Good tip if you want the sword at the beginning. Change Shadowhearts spells before to have the command spell. And you can force him to drop the sword with I think a 50 or 55% chance of succeeding. After that, feel free to pick it up and keep fighting, or just leave. But saved a bunch of time when I found that out.
Side note: the Everburn Blade (not Sword) does not deal "6 to 19 damage with extra fire damage" - that is very misleading. It deals 2-12 damage (2d6) plus 1-4 (1d4) fire damage. The reason your tooltip showed 6-19 is because your character has a +3 strength modifier, and the tooltip is taking everything into account for your character (2d6 + 3 + 1d4 = 6-19).
It's worth noting that if you loots all of the corpses in the tomb before you press the button, they will actually have gold on them after defeating them so it's worth looting them a second time for a couple extra dragons.
I looted them to start - they had no gold on them until after killing them. However, you DO get to take their weapons from them; too bad all but one of them are casters
Also you can start the fight by trying to pick up one of the skeletons rather than pressing the buttons so you can position all your chars near a skel to quickly deal with them rather than having one char far away
Just get the +2 stealth +2 sleight of hands ring and put them on astarion, then get the necklace that gives guidance as a buff, then use shadowheart to cast enhance ability on astarion (cats grace) and you can pick pocket every merchant for unlimited gear/gold.
A note on Scratch: You can get him to your camp without Talk With Animals if you happen to have the Animal Handling skill. Just follow the prompts for the skill and be nice to him.
A good tip is, if you are aware that some skeletons, or corpses will revive to fight you. You can use the 'move' command to effortlessly and non-violently move them around the map. Group them up before combat, so when they activate they're all in a big pocket for easy control. Additionally, you can 'drop' items out of your bag for free. Such as grenades, or potions. You can easily stack a few grenades in a pile next to a pocket of enemies, hit the grenades with any ranged spell and do tons of damage.
You can also cage them in a corner with those big iron candle-holders. they are also moveable. although they're mostly casters, so they'll shoot back, but the aoe grouping is great.
7:57 yo! Take that mask! Changing your shape will let you turn into a halfling or gnome. There are a handful of places in the game that only small characters can access. The mask let’s a character do that regardless of their true race. It also lets you get the benefit of any equipment that requires a specific race to function. First change your race with disguise self from the mask (or whatever), then equip the item. Weapons, armor, shields.

Extra tip on Shadowheart (besides her being crucial to the story and as a beginning healer if you decide not to get a Paladin on Druid in your group): She gives you roll advantage on dialogue skill checks/lock picking checks, her divination is an extra bonus u can add on dice rolls that rolls a 1d4 that can help your chances on rolls!
first: nobody is crucial for the story. second: for the spells you can respec every other companion if you want. so she is also not needed for the party.
There is a necklace that gives anyone unlimited casting of that spell so she doesn't have to break concentration. She's usually blessing everybody. Most used item.
2:25 the “right” way to read stats on a weapon is to read the damage dice and modifiers innate to the weapon. You do not read the range of damage you do because that is specific to your character. So maybe a weapon is 1D8 with a plus one modifier. Or maybe a weapon is 2D6 plus 1D8 lightning with a plus two modifier.
@@MIG95374 no problem. If you’ve got an elementary school level education you can figure it out. The first number is the number of dice. The second number is the number of sides on each die. If there is another modifier that is added to the end. So, 1D8+2 means the minimum die number is 1 and you add a 2 to it. So, your minimum result is 3. And the maximum die number is 8 and you add a 2 to it so your maximum result is 10. The range of things you add to rolls changes. It’s different for every character. You don’t include anything specific to your character unless you’re specifically talking about your character. So, that 1D8+2 weapon would be changed if your character has 8 strength or 22 strength. Because on your character you add (or subtract) the modifier for that attack. There’s a learning curve. But, that’s how it’s done. This is the industry standard.
Shadowheart can command the Devil to drop his sword with 55% chance which is way easier than fishing for a save where the Illythid kills him. Usually works at first/second try. Just change her spells with K button.
@@rundown132 bind left mouse button to "show items" secondary key and select do not reassign when it gives you the option right after that. It's something like that sorry I can't remember the exact terms I did it a couple of days ago. That makes it so that whenever you press LMB to move you'll see all the ALT item options.
@@rundown132 you dont really need it all the time, it may get hard to move in a area full of items. It also doesnt look good, so would personally not do that. It may also ruin your combat if you ever fight in the room full of berrels and items.
The single thing that has helped me the most is setting up the toolbar!! You can increase the number of rows visible. You can lock it to not accidentally move things around. You can also change the order of things. I like to group melee attacks, then group ranged attacks, then other things. I group spells by single target, AOE, buff, and debuff spells. I do a similar thing with consumables. This helps me to actually find the thing I want when a situation happens. I know right where to look for a debuff. I know right where to look for for a potion and it’s the same location on every action bar. Such a huge quality of life improvement!
can you change the button mapping on ps5? I can't say how many times I've skipped my turn because i keep hitting triangle to bring up the skill wheel. lol
There's 2 tricks to getting Everburn (the sword of the demon commander on the Nautiloid. 1) the Command spell (can get it in Shadowheart by swapping her prepared spells before battle. (a lot of people know this one) 2) if you pick up the big chest (chitinous chest? I think? something like that), and carry it to the door where this cutscene starts... and if you crowd your characters right up against the door without clicking on it... you can make enough space behind your characters to lay that chest sideways in the narrow part of the hall before the doorway. This blocks the big adds which come later in the fight. It's a very durable chest. (also there are exploding barrels (purple alien ones) which you can gather and place...)
Getting Withers does not matter. He will just show up at your camp either after a couple of sleeps, or talking to the druids. So do not worry about missing him.
Yeah I just randomly noticed him one day at camp. I was level 5 when clearing that crypt out already lol. I have no clue what I am doing in this game but I am enjoying all of it.
Something to note, if you're having trouble getting/finding/buying camp supplies, make sure someone knows the spell "good berry", and spend the rest of your spell slots on it before you start your long rest, whether you need it or not.
The moment Zalk died for us the Mindflayer turned hostile and 1 shot 3 out of 4 with 1 blast. And forced us to sprint to the end and trigger the cutscene with our last alive.
This just dropped for the Xbox series X so I'm glad this covers a fair amount of the basics without giving to much away because I wanted to start relatively blind
A note on getting Karlach. If you explore the Emerald Grove, there's a door on the lower level, where a bunch of the teiflings are, near where the guy is yelling at the kid to give back whatever they stole. Open the stone door and look around, when you find a series of stone ledges you can get up, go up those and sneak-use the ladder. This will transition you to an area that overlooks the area by the log where she's healing herself. You can jump down there, but it'll cost you 30 or more HP to do so. So, make sure you've got the HP to do this. That will let you bypass some of the tougher fights in the area leading to her, allowing you to recuit her earlier. Feather's Fall can negate the HP cost. So, if you've got the DLC/early access stuff, then you've got a use for that potion of feather's fall that the DLC gives you.
@jackofclubs6229 That's what I did too. For those curious: Meet Will & defeat the first goblin attack (it's a bit hard to move around), but instead of going through the doors, hang left, then climb the cliff right of the owlbear cave, find Scratch and hang another right to the river. Jump across the stones and turn right. Karlach's across the river.
One very useful thing to do before you start your character is to play the introduction of each origin character from the character creation screen. There's a play button below each, and it introduces you to their backstory before you begin. For example, you learn that Shadowheart is a worshiper of Sha even before you start the game (it's therefore not a spoiler).
Gee.. it's almost like some people don't understand that there is something called a blind playthrough, where you avoid those types of Spoilers on purpose. lol
I've found that the easiest way by far to get the everburn sword is to have shadowheart cast Command and tell the Commander to drop his weapon, have someone nearby to collect it when he does and then go use the console. Might need to adjust the current spells for her before the battle.
Thanks! Wish I had watched this earlier. I didn’t like Lae’zel cause she seemed hostile, so I didn’t take her in my party, but turns out she chills out. Ow well.
Yeah it doesn't help that Shadowheart also antagonizes her a lot. I had them both in the party and every decision would have opposite effects on them it was so annoying.
3:15 make Shadowheart more powerful by making her a life cleric by using her to visit Withers in your camp and changing her subclass. You won’t really use her trickery domain stuff much, life clerics get buffs to their healing and also can wear heavy armor. Give her heavy armor and a shield and she’s a very effective tank for your party and after level 6 one of the life cleric benefits is that when she heals someone else she gets free extra healing herself … which pairs well with heal buff gear you can slap on her to do things like give temp hit points to anyone she heals or a once per day AOE heal for all party members ….. or you can really try to enjoy that invoke duplicity. 🤣 Also, embrace healing word as a bonus action. It’s 1D4 per spell slot level instead of 1D8. But it’s a ranged heal and it’s a bonus action. Mathematically it’s not really much worse as you get more heal mods, and it’s a thing you can do at range while still attacking or casting other spells. And don’t forget the value of her guidance spell for +1D4 on nearly every skill check you’ll do in the game.
@@lordzealotuk 👍 Boots of aid and comfort are for sale from a vendor. When she heals the target gets 3 temp hit points. That’s a huge thing at low levels. Especially with her preserve life (the boots can be worth 21+ free heals in a single fight) The whispering promise is a ring from another vendor, I think. After you heal anyone you gain 1D4 bonus to attack and saving throw for 2 turns (basically a free self bless). It feels odd … but give her 16 strength and let her use a +1 mace in combat. She will be more accurate and do more damage than with her cantrip. At level 5 when her cantrip gets an extra 1D8 damage her average damage will be 9. A 1D6 mace with a +1 enchant and 16 strength averages 7.5 damage but you can do that immediately, and the increased accuracy means fewer misses which increases damage over time (also you get crit chance with weapon attacks that you don’t get on spells where the target rolls to save). The Watcher’s Guide is an early spear you can get for her. No +1 enchant, but if an attack misses she gets advantage on her next two attack rolls (which is a big deal). Maximize the effectiveness of your potions (which you find a ton of and you can craft) and also that healing word spell. Using your bonus actions well is important for your action economy.
@@Zetheek what do you do for heals if she’s DPS? It’s really, really hard to step back from a life cleric. I’ve done supplemental heals with the bard, non life cleric … I’ve not run with Halsin healing as a Druid yet.
@@zero11010 Personally speaking, I find in-combat healing spells to be a waste of spells for the most part. There are so many better and more interesting things you can do with spells than just 'restore 6 hit points'. In general, buffing a character's AC or debuffing an enemy's attack so you don't get hit in the first place is generally more effective, especially if you find yourself in large group fights. Also, disabling an enemy in some way (Hold Person on a humanoid, Command: Flee, for instance) is generally a safer way of preventing damage while also giving you flexibility. Of course, there's just outright killing an enemy, which can always be seen as 'preventative healing'. Secondly, smart combat can prevent a ton of damage before it happens. Taking advantage of high ground with spellcasters/ranged characters can allow them to duck out of sight while getting advantage on their attacks. Getting 'instant kills' by shoving enemies of cliffs and high places with... well, Shove, but also Eldritch Blast (with the right invocation), Thundering Wave, etc. can eliminate a lot of tougher enemies quickly. You can even cheese entire boss fights this way. Lastly, abuse the Hide mechanic for free damage on priority targets, especially on neutral targets that you have already decided you want to fight. You can even 'cheese' some fights by leaving your party behind, having your 'tank' initiate combat, then have the other three sneak up and get advantageous positions and free attacks in (do note that anyone that attacks won't have their action (or bonus action, if you used that as well) on their first turn, but will be able to move still). This is made easier by the fact the enemy combatants will be in Turn Based mode, but your hidden characters will be in real time, so enemies won't turn around or spot you if you draw all of the attention away from them. Lastly, abuse Healing Potions. Especially before you hit level 5, a regular healing potion will be just as effective as a level 1 healing spell, and you aren't in a position to be throwing around level 2 healing spells freely. Very few characters have much to do with their bonus action at this point, and since you can instantly transfer potions around at no cost, it's easy to take the stack of 30 potions you have lying around and toss them to each character on their turn as they need them. TL; DR: Having healing spells is nice, but utilizing spells for crowd control or eliminating priority threats is generally just more useful. Of course, at the end of the day, play in the way that you feel most comfortable playing.
@@zero11010 For heals you just use Short Rests to heal 50% each time. Using her healing spells are extremely inefficient usage of slots and you'll find yourself needing Long Rests more often as a result. If you want her to be a defensive force for the party, consider having her use Shield of Faith / Warding Halo (the latter to spread damage from the frontline to the backline) or respeccing her into a Light Cleric, where at 6 she'll have an unlimited reaction to impose disadvantage on enemies attacking any ally. That same light Cleric has good attack spells that don't use concentration. So not only do you get a decently armored offensive caster, but a slew of defensive utility. Light Clerics have always been very good. The only heal worth is Healing Word as it can pick someone up in an emergency as a bonus action (don't use it to actually heal, just raise someone downed). Everything else is a wasted spell slot.
Be VERY careful at Emerald Grove. In a playthrough I approached the druids to talk to them for the first time. I didn't even move past them, but somehow they interpreted my approach as hostile and immediately started wiping out everyone in town. I had to raze the whole place to the ground. Then later, Karlach blamed ME even though it was the druids that went absolutely batshit. Had to put her down too. Either a tremendous glitch or the situation is ridiculously hair-trigger. Either way, be careful.
@@sqfzerzefsdf Killing Zalk has nothing to do with it. Nor does being a Drow or Dark One. I've run multiple campaigns with the sword and at least 1 as a Drow, as well as a coop with none of the above and had the same issue - it appears to be a bug
@@RommelTesla What I can absolutely confirm has to do with it is being a drow or having the weapon equipped when talking to the druids. this 100% causes them to go hostile and I've confirmed this on multiple instances. Swapping who speaks or having the weapon unequipped in someone elses inventory fixes it. (mind you I do believe the drow one requires you to pick the "evil" ones not the ones that don't get raised in the underdark)
yea its like they made the first blocked area in the game able to be opened in different ways based on your character, like as if it was part of a tutorial.
Heres one i found out. If you find a pile of rubble that you are to big to fit through use disguise self as a smaller race like halfling and you will fit.
On the ship, pick up one of the large chests and block the pathway where the Cambions come as back up. They'll just keep attacking the chest. Use Command: Drop Weapon and pick it up and just beat him up, then beat up the mindflayer.
To get to Karlach’s spot, find Scratch and there should be an opening to a river nearby. If you get as close as you can to it and use the Jump action, you can hop across the rocks and be right next to Karlach.
2:49 he's not lying about shadowhearts Lil box being a main playing point in the game...you'll get all up in her box if you play your cards right ..just becarful of the squirmie guy living in her box ...it's a long story but you don't wanna catch that infection ...more then just penicillin will be needed ...moral of the story if your gonna play in shadowhearts box wear protection..basically glove up before going in ..get all your vitamin juices too😅
1. You don't need to party up because animate dead is goated yet most classes don't have it so it's good to have a crew. 2. I didn't know you could change your dice that's so cool. Great video as always thanks
You can go around the cliff to the right instead of dropping down the hole, climb down a ladder through a trapdoor, and skip right to Withers’ button without worrying about any traps besides the button to Withers’ tomb
You can change Shadowheart's prepared spells to include Command, which has a 55% chance to force the demon to drop the sword on the ground. Way easier method than killing it.
Easiest way to get Everburn blade is to, before combat, swap one of Shadowheart's spell for COmmand (or to have that spell yourself). Command drop, and move in to pick up before devil does. (Helps if you have Lae'zel sove & have her equip it). May take a few tries, though. Or have Shadowhard first cast "Bane" on devil to inprove chances to drop, and maybe pommel strike & daze the commander devil thing.
Easiest way to get Everburn...have Shadowheart cast Command Drop weapon and you have a chance at it. Mine was 65%...took 2 casts, picked it up and left. There is an achievement for kililng the guy, but we already had that so we just left. Good luck!
Pro Tip: Dip weapon is cheesy and can be something simple like dropping a burning torch and using it to dip. Random fun tip: The witch has a lot of poison with funny names in her lair you can throw at enemies or people you don't like!
About the tip number two. Shadowheart actually have a spell that makes the devil drop his sword, you just have to attune that spell before entering the final zone (there is an autosave right before it). Just bear in mind that devil commander will pick his sword back up if you don't get it first. He focuses his attention on the mind flayer, so don't be scared to close up on him and cast the spell from point blank distance so you could pick up the sword immediately. Picking up items doesn't comsume action points, so you can use Shadowheart herself during her turn to both disarm the devil and pick up the sword.
For the Everburn sword, you can also just change shadowhearts prepared spells before the fight, and use Command: Drop to make him drop the sword and then you can just pick it up. It will much easier to keep the illithid alive at that time so you can get that XP
Tip I haven’t seen that is the opposite of Divinity 2: don’t choose to play an origin character. It is way more fun to create your own (or do the Dark Urge) and then pick up the other characters as friends. I started playing as Shadowheart which means for a little bit my character fought alone. I also missed a lot of the party members (except Asterion) and fighting with two really isn’t better (thanks for the tip on where to find them all!)
playing as an origin character gives you a few differences though. like origin gale is the only way to get ring of evasion. and in act2 he could potential get an extra lv3 spell slot that nobody else gets. different versions of hearing about their backstory, instead of learning about neatherese orb through feedings you learn about it from internal monolog during long rest. also i just like tara. they have such a nice owner/pet dynamic (gale is the pet)
Similar to speak with animals, you can also learn a lot from corpses! You get the amulet of speaking to dead in the same temple as you find withers and with it you can learn all sorts of fun secrets. Like for one, you can verify that Carlach is telling the truth about the "paladins of tyr" being a bunch of devil worshipping cosplayers by speaking to the dead refugee in their cabin.
Even better if you find the Necromancer's Book in the Farmacy' Cellar and the Amethyst in the well of the ruined town, then you can learn the spell after a few successfull skillchecks

For the roleplay section, yes there’s no negative penalty *unless* you’re a paladin, especially a paladin of ancients. Their oaths can be annoyingly easy to break at times so do make sure to actually read and consider them all the time
@@GhostWriter520 I named it wrong. I meant Ancients, named a different subclass that isn't in the game, though watchers is an oath in actual D&D. I for some reason forgot the difference between them when i made the post and i was playing the game in russian.
I wish short tests could do some of the dialog too. I hate the way the long rest thing does. In act 1, long resting could result in you failing/missing several big events, so I got in this habbit/mindset to trudge on and only rest when I had too. Now I have a queue of of events trying to play catch up when I go to camp.

I just wanna introduce this cause i hear no one talking of it but strenght monk acctually works like a charm in this game early and late game might i add first get your stenght stat to 17 than pick tge feat tavern brawler and than later on at the last nights inn purchase a clothing piece that adds 2 to your strenght modifier at this point you have a plus 10 on unarmed strikes (to hit and to damage) combine that with the flawed helldusk gloves you can get from dammon and the feat monks get at level 6 that adds damage and your dealing (1d6+10+1d4fire+1d6psychic/radiant/(i believe)necrotic) than multiclass into thief rogue for 2 bonus actions and all of a sudden you can kills litterelly bosses in 2 rounds of combat (and im talking the real bosses like orin gorthas and ketheric) the only downside of this build is initiative but just pick the alert feat and problem solved
@5:00 - Also if you try to pick up or move one of the skeletons it will cause them to reanimate and attack you where you are. I found that this fight is much easier when you trigger it at the top of the stairway than if you're trapped in that corner with the side room.
It's an easy fight, just go in the room, it makes them to funnel into a tight space, and you can place your aoe's in front of the door (grease + fire, cloud of daggers, etc), I barely lost any HP the first time
I don't know what triggers this exactly, but sometimes Shadowheart can NOT be found on the beach or trying to bust open the door further ahead. If this is the case she will be in the Emerald Grove sitting on a rock near the oxes.
First game like this and never played DnD. I’m on my 3rd attempt at a playthrough and still haven’t seen Korlach and I guess I walked by Wyll every time after the fight at the gate 😂 excited to find them finally
Same here, I don't know anything about DnD or previous Baldurs Gate games but I'm enjoying this a lot. Steep learning curve though. If you don't know of them already check out the channel Fextralife, they have amazing guides for classes, party compositions and builds as well as beginner tips
Every single person you encounter can matter in this game, so it’s definitely a good idea to explore and interact with everyone you can. There will be more optional companions later as well, so I def recommend keeping an eye out.
The skeletons outside of Withers' room can also be woken up by trying to pick one up and add it to inventory, if you wanted to say... gank the one in the dress.
If you want to save spell slots but someone needs a heal you can throw healing potions at them. I don't know how getting smacked in the face with a large bottle that someone throw at you from across RESTORES health, but this is a wacky game. Potions of Speed are really strong. Again, you could use the haste spell, but these do the same thing without taking up a spell slot. You can craft a bunch in Act 1, and plenty of vendors have them. One character can take out 1 or even 2 enemies on their own, which makes pretty much any fight in this game (so far anyway) laughably easy.
I had no idea most of the companions could be found near where you start. I don't have Gale, couldn't find him, but according to this vid, I passed by him several times... Got Karlach after a certain event so I'm locked out of romance options.. Oh the joy of being a new DnD player.. lol
You can simply use ShadowHeart's Command Spell to order the Devil to drop his Flaming Great sword allowing you to pick it up and bolt without even fighting him.
You can force any weapon an npc has equiped with Command: Drop, this includes even Voss's legendary sword.. the gythianky dragonrider. So you can obtain a legendary sword at level 1. An incredibly powerfull legendary sword at that.
I think they finally patched it out where you can steal Voss's legendary sword in Act 1. People have been reporting that Voss is only dropping a mundane crossbow now.
So at my first attempt, I somehow was Shadowheart as the main character. That means that I couldn't save Shadowheart from the pod, since it was myself. And when arriving on the beach there was never a companion to join me. Game over, I could not beat the first brain enemies by myself.
You can actually skip those. There's a series of small ledges to the right of the cave mouth they are in. You can jump up those and you wind up pretty close to Gale and Laezel.
I wanted to figure out if I could loot Zhalk, but I went Fighter, and standing anywhere near him is a bad idea. After trying and failing, I moved on. Cool to see my instincts were good.
killing the devil is a waste before the fight get shadowheart select her press K then remove a spell for command go into the fight and drop a save then just command DROP on devil and when he drops the sword pick it and leave no fighting needed so much easier and quicker
I know this is an old video but I'm having a very tough time playing Baldur's Gate 3. It is kicking my tail and I'm very close to giving up. Is there any way to make the fighting easier until I can understand the game? Thanks to any one who can give me some help.
There's hundreds of top videos on UA-cam. Do respec characters using Withers. Astarian can pickpocket Withers to get money back. He never aggros, even when you fail multiple times. All origin characters have horrible stats, made worse by odd numbers being no better than even number before. Ability score goes up in twos.. Shadowheart misses because her stats are poor. Once sorted, she's as good as any other player. Use the build guides and walkthroughs to learn how to win. Good luck 👍
I think I did a bunch of this completely out of order. I never found Lae'zel post-crash, I entered the coastal temple well-after I massacred the gobbo camp, and others. Withers just kinda appeared at camp and Lae'zel practically doesn't exist rn.
Shadowheart herself isn't needed for the Story, as you can get the Artifact off of her either later on through Dialogue options or by looting her corpse when she dies from...Natural Causes.
2:30 peeps who aren't used to D&D describing weapons by their damage rating instead of their damage dice and modifier overlooking the fact that the damage dealt will differ between characters.
Any chance they have a system like gambits from ffxii? A way to form plans for the party for different types of encounters. The npcs run that plan, you play your character the way you want and then call audibles for the npcs when things pop up
Good tip if you want the sword at the beginning. Change Shadowhearts spells before to have the command spell. And you can force him to drop the sword with I think a 50 or 55% chance of succeeding. After that, feel free to pick it up and keep fighting, or just leave. But saved a bunch of time when I found that out.
I was going to mention that and then I saw your post.
We tried this first night of playing and we're shocked it worked
Good to see that spell is broken here, too.
I did it with my Warlock I created last night. Worked like a charm! Will do it with Shadowheart when I play a more martial class :)
This is slowly becoming the vigo breaking his toe on the helmet meme
Side note: the Everburn Blade (not Sword) does not deal "6 to 19 damage with extra fire damage" - that is very misleading. It deals 2-12 damage (2d6) plus 1-4 (1d4) fire damage. The reason your tooltip showed 6-19 is because your character has a +3 strength modifier, and the tooltip is taking everything into account for your character (2d6 + 3 + 1d4 = 6-19).
nice catch and good explanation thank you
You can use it as a warlock, as a pact weapon.

And they actually won't have their weapons. Not that relevant for the caster types, but the warrior becomes quite useless.

Just be advised for low level characters. It is a difficult check. Much easier if you have a speak with animals option.
just don't touch the body and let scratch smell your hand.

There's a meme of her being the party's "Guidance Bot" for this exact reason. ;)
@@micbln8967third: paladin is not a healer, it’s a multi attack gigachad great weapon critting DPS class.
Somebody doesn't know the difference between guidance and divination.
I don't know what the dice rolls mean though

You can also go into the game options to change what types of items are auto-added to the toolbar when you pick them up.

There's 2 tricks to getting Everburn (the sword of the demon commander on the Nautiloid.
1) the Command spell (can get it in Shadowheart by swapping her prepared spells before battle. (a lot of people know this one)
2) if you pick up the big chest (chitinous chest? I think? something like that), and carry it to the door where this cutscene starts... and if you crowd your characters right up against the door without clicking on it... you can make enough space behind your characters to lay that chest sideways in the narrow part of the hall before the doorway. This blocks the big adds which come later in the fight. It's a very durable chest. (also there are exploding barrels (purple alien ones) which you can gather and place...)

One very useful thing to do before you start your character is to play the introduction of each origin character from the character creation screen. For example, you learn that Shadowheart is a worshiper of Sha even before you start the game (it's therefore not a spoiler).

Is this a scam?
she is a tsundere
Also, embrace healing word as a bonus action.
@@lordzealotuk 👍
Boots of aid and comfort are for sale from a vendor. When she heals the target gets 3 temp hit points. That’s a huge thing at low levels. Especially with her preserve life (the boots can be worth 21+ free heals in a single fight)
The whispering promise is a ring from another vendor, I think.
She's also super strong if you make her a storm cleric/sorc, she can hit in the 40's at level 3.

Random fun tip: The witch has a lot of poison with funny names in her lair you can throw at enemies or people you don't like!
Finding dirt mounds to dig up changed from perception to survival checks at launch
If you get a survival check go off and you fail it you can still use the shovel and dig around the area to find what is buried.

Same here, I don't know anything about DnD or previous Baldurs Gate games but I'm enjoying this a lot. Steep learning curve though. If you don't know of them already check out the channel Fextralife, they have amazing guides for classes, party compositions and builds as well as beginner tips
I must have walked straight past wyll too 🤦
Every single person you encounter can matter in this game, so it’s definitely a good idea to explore and interact with everyone you can. There will be more optional companions later as well, so I def recommend keeping an eye out.
The spell command can make him drop his weapon, will try to remember that next run through.
The skeletons outside of Withers' room can also be woken up by trying to pick one up and add it to inventory, if you wanted to say... gank the one in the dress.
You forgot to mention that Withers can also resurrect dead companions for a price.
Oh the joy of being a new DnD player.. lol
Great stuff to help get started, just getting into game and this helped alot
You can simply use ShadowHeart's Command Spell to order the Devil to drop his Flaming Great sword allowing you to pick it up and bolt without even fighting him.
You can force any weapon an npc has equiped with Command: Drop, this includes even Voss's legendary sword.. the gythianky dragonrider. So you can obtain a legendary sword at level 1. An incredibly powerfull legendary sword at that.
I think they finally patched it out where you can steal Voss's legendary sword in Act 1. People have been reporting that Voss is only dropping a mundane crossbow now.
If you make the right choices, he will just give it to Lae'zel later in the game.
This game is brutally good. First Zelda, now this, and next week Starfield. Crazy.
So at my first attempt, I somehow was Shadowheart as the main character. That means that I couldn't save Shadowheart from the pod, since it was myself. And when arriving on the beach there was never a companion to join me. Game over, I could not beat the first brain enemies by myself.
What about laezel?
You can actually skip those. There's a series of small ledges to the right of the cave mouth they are in. You can jump up those and you wind up pretty close to Gale and Laezel.
Friendly tip. Find Karlack first before Astarion, then go get him....you'll thank me later lol.😂
I wanted to figure out if I could loot Zhalk, but I went Fighter, and standing anywhere near him is a bad idea. After trying and failing, I moved on. Cool to see my instincts were good.
I wish withers would have given you any info on who he is. I was so curious I had to look him up and it spoiled more then I was ready for
I completely missed Withers and he showed up in my camp after I kinda accidentally committed gobling genocide on the camp.
I was just coming to leave this exact comment. Currently respecing Shadowheart and am about to go plunder a necromancers amulet lol.
He showed up without any notice to my camp and I have no idea why.
@@nointro he shows ou after a while so you dont miss out on the chance to respec your class - its for balacing reasons of the game.
"I accidentally the goblin camp."
Gameplay tips are cool . But as for like where to go and what to do. Have fun with that yourself.
great video thanks!
"Her little box is crucial to the story" may have another meaning
killing the devil is a waste before the fight get shadowheart select her press K then remove a spell for command go into the fight and drop a save then just command DROP on devil and when he drops the sword pick it and leave no fighting needed so much easier and quicker
Out of curiosity who else killed extra enemy while getting sword? And how did you guys do it?
Good luck 👍
about the devil part you can just make shadowheart command him to drop the sword you pick it up
I think I did a bunch of this completely out of order.
Discovered Faerie Makes that fight with the Lieutenant a lot easier if you have someone that can do it.
Killing the mindflayer as well is an easy way to get to level 2 as soon as you wake up
Nice. I ploundering the crypt right away.
The undead guy always shows up in your camp no matter if you save him or not, also besides 1 Skeleton there in this area are mages
2:30 peeps who aren't used to D&D describing weapons by their damage rating instead of their damage dice and modifier overlooking the fact that the damage dealt will differ between characters.
Any chance they have a system like gambits from ffxii? A way to form plans for the party for different types of encounters. The npcs run that plan, you play your character the way you want and then call audibles for the npcs when things pop up
What you need to do before reaching act 1 :
- buy a good gaming chair
