    Even though the RS6 is quite a bit older i would still prefer it to the Porsche. There is something about the RS6 that makes is very desireable.

  • @baptoufragilise
    @baptoufragilise 6 років тому +83

    The RS6 has something the Panamera has not and vice versa, the Audi looks like it was made to scare rich people in their Panameras on the motorway lol
    And the Panamera looks like it was made to please the eye of the wife with its added luxury.
    And yes, Audi should really update the RS6!
    Cool video James, thanks 😉

    I recently drove a regular Panamera Turbo and I definitely share your points. I own an RS6 performance with an Akrapovic exhaust just like yours and find it much more a sense of occasion than the Porsche (the interior of the Porsche is leagues ahead in every way), the only thing I have a different opinion is the speed - It felt to me that the Audi was definitely the faster car, but then again that is a subjective feeling that has to be substantiated by numbers.

    • @sportec300
      @sportec300 6 років тому +1

      Completely agree with you. I have a RS6 p as well, it's a wild thing, with the Capristo exhaust even more than with the Akrapovic. The Porsche concept looked amazing, this version is just a bit too much toned down. It's a nice cruiser, but it doesn't quite match the RS6 in terms of emotion. And then there's the huge price difference. I have upgraded the interior of my car with a complete NEIDFAKTOR treatment and that's still less expensive than the Panamera - but feels much more luxurious than a standard RS6.

      I’ve always read that Audi interiors were “as good as they come”. Obviously Porsche’s four door car will have to give a nod to its occupants with lush appointments and impeccable fit and finish. But so does Audi. I’m not saying one is better than the other but it’s surprising to hear anyone make a comparison where ANY other car’s interior is “leagues ahead” of any modern higher trim level Audi. Oh well. Everybody has an asshole, I mean opinion. Whoopsy

      I can see it now, Virtual cockpit, the same 2 screen console as in the a8 panamera a7 and now Urus, rear wheel steering... i think it'll be quite beautiful. ANd if it gets the same 42v sub-hybrid system, i think it will take away the biggest problem of the RS6, which is the mpg. Yeah i can't wait for that shit to drop, and hopefully, in North america as well... we wait what? 3-4 more years for it? lol smh :(
      I think audi is left to do a revised A3-A5 even though they just released them and then the S7, RS7, S6 RS6, and so forth. But seeing the way they are going, we will prob get a new A6 and A3 in the meantime so we could get the gist of how the RS versions of each will be. Currently own a 8P A3

The original panamera shape had mixed reviews and I was glad to see the subtle changes in the new model, as soon as I saw the tourismo I felt that this was a rehash of the original Panamera design, with the rear looking slightly awkward., may be to appeal to the original Panamera owners.....? Audi is currently making big changes concerning the quality of their cars.
    Yes, it‘s been great before. But they announced they plan to move more into the luxury segment. It has a big impact on the price though (New A7).
    I can‘t wait until the RS6 + RS7 get an interior (and exterior) upgrade like the A7 did. If they do, there will be no reason to buy a more expensive Porsche anymore.

    An excellent informative and well balanced review. For me, the Porsche wins hands down on its classy interior, elegant shape and restrained but meaningful exhaust note. As you say yourself who really needs all that power in an estate car!
    What I really don’t get, is why so many reviewers like to hear pops, crackles and burbles coming from the exhaust. A deep sonorous roar on acceleration yes, but pops, crackles and burbles just sound like the exhaust is full of holes. I had a cortina Mk1 that sounded not unlike that, albeit without the acceleration 😁

    I so agree with your verdict on the exterior design element James. Somehow the design of the production version of the Sport Turismo turned out more heavy and less dynamic / 911'ish. I saw the concept car in Paris in 2012, and it was a way more agile shooting break-like car, with shorter overhangs and wheel base. A rather beautiful hatch! Interior on final car is superb though!

    The RS6 is still and will forever be the "Tarmac Terrorist". The Sport Turismo is good, but I feel that the RS6 still gives you the smiles per gallon feel due to its noise and its more "mechanical" feel. Wonderful review my friend.

    The fact that there’s even a comparison between these two is a compliment to the RS6! When the new RS6 comes out it’s game over Porsche

    That RS6 doesnt half bark. Even though i’m mad about porsches, i think i’d prefer the RS6. Prefer the looks, interior and sound for sure. But i’m a hooligan, not a gentleman.

    It’s a mute point in a North America since we can’t get the RS6 wagon here. I agree with some of the other comments, I’d love to hear your thoughts of these two against the E63s wagon. Great video as always!

    Another cracking review as always. There doesn’t appear to be much between the two cars but what might interesting is a head to head when Audi revamp the RS6 in the future.

    Good video mate. Still can’t understand excitement about Skoda sorry Audi.
    Been trying to buy Audi for some time and always ended up going for BMW Mercedes or Porsche.
    In my opinion u ruined Audi with this laud exhaust. This kind of car requires a bit more class and quietness.
    Loud exhaust are great for Ferraris or Lambos.
    On the other hand Porsche is amazing. Waiting for GTS to arrive and going to order one.
    Good luck mate.

      Pevvex Pevvex I agree with the exhaust comment. Why does anyone need or want a loud exhaust? Unless you spend most of your time miles away from other humans, you are being quite inconsiderate. I’ve always had a V8 engine car. In high school I accidentally ripped the exhaust off driving over a parking curb. That thing was loud. A nice Turbo muffler mellowed it out but still sounded strong. But as I was learning about fixing old muscle cars I drove around with no muffler more than I should have. In hindsight and with the preponderance of stupid exhaust setups around nowadays I feel incredible guilt for wreaking so much havoc around town. I love a loud exhaust more than most people. Sometimes I wish. I had cutouts on my Hemi Magnum. But that unnecessarily loud RS6 exhaust is just too much. If you’re getting serious horsepower gains from all that racket then so be it. But experience shows me otherwise. Keep it classy Audi. The cars are stupid fast. Only attention seekers need attention robbing noise pollution like that. Call me too PC but you’re wrong. I love to leave hundred foot long wiggly elevens on the street whenever I can. But not at the expense of an otherwise serene environment. Now light em up!

    Not sure which i'd choose. I just got my first Audi, and i'm IN LOVE with the damn thing, after 3 Benzes and 1 BMW. Never really spent any time in any Porsche, so for now, i suppose i'd take the RS6

    What would be the purpose of getting the Sport Turismo over the Turbo S when the Turbo S is faster and has the awesome split folding wing

    Hi James, the one thing that will make people scratch their heads is the £40k price jump the Porsche is a great car that can never be disputed but I would pick the RS6 Performance with a few options and I would be a happy man with a huge smile on my face as your well aware I’m a massive Audi fan but I think driving the Porsche and it feeling heavy and wide I think you would get pissed quickly and would feel the need to move the car on. Well James as ever a great video. Best Wishes Alan B

    RS6 is a way more sensible purchase considering pricing and aesthetics, one thing you notice watching this video is that indoor sound isolation is way better in the porsche as well as surface bump absorption, Love your RS 6 James, perfect daily.

    Great video. I agree- Porsche has more polished luxury the wife, kids, and co-workers can approve of and the Audi is a bit more brut in-your-face. Both are great cars. I think demographics play a role on which one wins. Under ~40 goes to RS6 and over goes to the Porsche. With that said, I am late 40's and just ordered the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo 4S e-hybrid, and it lets me tick off the green box too, although a small box, but a check nonetheless, and I got it in orange, because I feel under 40!

    My missus traded in her 2yr old RS6 and picks up a Sepang Blue RS6 Performance today. It's her daily driver and we go to our lodge in Findhorn every weekend ... with 2 Siberian huskies (often pressed into the back window ala' Garfield) ... I'm curious to see what the 50+ BHP will make. The 'old' RS6 was mighty, especially from 30 - 100MPH. After smoking a Fireblade in a drag I thought it was invincible - then we raced a Porsche 911 turbo S (991.2) and the Audi got its bottom well and truly spanked. They've stopped making the RS6 for now, new one seen testing at the Nurburgring in camouflage. ... I predict an interior to compete with the AMG E63s (gorgeous inside) and Panamera Turbo. ... I just hope they don't downsize the engine.

    The turismo looks and feels a posher place to be in,and a general posher car too,hence why it's not got the angry boyish exterior looks and maybe feel... So preferences,i reckon could be down to that,really... Nice to see that you've added the music link,this time around by the way... either way,all in all,as always,a very beautifully made vid,with your natural enthusiastic feels... much appreciated,thank you.

    A small factor that influences size perception is the headliner. The Panamera has a white headliner which creates the illusion of a larger and more airy cabin, while the RS6's black headliner encloses you in a sportier and darker environment. Small things like that can make a big difference.

    How would you rate them on steering feel? In my experience, that's one area where Porsches are better than Audis.

  • @dazman4891

    Easy to choose, the RS6. You smile more in the RS6 and being able to "feel" the gear changes simply makes it better.

  • @JIMMYHIBBS1
    @JIMMYHIBBS1 6 років тому +1

    For me - the Panamera is the car you’d have if you were older and didn’t have or want lots of cars - the RS6 is the car you have with other cars (and probably younger)
