The $180,000 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Is the Most Expensive Wagon Ever... excluding the $230,000 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S E-hybrid which is actually the Most Expensive Wagon Ever

Kiraro The Kitsune With two people regularly driving the same car, I adjust the vents regularly, as we are different heights, so prefer the vents pointing in different places. Also, some times I want it pointing more at my face, other times more at my hands, etc. maybe I’m odd for adjusting the pointing of my air vents often, but I do.
That's adaptive high beams so whenever another vehicle comes your way your car will automatically switch off the high beams and then switch them back on once you pass them. Pretty simple my friend
Chico Dust-E The Matrix LED System allows the high beams to stay active. Just the incoming cars get blacked out. This is next level adaptive high beam stuff.
Stephan Heuser if it's anything like the matrix system on Audi then it auto dims the lights for oncoming traffic which is essentially turning the high beams OFF then back on and i will admit I'm not a Porsche tech but from the description it sounds just like the Audi system with the ability to be an asshole and turn it off so you blind people. The Audi system technically is always on high beams too you should check them out
The “lever thing” to start the car is part of Porsche’s heritage, when there was a time where racers had to start the car and start racing , Porsche made sure that the racers can start the car with the left hand , so they placed the key there , but after feedback that it was difficult to take out the key every time , Porsche made it into a knob!
The reason behind turning a "dial lever thing" to start the engine is no other than keeping the Porsche tradition of having the key slot to the left of the steering wheel. That lever just simulates the key you would have inserted had the car not had the keyless function.
13:27 I the adaptive high beam assistant means you can have full beam headlights on all the time and the car will adjust for any oncoming traffic automatically so you don't blind anyone. Mercedes and bmw have this as options as well. Other cars probably do as well
ssflipallday. Selling SUVs keeps them in the white so they can keep selling sportscars. Nobody bitches about Chevy selling every other type of car just because they prefer the Corvette.
It‘s not really faster, because the Batteries are pretty heavy. So it‘s not that good at the track, despite of the manoeuvrability you lose. Furthermore the batteries are used like a NOS system. You press the button and get 300 HP for a few seconds, but you‘re only able to do it a few times because the accumulator will be empty very soon.
Hi there, a few points: the straight line speed of a regular Turbo is actually not that fast at all, compared with the new E63 wagon and even the old RS6. Turbo S E-Hybrid is crazy fast in a straight line. I doubt anyone would use the Panamera as a serious track car, most racing drivers in my series drive their street cars to the Track car park and switch to a shit box(Polo, E46, GK5, Mini etc. Mine is a 206, parked in the field with a cover and no door lock) for practice. As an owner of the baby Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, I can confirm your saying about the manoeuvrability part, it actually feels cumbersome when I drive enthusiastically. But the E-Hybrid system does not work as you described, or shall I say not entirely. In hybrid mode it works like, for lack of a better term, a Prius. The battery drives the wheels and if you don't press the accelerator deep enough the engine kicks in when the charge is low. In Sport+ the engine is always charging the Battery, and you get the full 462 BHP experience and a really bad fuel economy(I got 16-18 highway). I haven't tried the Sports Response Button yet, as far as I know, it allows higher boost on the petrol engine hence gives maximum attack. I've heard from a few ECU tunning companies that this higher boost mode can be activated permanently via ECU tune, and it gives close to 450WHP and 3.8 accelerations. I might do that if I feel the car isn't fast enough, provided the tune doesn't hurt the fuel economy in hybrid mode.
FAST Food Pit Stops plaque in the arteries due to a bad diet will aggravate an underlying heart condition causing a massive heart attack. Chances- 9/10
"Little plastic thing that sticks out from the left side of steering wheel" is Porsches herritage to old 24 hours Le Man races, where race stars by that drivers run to their cars and have to start engines. And "starting little thing" is closer and earlier accesible by left side, Porsche put it on left side. Some kind of herritage is also that stop watch (im not sure about details of it).
13:27 that option is for the high beam lights to automatically lower its intensity for a short while when the car senses cars driving in the opposite lane so the light doesn't blind the drivers....c'mon Doug even you should've gotten that just from interpreting.
Hello from Greece!!!!! Really nice touch that you show as subtitles (in the video) the "cubic feet" and the "liters" or "mph" and "kph", so that everyone in the world, even if they are in a metric (or not) system, they do not need a unit converter to undestand the figures. And....very nice video!!!! I really like that you don't follow the stereotypes how to show the car and its features. Keep up the good work!!
Isn't the Ferarri FF also a station wagon? Or "shooting brake" which is essentially the same thing. That car cost around 300k making it way more expensive than this Porsche.
That climate control system would be cooler if instead of just showing the same thing as a manual switch, it showed where the air will hit the person in the seat.
"Preparation for Deletion of Model Designation" most likely means the badges are just stuck on with emblem tape, with no holes in the bumper, so you can just remove them if you want to without worrying about having holes to fill.
artistwithouttalent yeah one that says "... and then I'm gonna give it a Doug Score" on the front. Ha. That way you can just fill in the blank as to what you are scoring.
It’s kind of unfair... You should’ve reviewed a Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo. 680 hp, 3.4 s and 310 km/h. That’s the real attractive Panamera these days.
I have one of these cars and I absolutely love it. Everyone asks me what it is with that body style. I have had more compliments in this car than any car I've ever owned this is my first Porsche. Before this everything I had was either an Escalade or Mercedes-Benz I will never return to either. The word engineering is an understatement for these cars and I'm 6'2 but I'm getting old and starting to shrink
That’s not what he was talking about, he’s already mentioned that on the many other Porsche’s he’s reviewed. Does he have to mention why they put it on the left side for literally every single Porsche review because you can’t understand what he’s saying?
Dough, that High Beam matrix adaptation system is there to avoid dazzling the oncoming vehicle at night. What it does is that it switches off certain section of the led based on the oncoming vehicle's position.
Zac Kirstein perhaps handling means more than one thing... There is handling for sport and for comfort driving.... Porsche does sport really well not so much comfort whereas m5 and e63 do both kinds of handling really well... Idk just a thought.
MrBigL100 it doesn't handle all situations better. Only sporty ones. Not the s class or 7 series. Its the cls and 6 series that compete with the panemera..... Although the e63 and m5 don't directly compete with the panemera... They are still compared to the panemera because they are way better cars overall, especially for the money.
John Bobby No the Panamera is a Luxus-Sedan, a class over CLS and 6 Series, Porsche itself defines them as competitors, they also sell a executive version of this. And it is more comfortable in handling as a e63 or M5. It has just a more expensive suspension and steering which can handle everything better. I have driven every of this cars and I can say that out of my own experience, if you don’t believe me, it is your problem
MrBigL100 lmao panemera can't touch s class or 7 series when it comes to luxury. Heck it can't even beat the e63 or m5 when it comes to luxury either. Porsche says this targets the cls and 6 series. No it doesn't have better suspension and steering. Anybody can claim anything on UA-cam. Doesn't make it true. Meanwhile I can explain and give reasons why e63 and m5 are way better than the panemera.. Let alone the s class or 7 series which blows the panemera out of the water even more. Bmw and Mercedes are light years ahead of Porsche when it comes to technology features luxurious amenities, comfort etc. You realize even the s class which came out in 2014 and 7 series in 2016 have way more technology and features than even this panemera?? Despite the fact that panemera came out only so recently! Mercedes had more technology etc years ago! Does panemera have stone massaging seats? No. Does panemera have airbag seatbelts? No. Does it have magic body control like on the e clas and s class which scans the road ahead for bumps and pepares the suspension ahead of time so you can even go over a speed bump and not know it!?! No. Thats way more advanced and comfortable than porsches suspension. Does it have active suspension that adjusts so that the car is kept flat to even counter banks with no body roll like the s class? No. Does the panemera have as an advanced autopilot as the 5 series or 7 series or e class or s class? No. Heck it doesn't even have an autopilot system to begin with! Does the panemera have ambient lighting? No. Does it have a perfume dispenser? Does it have 4wd to red and vise versa flexibility? No.... I could go on and on and on.. And I am not even scratching the surface. Like I said the BMW and Mercedes and even audi are absolutely light years ahead of all Porsche when it comes to technology, features, comfort, luxurious amenities, etc etc. Oh and remember the Germans had all these things YEARS before Porsche released their panemera. Porsche had 4 years to take notes and still they are behind and struggling to catch up. So its the other way around.. It doesn't have anywhere near the level of sophisticaation as much as the other germans have. heck the Porsche doesn't even basic technology like self parking assist which even a ford has. So the the other e63 and m5 beat the panemera in nearly every single way and on top of all thay still cost way less. Its a no brainer the panemera is overpriced whereas the e63 and m5 are far better cars and far more valuable too. Not to mention they are also more comfortable, and have way better exhaust notes than the panemera.
Seconds are crucial in car racing and since this is a Porsche, the clock set-up is reflective of the Porsche GT racing heritage. That's the explanation for the clock being what it is. It still tells time, accurately, but it is unique.
The LED matrix high beam assist setting is far from difficult to understand. I will simplify it for you, do you want the car to automatically operate the high beams? Check mark means yes, remove the check mark and you have to manually operate the high beams.
Those vents are not for the windshield defroster Doug. The windshield defroster vents are right at the bottom of the windshield. This is the dashboard vent that Porsche has done on the Macan and Cayenne as well, which is pointed towards the interior of the car but not to let you feel the cold or warm air directly. It cools or heats the car in a more subtle way, which I enjoy and imagine most people enjoy.
Those vents on top of the dash are not for defrost - they're just regular upper vents for passenger comfort. The defrost vents are at the very base of the windshield, way further forward, and are non-adjustable. Just like any other car.
the high beam adaptation means that it recognize oncoming cars and shuts fragments of the light so that it doesn't dazzle the oncoming drivers despite having high beams all the time, it can adapt in any angle
The split in the rear light bar makes sense when you watch the regular Panamera video and the rear spoiler deploys. It's there for styling as the extensions to the spoiler create a line when the spoiler is parked and it lines up with the split in the light bar. They've just used the same part on the Sport Tourismo.
I feel like one of the best parts of the panamera was the spoiler on the hatchback version. It’s sad to see that small little one on the top.. In my opinion, I would stick with the normal panamera
I think it`s been made just for usa market. in states u have to label everything...do not eat cover of your frozen pizza, its not the part of pizza, and so on! and btw...was the corvette made out of plastic or some parts of the exterior until like year or so ago...they have it in early years of 1950`s in Czech republic a car made of plastic also.

I have to admit this Panamera looks great, I remember when they looked so bland and bulbous in the initial designs but now, this looks lovely. And it’s basically a wagon. Gotta love wagons!
You said you liked the E63 style more than the panamera tourism, yet on your weekend score you rated the styling of the porsche higher. Your awesome Doug. Thanks
13:25 "LED-Matrix high beam assistant" is a system that can detect cars in front of you (while you have your high beams on) and can turn of individual LEDs in the headlights. This givs the driver better visibility and does not blind other drivers.

Okay... neither one is a super car or a race car. They're both on-road sports cars and both wagons.
cheaper to run though because hybride and way more powerful (+130hp)
How you know Doug is biased: "it has better handling than the E63" gives It a lower handling score anyway

The Audi system technically is always on high beams too you should check them out
Chico Dust-E It's essentially the same system, since both Audi and Porsche are both part of the V.W. group.
That’s why every modern car blinds me for a second isn’t it, because it’s a shit system that doesn’t work as well as an attentive driver.
Or the car doesn't have that feature and the drivers were idiots not adjusting their lights.
The key turn is a throwback to Porsche racing cars where the ignition was on the left and was controlled by, of course, actual keys.
fun thing about it - Doug knew aout it in his regular Panamera review, but he forgot that by the time he was filming this
The “lever thing” to start the car is part of Porsche’s heritage, when there was a time where racers had to start the car and start racing , Porsche made sure that the racers can start the car with the left hand , so they placed the key there , but after feedback that it was difficult to take out the key every time , Porsche made it into a knob!
Anirudh K Finally someone who knows it's just a Porsche tradition and not to stand out or because the designers were bored.
A car thief might think the driver left the key on the ignition.
Exactly. Why doesn’t anybody know this?

The reason behind turning a "dial lever thing" to start the engine is no other than keeping the Porsche tradition of having the key slot to the left of the steering wheel. That lever just simulates the key you would have inserted had the car not had the keyless function.

13:27 I the adaptive high beam assistant means you can have full beam headlights on all the time and the car will adjust for any oncoming traffic automatically so you don't blind anyone. Mercedes and bmw have this as options as well. Other cars probably do as well
Mercedes invented it, but now it’s pretty standard on luxury cars (Audi has it too). Weird that he didn’t know what it was.

The high beams can detect oncoming vehicles and dim themselves.

What about the Turbo S E-Hybrid... It’s cooler, faster and more expensive
Yves Münster it IS faster. I drove one
comandernejo stop lying
The Turbo s E-Hybrid is actually much faster and cheaper... at least in Finland because it’s a hybrid. You know the taxes are lower on hybrids here.

Auto dimming high-beam headlights are not new, Doug really missed what the system was telling him.

golden mirror it because when Porsche used to be racing it was easier for the drivers to jump in and start up right away
Doug got all up in that rear end...
Dough, that High Beam matrix adaptation system is there to avoid dazzling the oncoming vehicle at night. What it does is that it switches off certain section of the led based on the oncoming vehicle's position.
Yeah I don't understand what was unclear about that one...
Mercedes has it too. And so does Audi and BMW, it’s a common thing for luxury cars.

You said it handles better than an M5 or E63, yet you gave it a 6/10 compared to the E63 which got a 7/10 -_-
Zac Kirstein perhaps handling means more than one thing... There is handling for sport and for comfort driving.... Porsche does sport really well not so much comfort whereas m5 and e63 do both kinds of handling really well... Idk just a thought.
John Bobby the Porsche handles all situations better but it isnt really the competitor of the e63 or the m5 . It competes with s Class or 7 series
Doug! you did it! you climbed in the back. You are the best!
doug is the type of guy to wait for a stop sign to turn green
This is my favorite car right now, it’s beautiful.
Doug’s the type of guy to wear an undershirt larger than his overshirt.
the high beam adaptation means that it recognize oncoming cars and shuts fragments of the light so that it doesn't dazzle the oncoming drivers despite having high beams all the time, it can adapt in any angle

The split in the rear light bar makes sense when you watch the regular Panamera video and the rear spoiler deploys. It's there for styling as the extensions to the spoiler create a line when the spoiler is parked and it lines up with the split in the light bar.
