Well I suppose you can never be too thorough.
So in Disney Star Wars you need to stab at least 3 times to kill someone with a lightsaber
@@Gdsryrox Well to be fair Didn’t Maul literally get cut in half. And yet somehow he survived. Anakin took a bath in lava. And yet that didn’t stop Vader. You can never be too safe.
@@ZonaiHero-ul5nm Anakin didn’t really take a bath in lava, his clothing combusted due to being close to it due to the heat and he got burns after getting two limbs chopped off. Bit different from being stabbed right in the chest/vitalnorgans Disney character have been for the last decade.

Qimir is a like a horror movie villain. He doesn't talk that much, he doesn't taunt you with his Force skills. He actually tries to kill you.
No villain in Disney Star Wars is as good as a horror movie villain in the first place.
I was about to warn you not to say anything positive or neutral about the acolyte, because “Star Wars fans” will immediately start crying and raging, but it looks like they already beat me to your comment 😪
@@josedavidcastillo9241have we seen different horror movies? Bc I swear even this guy is better than half horror villains I've seen
Fr, they made the deaths as brutal as possible while maintaining a Pg 13 rating. Qimir shish kebabed two Jedi and beheaded them, stabbed Jecki literally 3 times, and straight up snapped Yord’s neck with his bare hands. The guy is a beast, and I’m just glad they finally make the lightsabers work for once.
Depends on what you mean? According to lore? They always worked the same. In terms of drama, with the lightsaber beeing a symbol for danger? I absolutley agree! A lightsaber must not be dangerous just in theory, it must also feel dangerous and now they managed that.
*TRIPLE STAB SPECIAL*
@@CraftMotion Well, basically what I mean is lightsabers have been kinda becoming less effective in recent Disney Star Wars projects. In The Rise of Skywalker movie, Rey stabs Kylo Ren with his own saber and shortly after she Force heals him which just defeats the whole purpose of the lightsaber battle. In the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, Reva survived getting stabbed by a lightsaber. Once by Anakin during Order 66 as a youngling, and then again by Vader. In fact, even Grand Inquisitor got stabbed in that show and he survived but that’s only because he’s in Star Wars: Rebels beyond that point, so he gets a pass. In the Ahsoka show, Sabine gets stabbed with a lightsaber by Shin literally at the end of episode 1, and at the start of episode 2, she’s in a bed and it shows us her wound pretty much fully healed already as if someone used the Force to heal her. I know that there was a scene in Obi-Wan Kenobi where Reva cuts off a ladies hand with a lightsaber among many other times, but I’m talking about if living beings die or not. A lightsaber stab to any part of the torso should be an instant death, yet somehow a literal, untrained Jedi youngling can survive a lightsaber stab. And I’ve been praying that if someone gets stabbed or cut by a lightsaber they die for good, no excuses made. And thank God because he answered my call with episode 5 of The Acolyte. Every Jedi that gets stabbed or cut down dies without any indication they may have survived. Again, two of the Jedi got beheaded so they’re done for. People were complaining that a knife to the heart does more damage than a lightsaber, but now they can’t anymore, assuming the writers don’t bring back any of the Jedi who died in episode 5 in any of these last 3 episodes.
@@ThunderBZaperGrand Inquisitor while dying in The Rebels said there are worse things than death. After The Rebels and before The Kenobi in The Star Wars comics we learned what he meant is he simply cannot die. Vader has his soul on a leash.
@@ThunderBZaperDid we forget about Maul cut in half?
The way Jecki was stabbed was exceptionally brutal. Twice where the lungs would be, and once just above the heart, presumably where her windpipe diverges. That means she didn't die immediately and likely suffocated from respiratory failure

Yeah the fighting kept me around. The story is meh at best but the fight scenes are entertaining.
Poor Jecki really had to take one stab for each to make up for the three fake-outs before. I can already imagine Qimir going 'That one's for Reva, that one's for Kylo, and that one's for Sabine!!'

Especially kid characters, holy shit.
He's either going to get killed off, or that Green Jedi is going to have him imprisoned somewhere so he doesn't tell the Council about the Sith.
I feel like Sol has pretty thick plot armor
depends on the placement of the stab. qui-gon? clean through the torso/spine = dead Jecki? stabbed 3 times in the chest = dead
sabine and kylo were stabbed off to the side and received medical attention soon after. it’s not that they finally got it right, y’all just expect lightsabers to instantly kill whoever they touch regardless of where they were stabbed
💀One aspect of the lightsaber stabbing that Disney didn't get right is that there's no reason not to follow up a stabbing with a slice...
Well I think that pushing your saber to the side instead of pulling it out and stab again is kind of a disavatange in a combat - because pushing it to the side would be harder and break your guard compared to pulling out and stabbing again
@@whillard2447 Then just slice up, draw a star or a big circle... Just don't pull out...
Not really. Remember how long it took to slice the doors in TPM? Obviously flesh is weaker but it would still take more time then the stabs. Plus, it looks more badass.

Just so odd how he stabs her then pulls back then stabs again then pulls back then stabs again and pulls back. It’s a lightsaber. It burns at 20,000 degrees. Just drag it across or draw squiggly lines in her torso - mimicking the stabs is so awkward, try it.

@@derrickm222 that's the point. it's a movie. it has to be visually cool. you watch with your eyes. it's called suspension of disbelief. that details is small enough that it doesn't detract from the scene especially when it's visually cool. again, that is why you are not a film maker. and more than it's visually cool it evokes the exact cerebral response the director want to get from the audience. if you don't like it then maybe you are not the target cause i see a lot more people who enjoyed the shot.

The one thing that the acolyte has gotten right is real light saber fights. I’ve been missing the clone wars level light, saber fights, and then finally the acolyte the shows all right but they got light saber fights right finally
Yeah because Maul never survived being chopped in half by a lightsaber at all lol
It’s like every lightsaber after the prequels just became a glow stick cause people died in the prequels and then we have Jedi Fallen Order and Cal’s saber was a bat and then kenobi with the whole Reva thing and Sabine getting stabbed and then the sequels
ppl talk abt fallen order lightsaber bats but Kenobi's was an actual joke, watching Kenobi Struggle to kill 2 Stormtroopers as he swings it like a baseball bat having to smash it over and over again. They litterally bounce off the Stormtroopers Armour, Kenobi has to smack the guy 4 times before it actually Barely Cuts him, Ewans Reaction aswell makes it look like Kenobi is shocked his lightsaber doesn't cut😂
I know right, and there is also the dumb thing where Reva is stabbed in the chest when she’s a kid and then a second time in the same spot 😂
I miss the saber mechanics from Outcast and Academy cause you can tweek the NPC saber dismemberment to 100 making it lore accurate. Only problem is those cutscenes where you saber is on with an essential NPC and you end up failing the mission cause you reduced them to charred pieces.
What about The Force Unleashed lightsaber bat? Stupid video game comparison
Well, just because you get stabbed doesn't mean it's a kill shot. I mean just because someone gets shot in the head...Doesn't automatically mean it's a kill shot since people actually have survived that before on several occasions.
even then, i feel like Snoke being sliced in half should have been survivable. none of his vital organs were damaged.
They could have easily written it as him falling into a pain-induced coma, and then coming back in the next movie as the final villain so we didn't need to bring back Palpatine.
I mean Maul survived getting cut in half, and he also fell down a giant hole on top of it all!
There's the Double-Tap, but Qimiar did a Triple-Tap just to be sure.
By ep 6 she'll be back like nothing ever happened, mark me words I have a bad felling about this.
*"Somehow Jecki returned"* XD
If they show pretty much a mozambique drill and she still recovers thanks to the plot armor of being the MC's lesbian love interest, even the show's defenders are probably gonna have a hard time with that.
I think she's just D.E.D. dead.
Ironically, that's at least adjacent to the trope of fridging, despite the progressive-coded writing.
With how this shows been going I wouldn’t be surprised

Lightsabers works against kids, we’ve known this since 2005
Bro turned her into Swiss cheese
I don’t remember that inquisitor girl surviving, but if she did it could be like how maul survived. Maul channeled his rage to survive being cut in half, that is a power those of the dark side have.
Brilliant work as always.
Nah the sith has cought up on his recent star wars shows so he knew that he had to stab her 3 times because 1 time she would survive
somewhere in a galaxy far, far away, a Sith emperor cried and died of laughter.
Ok to be fair Sabine had immediate medical attention
I think what’s better is the blade isn’t treated like metal with mass to move it’s intense plasma that can go through anything so no one should have any trouble just doing that little serial killer move there
First off, you clearly don't know how Lightsaber stabs works. You clearly should know that Lightsabers stabs aren't automatically make every characters died when they aren't targetted at the middle of the body. Jecki is definitely died because the Master did stabbed her at the middle like Qui-Gonn, that Stormtrooper killed by Finn, and Han Solo does die in fatal death. Lightsaber stabs at the sides like Reva and Sabine doesn't get fatal kill off and even Grand Inquisitor lost a first stomach since his species have two stomachs. It's like the sword when it missed pointed at the heart, stomach, or spine.
Qui-gon is ghosting in anger right now.
He wasn’t even born yet?

Imagine coming back as a ghost and just being a really sore loser haunting the the guy that filled you with holes.
Thats a Robot Chicken sketch. Jar Jar haunting Darth Vader or as he called him "Little Ani". should still be on you tube
Disney probably could make Jeki survive 3 lightsaber stabs, but the dude that got his neck snapped, oh he dead.
Rip best girl.
i think thats because she was like not a major major character and could be killed off
I personally would like to get back to the kind of lightsabers that don‘t make Qui-Gon‘s death look like a joke 👍
Yeah, but you are forgetting old boy turning people’s lightsabers off by touching the blade.
Still had to shank the alien child three times to make it stick. :P
Disney sabers have become such a joke that I'm happy they're actually semi-lethal in acolyte
Im not gonna give the show points for not screwing up, this should be the norm not the exception
Let's differenciate between lore and dramaturgy. Lightsabers always worked the same way, they always could cut almost everything, that didn't change at all. What really changed under Disney is not how lightsabers work according to lore but the way they are used in the plot. And THAT is where the problem lies. Best example would be Sabine. From a lore point of view, her survivial makes perfectly sense. She got stabbed more to the side of her belly (an injury that wouldn't instakill you in Reallife either), the wound got cauterized due to the hot plasma blade and she was found almost immediatley and got medical help. In Star Wars that's a situation you should be able to survive, I mean, nobody complained when Ahsoka got shot through her shoulder and still could use her arm and that was before Disney took over. And it was also George Lucas' decision to make the lightsaber work in a way it doesn't vaporize it's victim.
BUT...
Although Sabine's survivial makes sense according to lore it's (in my eyes) still bad dramaturgy as her injury artificially creates suspense for nothing, it has no consequences, it doesn't add anything to the plot or her story. Let Shin just knock her out with a Force push and the story and even most of the dialouge would stay exactly the same.
THAT is why I see these last lightsaber stabs as a problem.
Jecki got stabbed in a way that her death doesn't just make sense in-universe but is also well executed in terms of drama. Unlike Reva in Kenobi, who not only got stabbed right through the middle of her torso, probably roasting her spine, but also became a victim of fake suspense. But I don't want to talk about that show anymore today.😅
And before someone says again, that lightsaber wounds are not deadly enough in Disney canon, just remember that Starkiller got stabbed right through is body in a quite similar manner as Reva and still he said "Master, we can defeat him together!" before beeing thrown out the window into space and waking up perfectly fine and healed. Just saying.
Agree with everything except the Starkiller example. Force Unleashed games are deliberately over the top power fantasies, so I wouldn't take them too seriously regarding this issue.
@@Rezzanine I know, they're absolutley over the top and I think George Lucas himself said he doesn't like the character but I just find it funny how some fans protect Legends as if it was their religion and say Disney is so much worse although they were not the ones inventing non-lethal lethal lightsaber stabs.
By the way, I think Fallen Order and Survivor are well executed in that regard. They are video games but they don't feel as overloaded but more grounded. Sure, Cal Kestis is a pro with every weapon he picks up but even that feels rather natural as Cal is established to be a naturally skilled fighter trained by a double blade wielder.
@@CraftMotion that's true. I just wish Disney would take all the best ideas from Legends and none of the worst. Perhaps it's easier said than done. Oh well, George Lucas is right there, I'm sure he'd be happy to consult if asked respectfully.
Somehow Jecki has returned....
Y’all need to get over Sabine. She never got stabbed anywhere vital
Those two Jedi that he stabbed earlier in the episode only have 1 stab wound, they’ll be back 🤣
Don't worry. They'll come back in the next episode with a cigarette burn where they were hit.
The only acceptable explanation for surviving a light saber stab is if the stab avoided all and any vital organ.
And in very rare cases, force healing.

I think Qimir felt bad about killing Jecki, he had mentioned earlier about how she respected her master and followed orders as a good Acolyte should.
Yeaaah let’s not forget that in the same episode, lightsabers get deflected by some armor 😬
Sabine survived because it was on the side away from her vital organs and she recieved medical attention immediately and The Grand Inquisator survived because his species have 2 stomachs
What I was confused about was how the dude easily dealt with the Jedi knights in seconds but struggled for 3 minutes against a padawan. Idc if she’s the best padawan or whatever that shouldn’t happen. Otherwise that was the best episode by far that initial fight scene was actually pretty well choreographed. You know, I never thought we would get to a point where someone dying to 3 consecutive lightsaber wounds in fatal spots would be praised by the Star Wars fandom.
About time! Though the only one that really bothered me was Reva. Sabine less so once the positioning was explained. But I find it kinda amusing that Disney is like yes she’s definitely dead. Here’s 3 separate stab wounds to prove it.
