I really thought this impossible. The beginning seemed so incredibly time consuming for such slow progress but once you have wood it becomes really fast so I can see why no one wanted to try this until now
though this proved that hardcore player actually threw their world for nothing. All it takes is literally a stack of block (which is something always mandatory to traverse around the nether anyway) and you can start your piglin farm to barter and build your portal
Hi! The reason why the skeletons didnt spawn when you had the blocks on the ground and not a staircase is because you were standing too close. Mobs spawn around the player in a circle, the outer limit of the circle is 128 blocks, but there is also an inner limit, which is 16 blocks and it prevents from creepers and such spawning 2 blocks in front of you and blowing up in your face. The staircase worked because it made you more than 16 blocks away from the lower blocks on the (also because as you said there is now fewer spawning room below the nether roof) but you still wasted the spawning potential of the 16 blocks below you. the ideal way to go about it would be to place them flat, stand more than 16 blocks away and lower your simulation distance to combat the mobs under the roof. ( i think, i couldnt see it clearly in the video and some of the stuff i said might be wrong, its been a while since i played minecraft)

The probable reason for the low skeleton spawn rate when building directly on the roof is that the entire area below the roof was able to spawn mobs. Towering up reduced the number of available spawn locations to just the ones you had access to.
If you drop your render or simulation distance down to like 32 blocks, does that drop the mob spawning radius too? Would that work to force mobs to spawn up top?
Something about playing the game this way makes me extremely unsettled. The constant void, looking around and seeing nothing. How is one meant to turn something like that into a playable state? At the same time, it gives me hope. Really anything is possible, bravo.

I loved this so much, here is a challenge suggestion. Can you get elytra & a dragon head, with out killing the ender dragon? Get to the end & use a block generator to build out & find the 2 items & bring an ender chest to get them back to your base. They say the dragon was placed on the center island & protected because it is the last of it's kind. The old builders hunted the dragons until only one was left, that was saved & protected by the faction of old builders that left wanting to protect the dragon. Mat pat even made a story from the lor of the game. Getting a dragon head & elytra is seen as an end game & I don't think u need to kill the dragon! What do u think?

You need to be between 16 and 128 blocks for a mob to spawn, at the start you were too close to the blocks, and that's why skeletons didn't spawn

@@individualhuman2407Minecraft loads in 16x16 chunks, which includes the entire vertical height. That'd only affect horizontal distance.

Something about playing the game this way makes me extremely unsettled. The constant void, looking around and seeing nothing. How is one meant to turn something like that into a playable state? At the same time, it gives me hope. Really anything is possible, bravo.

I loved this so much, here is a challenge suggestion. Can you get elytra & a dragon head, with out killing the ender dragon? Get to the end & use a block generator to build out & find the 2 items & bring an ender chest to get them back to your base.
They say the dragon was placed on the center island & protected because it is the last of it's kind. The old builders hunted the dragons until only one was left, that was saved & protected by the faction of old builders that left wanting to protect the dragon. Mat pat even made a story from the lor of the game.
Getting a dragon head & elytra is seen as an end game & I don't think u need to kill the dragon!

it is easy you just need like 1000 block to bridge from main island to nearest end city, i did it because i didn't have bow

I'm so glad you didn't switch between older game versions and back. I hate it when people do that because it's like cheating.
I love these videos where people test the limits on what is the bare minimum to beat minecraft, and apparently almost any gamemode can, but you gotta be a good researcher and can think outside the box every once in a while.
