I did like the story mode. But I didn't like how they lied about it. I remember they advertised the story as you're going to play as the Empire. Yes, you play as the Empire, but only for two missions and the rest you play as the rebellion. That is the part that really annoys me.
Yes, exactly, this is exactly why I dislike this campaign, I hate her defection, it makes no sense other than the fact that Disney ( or EA or Dice) didn't have the guts to make a bad guy story. And If you say it's because Operation Cinder destroyed her home, that doesn't make any sense either. It's just bad writing. What's unbelievable is that in Canon the Empire was defeated in one year on Jakku that this game shows. What IS believable is that in Legends it took 15 or so years for the Empire to stop fighting the New Republic and come to an accordance. The Empire was defeated so easily b/c of Operation Cinder and all the actual competent imperials being ushered to the unknown regions (to become the First Order) by pre-placed Sith Eternal Attendants. What's actually unbelievable is that the Rebellion figured it was nothing.
If you want to Star Wars' realism (something its never been concerned about) into question, then it should be noted that the closest equivilant of "the leader dies then shit starts falling apart" is the Nazi's having a total surrender 8 days after Hilter killed himself. I always found it funny and weird that the Wookie Warrior for the Rebels had that. I mean, it's a walking tank, yet it gets the tiny probe droid that is not that helpful in my opinion
@@russianinvader3207 Oh yes. The probe droid waa far more useful in Battlefront 1, and it's honestly more awesome to send in an orbital strike than simply self destruct
I think that my biggest problem with this campaign is how the tutorial mission introduces you to the idea that you can seal doors by shooting the control panel that opens them, and then never brings that back anywhere else in the game. I can imagine a few missions that could be super fun involving that as a mechanic. (Just some of those ideas for this who are interested): A mission where you need fight you way into a enemy base, and you can seal doors to cut off enemy reinforcements. Eventually you will need to flee the base before it explodes, and the more doors you closed, the harder you make your escape. Hence you need to choose: Deal with more reinforcements in order to maintain an easy escape route, or cut off reinforcements for a harder escape? A mission where you need to navigate a spaceship and hold down multiple points. You can permanently shut down some doors in order to make it harder for the enemy to advance, but you need to be careful which route you close, and with ones you keep open for yourself. A mission where you need to hold down a defensive position and are free to close doors as you see fit, and try to funnel enemies through as many or few chokepoints as you make. Those are just some of my ideas, but you get the point. The game introduces the idea that you can seal doors by shooting the control panel, and then NEVER USES IT AGAIN! (To my knowledge). What kind of game does that?
The fact that you have to sneak up on them for the takedown is why I didn’t realize that you could do it throughout the entire story and not just to beginning
I remember the PSP Battlefront had a ground to space mode where you needed to capture the Ion cannon to destroy the enemy ship's shields, after which you would be able to board to destroy the core of it. The gunships were used as respawn points for your team.
Remember, they advertised/lie about playing as an imperial. barely last an hour. Also one of the worst romance plot. You can tell this was made before ep 9 "somehow he returned" lol
i love how visually stunning the game is, and I actually don't mind the missions with the OG heroes, I especially love the Luke one. Overall I think its a neat little experience for if you want to kill some time. But I do agree that it would've been nicer to have Iden stay and Imperial for longer.
DICE were the developers, EA was the publisher. DICE made an amazing immersive game, EA took that game and tweaked it. When people shit on this game, they’re shitting completely on what EA did to it, not what DICE made.
They couldn’t add coruscant or big city planets because of memory issues but they add in vardos and never make it playable in multiplayer which is one reason I get angry when I replay the campaign
@@LukiKruki not exactly, it was a companion novel released a few months ahead of the game actually, and it wasn't meant to fix any plot holes it just provided extra backstory and worldbuilding
i considered playing it again for achievements, i recently (about 1 year ago) bought it on playstation but ultimately i didnt do it, sticking to multiplayer
While battlefront isn't originally a stealth game the idea of how they did it for the campaign was smart considering that how the imperial are in star wars just using probe droids to sneak around before they launched an attack
I loved this story mode (not so much the ressurrection part) but my favorite parts were the game breaking glitches I honestly had every single play through I had. Such as Luke falling out the map, stormtroopers flying and bouncing in the Han Solo Mission, the annoying guy in the han Solo mission flying away, the Leia mission Del just stuck in his "I'm being attacked position forever". and My top 3 favorites, My X-Wing landing upside down on bespin and Jakku, The daughter getting stuck and in a loop shooting a random pole forever, and finally when Iden is shot and later killed, Hask just isnt there.
I loved the story campaign tbh, but immediately was turned off when they pulled the B.S. every starwars game does where she "has a change of heart" like it's persona and just randomly switched her entire mindset to be with the rebels, like can we not get one mainline game where we get to play on the dark side????
ESPECIALLY after watching what is likely sever hundred thousand if not millions of people be killed (not all of which were combatants) on the death star.
I'd say more overhated than underrated. It isn't great, but it's not the terrible thing everyone makes it out to be. I think the difference is that I played it years after it released, so I never went in with the expectation of the main characters staying Imperial throughout the whole thing
@@officialmonarchmusic i think it wouldnt be so hated if it didnt introduce that trash tier plot device that was Operation Cinder, it's the pinacle of not making any sense
Honestly, I enjoyed the campaign, the story was like a 6 but the gameplay and mission design felt more like an 8 for me. Fun to play, could care less why I’m doing what I am.
I read the tie-in novel for the game before playing the game. The novel’s story has a far more complex narrative than the game’s campaign. It also builds a backstory for Iden Versio, Del Meeko, Gideon Hask, and Seyn Marana. Their squad is put together in the wake of the Death Star’s destruction. The squad goes undercover to infiltrate a rebel cell. Not much of the novel affects the campaign though does give reference points for characters. It’s a very different campaign from the campaign story of the Lucas arts Battlefront II.
Little side note about ground to space battles. There was actually one single battlefront game which had this, Battlefront Elite for the PSP. Sadly it was limited by the platform it ran on, but it was cool to be able to launch a drop pod from a capital ship and descent to a planet, then get a fighter and go back up
A couple of fashbacks of growing up, a few missions of questioning the orders, cinder a random world, then go for player characters home (so we know exactly what cinder does)
According to the wiki, Iden Versio's was in Jedha and Scarif during Rogue One and if they were actually in the Battlefront 2 campaign showing how these experiences shaped her worldviews the complaints about "defected to the rebels too quickly" will reduce.
I remember playing this with my older brother all the time when we were younger and loving the campaign.... Maybe just because we were younger but I don't have any bad memories about it lol
I always was of the opinion that the multiplayer need more elements of the campaign and I was disappointed that many of the assets and mechanics of story mode was never in the multiplayer, it's why I loved (Whenever I could) to play galactic march, it felt like it was more than just capture the flag and felt like it had some of the campaign magic.

I think that my biggest problem with this campaign is how the tutorial mission introduces you to the idea that you can seal doors by shooting the control panel that opens them, and then never brings that back anywhere else in the game. I can imagine a few missions that could be super fun involving that as a mechanic.
(Just some of those ideas for this who are interested):
A mission where you need fight you way into a enemy base, and you can seal doors to cut off enemy reinforcements.
Iden versio was actually someone who I enjoyed playing as. In the dlc I was surprised by the ending.
40:00 ah yes, the X-Wing can tank multiple powerful turbolaser blasts from a Star Destroyer as long as it's Iden flying it because she IS plot armor
The fact that you have to sneak up on them for the takedown is why I didn’t realize that you could do it throughout the entire story and not just to beginning
We never got the wildly awaited darth maul video game, but we got Outlaws, which literally no one wanted and was trash.
Definitely by no means amazing but I really think the story mode gets a lot of hate it doesn’t deserve
I always have played on PlayStation, but from what I know the resurrection DLC didn’t cost me anything
The Inferno Squad novel gives a lot of interesting backstory into Iden's childhood, and sets up a lot of what we see in the game.
... That's a book released after the game campaign which sole purpose is to fix its plotholes. Like The Clone Wars to Prequel Trilogy.
@@LukiKruki to be fair if they fix lore by making some of the best pieces of media ive ever seen im all for it!
@@LukiKruki not exactly, it was a companion novel released a few months ahead of the game actually, and it wasn't meant to fix any plot holes it just provided extra backstory and worldbuilding
Only OG'S remember Bombastic Films of the stormtroopers
we reaching a billion likes with this one
The luke part is the best level and yet its still underwhelming cuz you fight bugs
i considered playing it again for achievements, i recently (about 1 year ago) bought it on playstation but ultimately i didnt do it, sticking to multiplayer
16:12 there actually was a battlefront classic that did space to ground/ground to space battles, but it was only for the PSP release, Elite Squadron
All we wanted was a game from the Imperial side and the best they could give us was a couple of missions and then rebel defection bs.
I will say, the scene with the message of Palpatine's Scorch Earth Order was cool as hell
Luke's dialogue is fantastic in this game. I like the peaceful wisdom he spouts all the time.
I like this game's story mode
13:13 shhh i wanna hear what the Palpatine droid says 😭
Why does this guy look just like Director Krennic from Rogue One?
I remember being so shocked that Dell was killed at the end. Just being really confused that it wasnt a happy ever after ending.
Battlefront 2 Story mode is so underrated.
It isnt lol
It was trash back then, and it's trash by now, the 501 journal is superior in every aspect and it was done by far inferior technology
It’s dogshit
@@Fulcroxwhat I remember about the rise of the empire was…how quiet it was…
I'd say more overhated than underrated. It isn't great, but it's not the terrible thing everyone makes it out to be. I think the difference is that I played it years after it released, so I never went in with the expectation of the main characters staying Imperial throughout the whole thing
@@officialmonarchmusic i think it wouldnt be so hated if it didnt introduce that trash tier plot device that was Operation Cinder, it's the pinacle of not making any sense
bombastic's battlefront arc was peak back in 2018-2021
Honestly, I enjoyed the campaign, the story was like a 6 but the gameplay and mission design felt more like an 8 for me.
Love how the entrance to the Corvus is just a steep 4 story ramp.
Kylo Ren should've been the main villain in the Rise of Skywalker!
Little side note about ground to space battles. There was actually one single battlefront game which had this, Battlefront Elite for the PSP. Sadly it was limited by the platform it ran on, but it was cool to be able to launch a drop pod from a capital ship and descent to a planet, then get a fighter and go back up
I loved the story mode, just hated how short it was.
A couple of fashbacks of growing up, a few missions of questioning the orders, cinder a random world, then go for player characters home (so we know exactly what cinder does)
Iden is mentioned in SW squadrons as well.
Honesty I liked the story mode brings back memories
According to the wiki, Iden Versio's was in Jedha and Scarif during Rogue One and if they were actually in the Battlefront 2 campaign showing how these experiences shaped her worldviews the complaints about "defected to the rebels too quickly" will reduce.
I remember playing this with my older brother all the time when we were younger and loving the campaign.... Maybe just because we were younger but I don't have any bad memories about it lol
People who defend Luke in The Last Jedi dont know who Luke is. Luke in this campaign in that single cutscene IS Luke. Period.
they love to tear down beloved characters for whatever reason
I’ve been playing modded Bf2 so much recently
I think the artifact Luke grabbed from the vault was from The Last Jedi in his hut on the island?
I wished they had repurposed some of the campaign mission maps for multiplayer modes
Yeah we should’ve gotten Vardos and Pillio as playable worlds
@@DDDiego Yeah real shame, same with no star destroyer or mol cala cruiser in supremacy, like why you already modelled most of it.
Battlefront 2 should have got more updates
@@TheSiverFoundation yea i found that quite odd that the empire and rebels didn't get that part of supremacy but the other 2 did tbh I only play clone wars supremacy but it is odd
@@Mimir325 it would have had the devs not gotten moved to 2042 they had no choice in the matter
Luke was perfect in the story. EA wrote a better Luke Skywalker then Disney ☠️
5:30 Iden, why are you here
Iden: Just to suffer
Bruh, Andrew cried tye whole time 😂
I played the story mode several times, the melee only challenge was my favorite, best part of it.
Bombastic, as along time occasional viewer, I feel it is my solemn duty to inform you as a fleeting creative voice in the whirlpool of media: I love your dry humor spiced thoughtful commentary. Also, to encourage viewer behavior, give them semi reachable goals. No matter what e we do we can’t get a colab with Mr beast for you. As much as we would want to. Keep up your thoughtfulness!
"they're about to blow up their own home, but that's not a reason to change sides"... Bruh.
bombastic looks like a Jedi who ended his career a year before Order 66 to make silly Star Wars videos to pursue his true passion in life.
we love you man, keep up with the great content you post, by the way, 272 likes have been pressed, with a billion more well on the way
love the vids bombastic keep up the good work
This games story was an amazing parralel to the Shattered Empire comic. Reading that really helped me into the story. The small nods to the comic make me happy.
oh geez futuristic blurryface and his 8 other metal bishops are here. (run)
"No Space to ground combat except in the cancelled battlefront 3"
Elite Squadron: Am I a joke to you?
Great video, dude. Was fun to watch that through again.
As far as the single player goes, I wish they had developed the card system into the characters when you play them. But it was very hated at the time. But, man, Takodana as Han is hard without the combat roll ability that he should have been given.
Definitely do the DLC, man. That slaps, and the opening mission is BONZA!
There was no way, in the modern climate, that Disney and its associates were going to allow you to enjoy playing the bad guys for very long. Look at what they did to Boba Fett in their cr*ppy TV series. We've come a long way from the wonderful 'Tie Fighter' PC flight sim in the 1990s, and I honestly would prefer to be back there. Good times.
This dude knows the name of everything lmao. I like to think of myself as knowledgeable on star wars lore but he remembers the name of literally everything😂
story modes was cool to chill and get a cool star wars experience
Bro UA-cam is stalking me, I just tried the campaign again and went on UA-cam and this is the first thing I see.
27:38 my headcannonis that all the detectors made it to the ship with some civilians
The map with the ATAT would have been insane on Galactic Assault
Cool to see a different perspective of Anakin destroying the Death Star
It got a campaign because the first remake didn't have one, but the 2005 BF2 had an amazing one. Then we got this.
In Force Unleashed, they gave Galen a good reason to truly defect.
We should’ve gotten a mission with Shriv
Please bring og crew back! Bring back Bonker, Orion and Evan!
Only the OG rmember his star wars Battlefront 1&2 Trolling The good old days
33:43 if you notice the falcons rada4 dish is rectangular instead of a circle, meaning it is closer.to the sequels version of the ship.
Woah, it's the first time I see Bombastic's face, a surprise to be sure but a welcome one.
Last time I played this games Story Mode, I died as it unloaded my previous Check Point and was loading the next one, meaning I died without a Checkpoint, so the game had no clue where to put me, effectively soft locking me
