to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart and doing the Porsche Drive. Taking a trip to Stuttgart in a few months. Any recommendations for good areas to drive around there?
Drive to Meilenwerk and drive on the autobahn of course :)
Thanks. Any specific good stretch of road on the autobahn without speed cameras/speed limits?
This is one car that has never excited me, even though I love Porsche’s. I don’t know what it is but there’s just something about the Panamera. Nice video though, as always.
I feel like it would be a great replacement for the FF. I think you should buy this one first and then save up for the GTC4 lusso or wait until they drop in price.
This car is amazing. But Tim should do a comparison with this and the V8 GT4Lusso! Great video.
Second... Panamera is a beast
Buy it!!!
If only if had the retractable rear spoiler of the panamera turbo. Transformer fan here😀
This as a 4S diesel! Ahhh man perfect car to hunt down Autobahn miles!
You must own this car!
Little sidenote at 9:05 . In Germany you don't touch the lever of your indicator at all if you driving into a roundabout. Only when driving out of it.;-)
only when u approach roundabout and u go 3/4 u give left!! obviously u fail for ur driver license ;-)
Well it's not necessary, but you can't go wrong with doing it.
Daniël Willems Actually in Germany it's illegal to do it. That's why I wanted to let him know that.
I mean nobody will ever complain about that. But it's just forbidden here.
David Schauss I must say, that is a weird rule... Thanks for letting me know though
Hi shmee, Great video. Keep up the good work;)
Glorious & really popping colour
My opinion this is the car that fits you the best out of all that you have
Great video.
Tim, do you ever feel the need for a jack of all trades car?
Seats 4, enough space for travel bags, drives like a GT3, can also be used as a daily driver.
Can't seem to find that car.
Yes please!!! Awesome car, love the Design!
spoke very well in this video
Hey Tim, awesome video! The Panamera is one of my favorite cars, especially as the Sport Turismo.
One more thing from a very German guy haha ;) - if you come to a roundabout in Germany, then you won‘t turn on your indicators before. You just drive and then set the right indicator right before leaving to tell everyone that you will leave the roundabout in the upcoming exit:) no offence! Just a friendly tip after seeing the scene at 9:05
I really appreciate to see you enjoying Germany :)
Different countries, different habits ;)
That Porsche looks aggressively fast!
Hey Shmee just a quick tip.
You do not have to indicate when you are entering a roundabout traffic. Only while leaving (in Germany obviously. 😋)
You do in the UK... ;)
Shmee flexin with the Louis bag
Of course, it is!
The touch sensor buttons are a massive fail on all new Porsche’s. You can’t find them when driving! Bring back switches. New Pan tourer looks lovely.
Are the camera mounts a little worn or does the car just shake that much?
The car shakes a lot...
Those wheels really kill it for me
I think the AMG E63s Wagon beats this for tech, performance and ‘cool’ factor plus even more usable as a daily.
Richardgm99 looks like a hearse.
But not as pretty
in my eyes Porsche far superior to merc lol
An excellent and very thorough review. I would be interested in knowing the price as configured. Also, how does the all-wheel drive compare to the Audi Quattro system? Thanks!
I would of thought the average person would be on a high with the GT3
My goodness Tim most folk don’t ever get to even drive a GT3..
But the panamera is gorgeous
No idea why you wouldn't buy this over the normal panamera body style. Looks great.
i think that will be a great choice for gumball rally for example and others like it because of the space for the crew and luggage and the power will be great i think for this purpose!!
Such a big step ahead from the previous Gen , Just Porsche!
SHMEE THE DIESEL WAS ALSO A V8 NOT A V6, EASY MISTAKE BUT YOU KNOW MORE THAN ME, IF I WAS YOU I WOULD GET THE 680BHP TURBO HYBRID VERSION
Hi 👋🏻 I would like to know if you are willing to get a new rear engine Chevrolet Corvette ZR 1 when they come out?
When did you get the herp? Somewhere in Europe?
Yes! Bag the GT3 for the GT3 RS aswell.
shmee, in Germany you don't have to blink left, if you drive in the circle, just blink right if you drive out :)
Really like the Panamera . Ultimate executive Sedan
This car is a great companion for the 911 gt3. Not the first Porsche purchase but the second. Not that I'm against having a Panamera sport turbo Turismo as my only car for a substantial discount. I am poor after all. hahaha
Your GT3 is so sick squad
Shmee , great video as well , the panamera is a great car for you , but if you think about it , you have a lot of v8 cars , so if i were you i would go for the gt4lusso instead , i know it is significantly more expensive, but there is something about the N/A Ferrari V12 , you know
Hi Tim, any updates on ford gt because first person in Europe just got there’s a week ago.
Nope nothing
Latest generation of Panamera looks really good actually since it got rid of the old ugly rear. Would be cool seeing more of this car
I love those cars.
Wonder why you don't see the Mercedes E63S Estate as a comparable?
Stockscores the e63 is a bit cheaper and it’s a proper wagon not a shooting brake like this panamera
Love this car so much!🏎🔥🔥
Shmee, please tell Porsche to bring the Sport Turismo to North America. We are loaded with SUV here and really need some wagons!
Hello shmee i am still here and always will be this is a great and interesting chanel keep it up
What about the 2018 Mercedes AMG E63 Wagon with 603 horsepower ?
Rs6 is king of estates
E63s wagon is way more aggressive looking.. and 7:42 on the Nurburgring the fastest wagon ever.....
RS6 sounds like a kiddy car.
Really like this !!!
Don't you prefer a good S class? With all the good equipment and everything (AMG...). Hi from Spain 🙋🙂
Or you could wait till the new AMG GT get to the market
So u would buy this one, or the hybrid?
Porsche you can't go wrong a big car for you. Size wise
Before watch this video, I don't think that wheels makes a difference, but it's do!
Buying the Porsche over the Ferrari version will get you another step closer to a Hyper car mate. Its a win, win!
Yes it's a Beautiful car
Very nice stying for an estate . Impressive.
JP Perfomance brought me here. You should definitely do more together! :)
Soundwise: Isn't it coming with a flap for sound control? Also in Sport or Sport+ mode it should forward some extra engine sound into to cockpit. Also the rear wheel steering would be interesting to see.
Good review and awesome car! BTW the Panamera S diesel is a 4.0l V8 not a V6.
He's talking about the old one, which was a V6.
Sport exhaust is a must, would have more emotions
Beautiful car
2 clocks are kind of redundant. Should maybe have a boost gauge or something configurable there instead.
Such a nice car
enjoyed watching
Hi Tim, that is a great colour and a great car! Maybe too many Porsche s in one garage ? Nice car tho!
Hi Tim, love your taste in cars!
have you ever considered the Alpina B5 estate, a rare beast.
Also would be great to see you do a video at Alpina. They've had a relationship with BMW for years but more luxury + performance than BMWs M division. ps really enjoy your videos
#Shquad :)
Not really looked at these much in the past but having watched this, I actually quite like it. Would seem a very practical daily driver :) Thanks Tim :D
If I had the Money , I would buy myself this Car , with the strongest Engine and Full Option .Its such a Beauty to me .. Large and Muscular..Mega Wheel Arches, I Love it .Its even nicer then the normal Panamera to me. Off cpurse this Car and Design isnt for everybody .. Most People would take something else , especially for that Money .Is it for you this Car? Hm... I rather see you more in Typicall Elegant very fast Sport/ Hyper Cars ;)
This was a video I was waiting for woohoo! And I think perhaps it is a car for you. I mean you can use it to transport a lot of things. It's pretty nippy and does the job greatly. But if you was to get one would you get it in blue and with those wheels?
